I think that if you put posters right on top of your display, they will be distracting and depending on their color scheme, they may even adversely affect your perception of the colors on your display ... unless the posters are black.  ;D ;D

It might be a better idea to locate the posters elsewhere.  :)

i would not do that too.  i would encourage nothing else on the viewing wall other than your screen or panel.  you may also want to consider painting your viewing wall black.

cheers!

+1 and +1 the last two posts.

painting the front wall a dark color (black even, like sir streetsmart's setup) will give the impression of a clearer picture ... that's why most high end sony tv's have black borders while their low end tv's have light color borders.

Thanks guys I believe your right. Looks much better if you wont be distracted y anything else on the front wall :). Yea will try to look for another location for the posters :)

Just sharing.

I finally was able to frame some of the posters in my possession. Luckily all my posters  are authentic. Nne of them are replicas.

But now my problem is that I have no idea how to hang them up the wall. Each poster is around 15 pounds.

Monsters Vs Aliens

Watchmen - I absolutely love this graphic novel, suffice to say I absolutely love the movie as well.

WIP CONTINUED...

After long last my room is finally completed. All that remains is to bring the stuff in.

Now for the details of the last update.

1) There is no way my metal frame and gypsum board would be able to support a 15 pound poster. So after a lot of planing, finally with physics, a few small hooks and a lot of high tension nylon, I was able to create a backing support for the poster. I made the backing in a way that you would be able to lay it flat on the wall.

Wall poster 01

Wall poster 02

2) Rear speaker ledges. Only additional work I did on this was to drill additional screw holes on the metal frame to make the ledge sturdier. Also added a layer of sticky tack between the wall and the plywood to act as a cushion.

Ledge 01

Ledge 02

3) Finally the last piece of the room is the addition of the curtains. I no longer have to look at the ugly windows again.

Here are some little FYIs about this.
     - There are actually 2 sets of curtains I found one to be thick and heavy but I wasn't satisfied so there is actually one on top of another.

     - The third set had to be modified due to the length.

     - Behind the curtains on the window's ledge are a few packs of "SILICA GELS" to prevent moisture, Dried and fresh "BAY LEAVES" to prevent insects especially cockroaches and "BLATTANEX" to ensure to kill all insects if the bay leaves don't work.

Now for the Curtains.

Curtain - Top

Here you guys will see another reason for the sudden cieling drop. I wanted a gradient look on the curtains as well as no light will appear from the top during daytime.

Curtain - Middle

Sorry for the wrinkles it's hard to put up really big and thick curtains.

Curtain - Bottom

Curtain - Close-Up

For my finishing touch i finished 2 cans of lysol on the entire room. :D

Thats it :)

Thanks for viewing, Come back again once I finished setting up my equipment.

I can't believe how expensive AV racks are. Not to mention you can't really find one that is practical for home theater needs.

Being so I decided to make my own AV rack.

I went back to Google Sketchup and after constant redos finally ended up with a final design.

Google SKetchup AV rack design:

Google SKetchup AV rack design with my equipment:

Luckily we had some old plywood lying around. So just a few carpentry, paint and buffing, was able to do a DIY rack.

Though it's not exactly as how I designed it, I had to change a couple of things to make "better". Overall though I'm happy with it.

I'm not a big fan of racks which effectively enclose the center speaker within 4 walls. It will have an unpredictable effect on the frequency response (boost certain frequencies, so that the response is uneven). To alleviate that, I suggest you position the center speaker really close to the front edge. Better if it juts out a little.

Also, make sure that the tweeter points to the level of your ears. Otherwise, put a kalso so that it does so.

Thanks streetsmart, I'll do that. I was concerned about that too because I don't know if there will be any effects on the sound quality.

Thanks streetsmart actually my favorite gears are also my Denon and Polk. Denon's sound quality is really really good. And love the polk's bass as well. perfect for my space.

The wharfs arent bad either especially for their price. Love thier looks to. But of course if I had a bigger budget I'd definitely get something else :)
