Just came from sonny's home theater auditioned the 4300 definitely getting it.....problema ko yung speakers my budget was set on buying wharfedales pero ng marinig ko yung mission speakers na naka hook up sa marantz (m73, m7c2 and the m70) parang mas gusto ko yata na mag mission although the set-up will take longer to complete (a lot longer!).  Pero tama din si sonny if i get the mission speakers the itch to upgrade will be lesser.  What do you guys think?

Go with the mission pare, although maganda rin naman ang wharfs at mura pa pero if u compare them side by side eh lamang na lamang ang Mission.

Biktima ako nang pagmamadali and i end up selling all my setup selling them at a very low price almost half nang price nung binili ko considering na wala pang 1 year, para lang mabili ko yung talagang gusto ko( I sold my Yamaha, my 5.1 speaker setup and my DVD player bummer) oo nga pala nagbenta pa ako nang mga DVD's sighhhhh....

Getting the mission speakers na siguro this saturday.....bukas ba si sonny ng saturday I forgot na eh ;D.  Sa tingin ko with missions malakas ang immunity sa SARS pag wharfs medyo mapapaisip ka pa. ;D

question lang po. what would i be missing if a receiver (in this case the sr-4300) had no component outs? it says sa product specs na s-video and composite connections lang? would this be a big loss, performance and functionality wise? thanks in advance for your replies, best...

No big loss there, usually u connect  ur player directly sa TV at hindi na dadaanan sa Receiver, and isa pa kung wala namang component in yung TV mo eh bali wala din ang component ins nang receiver. But syempre its a plus kung merong component in and outs  ang receiver mo.

Replied to your PM I hope I was helpful, you can also ask Courage he's the one who's gone through the pros and cons of a lot of receivers in the market and other members with mission marantz set-ups.

You will just missed the component video in and out function.

Actually none at all, even if you have a TV that has component video input, wala namang OSD ang Marantz 4300, so you will just connect directly the component video out ng DVD player to the component video in ng TV.

Ang advantage lang naman ng may component video in is madidirect mo yung video sa receiver then when you select the function/input (eg DVD), automatic na yung video component ang mag lalabas ng output for video.

Pag isa lang ang video player mo na may component video out, then hindi malaking issue ang compaonent video in/out sa isang receiver.

How's the SR4300 performance when it is connected through pre-amps to a dedicated power amp?

I think yung power amp ang magdadala ng sound not the Marantz, just like connecting the 5.1 analog out of the player to a receiver that has 5.1 analog input, so naka base ang sound sa external amplifier.

Pero di ba yung Marantz pa rin ang mag poprocess nung ssound and the power amp will only amplify the sound? So may connection pa rin yung sound quality sa marantz?

sirs, silly question po (please bear with me and don't laugh  ;)). is there an AV receiver (in this case marantz) without the radio tuner? will it still be able to function properly as an AV receiver (sans the radio tuner)?

the reason i'm asking is because i want to get an AV receiver but i don't really have any use for the radio tuner. if and when there is such a thing (or whatever thingy it might be called), i guess it would be cheaper and practical.

thanks for your time. best...

In the case of marantz parang lahat yata ng receivers nila have a radio tuner.  Its sort of an added feature of the receiver and even if you take it out I think the cost reduction wouldn't be significant ;)

All receivers have tuners. Receiver means an integrated amplifier with tuner. The Marantz 4300 is an example of an AV Receiver.

Mga bros, if you were to choose, what combination would be best.  I'm working on a 27k budget for a receiver and fronts (70/30, Music/HT).

1.  HK3550+8.3 Wharf (~27k) - heard this combination and is very good (actually 2550 lang yun na-audition ko)
OR
2.  Marantzsr4300+M73i (~27k) - have not heard this, but based on your posts, this is worth considering.

The HK/Mission combination is out of the question since this is way out of my budget (~32K?).

sir levi,
so kung:
tuner+integrated stereo amp=Stereo receiver
tuner+integrated AV amp = AV Receiver

Jairus,

salamat.
