i use a Tannoy Mercury V4 floorstander with a Yaqin MC100B integ amp for music listening. Very happy with my speakers; i went through a long process of auditioning and selecting several speaker brands, also making some costly mistakes along the way. I purchased other brands and screwed around with vintage ones, but ended up selling them until i settled (for now) with Tannoy.

At its price point and performance, it is a good buy. The highs sparkle but are not fatiguing, while the lows are generous but well-controlled. Excellent performance for vocals as well. In a relatively large room, the speakers sound expansive and seemingly disappear. For a sensitivity of 91dB, your amplifier will not strain to drive these speakers.

I also believe it was voted best FS speakers in 2011 by What HiFi.

Thanks for all your replied!  :)

Sir, I went to SM appliance yesterday and auditioned the TannoyMV4...
setup was just stereo left n right only, no sub, surround and center off...
Using Yamaha AVR set the audio settings to dafault bass n trebble...

Then I asked the saleslady to play acoustic sounds....and it's a big WOW!
Sound is so clear and I can hear all the instruments. Bass is not punching my chest, mid and high are not annoying to my ear! I can say it was really a great speaker and design is elegant even without the covers... "HIGH FIVE!"  :D

Please share more about your listening experienced on TannoyMV4...
Thanks! :)

or agonizing :D

i am also a tannoy user using a Revolution Signature DC6T, made me a Tannoy fan, clean, clear and detailed sound, quite leaning towards the bright side while not being harsh on the treble, a little bitin lang sa bass para sakin kailangan pa din ng sub for my type of music. :)

was in SG a couple of months back, went to an AV shop in singapura plaza.  they were selling mid to  high-end audio products: marantz, pmc, AE, etc. and then out of my curiosity, i asked the store head (not in uniform but in jeans and t-shirt, maybe part owner) what's speaker do you use in your residence.  he shared with me, it's tannoy prestrige series and then he showed me the photo on his smartphone.  :o

purchased Mercury V1i book shelf speakers from Anson's in Trinoma. mounted them on the D.Y.I. metal stands offered for sale in the "Accesories" section. very pleased with their performance. bass enough for my taste (despite the small cabinets). Was actually auditioning the V4s for more than a month. Just had to accept that the floorstanders were too much a drain for my pocket.
overall, great sound for the price.
BTW, they are available in Anson's and Western, 5th Avenue and Avesco.

I borrowed an old Technics integrated Amp, now the sound of the V1's is warmer and very pleasing. Not like the "clinical" sound of the Yamaha. Now the bass seems deeper and more satisfying.
Maybe I will be bidding goodbye to the Wharfedale sub soon.

that's what you call matching and that's also why it is recommended to audition, audition and audition and listen with your ears and not with somebody else's.

happy listening bro.   :)

It's very common scenario that some of our fellow audio hobbyists, overlooked the electronics quality that processing the audio signal. And put the blame to speakers for not performing to their expectations...   :-\

I went and had my old Yamaha R5 receiver cleaned. A matter of blowing the accumulated dust away using a Black and Decker vacuum cleaner in reverse mode. Surprisingly, it began to work again. So I connected them to the Tannoy V1i's. Wow, they sound better than with the Technics amp. The sounds float in the air, bass is tight and not heavy. Mind you this is only a 55W/ch 2 channel receiver I bought in Saudi Arabia in 1987.
Now I know what it's like to be caressed by music.

Wow ha, kailangan pala may hawak kang P500 bill para masagot mo ng ACCURATELY ang tanong sa ibaba. Buti na lang kabibigay lang ng bonus. WheEeEeEe
At kulang pa ako ng period. Talaga naman, oo

First time Tannoy user here(overnight to be exact) and currently listening to it after replacing the lousy Polk audios. It went on sale and was priced same as polks this boxing week sale. Heard both the V1I and V4I. Both are good options depending on how loud you want things get.
All the reviews and listening experiences shared, prove true. Clarity and vocals are 5/5. It lacks a bit of punch though but if you pair them with the right amp/receiver that is strong in that category, it will be for keeps. My setup now is Mercury V4I, Cambridge audio 651 and Topaz CD10. Had I decided going back to NAD (352 at least I used to own back in PH), I could have been happier. Upgrade syndrome strikes all the time but there has to be some rationalization to just keep enjoying with the status quo. Tannoy now is a highly recommended speaker brand.

i had a tannoy mercury mx2 since 2006 and enjoy the sound of it. i paired it with my trusty yamaha rxv-995 which i purchased 15 years ago. yesterday my wife gave me a v-day gift and bought a tannoy mercury v4 after we heard it at 5th avenue shangri-la.

for the price you will never go wrong with this speaker.
