Giving him the benefit of the doubt.  Masisira bigla yon pagdating na ng bogus requests.  Isip isip mga kamember
That's why we should always be responsible. Good thing we have this thread to remind us of our responsibilities.  :)

Thanks for the quick reply, sir macdon.

The posted info above shouldnt be taken maliciously in any form ...

Please rest assured that I assumed you acted in good faith.

You did not previously post info about what happened to your original remote, so I was curious if WD sends a replacement remote regardless of whether or not the user informs them about the status of the original remote.

I agree that WD seems to be a good company, considering that it took the trouble of going the extra mile to serve a customer.

No worries brader  ;) - I may have quoted your post to reply to your question but my mention of "any maliciousness" was more for everybody to read as I didnt want others to get the wrong impression and also how the thread was leading to.......
Nonetheless, I truly appreciate your assumption in giving me the benefit of the doubt.

Guys, WD's generosity is indeed a plus for all of us supporting their products - the fact that they do & us knowing it should be enough for us to feel good about it. No need to actually test their generosity - unless of course if you have a legitimate concern, then go right ahead.

So, lets just be content in knowing that there are still companies out there that supports us as I'm sure there are also others out there that will do a lot less.

WDTV should have a DTS Downmixed Stereo. Its the missing link for a great cheap HD media player.

yes, the latest firmware update should include fixes and changes found in previous iterations of said firmware. having said that, there's only one sure way to find out - try it

the time will come, i'm sure of it. but i think only  a small percentage of people watch hd movies with their TV as main source of audio. most use the wdtv in conjunction with an AVR, hence, no problem with DTS.

It's unlikely that DTS conversion will ever be included.

It seems that WD does not want the additional expenses involved in a licensing deal with DTS.

doesn't the freeware popcorn hour audio converter have aac conversion capabilities?  i think it uses besweet and has batch encode/directory-subdirectory encode functionality....

DTS downmix really useful for me for family travel and on long holiday. I need to bring something to watch to keep the kids busy.

Have any of you guys considered getting a different media player because of the DTS issue or other issues of the WD player?

Honestly, I've thought about it myself - but I still find the PQ of the WD to be very clear in both plasma and the PJ. I also dont have plans to network it, so the WD is just right for my current application.

........but I still do get the occasional "what ifs" from time to time :P

Egreat cheapest player which can DTS downmix stereo is only 8T SRP. And its a NMT player, also with component out video connector (useful for older HD TV which doesnt have HDMI).

I think he's referring to the M34A. 8k nga ang SRP. Naging 7.5k pa nga nung nag group buy. Baka naman pwede pa rin. :)

Hahahaha - just thinking aloud bro.........tao lang po ;D

DTS is still a non-issue for me since the unit is connected to the HT - but I do understand the convenience & flexibility of being able to connect it to a tv w/o AVRs.

The biggest gripe I would have about the player is that since day1, eHome staffers have warned me that there are some files that plays great in either popcorn or eGreat but unplayable in WD players.
I know it could be just a firmware issue that could be solved in future updates.....but since I havent updated my firmware in awhile, I just wanna know if this is still the case? ::)
