Thanks sir  Courage..

you're right.. actually, i'm considering also the price.. i think the A6 is same price as A3.. if A4 is too small for living room.. then ipon mode din ako..  :D.. pareho na ang laki ng front at center driver (6.5in) ko pag nangyari yon.. hehe..  ;D

Yes, same price nga ang A3 at A6, A4 is too small for me kaya im going with the A6 at nung narinig ko sya buong buo yung tunog kaya ipon mode.. Are you using A3 as your fronts?

Hi All,

Kindly suggest which is better center speaker, polk audio A4 or A6. i'll be using it for movies (location:living room).. Do you think A4 would be enough considering the room dimension of 2.5 meter x 5 meter?.. Thanks in Advance..  ;)  By the way i'm using RTI A3 for fronts.  :D

im an a4 user paired with a3 for my frontstage driven by an onkyo 608 in a 13'X15' room. so far, loud and powerful enough for my taste despite its compact size. i was surpised nga when i 1st used it because +1 lng ako sa center volume para di masapawan yung LR. however, if you have the space for a big center channel, then ofcourse the a6 is the answer. wala na ytang lalaki padun sa polk ;)

yes sir A3 po front ko.. hindi kaya masapawan na yung  front ko if i'll be using the A6 for my center?

ah ok sir.. hmm.. napaisip tuloy ako. hehe..  ;D.. ganyan din po sana yung setup ko naiisip sa ngayon. Yung option ko po if pwede na yung A4 as center then i'll go for it.. But another side of me is saying na A6.. ;D.. pag nagkataon mas mahal ang upgrade ng front ko..  ;)

actually the center is one of the most important part in a ht setup because dun ang outlet ng dialogue, so in a sense, the bigger the better especially if you are going to use it in a big room. there's adjustment namn for sound levels if you think its too loud. ako kasi, space yung consideration ko because the a6 is too big and heavy for my space.  my a4 is wall mounted below my lcd, thats why.

ah ok sir.. you're right.. sa space naman po.. balak ko sya ilagay sa baba ng plasma ko..  pro feeling ko hindi sya kasya kasi sobrang laki.. baka pa modify ko muna yung tv rack.. or else might get the center stand.. salamat po..

Hi!

I'm jumping over from the TSi thread!
Hehehe..

I was set on getting a TSi setup:
Tsi 300
Tsi 100
CS10
PSW110

But I'm now strongly considering the following:
Rti A3
Csi A4
PSW110
plus any cheap but good surround rear speaker.

Any recommendations for the rear speakers? Or do I really have to go A1 or FX? Because if that is the case, I have to save up pa for the additional cost and stay with a 3.1 setup for now.

I'm planning to use an Onkyo 509 receiver for this setup.

So, ok lang to stay 3.1?
Will my Samsung speakers from my free Samsung HT work? Hehe..

One more question, if I'll save up for it na lang din, A1's or the FXi's?

Check your samsungs speaker specs kung pwede sya, ususally mababa impedence nang HTIB speakers pero kung 8 or 6ohm yan kaya yan, check also the power it can handle, kung mababa just dont crank the levels of your surround...

FXi or A1? No experience with FXi but for me.. ill get the A1... A1 kasi pwede mo rin gamiting mains eh

If your looking for cheaper rear speakers, why don't you consider the Polk Audio Owm 3. its less then P10,000 for a pair.

Or the M10's?
Will this work?

Planning to use an Onkyo 509 with this setup.

The Polk Audio M10 will work fine as surrounds. The retail price is P7000+ only.

Thanks for the input guys! I really appreciate it!
I think I can go for the M10's for now, so if in the future, I can use them as support to a 7.1 system when I do get the A1's.

Getting the M10's for now also frees up some budget for a better Receiver.
I'm considering the new Onkyo 509. But a friend of mine is recommending the Denon 1611, another the HK 160's.

What do you guys use/recommend?

I am using Harman Kardon with Polk Audio though TSi series. The music and movies sound great and it's more on the warm side. Also managed to audition Onkyo 608 with Polk Speakers. Somehow the HK has a "thicker" sound on both movies and music. I also tried comparing the physical weight of HK with Onkyo. HK is much heavier

Thanks for your sharing sir Cosmic79! Really important to hear feedback from the actual users. So far I've been stuck with online reviews and photos.
HK is number one for me when it comes to the aesthetics though. It really looks good!
I've heard stories also of Onkyo units heating up. It's a concern for me because my TV area is not yet airconditioned.
Any comments from Denon/Onkyo users with an RTi setup?

Thanks again guys! You're my HT big bros!
Can't wait to sample the actual units.

Air-conditioning is not needed for Onkyo receivers. As long as it has adequate space on top for the heat to dissipate it will be okay. What's bad is cramming it into a shelf/cabinet with confined space.

If you're comparing HK 160 versus Onkyo 508 the difference in weight is 0.5 kg or 1.1 pounds.

@Conan:
Thanks for pointing that out chief!
As soon as the TV gets mounted, it clears space on the TV shelf.
So if I do get the 509, I can put it on the top-most shelf with the center speaker and the bookshelf speakers.

I'm curious about the weight references. How does it affect the performance or value of the AVR choice?

Weight is the last thing that i'll worry about. I suggest you go there and listen.. Sir Marc"avshop" has both Onkyos and Harmans, i heard the RTi's play on both comparing against TSI's and Infinity's. I ended up going home with RTI's they just sounded great on both receivers, though i'm using a Yamaha now but still RTI's sounds amazing...

Thanks @Courage!

Actually, I've sort of decided on the RTi's for my front and centers and a PSW110 for my sub.
Space-saving + Sound quality. Still undecided on the rear speakers though. So will try all the suggested ones. My original plan was just to get a high-end soundbar.. but I got disappointed in my search for one..

I'm definitely going to audition the three AVR's before buying. Will be going to check which will suite my taste more for the AVR sounds.
I'm planning to bring my Xtreamer and my Mac to test out my files too.
Any other tips? hehehe..

Btw, I haven't heard from any Denon 1611 users yet.. Anyone who would care to share?

So you are planning for RTiA3 for Fronts and CSi A4 for center right? For surrounds TSi and the M series will do..and even if it's not an RTi they will still sound great though no experience with the M series.. But if you can extend your budget go for the A1 para mas gwapo :) but hindi sya ganung ka critical to pair it with an A1 for surrounds.

Tips...

Just enjoy the audition and be careful, sometimes you'll end up spending more than you plan. I'm the biggest example he he he ;D. Kasalanan ni sir Marc, making all those speakers available for demo kaya ayun narinig ko tuloy at pagkadinig ko di na ako pinatulog... but hey I'M VERY HAPPY...

Good luck sir and happy hunting.. ;)

Yup! RTi's for the front are decided on na.
Secret weapon, will bring my wife to be my "treasurer" and auditor!
Hahahaha..

Will get the cheaper Polk speakers for surrounds for now. Will save up for A1's and then use the ones I'll get now for the full 7.1 setup later on.

Still undecided with the AVR though. For now, based on looks, the HK160 looks really good, neat and solid. The Onkyo 509 looks good feature-wise, since it's the newest among the three.. Well the Denon 1611, no other feedback yet, but a dad of a friend swears by it. He has a mini-cinema at home with Polk setup too.

may it be hk, onkyo or denon, you won't go wrong with any of them if paired with the RTi A's. i had the chance to listen to them and they all sounded great. it will just all depend on your taste. bringing your favorite cds will surely help. good luck and welcome to this hobby ;)
