here is my DIY log on my HT project. pag pasensyahan nyo na

after reading post here at pinoydvd and KAC (home theater thread)ito na naging resulta.
June 18,2009
we went to this av store para syang SM Appliance center, nag tingin ng home cinema 5.1 system.  plan was to look for a receiver and separate components, nakakita naman kaso di kaya ng budget. nakita namin yon onkyo receiver with 5.1system. meron syang kasamang microphone to measure the acoustics of the room and ito na din magtotono ng sound that best suits for the room. doon napagisipan namin kung paano gagawin sa living room namin to change it to HT/living room.

ito muna how our small living room looked like before.

pag uwi namin binaklas na namin yon part ng built-in cabinet.

June 20
after work, bought carpet tiles(not for flooring) and led light.
here it is with some carpet tiles already sticked on the wall

the hole is where the led light will go.

here is it now after all the sides where carpeted.

placed our old tube tv just to see how it will look like. (notice those 3 lights?)

here is the view of the small space.
plan is to just re-arange the sofa to face tv  when we will watch movie(s). liit talaga ng space.

june23
finished the lower left part of the cabinet. extra muna ko. me at work

here is how it is. removed a tile  para sa pag kakabitan ng lcd holder

decided to get the lcd tv from our bedroom and mounted it on the wall

yan muna for the meantime. update ko kayo ulit.
tell me what you think. suggestions are welcome.

salamat sir! madali kasi yon kasi may pangkapit na sa likod so dikit na lang ng dikit. madali din i-cut.  di naman masyado halata yon pinag-dugtongan except kung talagang lalapitan. tsaka if i am not mistaken sound absorver din ito kahit papaano.

try to measure the clearances on where you are going to put the screen and the pj. para swak sya once you set it up. hope the pj you chose has lens shift to center the image of the screen without using keystoning. the height on where you are going to put the projector is also critical.

depends on where you will put your screen, kung yung screen is as low as the black part of the tv wall, medyo mataas yung cabinet, but if the screen will be installed higher (matatakpan yung mga cabinet above the blackened wall, then pwede. the pj you selected is a native 4:3 projector with marginal lenshift and non-hdmi. so may limitation sya for movie watching and you will have to use component cable for it, i say the lensshift is maginal because you can only adjust by 8 degrees so pag hindi eksakto yung measurment mo you may have to use keystoning which is not advisable. anyway. pag nabili mo na screen. tapos tingnan natin uli. but for 2.8m you can get 80" 4:3 screen with this sony.

parang ganito.

mga sirs, can this be corrected? or result ito kasi sobrang taas ng pinagpatungan ko? HELP

Experiment.

Regarding sa telang screen, I wouldn't recommend that. Kunin mo yung at least 70-90" screen para siguradong widescreen ka, yung 50" square yun so 4:3 ka at maliit for a PJ.

what you experienced (trapezoid) is the effect of the pj being placed very high, now, the only way to remedy it is if your pj has a good lensshift, but as i said, the sony pj you chose has only 8 degrees of lens shift. so its really marginal. so the only way for your to fix the trapezoidal shape of your projected image is to use the keystone feature of the pj, which in ht rules is highly discouraged. because keystoning degrades the original image as what the source wants it to be. but since you have already acquired the pj (unless you can return it for the right pj). then you have to live with the result.

regarding the screen, as sir froot said, the best screen is still the commercial ones, try to research, to find the most cost effective material for you, but if you want to really go diy, try to find blackout cloth in vienna. this material is quite neutral and can be utilized as a pj screen.  ;D

BOC-black out cloth.

wag lang "new equipment"?

new house kaya?  ;D

the way I see it, overkill ang PJ sa viewing distance mo amigo. sakto lang ang 42" - 50" flat tv dyan. hope i din't disappoint you.

Nice setup  :). Im sure house guests will be impressed just by looking at it and all the more if you fire it up. suggestions from me which should be taken as a grain of salt:

- remove the cabinet at the back (thats an extra 1 to 2 feet viewing distance)
- position the seats way back.
- install PJ sa ceiling (utilize a mount kit)
- relocate rear surrounds
- looks like there is a window at the back..utilize a thick curtain (2 layers) with blackout cloth as the filling. This will make the PJ usable in broad daylight

@praktikal: naku sir tama nga kayo. over kill nga, kahapon nanood kami ng bourne identity, di namin kinaya kasi ang bilis ng movements. sa lcd na lang kami nanood, i´ll consider putting the lcd a little lower siguro di kasing baba ng suggestion mo sir mga hanggang doon lang sa center speaker. salamat sa suggestion mo. sir praktikal. pa photoshop naman to lower the lcd  na parang nakapatong sa  center speaker. salamat

@synchro_01: naisip din po namin alisin yon cabinet kaso iniisip pa din namin kung saan ililipat. i´ll consider your suggestion sir sa mount kit for PJ pag naalis ko yong cabinet at may nakita ako mahabang mount kit, i´ll go for it. salamat sa suggestions sir. will be considered.
