i encountered a problem.. when the egreat mounts the 4 external drives, it randomly allocates which is treated as drive A, B, C and D, so the yamj generated library does not match. any way to force the drives to be labelled in sync?

hi sir , you can try looking at this link for possible solution to your problem.

i'm just about to try this yamj. assuming i completed the installation will the jukebox work even when the nmt is unplugged from network? or do i need to have a network connection all the time? tia

hi sir, if all your movies are on the HDD inside the NMT then you don't need the network in order to
play them. If you access them through shares from the PC to play them, then you need the network.

I encountered the same problem with having multiple enclosures hooked up to the nmt. You will most likely get to the screen where it shows the synopsis of the movie but it will not play and go back to the same screen because of the incorrect NMT path.

If you configured your enclosure for example as a device connected to your NMT usb A-1, make sure that it is the first one that you turn ON (or connect first) if you are using multiple enclosures. Otherwise, the NMT will read the enclosure as usb B-1 (if connected or turned on second) and you will not be able to play the file.

I noticed that the usb port assignments on the nmt do not necessarily mean that the bottom or lower part is usb A-1. You can connect a single enclosure to either of the two ports (on m31b) and it will show up as A-1. The second enclosure as B-1...

..hope it helps.
Learn the technology but also learn to trust your ears and eyes...and enjoy the journey.

Question to those who have already jukeboxed...  is there a certain folder/subfolder scheme format to be followed?  Or do I have to place all movies in one folder per assigned/mapped drive, with no subdirectories?
There's only one way to find out right?

hi sir, there is no scheme or format. you can place them anywhere you like as long as you are consistent
in pointing to them when using the YAMJ GUI before building the jukebox.

alvinh, your advice is spot on... the eGreat labels my 4 external HDs, from A1 to D1 based on the order that it detects them, ie a first come first serve basis.

To avoid the delay at boot up,

1) i power on the nmt (which has an internal HD), and the yamj jukebox is located in the internal HD...
2) i select Video and it jumps into the index.htm which is for the jukebox covering 4 externals and the internal.
3) Only then, do i switch on the External HDs in order of preference..

why is this quicker?
1) with an external HD attached at boot up, the egreat will auto connect to Drive A1 by default, and this takes a long time... you then need to waste time going to "Media Source" in the menu to go to the Internal HD to find index.htm
2) at that point, the egreat will create indexes for all 4 external HDs and this takes forever.

hope this helps others :)

hi sir, it depends on the number of movies you start with. If you start with hunrdreds or more then it will really take time, but still within the hour if you have fast internet. The best way to speed things up is to allocate all your internet speed (that is stop all other downloads) while update is going on.

hi sir, it will abort everything. no "index.html" will be created. and you have to start over again
if ever you decide to run the yamj the second time around.

Just to give you an idea on time, when I jukeboxed my internal HD-which contains 124 films, it took 45 mins to accomplish! ;D

That's odd...40 mins for a movie to update?...Something's definitely not right. I hope you resolve the matter.

follow sir mrm procedure in installing the needed applications.

1.  then launch YAMJ GUI Config (mine is version 0.43).
2.  connect your external drive to your computer.
2.  set the "location of your movie directory to scan" to the folder where your movie files are located
     - kung external drive gamit mo ok lang, point mo lang dun sa drive and folder nung mga movie files mo.
3.  then set "my video file are on" to "a USB drive attached to the NMT" and select "USB_DRIVE_A-1".
4.  set "Location where you want the jukebox to be stored" to the directory where you install the application.
5.  click "Add" then click "Save".

6.  the open the directory where you install the application.
7.  My_YAMJ.cmd file should be present, double click on that file and wait.
8.  the application will create the "index.htm" and "Jukebox" folder.
9.  when done, copy "index.htm" and "Jukebox" folder to the root of your external drive.

10.  connect your external drive to your m34a on the bottom usb port
     - bakit bottom? kasi USB_DRIVE_A-1 yung select mo previously.

done.

hope that helps..  :)

after clicking My_YAMJ.cmd a mediainfo window appeared. do i click/do anything or just wait? it seems to take forever...

Hi sir, If you don't mind sir, could you show us your step by step procedure from

       - where you downloaded YAMJ, Mediainfo, YAMJ GUI and which version
       - Your own step by step procedure when you followed the guide here
       - Where are your movies located when you run the YAMJ GUI (inside NMT, ext HDD , etc...
and how are they connected to the pc.

Hi sir, If you don't mind sir, could show us your step by step procedure from installation of YAMJ, mediainfo,
and yamj gui. If you followed the procedures shown here, show us   how you did it step by step. Where you downloaded medianfo also and what version the YAMJ and YAMJ gui. Hope this is not a lot to ask.

i followed yours & sir loniticz's directions step by step, kaso pag-appear nung mediainfo window parang nag-hang na.

so far ito naisip ko gawin:
1. try again tonight & hope everything works fine
2. uninstall yamj, etc. and redo from start. baka may mali sa installation. pero afaik i followed instructions to the letter.
3. replace all titles with imdb titles/codes before running My_YAMJ.cmd. baka nahihirapan mag-update sa internet pag iba title.
sana maayos...

any better/more worthwhile suggestions? tia

hi sir, i edited my reply above. if you could fill in the other questions i noted. will be much appreciated.

and ask ko lang why you replace all your titles with imdb codes. how did you go about this.
yes it may seem trivial that I would ask you to note down again your step by step procedure but
sometimes kasi when we encounter problems iniisip kaagad naten na napakalaki ng problem and
we think in advance. we don't notice na sometimes the problem pala is right infront of us. It may
seem repetitious but i would appreciate it if you would fill in those queries i noted above.

hi, just wanted to show an easy to setup Movie Jukebox for our
beloved egreat which I have been using since October. It has
had many revisions and the latest is version 1.0.17.  I will
be using in this guide the version 1.0.16 which I learned from
other forums that this has been their officially latest and
stable version.

Note: personally the version I still use as of this day is version
1.0.11 which was released around october of 2008. It had
no YAMJ GUI so every setup was text based on the command prompt.
I only used version 1.0.16 for this guide only.

Here are the installation instructions:

   1. Be sure to have Java installed in your system. If you don't have it yet
you can download it from here,

               http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp

   2. Download the YAMJ files from here,

               http://code.google.com/p/moviejukebox/downloads/list

http://code.google.com/p/moviejukebox/downloads/list
moviejukebox_v1.0.16 beta.zip

Create a New folder and name it YAMJ or any name you like
and extract them to a that folder in your PC.Do not create a sub-folder,
just extract it and it will create all the required folders.

C:\YAMJ

   3. Download Mediainfo from here

               http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=86862&package_id=90612

MediaInfo_GUI_0.7.11_Windows_i386.exe

just choose the appropriate package that suits your OS.
create a folder inside the YAMJ folder and name it Medianfo and extract the Mediainfo
              zip file there.

C:\YAMJ\MediaInfo

           4. download the YAMJ Gui from here

               http://omertron.com/pch/YAMJ_GUI_Config

and extract them inside the YAMJ folder

YAMJ GUI Config v0.43.zip

When everything else has been extracted, your folder would look like this

after extracting files i continued...

follow sir mrm procedure in installing the needed applications.

1.  then launch YAMJ GUI Config (mine is version 0.43). DONE
2.  connect your external drive to your computer. DONE
2.  set the "location of your movie directory to scan" to the folder where your movie files are located
     - kung external drive gamit mo ok lang, point mo lang dun sa drive and folder nung mga movie files mo. DONE
3.  then set "my video file are on" to "a USB drive attached to the NMT" and select "USB_DRIVE_A-1". DONE
4.  set "Location where you want the jukebox to be stored" to the directory where you install the application. DONE
5.  click "Add" then click "Save". DONE

6.  the open the directory where you install the application. DONE
7.  My_YAMJ.cmd file should be present, double click on that file and wait. THIS IS WHERE I GET STUCK. after clicking My_YAMJ.cmd it ran up to "updating data for:" then a mediainfo window appeared and just stayed there.
8.  the application will create the "index.htm" and "Jukebox" folder.
9.  when done, copy "index.htm" and "Jukebox" folder to the root of your external drive.

i uninstalled everything and redid from the start (download/install) but got the same result. NEED HELP!

hi sir, I think this is where you got confused.

    you said you download this:

                  "MediaInfo_GUI_0.7.11_Windows_i386.exe"

this is the wrong version. you have to download the zip file format as mentioned in the instructions

   3. Download Mediainfo from here

               http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=86862&package_id=90612

just choose the appropriate package that suits your OS.
create a folder inside the YAMJ folder and name it Medianfo and extract the Mediainfo
              zip
file there.

download the one that says "without installer". that is the zip file. the file you downloaded is the
full version which is an executable file. the zip file which is mentioned in this guide is the command
line version and that is the one needed. try downloading it again sir and this time select the
     "withoutinstaller" file.

Hope this resolves your problem and sir olats too.
