Nice set up Weng! :) Very classy.
thanks sir. para dito sana yung altlantic tech sub mo ;D ;D.
gramaphone

NICE! 8)
nice set-up, congratulations....
may i suggest that if you are not using pin(round type) plugs, you can change your socket outlets to the flat types..... ;D
thanks sir tony,
you can change your wall outlet to 3prong type, ime those type outlets does not make good contact and sometimes they spark when plugging in.......
you mean change the wall outlet socket sir? i still have a spare 3-prong socket that can be placed in exchange of the 2-prong universal wall socket. btw, i am using clipsal C-concept wall sockets all over the house. the socket fitting is tight and firm and are way better than royu ;D.
how about the extension outlet? it's only a cheap one. do u recommend changing the extension wires to 12ga thhn so i can replace the plug to a flat type? i still have leftovers but i can't find a good sleeve to cover the wire. i'm looking for a braided cloth, same as the sleeve of an electric iron cord. maybe i will canibalize our plantsa nalang ;D
yes, you can change the wall sockets to something better...i try to avoid extension cords wherever i can...another set of wall outlets will be even better....
thanks. the gramaphone is actually one of my wife's antique collection. she gave it to me to add finesse on my cheapo setup ;D
Congrats! Justa question though, where did you buy this?
I have been looking for one, thanks!
congrats sir.. nice and neat setup.. ang ganda naman sir nung haus nyo, mas mahalaga yun kesa sa mamahaling audio setup.. ;) ;D
Congrats! Justa question though, where did you buy this?bro, your phonograph rocks!!!!!....

bro, your phonograph rocks!!!!!....
hi jen, there is one genuine piece on sale sa greenhills tiangge area, 18 thousand php :)
Ganda ng bahay at set up mo sir Weng! ;D
thanks sir iiinaslao. i designed/installed the PABX phone, cable tv wires, LAN in all 4 bedrooms and av cables in the TV room during the construction of my house last 2006. thinking ahead that it will be cheaper to prepare now than pull apart the ceiling when time comes for a PJ setup. i did a mistake on the speaker provision thought 5.1 will be enough. now, having a 7.1 avr, the side surrounds wires are now exposed ;D. also, had a hard time figuring out how to layout LAN cables to 4 bedrooms and the TV room. but now, i bought a wi-fi modem/LAN so the wired LAN may not be used.
oo nga sir gnew, pansin ko nga sa side surround nyo. pero maliit na sacrifice lang yon (exposed wire) to fully enjoy your 7.1 ht!
wireless is the way to go, naka wifi na rin ako, then i added a linksys wireless repeater para fully covered ng signal yung house ko (3 floors kasi).
speaking of wireless, i hope the time comes that the wireless speaker technology really blossoms para we get the same results we get now from wired versions pero wireless, that will be the day! no more clutter! :D
Huwaawww!!!! Your house must be HD heaven!!!! Envy,envy,envy,envy....drool,drool,drool....
Nice setup sir. Hope to see your HTPC soon. ;D
wow!!!
very neat and nice set up.
congrats! ;)

pano ginawa sa ceiling yun?
BUMP! brader weng! ;D saan na yung bagong BOOM BOOM POW! ;D
nice setup sir! congrats sa new gears! :D
sir, you have a very nice place and gears and well placed and anticipated. may I suggest you have someone make a false back on the av rack so you can hide the wires... nothing fancy, just a piece of veneered plywood cut to the size of the space behind it. just make sure that it can be installed and removed with the equipments in place in case you need to add or remove some...
thanks sir, ganda rin setup mo.
Weng, when you use the SMS-1 mic, make sure that it is pointed as high up as possible. It is designed for "grazing incidence."

thanks sa tip.
wow! ganda! :o :o :o
2 tones, and darker on HT side.. ::) tama po ba? ... :D
neat house amigo! ;)
thanks sir junkie. no, the door finish is the same. kuha lang yan ng murang camera ;D ;D
ang galing brader Weng - congrats! ;D
Enjoying your sms1? ;)
my bro is planning to set up a simple HT. i offered him my wharfe evo10 BS for a start. since he is scouting for a wharfe evo center, i am contemplating on releasing my evo center and replace it with a new center w/ 6.5" woofers to match the evo30 FS.
i inquired sir anthony and he recommended his tablette center w/ 2x 6.5" woofer and vifa tweets.
can i easily timbre match the tablete center with the use of audyssey? i am also thinking of replacing the "plastic" DFS to a tablete dipole (if there is any).
what do you guys think, am i going the right direction?
Brader Weng - you also might like to post this question in the A-Audio thread or maybe the wharfe speaker thread - those with Wharfe and a-audio tablettes might offer their feedback.
During Anthony's last sale, I scored a tablette set for my gaming rig - the center speaker was the 6.5". Sayang nga i didnt get to test it kasi ang laki ng enclosure so I had it changed to the 5.5" version. But my L&R speakers remained 6.5".
thanks brader mac, i will post this on a-audio thread.
is the vifa a soft dome tweet? the wharf sports a soft dome tweets so it should have the same soft dome too on the a-audio center.
nice setup bro !
Ako sir weng, hula ko, isang ultra at 3 gramma or great gramma :)
By the look of the boxes, mukhang galing graceland... ;)
aba oo nga, m series na ba yan or sts 02 perhaps, sir weng?
hindi sir, no plans of upgrading to a FS. i am happy with the wall mounted speakers kasi space saving. in-upgrade ko lang ang grilles ;D
Congrats ulit! ;D
now, i heard a real 10-15 hz LFE. before with my dual DIY sub played at this freq, there is a sound coming from the sub driver. but with the ultra, the driver is very quiet but my room's ceiling, windows and doors are already rattling.
very clean, di na kelangan ibabad pa. kaya (tide) ULTRA ang gamitin nyo ;D
updated pics of my recent haul ;D
Congrats Weng! ;)
@obsi: thanks. i may let go the SMS-1 soon.
I'll be waiting ;D. BTW, daddy na ako! ;)
oi, congrats pala. be ready to wake up in the middle of the night to feed the baby ;D
I'll be waiting ;D. BTW, daddy na ako! ;)
Tide? Surf na lang muna weng. :D
naku mga braders my set-up is not worthy compared to the set-up posted here ;) shy ako ;D
brader von, no need to have an Ultra to show off your gears. sabi ni sir praktikal, kahit Surf pwede. ako nag post din dati kahit naka bareta lang at di pa powder >:D
haven't checked it yet as i have only sat on the sweet spot while listening to the demo disc. i can confirm the FR with the use of the SMS-1 at different seating position later. sa higher sub freq, may "K" din ang dual sub ko kaso lampaso ng ultra sa linis esp at lower LFE.thanks bro :)
congrats brader alfie on your baby :) :)
jami based on how mike c explained it to me, a dual PB12NSD will be beaten by a single PB13 Ultra in over all sound quality, yung sinasabi mong iba iba ang tunog ng bass sa lugar mo dining area you said, thats expected but again according to how i understood the explanation, this response is not caused by the subwoofer itself but by the room nodes, this is more of a distorttion rather than the LFE itself coming from the source given out by the subwoofer. location is very important as this will contribute to unwanted sound caused by the room boundaries and accoustic properties. subwoofer is not directional yes but proper location would mean a lot in achieving cleaner and unmuddy LFE.
even a dual PB13 Ultra or multiple Ultras may not sound the way it is supposed to if location, calibration and room treatment is not done the way it is supposed to be. not an expert sharing jami but just based on how i have understood things.
self restraint ba yan brader tirso? baka may birthday sale si mike na ultra ngayon with an offer that can't be be refused. mag dual na habang may bash amp ultra pa, para ready na sa new house mo >:D

I highly recommend as-eq1 ;D
did you hear a difference na?
I highly recommend as-eq1 ;Dika nga ni bro tirson, bullet day :D

napaka kisig naman niyan! woooooohoooooo! congrats brader weng!
Brader Weng - bakit nga pala nasa corner yung Ultra .........mas maganda ba ang response nya sa room mo?
checked the room FR using SMS-1
1. malakas ang sub output (around 35-60 hz) sa front right (opposite side of the sub)
2. malakas din at the rear right corner (opposite diagonally of the sub)
3. almost flat response in the middle, above the coffee table
4. not so flat response at the sweet spot (middle of sofa)
my question now sa mga experts is saan dapat e pwesto ang sub basing on the above results?
madali lang solusyon diyan.
naka-sideways yung ultra (para kita mo yung broad side nung gloss black) tapos dalawa sila para balanced look.
;D
too early? jk!
Baliktad yata ang ginawa mo. You should put the sub on the sweet spot (which means that you'll have to move your chair) and then umikot ka around the room, taking measurements with the SMS-1.
;D

tried to tweak the single band para eq of the ultra, walang effect sa FR. hirap nga mag tame sa room FR using the 8 band para eq of the SMS-1 kaya di na ako nag expect to achieve a result using 1.
ahh, yan pala is the correct way. sige i will try this one later pero may effect kaya ang sofa na ilagay muna temporarily sa other side of the room so i can place the sub in the sweet spot. or i need to move the sofa out of the room before checking the room's FR.
Suggest ko is iatras mo lang temporarily ang sofa and put your sub sa sweet spot. That's more practical and maybe more accurate kasi sa actual, nandun naman sa loob ang sofa.
i can push the sofa a bit to the back wall but the ultra will be around half the sweet spot and half the coffee table spot. i just hope that the flat FR is upfront, otherwise wala pa rin kwenta kasi no more space doon sa mga chairs. pwede rin sa sides ng sofa but the wiring will get messy.
madali lang solusyon diyan.

Ang galing ng ginawa mo. Yes, position #2 looks best.
Malaking tulong talaga SMS-1. The other way kasi to do that, without the SMS-1 is to crawl around the room and sense where the smoothest and deepest bass is. Mahirap yun.
new sub position. FR using the built-in single band para eq of the Ultra.
Congrats brad Weng on your pure SVS set-up! Kelan PJ? ;D
That FR looks really flat to me. Using the SMS-1, you can probably achieve almost ruler flat. Swerte pa cuz it looks like the sub position is aesthetically ok.
Tama si Mike about sub position. It should theoretically have been raised to ear level while the mic was at sub level. However, try to raise the 150 pound gorilla Ultra and then patong mo sya sa sofa. ;D ;D
Mukhang perfect naman ang results. :)
new sub position. FR using the built-in single band para eq of the Ultra.
will further tweak the FR using the SMS-1's 8-band parametric equalizer. hope to achieve a ruler flat graph.
naku!

atsaka mahal din paint job niyang gloss black
Very nice HT you got there.
It is well though out, neat & organized. Hope I can make mine like this too :)
Hehe. This is so true. ;D
very nice HT setup sir congrats
pwede ba humiram ng sub? :)

after calibration with audyssey at new sub location, it's the first time i've encountered that the SW attenuation was set to +5.5 db. the Ultra gain was set at 9 o'clock and x-over was by-passed. most of the time the SW is always in the negative range. the previous calibration was at -6db where the sub was placed at the far left corner.
the sub performance is awesome but i'm not comfortable baka sobrang HOT na ang setting. i don't have an SPL meter to verify it. i'm thinking of re-running audyssey kaso tinamad na ako sa ngayon ;D
nabawasan ang budget ko sa 8350 dahil sa ultra. ipon mode muna at saka wait for your review of the pj ;D
when darating ang pj mo doc?
i could relate to this brader weng
if i may share, i did 4 runs of audyssey last night and in all tries, im getting a +db level for the subwoofer the highest at + 3db, while I know the range is OK from -3db to + 3db, im not comfortable with the +3db result as all of my calibrations in the past gave me - db results. this is also the firts time I have gotten levels for the fronts and center ranging from -12db to - 10db, i dont know if sealing the rear ports of the RS6 has anything to do with it. getting a bit late already, i decided to give the result a try this morning instread, i was happy at how it turned out to be but just wouldnt feel comfy about the +3db sub level so i decided to lower it manually to 0db, on the other hand, i increased each speaker channel levels by 3 db, tried m and c and i was very happy with the result, sub gain is at 10 o'clock
now i have a better understanding of why the pb13 ultra is on top of the heap in the SVS line of subwoofers

That could be a factor.
Another possibility is that the sub is no longer located at a corner so it has lost around 3 db. On the other hand, as we've noted, the FR is much flatter at its present location.
Maybe try to run Audyssey MultEQ again very carefully and if the results are still the same, don't worry about it. The Ultra is very powerful and you'd have to be listening at crazy levels in order to break it.
On the other hand, I'm wondering what kind of protection the SVS subs have against being overdriven. I'm not sure.
officially, the 12.4, 12.5 and 13ultra woofers are "bullet proof" in terms of protection. that said, there's no sub out there that can't be overdriven. the best protection for subwoofers is still the user.
all the ported subwoofers have subsonic filters for their protection with the plus and ultra subsonic filter in the hands of the user (so responsibility of matching the port plugs and appropriate subsonic filter are the user's responsibility)
note that it's very possible to toast the woofer if the wrong subsonic filter is used.

yes, i replaced the LCR from SCS-01 to SCS-02. but not so sure if both series have different sensitivity.
the sub does not sound like it's going to get toasted. my concern is the sub may be way, way hotter than the rest of the speakers. tried FOTP and haunting a few times with the new settings but did not hear any distortion on the driver. but in effect my room is distorted, rattling ceiling and door ;D

I think this is pretty normal. The Ultra goes really deep so it will shake stuff that you didn't hear shaking before. The solution to that is to start looking for those individual rattling points and fix them one by one. It's not an easy nor a pleasant task.
sa center lang ang may pinagkaiba sir. remember your "01s" are actually 02's sans the grill.
will look into that soon. but is it safe to use a fixed tone to run for a long time?
nope, not safe, besides the fact each frequency will excite a different thing in your room.
i guess yung SMS-1 sweep will do the same job (at least in terms of 15-200hz)

will there be any benefit in raising the speaker attenuations after calibration compared to just leave them "as is" and raise the master volume instead?

Ok,good that you warned me.
SMS-1 tone does not cause any rattle on the ceiling at 70-80db level.haven't tried bumping up the volume though.
The most irritating sound on the ceiling is caused by a 40-60hz tone. Nag iingay ang metal ceiling joist. But at 30hz and below ang gypsum board na mismo.
i normally just raise the attenuation, parang di ako sanay na itaas ang master volume compared to my usual listening level but i raise all channel with the same level.
lately with the SCS speaker set, my master volume setting is at -17db to -12db when i'm watching alone. if few friends are around, it can go up to -10db to -5db (i raised this observation before on another thread that more people will dampen the sound). tried to bring the volume up to reference for a few times, no distortion was observed.
here's the question.
- if audyssey reference level the max safe volume you can use?
- if i will upgrade to a high powered receiver (ie. 135wpc, my current receiver is only 100wpc) what benefit will i get if my max listening setting is below reference?
- will the sound quality be better with the 135wpc than the 100wpc receiver below reference? baka ang benefit ko lang is watching the receiver's screen that it is stil -xx db instead of -5db of my current amp ;D

Reference level is not an Audyssey feature. It's the standard level at which movies are mastered and it's very loud. Reference level has no connection with safety. Your speakers or amps can blow at reference level, below it or above it - depends on your system. Hook up a tiny HTIB speaker and try to make it reproduce reference level -- sabog yun.
If the amp is not clipping, if it's not being stressed, then don't worry. You need a bigger amp if you have a huge and well-damped room, speakers with low sensitivity, you listen at very loud levels, etc.
The difference between 100 wpc and 135 wpc is negligible. You won't hear any difference in a blind test. If you spend a lot of money for your new amp and you don't do a blind test, you will swear that there is a huge improvement. ;D ;D
If you are thinking of an AVR upgrade, there are many other reasons for upgrading. Power is one of the tiniest reasons. Newer AVR's have much better features. By the way, @Gaol is selling his Denon 4310. ;D ;D
oh btw, i wanted the new front high feature of the new receiver ;D ;D ;D
Maybe you should check with sir Jao143 what his listening volume is with his Onkyo 608. Though I'm not sure if his speakers are SCS 01 (87db sensitivity) or SCS 02 (84.5db sensitivity).
i also noticed on my denon 2308 display, sometimes i can see "DTS -4db offset (or something)" flashing screen before a movie starts. is this normal? i could not find in the menu where to adjust it.
it crosses my mind to upgrade to a high powered receiver thinking it can do wonders about not going near reference. if it has negligible effect then i will just hold on to that upgrade. i'm using a media player as source so HD audio for me is not that important as i have only few BD rip files. also, it was proven before with the blind test about lossless and lossy audio that the difference is very minimal if there was any.
oh btw, i wanted the new front high feature of the new receiver ;D ;D ;D
onkyo has different volume setting than denon. the guy who bought my SCS-01 uses an onkyo 508 and he told me his volume is around 45-55 (0 to 80 range). his room is slightly bigger than mine, around 27 sqm (mine is only 25 sqm).
what is reference point in db, is it 75 or 80?
tama si sir mark re: wattage ... you need at least double the power ata to be able to distinguish an upgrade.
then again, like i computed before, anechoically and 4 meters away, 84db sensitivity
1w = 84db at 1 meter distance
2w = 90db at 1 meter distance
4w = 96db at 1 meter distance
8w = 102db at 1 meter distance
16w = 102db at 2 meter distance
32w = 102db at 4 meter distance
long term exposure to continuous 32watt input = hearing damage :) sa peaks lang naman natin kailangan yung mga high wattage. so if you need more power for SPL or SQ improvements, it's better to get an external amp with at least 200w.
BUT, ibang usapan na yan kung gusto mo ng front height and wide, si sir mark ang dapat tanungin kung alin ang masmalaki ang dagdag sa effect or if dapat pareho for 11 speaker channels. :)
There are lots of reasons for an AVR upgrade and power is one of the smallest reasons. If you need power, get an external power amp.
Some of the reasons to upgrade the AVR:
- Better room correction (say Audyssey MultEQ XT vs MultEQ only)
- Additional speakers (heights or wides) with Audyssey DSX
- Audyssey Dynamic EQ, which enhances bass and treble at volumes below reference
- Better GUI (the graphical GUI's of the higher-end Denons are much better and easier to use)
- Better video processing (newer Denons use the Anchor Bay chips which have a better performance than most other AVR's
- Better DACs
- Internet connectivity
- More HDMI inputs
hmmm... im not sure but with my onkyo 806, im also using the -db level for my volume, not sure with the 6 series.
for me:
mkv movies, listening volume is from -2.5db to 0db
bluray movies, listening volume is from -10db to 8db
my friend uses 508 and not 608 sir. haven't tinkered an onkyo receiver yet kaya i don't know why his volume was from 0 to 80 range.
are you always playing at -2.5db to 0db when watching mkvs? how big is your room brader? if so, i'm happy to know na may nag 0 db at di na ako kabado sa -5db volume ko.
yup. my room is 18 ft x 11ft x 8ft (height) approximately. yes, in my case mkvs audio encode seems to be a bit thin for my taste, and i have to use -2.5 - 0db to get to an acceptable overall sound quality. but for bluraydiscs. there are even movies (red cliff) that at -15db is already good enough for me.
thanks sa above info. aside from front height speaker, i also like feature #1 and #5 but can only be found on the high end models

Actually, when you don't listen at reference level, lalo na kung mga -12 db ka lang makinig, malaking bagay ang Dynamic EQ.The GUI is important if you do a lot of tweaking and so you access the menu a lot.
this is the feature that i like the most, at my listening level of 65db( maximum for my htrc180 is at 99db), i get the best sound quality im looking for. the LFE is just right to compliment the LCRs, i always get this activated everytime i watch, i have never breached the 65 db level anytime
by the way, the results of my calibrations may have been caused by my room size ( around 9 sqm only)versus the Ultra tuning of 10hz. I have consulted sir mike c and will revert to 15 hz tuning and re run audyssey again.

what db is your new sub setting after running audyssey?
brader tirso, what is the equivalent relative volume at 65db in relation to 0db as reference?
i will have to check for accuracy but i think its around -25 or -20db
the 0db is equivalnet to 82db absolute from my receiver( tama ba o nabaligtad ko yung aboslute at relative)

brader tirso & iiinas,
what's your audyssey speaker setting?
mine is:
left = -1.0 db
center = -2.0 db
right = -0.5 db
sur left = -2.0 db

Sir Weng,
Matanong ko lang po if you are using a tripod when calibrating using audyssey?
It's absolutely essential to use a tripod when calibrating with Audyssey. The best is to get a tripod for a boom mic so that the tripod doesn't sit on the chair when calibrating - kasi the chair might vibrate with the pings and this would affect the calibration. Meron akong nabiling ganung klaseng tripod sa Raon for P500.
Sir Weng,
Matanong ko lang po if you are using a tripod when calibrating using audyssey?
This doesn't really matter. The only important thing is that no speaker should have a trim which is at the limit of its adjustment. In the case of Denon, that means -12 db or +12 db. I think that Onkyo goes to +-15 db.
Congrats sir Weng!... :o

congrats sir weng, very nice upgrade :)
Congrats! How does the Onkyo perform compared to your former Denon receiver?

Wow! :o :o
ang kintab-kintab...
...ng sahig. :o
Kongrats!
;)
GNEW
The Wides have a better impact but the angle should be 60 degrees, not 45. The Heights are ideally at 45 degrees while the fronts should be 30 degrees, kaya mali ang proposed mo na location ng Heights kasi parang halos same angle as the fronts ang proposed mo.
Actually, for many people, the Heights are preferred kasi they can be mounted sa walls kaya they don't take floor space. Kung ako sa iyo, just make a choice depending on aesthetics and convenience.
EDIT: Actually, the theoretical ideal angle for the Wides is 55 degrees, not 60 degrees. Kung d pa kaya yun, whatever is the best possible compromise should do. The rules are not hard and fast.
sir mark, is the 55 degrees reference from the side wall? meaning the speakers on the side should be facing 55 degrees to the seating position? malabo yata description ko ;D
yun ba floor standers sa side ng setup mo ay front wide? aesthetically, i would prefer to install the front wide if the proposed side wall is feasible.
haven't tested yet coz my kids are busy playing with the xbox ;D just hooked it up this morning kasi.
obviously, the onkyo is louder at 135 wpc compared to the 100 wpc denon.
huweeooowwww!!! DANDA NG BAHAY MO SIR! nice set up u have...swak ung NR sa gamit mo sir....dami mo fronts pagnagkataon. ;)...haayzzzzzzzzzz! ::) ::) ::)
Simplest is to look at the chart here: http://www.audyssey.com/audio-technology/audyssey-dsx
Sit at the Main Listening Position. Make a virtual line to the center of the screen. Make another line to the wide speaker. The angle between those 2 lines should ideally be 55 degrees.
Yes, the FS sa side are the front wides. Ideally kasi, they should be full-range speakers. However, there's really no problem to use bookshelves, in combo with subs.
no prob sir Ruel..basta ikaw po, and i have promised to give u ur freebies once na may papauwi. sir, ilang meters/feet po ba ung 2 fronts ng set up kelangan nu?baka kc magpadala q,kapos naman pala.
nice upgrades! ;D ;D ;D
Nice new amp Sir! Ganda talaga black ;D This will surely make your speakers sing :o :o :o
ganda naman
conratulations sir weng.
sa case ko, i have no choice but to use the wide before, the wide made the sound more expansive, wider than the walls of the room, never really had the chance to test high kase happy naman ako sa wide, but eventually decided to remove it kase need ko na benta yung pang wide and save up for the ultra.
beautiful setup sir...cheers! ;D
Sir, where'd you get your wall mount?

Bought it at Mandaue Foam-Cebu. genuine leather on the seat, armrest and back rest while the rest is leatherette.
Sorry for my ignorance sir...but where is TheaterWorks?
TIA

Mega congrats!!!
Super ganda, cozy, elegant and relaxing environment ^-^
Musta na pala yung R6s? ;D
thanks brader louie.
masaya ako sa R6S, kaya lang and daming kakalikutin sa setup when watching a movie using R6S or bluray. once na dumating ang onkyo 818, it will make my layf easier. sa ngayon ako lang ang marunong mag operate kaya di nagagamit nila mrs dahil di nya alam anong pindutin sa dami ng remote controls ;D
Hehehehe... ;D
ako rin sinulat ko ang instructions sa index card at naka dikit pa sa wall. pero nung binasa nya, sabi kaagad na sa kwarto nalang siya manood ;D she does not really watch movies there. when visitors and friends want to see it in action, all she say is to wait until i get home. my 13 year old son knows how to operate them remotes but his off limits unless it's a weekend.

TIA.
i use 3/4" marine plywood then wrapped with a speaker box carpet. mga tira-tira ng cinema seat riser. as of now, styfo-like foam ng SBS-02 ginamit ko but if you look at it closely, the sub is tilting upfront due to the weight of the woofer. i will be changing the white styro foam with a mattress foam. i already talked to a foam dealer in my place and he have some tinge of those hard foam. may gray daw so parang gramma na tingnan ;D
thanks brader 3/4 pala medyo makapal hehe...
Awesome! i thought i was inside Tri-noma theater when i saw you seats. :D hehehehe up for you Sir!
Wow! HT magazine worthy brader Weng! Congrats!
Ganda ng setup nyo sir, tama c bro nerveblocker pang HT magazine :-)
Sir thank you so much for the mini EB. We really enjoyed your world.
Hehehe....
Sir Weng, i think that your :) ht should be published at What hi-fi or Sound & Vision Magazine! :D
If local maybe Speed or Gadgets mag. :)
I'm now torn between Optoma HD33 or Sir Tiens Panny PT AE8000 or SnS PT AE7000U, although it's just IN MY DREAMS! hehehe as of now. :) when i win the Mega Lotto i hope to have a simple p.j. setup.
Nice Ht may i know who constructed / installed HT?
Thanks sir. May i know where you bought you're Auralex Studio Designer Foam and how much? Thanks.mkc international (http://www.mkcinternational.com/pages/auralex_toc.html)
Hi!
Congrats nice setup.
I noticed in your gears list you put down your projection screen to be painted..what kind of paint did you use? and how is the performance of using paint versus the typical projector screen cloth?
Thanks sir. May i know where you bought you're Auralex Studio Designer Foam and how much? Thanks.
Sir weng baka you can share you cable management blueprint of your HT setup. I'll be using it as guide ... halos we have the same area kasi .. =)
I saw blank plates and binding post at online stores -- amazon etc. Any places where I can get them locally? Thanks.
Ive been thinking of the same thing brader. Either i use a long hdmi cable to connect to a tv or get a tablet or small display. Onkyo app for ipad sucks big time....
master nelson, mas tamed na ang sound with the tiles on but may konting echo pa rin prolly from the ceiling.
congratzie hang ganda
Napa NGA-NGA! ako..... ;D ;D ;D
Thanks bro! Dagdagan ko pa ibang items hehehe!
Wow ibang iba na itsura ng room since the last time Emman and I were there, Ganda bro!
bro weng kappa ba yung isang sub?
first noticeable improvement ng carpet tiles in my room is the sub's performance. the ultra is no longer boomy and the passage are more precise especially the midbass region. The ringing was reduced due to carpet tiles. Good work bossing! ;)
Patong lang ba yung carpet tiles? Are those readily available from Edrel or a one off batch?
The ringing was reduced due to carpet tiles. Good work bossing! ;)
yes sir, patong lang talaga sa existing tiles. just check the photo in page 1. nilinis ko lang ang floor para walang dumi na ma trap sa ilalim ng carpet tiles. PM edrel, he may have some stocks available for your requirement.
the rubber under layer of the carpet tile is just like the under layer of a 3M NOMAD car mat but the rubber material is more sturdier. it has the same anti-slip property of a NOMAD car mat kaya no adhesive required pag tiles ang patongan.
Nice...
I've been thinking kasi of making my flooring carpet also.
Ayoko lang din kasi yung gagamit pa ng adhesives, very messy and nakakapagod maglagay ;D
Yun nga lang I'm not sure kung kakapit din yung rubber backing nya sa wood...
kakapit yan, IMHO. if you have a 3M NOMAD car mat, e try mo sa wood flooring. di naman talaga tatakbo, i tried to push it with my foot. once you install 2 or 3 tiles, you can no longer push them, or even with one tile mahirap e push. the carpet tile dimension is 50 cm so it is easy to lay out in a room.
Mukhang perfect for my needs yung carpet tiles. Thanks.
bro weng, gawin mo na sealed yung kappa! :D
i can put a temporary plug sa port just to try it. pero malakas ang midbass ng kappa, IME. need to put an inline LPF so it won't pass LFE below 30hz para midbass lang sya.
[/quotewill you use your velo sms?
Nice Set-up sir!
btw, where did you purchase the mickey rubber mats? might do the same for my nephews room..haha.. sorry for the non-HT related inquiry.. :)

will you use your velo sms?meron naman sa mp nung svs counterpart hehehe
i sold my SMS-1 already. baka simple F-Mod filter or ED eQ.2 lang.
congrats sir for this excellent set-up! :)
Cozy na yung room Weng, Great touch-up! ;)
Kelangan na ba i-update? Hehe!
Sir weng where did you get the carpet tiles? And how much. Ty
yo weng, tac na ako bukas, kitakits :)
Hi sir weng can you post a link of sir edrel for the carpet tiles. I can'ts seem to find it.
nice setup sir :)
salisi nanaman tayo
just happened to stumble upon this thread. congratulations sa carpet upgrade. sulit byahe ko sa south seas baclaran!

Weng ma-mount mo ba sa sub enclosure yung NU3000? Fathom na Fathom.
Nice bro Weng...
Ready na for the diy JL Fathom subwoofer ^-^
sir weng just like to ask feedback on the SVS speakers? How are they for movies - games and music?
ikabit na ang 12W7's! ;D

Even 500W will get very nice, clean output as a home theater or music subwoofer.
As a theater sub, I'm slightly concerned about your proposed 20 Hz tuning frequency. For 99% of material this will be just fine, but there are a handful of very demanding soundtracks that are plumbing the depths of bass well into the 10 Hz region. This can cause distress to a vented sub tuned to 20 Hz if you don't apply some protection to it in the form of an infrasonic filter (basically a steep, 24dB/oct. high pass filter just below tuning). You could also play around with your box alignment and try to cheat the tuning a little lower. If you can get it down to 15 Hz, you will probably be safe. It might cost some box volume to keep it flat, but if that's acceptable you will have a pretty spectacular subwoofer with absolutely subterranean response.
Unlike a car, we don't get a lot of help from the room (although we do get some at very low frequencies) in a home setup. In a small room, you can expect some lift below 30 Hz and you should take that into account in your sub's response if you can. In a larger space (like an open plan house) the response will be much flatter so the sub needs to do all the work down low.
Placement of a subwoofer is also hypercritical in a home setup. The space is large enough for modal behavior to occur in the sub-bass range and the placement of the sub and the listening seat(s) is critical. Using multiple subs, distributed around the room, is really the only way to get smooth bass over a large seating area, but good results can be achieved for one or two seats with a single sub if you experiment with placement and use some judicious (CUT ONLY) equalization.
You're never going to get the visceral sub-bass you get in car audio, but a well-executed home subwoofer system can take any home speaker system to an entirely new level of performance and is a very worthwhile project.
Have fun.

so, i'm leaning towards a ported cabinet tuned to 20hz kasi sabi ni kuya manville of JL na kahit 500 watts RMS sapat na. at may spare 2nd channel pa ako sa iNuke amp na pwede kabitan ng another W7 in the future >:D
Brader Weng swak na yang Ported Enclosure tuned at 20Hz...
Si PB13-Ultra mo na bahala sa 19Hz and below ^-^
yan iniisip ko brader kahit di sila same brand pero almost near ang FR nila. and while waiting to get another W7, i can build a sealed cab for the infinity kappa to work as a midbass driver. i have a miniDSP to tweak the subs to flatten their room response.
Great!!!
Kaabang abang itong project mo brader.
Kapag meron ka talagang proper EQing materials you could combine different brand and subwoofer models...
Dual JL 12W7!!! :o
Order kana brader >;D

very nice DIY screen sir! :)
Congrats bro! :)
Nice DIY cinewhite screen Weng. I guess this is the same material Elite Screen uses for their cinewhite screens. How much total for the setup?

bro may pros and cons or should i say out weight ba ng PROS yung cons ng new screen?
technically pala bro walang CONS :)
mapapasyalan ko rin yan ;D
Thanks doc, but i'm not from negros.
very nice DIY screen chief! if you don't mind please PM source of screen and price. thanks very much!
thanks bro.
have you received the goodies already?
thanks doc. yes, they are the same PVC material elite screen uses according to the gurus of AVS forum.
total cost including shipping of screen material by air is around 6.5k pesos. it would come out cheaper if i had it shipped via ocean freight. but it won't reach home while i'm on days off. so time is money, haha!!
Hi Weng, just browsed your thread, you've come a long way & an inspiration to any DIYer. Great set of gear - congrats.
for everyone's info, i bought the screen material from Carl's Place
http://www.carlofet.com/projector-screen-material.html (http://www.carlofet.com/projector-screen-material.html)
FlexiWhite and FlexiGray materials can be shipped folded. the rest can't be fold and requires to be rolled in a tube.
you can also buy them from amazon with free shipping to US address. Carl's Place can also ship to PH but i chose my suki'ng air freight courier in NY. shipping was only 1350 pesos to manila. the material weighs 6 lbs with shipping box dimension of 12x14x3.5 inches.
HTH for anyone who wants to DIY a projector screen :)
Hi OBR,
Thanks for your kind words. I frequent your thread to see the work in progress. You have a very impressive gear list and especially a big TV.
By the way, I live near you. I am from Ormoc City, Leyte just a 2-hr boat ride from Cebu.
Cheers,
Weng
same pala tau source ng material sir. For now nakatambay pa. Got it for mga 2k lang.
Waray din pala kau sir. My mother is also waray. Relatives ko nasa Tacloban and Maasin(?).
I not quite sure how long it will be until I have a room I can start working in, I'm guessing another 2 - 3 months. The waiting is killing me, also waiting to hear about my residents visa (they say next week) so I can ship my container.
Thanks for the compliments on my gear, the 85" Panny was not a scheduled upgrade. I popped into my Cambridge audio supplier to sort out the 851C & Performance 6's. Have a look in the demo room they said, my reply was "it's awesome but also awesome money" then they hooked me. How about we give you a discount (it related to around P900K), my reply is unprintable but had to make a phone call later in the day for them to reserve it for me. It was taken straight to the shippers so I haven't switched it on yet. I will probably get it calibrated so that be another job added to the list when all the kit is up & running.
That's handy being that close maybe we can meet up. From your thread I take it you work in the Middle East so only have 10 days leave every so often. PM me & we can arrange something.
3 months is just around the corner, you will get there eventually. i work in thailand on rotation of 4 weeks ON/4 weeks OFF in ormoc. been to the middle east (dubai) only for a holiday in the middle of my time off. i always go to cebu during my time off. maybe we can arrange some time to meet up with the rest of the PDVD cebuano members.
Weng nice on the DIY screen you did not consider Phifer Sheerweave 4500 which brader louie use on his DIY screen.
Nice to hear your family is ok.
thanks bro GIJoe.
i do not have the need for an AT screen in my setup. got the flexiwhite from Carl's Place as the material can be shipped folded and had it on time kasi pina airfreight ko.
http://www.carlofet.com/projector-screen-material/sheerweave-projector-screen-raw-material.html?options=cart
yes meron sila but i do not know if it can be shipped folded. at least pag folded cheaper ang airfreight kasi maliit lang ang package. rolling the material on a tube naman di masyado malaki pag volume e compute pero baka iba ang rate sa freight.
the screen material cost only $69 at Carl's thru Amazon. shipping to manila via FRS was 1340 pesos then pina LBC ko sa ormoc which cost me an additional 350 pesos.
if only you do not need an AT screen, the flexiwhite/gray are the same material used by elistescreen cinewhite/grey
elitescreen sells material but they are cut to fit their EZ and Sable frame, yata. unlike Carl's, they have oversize cuts to give you room for screen sizes up to 150" diagonal for the material i bought.
bili ka nalang ng ready made elite 4k screen. i bought a 100" elite sable frame screen for emman2008 before. seafreight thru forex cost only $80 to manila but it took around 6 weeks to reach our place.
how do you plan on shipping it to the country? check mo lang ang product box dimension para ma inquire mo ang shipping cost sa mga courier.
Hey Weng, I'm relieved to hear you are relatively ok. Same with Boyracer.
OBR and Denton,
Thanks for the concern. My family are fine and safe in Ormoc although there are damages to the house which everyone suffers. I am out of the country and was not at home during the typhoon.
OBR, how bad was the weather in Cebu during the storm?
Hey Weng, I'm relieved to hear you are relatively ok. Same with Boyracer.
Hi Weng missed this post, a truck took out our telephone line yesterday on top of the 4 days for Yolanda so no phone or internet for another 24 hours, OK now. I think Yolanda passed over the northern tip of Cebu but we had high winds & lots of rain for 5 hours. Anything weak or loose no longer exists but no damage at all to our unit or the house site. Very fortunate, as my nephew says 'mother nature has not been very kind to you Unc.'. Thank the Lord.
Sorry to hear the news bro. At least your family is safe. Who knows what could have happened kung yero yung bubong at nilipad lahat. Keep safe bro.
Mabuti naman bro at wala nasaktan.
you are so lucky OBR. my house had a bit of share from yolanda's wrath :(
broken glass and roof tiles were scattered everywhere. imagine how strong the wind was, it blew 2 whole windows off the wall. thought it was only broken window panels but seeing the whole frame came off was unbelievable.

Hi Weng seeing your pictures makes me realise just how fortunate we were. The good thing is no structural damage (I hope) but it is much inconvenience until repairs are completed. Hopefully the surrounding homes & countryside will recover quickly. The roof tiles I'll be using for my house are quite large & weigh 5KG each, it doesn't bear thinking about the consequences of the damage they would cause. Hoping all your repairs get done fairly quickly.
this is now my view of ormoc city. before there were so many trees that blocked the view.

roof tiles became a flying projectile breaking my truck's windshield and my neighbor's brand new trailblazer windshield too >:(

my house, on top of a hill took all the brunt of yolanda's strong wind.

OBR,
will start the roof repairs when everything stabilizes in ormoc. the roof will not leak, there are galvanize sheets laid under the tiles. will start with the glass window repairs first and will get them from cebu as ormoc business is still not fully restored yet.
this was my view of the city before.

Wow! Yun JL mo resurrected?
Bakit ang laki niyan? Akala ko size ng F112 ang gagawin mo.
Yes, sir Nelson.

Very nice plan Weng.
Bro Weng anong amp at subwoofer pre-amp ang pinang DRIVE mo dyan sa JL mo? TIA! ^-^
sir weng nindota sa emung set up
Hi Weng, good to see your back in business.
hi OBR,
yeah, i'm getting back on my feet now (HT-wise). did not have much time logging in while at home due to crawling internet speed. now, i'm back at work so more time on pdvd :)
I know the feeling well Weng, no phone or internet for 5 weeks then we get a repair that lasts 1 week then down for another week. so I'm catching up with everything.
How's the house repair going ?
the house repair is slowly taking shape except for the roof. the secondary roof (galvanized sheets) are still intact and kept us dry. will start the roofing works next month once the materials are ready for shipping from cebu.
The waiting is a real pain but at least the repairs are on their way albeit slowly.
we're short of construction workers due to many repair works going on at the same time. some even hire workers from nearby places like cebu. also, the material cost sky rocketed from the local hardware. but now slowly trickling back and hoping the price will normalize soon.
Be safe. New typhoon is brewing.
Hi Weng, long time no hear, have you done all your repairs yet ? Hope this new typhoon doesn't aggravate your situation.
hi george,
yes, got the roofs fixed last month.
hoping the typhoon diverts its course upwards. or if ever it makes landfall it won't be as strong as haiyan.
Good to hear your repairs are done & hope you don't incur too much damage with these new storms. I'll be able to see how my house stands up before we move in :)
good luck to all of us who are on the direct path of the storm
Keep safe, Weng and OBR!
kala ko yan yung bahay nyo sir.....he he he...keep safe sir ingat ingat...sana nga lumihis...kawawa naman yung mga kamaganak ko sa tacloban and maasin
1 DSP for all 3 subs?
Keep safe, Weng and OBR!
Naku, hindi storm ang threat. Earthquake!
an update of my system late last year.

IMO, the Darblet is worth every penny especially with the newly discounted price. dunno why i waited this long to get it. image quality on the 120" screen dramatically improved. the sharpness i used to see on my 50" plasma is now back and enjoying it on a larger screen :)
Hi Weng,
Good to see you back in HT mode & your gears are looking fine ;D.
BTW I like the idea of the shutters but for me would be for security purposes, something for me to look at once the dust has settled.
How's your JL project's performance? Is that the final box or your old one?
Hi OBR,
I'm not that active anymore. Only found out a good deal online. My kids are currently the ones utilizing this setup :)
Hi Weng, I see from your vinyl that we have a similar taste in music.
How are things going with you ?
Hi George,Yes I am busy but not as busy as I have been over the last couple of years. My problems started September 2019 so no proper audio for at least 9 months. After deciding to move the audio system all the gear was moved downstairs waiting for me to sort the room out. The XSP-1 arrived November last year, that was the 1st item on the list, the last being the XPA-DR2 which arrived 3 weeks ago. It was hard work for me but I enjoyed it especially when I heard the difference in the sound. It was also a bonus the gear coming in dribs & drabs, I was able to hear the difference each piece of gear made.
Love the 80s music. Good to know that we both listen to music of the same era :)
I'm back reading forums and tinkering with my audio gears since I am most of the time at home.
Read your posts the other day. I guess you are very busy with your new stuff 😉
Cheers
