STAR easily beats BGK last night ...... It's obvious that the triangle offense is still in it's infancy with BGK.
Puro isolation lang ginawa nila - dump it down low to Slaughter or straight-up isolation for Aguilar.
A few more bad losses or a bad record this conference, Tim Cone will inevitably do a few more lopsided deals with their farm teams (BARAKO & GLOBALPORT) to get players who do well with the triangle.
Jervy Cruz is an obvious target with his good mid-range range ....... RR Garcia is another target ....... so is Maierhofer.

It was a missed call by the refs - though, it should be hard to call in realtime ....... we the viewers have the benefit of replays and multiple angles - the difference of a violation was probably just fractions or a whole second, at most.
Ika nga, breaks of the game ....... not unlike the horrendous bad call that the refs called in the Dubai road game between GINEBRA and ALASKA. That call was criminal and gave GINEBRA the win.
All I can say is, heheheh, mabuti at nakatikim din si Tim Cone nang ref jobbing since he got onboard with SMCORP.

I don't think so. Mga 8 or 7 seconds left noong nag start mag ball-hog si Pringle. Saka meron pa ata 1 full timeout ang BGK. Meron pa siguro 2 or 3 seconds para makapag-execute ng play ang BGK kung sakali tinawagan ng violation ang Global Port. Madami pa pwede mangyari sa ilang segundo na natira. Unfortunately, we will never know kung ano dapat ang nangyari.

I'm not an expert pero kung same score sana ok lng na wag mag foul right? That was an awful decision on cone's part, just my opinion..

it's an old defensive strategy na din sir, bibihira lang mangyari yang ganyang situation, madalas sa barangay/corporate league nangyayari yan lalo na pag knockout game. but last night's game is not a barangay game & the referees are not pang barangay lang na referees, they too have a license & professionals, but they are only humans too, nagkakamali din, kung jawo era yan nangyari, ewan ko na lang ;D ;D ;D

In my opinion, kahit alam nila na matatrap nila ng 5 seconds si Pringle eh dapat nag foul na lang sila and request for the replay after the whistle. Pwedeng pwede naman silang humingi ng replay sa deadball lalo last minutes yun. Stick to the game plan na lang mag foul hanggang walang pitong na naririning in favor of them.
Parang Alaska - Ginebra game lang nung Dubai, masama rin tawag ng ref sa huli kaya nanalo ang Ginebra.
Parang kagabi lang kaso in favor of Global Port naman, ang masakit eh do or die game yun.

the play should be try to steal the ball within 3 to 4 secs if not then foul para may ample time pa to have the last shot after the ft. kahit sablay second ft or pasok may TIMEout pa which was needed to inbound on half court and set play havng atleast 3 to 4 secs
naging maganda lang talaga ung defensa ng Ginebra without noticing na time will expire na after nilunok ng refs ang mga pito.
sabi nga breaks of the game. if the ginebra will have the ball pos wala pa namang kasiguradohan na mananalo though it would have been more exciting
bawi nalang. hindi din naman pedeng tumawag ung ref after reviewing when theres no time left on the clock.

ayun talaga ang play to trap but not to trap and expect the 5secs unless ung oras is more than 10secs
when you trap you expect to steal the ball but still requires to foul if hindi makuha ung bola
risky but then again hats off the ginebra ..

PBA suspends refs involved in controversial Ginebra-GlobalPort game

The PBA has suspended referees Rommel Gruta and Edward Aquino after a review showed that the two officials missed calls during Sunday's matchup between GlobalPort and Barangay Ginebra San Miguel.
The two referees have been banned by the league's technical committee for the rest of the Philippine Cup, whose semifinals begin next week.
The Batang Pier won Sunday's game after time ran out against the Gin Kings in the final possession. But officials of Ginebra complained that violations should have been called against GlobalPort in the final possession.
While the Gin Kings did not put the result under protest, the PBA reviewed the sequence and found the two referees liable.
"In the deliberation with the technical committee, it was determined that two (2) violations were not called. One was the 5-second ball hogging violation which was the responsibility of referee Rommel Gruta," the league said in a statement.
"The second infraction was the backing violation of GlobalPort’s Stanley Pringle, whose responsibility was that of referee Edward Aquino’s," it added.
"As a result of these two non-calls, Barangay Ginebra was denied final ball possession." —JST, GMA News

Yeng should have gone to the other players who contributed to the double digit leads of RoS instead on relying on Chan and Lee in the last two minutes of the game . Chan was very off while Lee was just returning from injury. Lee did hit some baskets but his turnovers contributed to their loss. Sorry loss for RoS, leading almost all the way then losing in the last minute. If this series goes to seven games, RoS would rue losing this game.

I, too, am dumbfounded why they keep on saying it was Hontiveros who started the commotion. He may have pulled Semerad down but that was it. Hontiveros and Semerad had already separated when Abueva stepped in. It was Abueva who triggered it all when he intentionally bumped Semerad while supposedly helping Hontiveros up.

I know he is doing it all para manalo team nya pero sana not to the point of hurting someone. He must know the limitations and play professionally. If I was in Washington's shoes, itutulak ko din yung ganyang player na while helping my team mate bigla nyang gaganunin. Tsk tsk tsk...

Exactly ....... not to condone Abueva's actions last night, but that "gulang" move on Semerad is nothing compared to the hits that known dirty players give out e.g. Tubid, Belga, Ranidel, Mamaril, etc.
In a way, last night's would-be rumble is good for the PBA ....... for the past few years, it's been a decreasing trend of low gate attendance for live games - I'd think that TV audiences are also on a downtrend. Fights and rivalries create some buzz.
Semifinals na, pero kaunti lang ang nanonood live. Kahit sa mga laro ng GINEBRA, hindi na napupuno ang coliseum. Malayong-malayo sa gate attendance from years ago.
Aside from the NBA and other live sports, pinag-babayaran na kasi nang PBA ang pag-tolerate & pag-payag nila sa mga kalokohan na ginagawa ng SMCorp & MVP group. Even diehard fans of these teams have long complained about the unfair way their teams compete.
Every conference, every season, it's just 4-5 teams who are serious contenders ....... nag-sasawa na din ang madaming fans.

Gulangan at pwestuhan talaga ang nature nang boxing-out sa basketball eh, moreso in pro basketball. You can see it any basketball game, anywhere.
Very unfortunate nga lang at nagkataong hindi naka-brace maigi si Fajardo sa contact ....... add the fact that Fajardo is a very heavy guy who plays very heavy minutes.
Sayang at kung kailan "pinayagan" si Fajardo maglaro sa GILAS saka pa na-injure.

Anyare sa alaska, hindi pa 100% si fajardo nung game 5 and 6.hanga ako kay compton as a coach pero nakita ko dito sa series na hindi sya magaling sa in game adjustment. In fairness hindi ko napanood yung game 5 to 7, bits and pieces lang. And that 3 consecutive timeouts? Whoever thought of that should be fired (joke lang po). I hope someone can give technical details on how the aces lost 4 straight games considering na hindi 100% healthy main man ng kalaban

Alaska's best chances were games 4 and 5, the two overtime games. When SMB won both OT games, their confidence went sky-high. Games 6 and 7 had tense moments but there was this feeling that SMB had the games and series in control even though they were the ones trailing.
Alaska's 3-point shooting deserted them. Had Alaska's 3-point shooting been more consistent, SMB would not have used the zone that much.

Just like to share this story of my friend the Bullet Dindo Pumaren during his rookie year. It was a game between Purefoods vs. Anejo. Sabi ni Bullet, "Madali agawan si Jawo kasi ang taas mag dribble". So he stole the ball from Jawo while the Big J was dribbling from the backcourt, for an easy layup. The next possession, he again stole it from Jawo and made the layup. Pagbaba ni Bullet, the big arm of Jawo with closed fist landed on his chest then Jawo said to him, "Wag mo na ulitin bata ha? Kaibigan ko Tatay mo ( referring to Pilo Pumaren ) ayoko masaktan ka"
So hindi na daw sinubukan ni Bullet agawan si Big J :D

A bit surprising that Yeng Guiao transfers now ........ more than a few reasons for this.
** MVP offer is guaranteed to be BIG money.
** RoS with many key FA's this coming offseason. They'll likely lose Paul Lee - Lee & his manager Chongson, has always had an iffy relationship with RoS management ....... Chongson hasn't been shy to admit that "contracts" from SMCorp teams are better and has long been plotting a Paul Lee move to SMCorp.
** Yeng Guiao is the ONLY coach in the PBA who loves reclamation projects and loves to build teams the old fashioned way.

It was a sarcastic question of course, everyone knows that SMCORP and MVP teams have hidden side contracts and under the table deals.
ALASKA & RoS are the only teams who abide by the salary cap and doesn't resort to unfair practices on trades, draft picks, free-agents, etc.

Yup, Paul Lee seems to be on a slow, albeit steady decline due to injuries ........ Lee has never been one to reduce weight, his game is best served banging around the opponents PG - weight and age doesn't go well in pro hoops.
Hope Lee conditions himself this offseason - when he's healthy, he's a top 5 PBA player.

Naging coach naman siya at araw araw siguro nanonood siya ng laro pero ang commento ni narvasa parang elementary basketball ang alam niya. Ang daming teams ang nanganga ilangan ng malaki player pero dun pa dinala sa meron ng magaling na malaking player.
Masyadong pabor sa San Miguel yun trade, Dapat si Yeng or si Uytengsu na lang ang head ng PBA.

In the NBA they value the #1 draft pick and teams start rebuilding.
Here in the PBA, teams simply sell their rights for money.
San Miguel tlga nag umpisa nyan e kya yn in order to be competitive the MVP group has to buy and own more than 1 team to keep the quality players for themselves and compete against the SMB Group.
Ang mas masama ngaun pati un Commissioner hnd fair ang decisions.

What's with Romeo? Lumaki na yata ulo masyado. He is a skilled and flashy player but not a very cerebral one. You don't disrespect your coach in public.
A similar thing happened before also with GlobalPort when then Coach Pumaren and Stanley Pringle engaged in a shouting match. Kaso ang natsugi si Pumaren :'(

Fred Uytengsu went all in when he started the Alaska franchise. He got the best staff and players he could find and he did it within the confines of the rules. Alaska notably wasn't involved on the deep end of some of the Fil-Sham issues in the late 90's or were involved in questionable trades. And yet, they were still able to win Grand Slams. He is the Danny Floro of my generation.

It's a credit to WU that ALASKA lasted this long with all the salary-cap violations, lopsided trades and other shenanigans of the SMCorp and MVP teams and their farm teams.
Tuloy-tuloy lang ang paghingalo nang PBA ........ saan ka nakakita nang liga, na ang mga die-hard fans nang GINEBRA at SAN MIGUEL, sila mismo aminado na sobrang garapalang pandaraya ang matagal nang nagaganap sa PBA.
Ito ang isa sa malupit, Comm. Salud naging "salamangkero" in the words of Yeng Guiao ........... linuto ang 2014 draft para ma-ensure na mapunta sa SMCorp farm team si Stanley Pringle.
