I was so disappointed that Google Checkout is not available for Philippine buyers. Any news regarding accreditation or implementation for Philippine users any time soon?

I've used Google checkout.
Added the address of Johhny Air Cargo NY (JAC) to my locally issued Mastercard, and had the item shipped there. I picked up the item in JAC Megamall under a week from date of order, with shipping coming out cheaper than the Fedex and UPS for cargo shipped to the Philippines.

How were you able to sign up for Google Checkout if the Philippines is not included in the list of countries where signing up could be made from?
-
@Groucho, could you direct me to the page which says that? I didn't encounter that restriction.
Your shipping and credit card address should match. In my case, it was the JAC address in NY.

Is your billing address same with JAC's address? How is that accomplished?

Email from Google:
We're unable to comment on the timing of Google Checkout availability in
additional countries, but we appreciate your interest. We look forward to
offering more options in the near future.
Google Checkout may not be available in every country right away but we'll
certainly try our best! To make sure our buyers from across the globe have
a wonderful experience with Google Checkout, we make every effort to plan,
test, and hone our system to meet the needs of that country before
release.
While we can't comment specifically about which countries we're working to
incorporate at the moment, we do appreciate your suggestion to include the
Philippines as soon as possible and will take note. Until then, we
appreciate your interest and patience.

I think hemisphere just made my point clearer. Because of this, I could not sign up with Google Checkout. How were you able to use JAC as your billing address?

Let me rephrase. This is what you do:
1. Call your local Mastercard;
2. Add JAC NY address as an authorized (delivery) address; this will not replace your current billing address, but will be listed as a 2nd address;
3. Register with JAC Manila (follow procedures outlines in Aura Black's email);
4. Place your order with any U.S. merchant; use Google Checkout;
5. In Google Checkout, list down JAC NY as your delivery address.
This set-up worked for both my BPI Mastercard and UNIONBANK Visa. I have no idea who and why it doesn't work for you. Google Checkout is not available for Philippine deliveries. Using the JAC NY address resolves the issue.

Oh.. Is this a normal practice?
I dont want to rain on your parade but I see this as a sign of security breach which technically must not be applied by international banks since the basis of acceptance of payment providers is mainly the locality of issuing bank, second is the billing address.
As per policy, only these type of addresses is permitted by the Credit Card Company (which should be verified as existing and actual prior to approval):
- Home
- Office
- Place of Birth/Property

Just saw the Philippines listed in Google Checkout. Does that mean we can use Google Checkout already for our purchases?

For buyers, yes, you should be able to use your local credit cards to fund your Google Checkout account. Unfortunately, local merchants like PinoyDVD.biz are out of luck though since Google still doesn't support onlines stores outside the US and UK.

firwired, but at least it's a start. I remember the same thing happening to PayPal. At first we complained that we were forsaken by PayPal. Then, we could use it as buyers. And if I understand correctly from the email PayPal recently sent me, Philippine sellers can now use PayPal.
