Hello po,
its my first time here in PinoyDVD. Im on the process of building our home theater room. Would like to start with your suggestions on what speaker and receiver best for my budget. Thank you in advance.
-
Sir,
With regards to speakers, are you planning going 2.1, 5.1 or 7.1 set up?
-
Wow that was fast! preferably 7.1. But i hear about this Atmos thing that my sales agent is presenting. i dont know if the budget permits.

Wait for DTS to release their version. I think it's out na though I dunno kung anong receiver na ang nag-adopt.
-
If you're planning in adopting to Dolby Atmos, DTS X or Auro 3D I think the 150K would be ok for a 5.1.2 Atmos set up. As what Konsi Nelson said, wait a little muna for the DTS X ;)

any suggestions on speakers and receivers? thanks

Sir
Saan mo plan ilagay ang setup mo sa bahay? Multi room or dedicated?

Honestly because for me, value for your money siya. Very powerful ang class D amplifcation ang mga elite nila. Tweakable pa ang EQ etc, pwede pang i-copy ang results. Very versatile. Ang hinahanp ko lang sa kanya is never pa ata silang naglabas ng meron sub EQ.

Any speaker suggestions?

can anyone suggest speakers and receivers all in 150k budget?
thanks

suggest that you audition several speakers and receivers in several audio stores so that you can compare them and then make a decision based on your own preference. with 150k in budget, those audio stores will be more than willing to help you.
-
Madami pwede i-suggest pero maganda decide on your budget..
Magkano budget mo for the receiver?
Ano gusto mong main speakers -- Floorstanders, Bookshelves, or Satellites?
Magkano budget mo for the speakers?
Magkano budget mo for the subwoofer?
Ano size ng room (LxWxH)?
-
korek ka jan sir. :)
TS should be more specific with his question, because it is too broad.
the facts stated are only the following:
1.total budget 150k
2. preferably 7.1
yun lang.
-
150k budget for Home theater speakers and receiver.
i guess to be specific:
1. 2 Floor stander 3way
2. 1 center speaker
3. an active subwoofer
4. 2 surround speakers.
5. a receiver capable for all the speakers mentioned.
I think 5.1 would be ok. Does not really matter on how we appropriate the budget on each speakers and a receiver as long as the 150k budget fits the whole system cost.
The budget does not include installation cost, wires, power supply, etc... Just HT speakers and a receiver.
Thanks much.

anong estimated dimension of the room?
-
anong estimated dimension of the room?
an estimate. 4x6 meters and 10feet height.
-
For a 4 meter width ng room, i would suggest a good bookshelf and a big center speaker.

Spend 60K sa Onkyo 838 (big fan of Onkyo 8 and 10 series although I had to deal with some issues - na hopefully ay solved na ng Onkyo sa latest models). I think SVS sub would cost you at least 30K? (check with Mike C).
That leaves you 60K for 5 speakers - sufficient leverage I think for good tall-boy fronts and center. Maluwag ang 24sqm so kailangan mo ng power. Puedeng tipirin ang surrounds IMO. I know you have been shouting at us to give you very specific models pero kung sa speakers, wala rin ako mabigay. But with that budget, you should have nice options already. I just don't know kung gaano kataas ang level that would satisfy you.
Room treatment is a separate budget ne?
What's your current HT system if I may ask? And Im wondering, you are considering a 300K set of speaker (only) pero 150K ang budget sa full HT equipment?
Actually, maganda na yang 150K budget for HT...wag kalang makikinig sa ubod ng mahal ng mga HT set-up because marami pang mas mahal or imamahal. :D But that's coming from someone na nanonood lang ng downloadable stuff - at the highest available quality though - hindi nga lang ma-decode ng current AVR ko ang ATMOS ;D.
-
There is a 5.1 ht system package - Polk Audio (Rti A7, Csi A6, Fxi A4 & DSW Pro 660) + onkyo 636 + ryan play on hd3 = 167,460...baka may discounts pa sa Audio Excellence
Or go for B&W 600 series S2 for the speakers (684, 686 & htm62) = 95,800...may discounts pa siguro yan, yung balance for your receiver and sub.
Audition first so you will know if a particular ht system will work for you. Your operative word should be "Preference".
-
With that budget, it seems that you're more than casually just setting up a room to be a HT.
Having said that, don't forget to invest in acoustically treating the room as well. :)

Thank you for prompt reply.
I don't have a current HT system. But I am a long time car audio enthusiast. Honestly, I have zero know how on HT systems. My 150k budget challenge (for myself) is just to determine if we can achieve a decent system that a casual person can appreciate on an HT system. I posted a query on the other forum topic about the 300k speaker because I wondered wether the offer is bang for the buck. I know it's hard to invest a low to mid end equipment if your ears are already attuned to more higher end speakers, but I really wanted to stick with the 150k budget. 150k because I understand that I need to treat my room acoustically, pay for installation cost, professional fee for consultancy for room treatment, wires, power supply etc... I understand that these present probably 30-50% to achieve proper and correct performance of the HT system. These comments are based on my car audio experience. I don't know if these principles hold true with Home Audio.

I will look for these in the Internet sir. Thank you for the suggestion. Really appreciate it.

sir kung car audio enthisiast ka, di ka matutuwa sa mga 50k below na 5.0 speaker set! sbi nga ni mbtorn, preference mo na lang tinatanong. definitely yung satifaction mo sa car audio eh lilipat mo lang sa loob ng bahay mo. so its gonna be expensive....more than your 150k, unless di ka ganun ka seryoso sa HT.
-
F I WR U, focus on looking for a good pair of bookshelf stereo speakers first, 50k agad. Para kung mag audio ka man, covered ka na agad. 30k minimum budget agad sa subwoofer. Very important ang sub sa HT, pwede rin integrate sa stereo mo. Another 30k sa receiver, tested dapat sa speaker mo. Get the center with the same model as your bookshelves. Yung surround speakers, kahit cheap but decent sounding.
Yung sa akin
Front and center speakers: Dynaudio
Receiver: Marantz
Sub: SVS
Surrounds: Cerwin Vega
Puro second hand, costs approximately 140k. Kung brand new siguro lampas 200k.

Sa akin naman baliktad. Masmadaling ma-satisfy sa home audio because easier ang speaker placement, room acoustics and speaker distance.

Most the audio stores are here in PDVD. Check their posts in the marketplace and under home theater/general/audio-video stores.

master eh sino ba naman ang di masasatisfy sa gears mo eh mas mahal pa sa auto yang mga yan.... ;D ;D

I share the same sentiment. Not to mention that car audio gears that give home level sound are expensive.
Sorry for the OT. Natuwa lang ako sa comment kasi this thought has been lingering on my mind
-
yap, mas mahirap nga isatisfy ang car audio because of several factors like the engine noise, sound of environment while running, limited space of the car, and limited power of the car battery.

I would agrew with sir nelson as well. Hehe. Im also a die hard car audio enthusiast before. My last set-up is similar to sir nelson, full seas ref-zapco-p90. It was professionally tuned and very happy with it. When i paid a visit to a shop in glorietta, i auditioned a dali speaker paired with a harman kardon. Price of which is less than half ofy car audio gears. I was blown away by the sound! Malayong mas maganda sa oto. I went to another shop, i tried psb image b6 and was again amazed! Nahilo nako and from there, i started building my el chepo, basic home audio system. Not to mention, i retired from car audio last year. Hehe

Yep wala ka na kasi magagawa sa kotse, isa lang talaga ang listening position niya and that's the drivers seat (unless may driver ka, dun mo I-optimize kung saan ka uupo). You only have inches to move the speakers and most of the time, no way to move the speakers.
On that note, what I do is increase the volume of the right speakers so balance ang left and right with respect to the drivers position, and medyo malakas sa likod kaysa harap. So the driver always has the sweet spot.
-
mga sir maka singit lang, yung mga receiver na dolby atmos na, ok kaya sya partneran ng bose accoustimass 10 series 5 ? salamat
-
Sali ako sa pangungulam >:D ;D ;D ... Kung ako ang may 150,000 pesoses, I would buy the best 2.1 my budget could buy, kasama na ang 7.1 receiver. I will not limit my system to 5.1 kasi baka later on aambisyonin kong mag upgrade to 7.1. Then, later on na yung center and surrounds para may pag iinitan pa ;D ;D

sir Nelson, loyal ka talaga sa Pioneer... :)
