just curious for the substitutes, cant seem to find?
anybody tried a substitute for this?
dynaco st70 and sca-35 use this, i understand.
heard from a friend that 6an8 can be use...not sure and tried though :)

Sir dana,
Unless you want to modify your ST70, a 6AN8 cannot be used in place of the 7199.
Among other things, they have different pinouts.
Best Regards

6GH8, 6BU8, you need a sharp cut-off pentode and medium mu-triode, 7199 is long discontinued...6gh8 is a better sub for this tube. a 12by7, 12bh7 combo will be hard to beat as a replacement...
sayang oweidah, i missed you by one hour at spin today... ;D i took 4 heatsinks today, will come back for more and the cleartops... ;D
lots of polypropylene caps there too...wish they had a website to browse their products...

-
yes, spin is a diy paradise of sorts, there are many parts, polypropylene caps, etc. etc, if you know how to look.
the big machine by the door is a transmitter unit if i am not mistaken.. ;D
-
thanks sir 2ny for the info.6gh8 is a different pinout configuration,so need some sort of rewiring or diy adaptor to use just in case if the need to use :)...
yes, its an old transmitter daw for guam, diy/made by the German owner/founder(deceased) of Spin., lufeeeet nga...
owediah, nice meeting you nga pala and many thanks for the tips/info ;)...

yan lang ang mahirap sa ST70, kaunti lang options in case mapudpod ang tubes mo... anyway by the time wala nang mabili pwede pa naman pa modify ang amp :)

in the event that the 7199 becomes extinct, you can always order from Curcio their drop-in boards which uses 3-6922 tubes to replace the 2-7199.
the sound would be another story.
pero sa experience ko yun EL34 ang madalas mapudpod, meron ako restore na ST70 orig na Dynaco (labeled) pa yun 7199 tubes.

thanks jojo for that helpful info...
the sca-35 i got, still has its original 7199 labeled dynaco... :)
