Hey LA area "Friends" fans! What do you think of this idea?
What do you say we schedule an EB around a taping for "Joey"? I saw on the TV tickets wesbite that the next episode of "Joey" will be filming at Warner Brothers studios in Burbank on August 6th and tickets will be available 30 days before that. We could get tickets, then we could all meet at the Warner studios. Or we could all meet somewhere else and convoy to Burbank. What do you think? Good idea? We could get to see Matt Le Blanc in person!
By the way, here's the website to get tickets for tapings of "Joey".

-
Yey, Joey!!! ;D How much do tickets for these tapings cost? Rates aren't found in the website.... I've always wanted to watch a Friends taping. :-\ Now that Friends is gone, Joey taping na lang....like I could go and watch heheheh!
Speaking of Joey, here's a trivia --- > Jennifer Coolidge, who will play Joey's new agent (wala na si Estelle! :-\) in his new show, was once a guest star on Friends. She played Monica and Phoebe's friend (with the fake British accent) Amanda.
-
Tapings are free! All you have to do is show up! That is if you can get tickets before they run out :D

Pinas based ako. Plane ticket to LA would be the problem. ;D

Has anyone else seen the pilot episode of Joey?
It clearly demonstrates the superiority of the Cheers-Frasier writing team over the guys who write FRIENDS-Joey.
I suppose a major factor is the choice to spin off the dumb loveable character (as opposed to Frasier's quirky intellectual). Frasier's humor was sophisticated. Joey's is crass. And how the heck did Drea De Matteo go from hottie Adriana on The Sopranos to middle aged-looking mom in Joey in just a few months?
Hopefully they'll tweak the show a bit more before it actually airs.
-
They'll do (or they did already) a re-cast daw and replace the neighbor? So that episode will become "the episode that will never air in the season premiere". I have mixed feelings about it. Maybe because there was hardly any reference to the other 5 remaining Friends. (I miss them!) Or I half-expected Chris, from the Sopranos, to make an appearance and demand something from Adriana. ;D
-
If I remember correctly, the First Season of Frazier pales in comparison to the latter progressions. So does the First Season of Simpsons. They probably hasn't gotten the right mix yet for Joey.
I remember Frazier's special features on the First Season explaining that the only thing they took from Cheers is the character's name, wife son. Everything else they reinvented for the new series. As everyone knows Frazier is not a central character in Cheers.
I haven't seen Joey yet. The material to start with has been beaten to death in Friends and unless they come up with something fresh, this will really be a short series
-

Yep, and from what I've read she'll be playing a mom not to some toddler but to a 20-yr old former child prodigy of some sort. She herself looks just under 30, from The Sopranos at least. What did her 'Joey' character do? Get knocked up at age 9?

Yup, apparently pregnant at a very young age, it's one of the story lines in that very first episode.
-
Drea de Matteo just got nominated for a Best Supporting Actress Emmy. Arrright Ade!

Oh i see :) Anyway, mukhang hindi pa naman available ang tickets eh
-
tsk tsk! No dates available yet...I think what's happening is tickets are so popular that the show gets sold out as soon as they announce that tickets are available. I really gotta check that website every day!
-
the show was ok... nothing mindblowing, but it's funny enough... :)
-
hmm... i'll give the show 4 episodes to try and hook me!
-
ive seen the pilot episode and it made me miss friends more. but its okay. the humor is kinda the same... joey mentions chandler... everybody is still hella funny... hope they show it here soon. :)
-
Matt Le Blanc's new series... anyone seen it yet? :)
-
I've watched the Pilot and the aired episode the changes are the neighbor and some shots were sharpened and tightened out.
I gotta agree on the producers call to replace the neighbor. Even though she's my type >:D her acting was too limp.
-
they replaced the neighbor?? the hot girl? why?? who did they replace her with?
-
i'm watching episode 3... and i'm plainly getting bored with it..
joey said sa conan last night na 60 percent of friend's writers are working for the show. I find NONE of Friend's wit and humour..
edit: there was some bright spot there right at the end. when the guy volunteered to be a backboard. That was good. we get to see some classic joey.
-

A hotter girl, IMHO. ;D
The original girl received poor scores/feedback when they showed the original pilot to test audiences. Kawawa naman.
Just now caught up with the first three episodes of the show. Ok lang. In the age where the sitcom is all but dead, it's viewable.
But isn't it strange that after all those years of a questionable relationship with Chandler (Even Joey's sister thinks they were a gay couple), the first person Joey obsesses over in L.A. also is a guy?
Hmm...
"Not that there's anything wrong with that..."
;D
-
what he needed was a guy to hang out with. which is good. dahil he looks for a long term friend 1st before looking for short term relationships (with women)
-
Some situation presented in this TV spinoff is way too So LA.....
but presented in korny fashion.. I hope this bounce back being the so called "spin off" of Friends
-
well saw episode 4.. it was pretty good. had some genuine "joey" moments... (like the little snail) hehe..
alex is hot too!!! too bad she's married.
-
Finally did a bit of catch-up and have seen up to Episode 9.
Either the show's getting better, or the characters have grown on me.
The show is still no F*R*I*E*N*D*S, but it's a good enough distraction if you have nothing else to watch.
-
Do they already have a timeslot for this on Studio 23? Would appreciate a heads up if someone sees the ad of when this starts. :)

Someone at PEX who says he/she is from Studio 23 posted Joey will be airing in March. :)
-
Thanks CrUzAC[k]H! I'm eager to see this show. :)
-
I'm sad to hear that Joey is now being laughed at as the biggest spin-off flop since After-M*A*S*H. I actually thought it was getting better with the addition of Lucy Liu and Colby from Survivor to the recurring members of the cast.
Maybe it's time for Monica & Chandler to divorce, so one of them can move to L.A. and join Joey's apartment complex... ;)

The ads started already. Starts Sunday, March 27, 8:30PM on Studio 23, replacing Just Shoot Me!
-
Thanks Mr. Hankey! :)
-
You're welcome. I've really grown to like this show.
I hope it doesn't suffer the same fate as the other shows I learned to like this season, like Life As We Know It, Complete Savages and Arrested Development... which have all either been cancelled or are really on the verge of it... :-\
-
Despite mediocre ratings, Joey's been renewed for a second season already. :)
-
hello.. may second season na?! kool.........
-
are there any FRIENDS references?
joey's exs? other FRIENDS? as guests of the show... ::)
-
No. From the outset, the producers said they wouldn't want that to happen in the first season of the show, since they wanted to give "Joey" a chance to stand on his own.
But I think it's more of so as not to remind the audience how lousy Joey is when he's all alone. You'll miss his Friends even more if you get a small taste of them again!
So if I remember right, Chandler was mentioned in the pilot, then Rachel was alluded to in the first part of last week's season finale (and not even mentioned by name!), but that's it.
After disliking then liking the show, the last few episodes put me back into the dislike column. One episode completely recycled a joke from season two of FRIENDS -actually copying the dialogue word for word! And even the show's writers seem to have forgotten about what's going on in the show-within-the-show: Colby Donaldson's character was killed off, then brought back as a ghost... and now, in the finale, is suddenly alive again... and in danger of dying. Huh?
If the writers themselves don't care about the show's continuity... how can they expect the audience to?
Sloppy work all around. Season One's done, so that "stand on his own" premise is done! Now bring back Rachel.. or Phoebe... or Monica & Chandler... or Ross... or even Marcel the Monkey... ::)
-
my wife & I are major F*R*I*E*N*D*S fans... we caught one episode of Joey and we were freakin' disappointed! >:( We never watched again
Joey is not fun with out the other 5... :P and the show isn't funny at all... I think Matt LeBlanc is too old already to still be funny as Joey... I think this spin-off would have worked several years ago
Mr. Hankey which show did they recycle from Season 2? Maybe they thought no one would remember after over a decade!
-
Mr. Hankey which show did they recycle from Season 2?
Di naman entire episode - just the joke that had Ross and Julie on the phone with the "No, you hang up" banter that was bothering everyone, most especially Rachel. Its recreation on "Joey" made me realize how much the nephew was actually just a younger version of Ross - intellectual dork who's awkward with women.
I hope they figure out a way to improve this show in its second season. I didn't like Frasier's first season either, but it eventually became a worthy successor to its parent show... for a few seasons in the middle, anyway. They really forced that show to go on a few more years than it should have.
-
oh yeah... I meant "joke" not show... hehehehe ;D
yeah I remember that joke where Rachel presses the "off" button to hang up ;D
Yep, I hope Joey does make a comeback... Seinfeld also had a troubled start but eventually became a juggernaut of a sitcom by the time they reached their fourth season...
-
Just saw the last episodes of Season 1. Mighty disappointed. Yeah, did not like that "you hang-up" bit. They probably wanted the audience to see Ross in Michael. I don't know if that's working for me, because it only reminds me of how much I miss the other 5.
I'm fairly disappointed with the way Alex's chracter developed. Ain't she a lawyer in the story? She's acting like a high schooler (in a sad way, kinda reminds me of me, 30+ going on 14! ;D).
The only thing I liked in this show that I didn't like before: Bobbi (with an I or a Y?), Joey's agent. She's got the best lines. Let them do her spin-off instead. :)
Oh, and yes....Joey's girlfriend is hot. ;D
-
The only time I find myself laughing during this show is when Jennifer Coolidge is on the scene.
The rest of the show is lame, lame, lame. Andrea Anders is worthless. She might as well be in a WB sitcom.
-
i think they've started season 1 again on studio 23 ::)
-
And Joey has been pulled off of NBC's "Must-See TV" Thursday line-up.
Sayang. But Joey simply wasn't funny.
He really needed a little help from his F*R*I*E*N*D*S.
-
Yup, it is not funny. Unlike Frasier which was able to develop a good cast to surround the spinoff character to replace the Cheers cast, Joey's cast is not appealing nor interesting. In hindsight, the weakness of the show only serves to highlight that Joey's character is the least developed of the major players in Friends
-
And Gina's voice is irritating. So high pitched and puro hangin. :P Watching Joey is really like watching grown ups behaving like a bunch of 8 year olds. It's amusing at first but it gets tiring later.
-
season 2 starts on studio 23 feb 24 8pm ;)
-
And for those of you who just must have "Joey" in your DVD collection, Season One already 68% off at Amazon UK:
That brings its price to roughly the same as the local R3 "FRIENDS" boxed sets.

I'm guessing this is the last season of Joey... :P unless a miracle happens...

sir, is this digipack?
-
sir, is this digipack?
Sorry... I didn't actually order one, so I'm not sure.
-
Why did they choose Joey for the spin-off anyway? Did they think he was the funniest character or is LeBlanc the only one to accept such a deal? I never did read about this one.
Personally, I think a "Chandler" spin-off would've been better. Of course, Monica had to be included as well, or else he would've been divorced. :)
-
Why did they choose Joey for the spin-off anyway?
Matt LeBlanc was probably the only one willing to do one. I think a spin-off show for any of the Friends is a bad idea. If I absolutely had to pick, I would have picked Phoebe since she has a very colorful back story and it would be very interesting to see where the direction of her life will be going.
-
And it's over: NBC confirmed Joey as canceled 5/15/06. Eight episodes of the series remain unaired.
-
ma-release pa kaya season 2 dvd :-\
-
Well at least Matt Le Blanc got a new girlfriend out of the show :-*
