Hi Guys! Just wanted to ask wether the lead star in the Manhunter(1986) movie Brian Cox is the same actor under the role of forensics expert Gil Grissom in the CBS produced show C.S.I. ? The resemblance is just striking. Sana naman RPN 9 would air this on local TV.It really is a good show most specially for high school and college students, lots of Scientific stuff.
-
It's the same actor, but it isn't Brian Cox. It's William Petersen.
Brian Cox played Hannibal Lecter in MANHUNTER.
-
That was stupid of me. Since I judged it on the movie billing- Brian Cox's name was first in the credits section which made me thought he was the lead star which was the detective. Hanibal Lecter was there on the film but he was mainly supportive and had a "weak" characterization in the movie compared to the 1991 and 2000 sequels.
-
Hey! Brian Cox wasn't "weak"! I happen to admire how he portrayed Lecter. He played it subtle and cool, like Lecter could actually be a good shrink, a respectable intellectual.
I enjoyed Anthony Hopkins' performances, but subtle is a word that definitely does not apply to them. One look at his Lecter and you could tell that the man was a total freak.

Wasn't there a movie like this before wherein the spouse was the killer and the other spouse was trying to find out what really happened? ;D
CrUzSACK as a Profiler.. hoho pang Discovery Channel na rin. so how would you profile your husband, PARC the Ripper? oops Did I just open a hornets nest? ::)
Anyway going back to topic. Does anybody know when the next season of CSI is coming back on AXN? Need my fix :-X... While I'm waiting, the 2 hour show on Mondays on AXN at 22hrs and Friday Crime Night on Discovery Channel will suffice for now.
Any favorite Murder Mystery Movies you might want to recommend.. oops.. off topic again.. ;D

Are u talking about the New York Ripper? Though they werent a married couple. Has anyone seen the episode(CSI) last Monday night? The kidnapped baby thing? Uso ba talaga sa U.S. yan? Mothers killing their babies, the so called "shaking thing"?

I missed this last Monday! >:(
But yeah, apparantly the "shaking thing" happens a lot in the States, I forgot the term...."shaken baby syndrome?" ;D. Dito sa Pilipinas bihira mo lang mabalitaan, but in the States madalas. They said that if you shake the baby real hard something snaps at the back of the neck or something, so the baby dies.....I have to get back to reading about that, nakalimutan ko na. :-/

Just a quick reminder to everyone:
Season Two of C.S.I. debuts Tonight, Wednesday, 9:00PM only on AXN.
"Who are you... hoo-hoo, hoo-hoo!" ;D
-
darnit. i don't have cable in my dorm.
jude! pahiram ng tv!
when's it going to be replayed in the weekend? might just catch it then.
-
C.S.I. is back woohoo!!!!! ;D
the show last night was kind of lame though, only had one crime being solved.
The evidence was too conveniently easy to piece out thus an easily solution to the mystery. :(
-
The episode last Wed? Had the tv volume on "4" lang coz PARC was trying to get some sleep so I didn't hear the dialogue well. But even so, I had sort of a clue as to who did it, had something to do with the way the suspects were introduced/positioned in the show last night. It's like the camera or whatever you call it, gave it all away. :-\

Here's a look at the cast of CSI: Miami (http://www.cbs.com/primetime/fall_preview_2002/shows/csi_miami/):
I'm guessing that from left to right, these would be the equivalents of Nick, Catherine, Grissom, Warrick, and Sara Sidle.
Sheesh, what the hell are they thinking milking the franchise like this? They'll run out of ideas even faster! Well, at least they got a much more attractive cast.
Also joining the cast is NYPD Blue's Kim Delaney.
Hmm... Caruso and Delaney together on one show? Pretty soon, they'll probably be adding Jimmy Smits, Rick Schroder and Sharon Lawrence.
I'd be okay with that, but if Sipowicz ever shows up... ::)
CSI: Miami (http://www.cbs.com/primetime/fall_preview_2002/shows/csi_miami/) debuts this fall on CBS, so I'd expect it on AXN by next year. I'm thinking this will probably be the show AXN will use to alternate with CSI when the original series is on hiatus?
-
hey from TWOP again. Some spoofs of the new CSI:Miami series.

Sheesh, what the hell are they thinking milking the franchise like this? They'll run out of ideas even faster! Well, at least they got a much more attractive cast.
Oh, no...no....no...no...the original cast of CSI --- they are much more attractive. ;D I'd choose Grissom over Caruso's character anytime. ;D Only because I think that Grissom the actor (don't know his name! :-[), can carry the "matalino" look compared to Caruso.
-
I'm with you CrUzSACK - I like the original cast too! William Petersen, Marg Halgenberger (did I spell it right), Jorja Fox - need I go on? ;D
-
Ayun, William Petersen is Grissom right? I still cannot distinguish the names with the faces....:-[ Thanks, gumby!
-
Yep - William Peterson is Gil Grissom, Marg Halgenberger is Catherine Willows, Jorja Fox is Sara Sidle, Gary Dourdan is Warwick Brown, George Eads is Nick Stokes, and Paul Guilfoyle is Captain Jim Brass.
I'm a freak and a nerd - and proud of it...I think ;D
-
I don't know about this CSI:Miami thing.. I wonder what will distinguish this from the original CSI. It looks more like I-can't-get-any-job-after-NYPD-blues-so-i'll-join-a-CSI-ripoff-maybe-it-will-do-wonders-for-my-career. ;D

Oh, no...no....no...no...the original cast of CSI --- they are much more attractive. ;D
Speaking for my gender... Catherine and Sarah simply are NOT attractive. Though Sarah is the type you want to sleep with... umm... roughly... ;D
The new blonde chick, though... WOOF!
-
She looks like a cheerleader for the miami dolphins. Bet they're gonna reveal that she was. (well that or she was a latin dancer in some club ;D )
i think that marg H is kinda hot. It's just something about redheads. ;)
Hey i kinda like the first guy though. he was in "The Don", that godfather-ish sequel they showed on cable a long time ago. ;D He always plays murderers and stuff. Interesting that now he gets to solve them.
David Caruso looks more like a Brass type than a grissom type. He cannot pull off the smart look.
-
i love the original cast of c.s.i.!!!
i really looooooooooove GEORGE EADS!!! ;D ;D ;D
crush ko din yung DNA guy...but dunno his name... ;D
-
i think that marg H is kinda hot. It's just something about redheads. ;)
Marg H. - She had this movie I saw on Cinemax once, ala Basic Instinct kind of psycho-thriller. She was the seductress or something...sexy, sexy woman. ;) If I'm not mistaken, I think it was a movie with David Carusso but I don't have a good memory so... :-\ But the woman was her, she played the sexy widow or something. That's why when I saw her on CSI I thought, "Cool! She can actually do something that's not sexy and still look sexy!"
Jorga F. - (Hey, I know who they are now! ;)) She's actually pretty if she'd do something about her hair. Great shoulders, great bearing, her height and the length of her legs - okay rin! I like it when the directors do shots of her in full frame, ganda ng bearing niya. ;)
Hehehe. NY, let me guess --- you like the Baywatch babes too, huh? Love seeing them run, huh? Hehehe. Kidding lang!!! ;D Joey-Chandler kind of a joke, and I know you know what I mean ;D ;)
-
Hmm... the people from this board defending the two current CSI women as "sexy" are... FEMALE.
I rest my case on the "speaking for my gender" part of my post. 8)
-
Speaking for my gender... Catherine and Sarah simply are NOT attractive.

hey guys some jorja fox/sara siddle pictures to change the minds of any doubters out there ;D
-
That's Jorja Fox? :o Homina homina homina!
Is it me or does the first picture look like Charisma Carpenter (of Buffy and Angel)? Or maybe I'm just watching too many Buffy episodes these days...
-
yup thats jorja fox although i do see your point ;)
maybe you need a comparison ;D
(http://www.stuffmagazine.com/girls/charisma_carpenter/charisma_carpenter_s1.jpg) (http://www.stuffmagazine.com/girls/charisma_carpenter/charisma_carpenter_s3.jpg) (http://www.stuffmagazine.com/girls/charisma_carpenter/charisma_carpenter_s6.jpg)
enjoy ;)
-
You are so bad hajime - more more more! ;D Though shouldn't this be a separate thread?
I find Charisma more beautiful - Jorja's teeth just doesn't look right.
-
yup i guess it is kinda deviating from CSI already
i cannot possibly send you more right now unless you want william peterson posing that way :o which i definitely will not do ;D
about her teeth though some people actually find that attractive ;)
-
Nhoooh! That's Jorja FoX? :o :)
Anyway, back to David and CSI:Miami...so how's the preview so far, are they also thinking and saying what we're saying ---- that it's not gonna compare to the original CSI? Cast not at par? Violent reactions?

Their comments:
You have to figure that a Friday 9pm slot will bury it, but this cop drama has William Petersen, Las Vegas, and some great quirky characters going for it. Folks into DNA details will love this show.
What a great idea for a series. Theoretically, a potential reincarnation of some of the "Columbo" smarts of television. But what a quick shark jump. Definitely jumped in its debut. All that promise. Absolutely no delivery.
Shouldn't judge a show by it's pilot, as odd as that sounds. Too much time spent introducing characters to do much with the story. I think it's a great show, a good mix of science, mystery, intrigue, character drama, etc.
This show hasn't been on very long but I LOVE it. I have already seen William Peterson in Las Vegas, twice. I think that people need to give it a chance.
THIS IS MY ABSOLUTE MOST FAVORITE NEW SHOW!! I caught it by chance one Friday night and have been hooked ever since! Excellent creativity and delivery with the show's writers! Keep it coming!!
Maybe you guys weren't watching this great show....it is on THURSDAY'S at 9 pm...and has never been on Fridays....maybe you need a DNA check on your family history (it originally premiered on a Friday)
I wish that when a network creates a good premise as this would stick to the story and not delve in the whinny problems of the characters. Homicide has been the only show that stuck to the title and the characters problems were a side story. Also some of the test they are running have already been done by other experts and the results are well known. I must be one of the few that watch the real thing like Forensic Files, New Detectives, FBI files. This show is not for me.
The show is awesome! I love shows which have the scientists as the good guys. The black guy with the gambling addiction and a job that sends him to a casino every few weeks, is a nice touch.
OK, don't get me wrong. I'm voting for "Never Jumped." However, I see some potential jumps looming, and I hope the show can avoid the pitfalls. First, there's been *slightly* too much heard from the characters' personal lives. They should stick to the procedural, like Law & Order, giving us the occasional hint about their personal lives, leaving us wanting to know more about them. Also, and this is a BIGGIE, they need to stop moralizing. Grissom's always telling them to be objective, but then he ends up spouting bullcrap at the end. There was the episode rerun a couple weeks ago where the guy on the plane was killed in SELF-DEFENSE by the other passengers. Grissom tells us that they should have dealt with the psycho by asking him if he was all right and how they could help, because all he needed was a little understanding. PLEASE! Then there was the one where the two lesbians killed the guy who was going to rat on them, and the CSIs decided it was okay that they killed him, because after all he was a homophobe.
EXCUSE ME? Then, the most ridiculous episode of all involves a deaf kid who gets killed by a couple punks who want him to buy beer for them. It starts out with the head of the deaf school being a complete BITCH to the CSIs, but Grissom thinks it's ok to be an idiot if you have a disability (boy, if I were deaf, I think that would have really pissed me off.) Then after finding out what really happened, Grissom and the deaf bitch concluded that "they killed him just because he was different." WHAT? They killed him because he didn't buy beer for them! It wasn't like a couple bigots decided it would be fun to go out and kill a deaf guy. They were just jerks, plain and simple. Anyway, all these silly little conclusions they reach mar an otherwise great show. I wish TV shows would realize that they don't always have to have a message, and even if they have one, the average viewer is smart enough not to need to be hit over the head with it to get it. How's this for a message? Murder is wrong. Let's catch the people who commit it and send them away. That's all the message a crime-scene procedural needs. Oh, and they also need to get rid of this clashing-with-authority thing. People get enough inter-office politics at their jobs, they're not going to want to watch it on TV when they get home.
I LOVED this show from day one. I have always been a fan of law and order so this was more or less right up my alley. The cast is great and I like the fact that i have not seen any of them before this show. I hope the next season is as good as the first and i can not wait to see some new episodes.
I really enjoy this show, and I don't consider this to be a jump, but it bothers me nonetheless. On several occasions the coroner has been seen shaving the heads of the cadavers. On one show, crucial evidence was found as a result. As a former mortician, I can tell you that the heads of the deceased are never shaved. Can you imagine going to see dear old mom at the funeral home and finding Telly Savallas instead? This is a form of mutilation. Maybe I'm picky, but these thing jump out at me.
First episode. Total crap. Tommy models with clean fingernails, solving multiple-related murders, always without ever needing any live witnesses, but needing fancy computers everywhere to show ten-cent visual presentations. Completely lame.
Hasn't jumped yet, but they're on the edge. The moralizing is a bit much, but I like the unhappy endings.
This show is REAL must see TV.
This show has to follow up survivor. As hard as it sounds this show pulls it off! I love this show. This show is as clever and creative as Macgyver was.
I've just picked up the show in reruns, here in the second season, but I've been hooked! I do have some problems with the show: Baywatch-esque scientists, impersonating police officers (do CSI's REALLY inform the next of kin?) and my biggest pet-peeve - the gross-out "weapon entering the body" shots. Blech. Overall, though, I really like the characters, and the forensics experiments are neat! I've basically just had to suspend disbelief with some aspects, and then I can sit back and enjoy the show.
This show is amazing. Somehow the Clark County Crime Lab has no need whatsoever for the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police. Don't ANY of the murders being investigated also have POLICE investigating them? "Gee, we have a dead body here to autopsy--let's go to the crime scene and do our own investigation." Give me a break.
This show never jumped...for a few years I've wanted to work in forensics, so this show is REALLY interesting to me :) I love it. My only problem with it is that the CSI's have far too much contact with the family's and whatnot involved in the cases. In real life, investigators don't get as tied up with outsiders, it's more fact oriented. But I must say this show has some really great ideas. Oh, and the "nerdy" lab boy, the one you barely get to see, Eric Szmanda (spelling?) is SO hot.
This is currently my favorite show. I love the forensics part of it, but disagree that they involve the characters personal lives too much; I think it's just, enough of a teaser. I agree, too much moralizing, and the CSI's come off as to much like cops (they carry guns!?) But hey IT'S JUST TV!!
The comments are kinda long and funny, if you want to read it all just go to the site: www.jumptheshark.com click on A to Z and then C for CSI (of course!) and read it from there. :)
They have ALL the TV shows you watch (US & Brit I think), and yes, Buffy The Vampire Slayer is there also (hehe ;D)...
-
Actually, I feel that CSI is not delivering the same oomph that they did the first time around.. I'm no longer glued to my seat as I used to.
like the episode last week.. ;D I actually got up to get a bottle of water during one of Grissom's speeches.. ;D

-
hey was just watching part 1 of the finale and they got to introduce CSI miami! ;D
some thoughts (a warning though, i wasn't able to get all their names):
Horatio whatshisname a.k.a H (david caruso) - i was sorta right, he's a cross between brass and grissom. I just don't get the smart vibe from him yet. I didn't like the way they put a similar grissom quirk into his character ( i.e. weak spot for crimes involving kids). I like the fact that he's more an aggressive take charge kinda guy than grissom.
Latina coroner/pathologist chick: Am i the only one who found it wierd when she started talking to the dead body while she was looking for evidence? She does look more interesting than las vegas coroner guy though.
Blond, southern chick with an accent: Found it cool when she started speaking in spanish. Can't take the southern accent though. maybe it'll grow on me. I stilll believe that her past as a miami dolphins cheerleader or a past homecoming queen will be revealed some time in the series. ;D
Latino Scuba diving guy: I think he's the Nick of the group. He already had the wise cracks down.
Speed a.k.a Tim Speedle?: he's my new favorite character in CSI miami. he strikes me as a mix of warrick and sara. I found it wierd though that the Miami people seemed to show their guns alot more than the las vegas people.
*Their lab was waaaay more high tech than the las vegas crew or at least it looked to me that way.
* looks like we'll be seeing lots of bodies fished out of the glades.
SOme thoughts on the second case:
I wish i could do in photoshop what they did for the dead girl. I'd look like a supermodel too! ;D
The crap in the bag was just too gross. :P
-
Who's their Greg? I didn't know Emily Procter was playing the blond chick so when I first saw her I went "Oh My God! It's Ainsley Hayes!".
-
West wing! so that's where i've seen her before. Hey now there are 2 west wing alumi in CSI. ;D
ok so the second episode was going well but it just didn't seem like a finale episode until they got to the part where grissom reveals he's going deaf! interesting. Can't wait for next season. ;D
-
hey was just watcjing part 1 of the finale and they got to intorduce CSI miami!
As usual, I agree with most of your points (big surprise there, huh?). I thought I was the only one who was immediately put off by hot blonde chick's Southern accent.
I completely forgot it until I started watching the DVDs, but do you remember the original coroner on CSI (Las Vegas) was also an African American woman? I wonder what happened to her. Well, they cast another African American as the coroner in this new one... typecasting? BTW, if she looks familiar, she was the black girl on NEWSRADIO.
Scuba guy was Isabel's husband on ROSWELL.
I know they also added Kim Delaney to the cast, so with Caruso, that makes two NYPD BLUE alumni. Who are the two WEST WING alumni? What is this, a show for people who made wrong career decisions in a past life? ;)
-
I don't think I'll be watching CSI:Miami if they show it locally.. ever heard the phrase "Milking it for all its worth?".. IMHO, of course.

well, jorja fox used to be the bodyguard of the presidents daughter. She was gone after the first season though. Don't forget that she was also on ER. She disappeared from that one too without a big send-off.
I'm still gonna watch CSI miami. I'm a big sucker for whodunnits.
BTW,the guy who played tim speedle also played dante in "The Last Don". ;D
-
finished watching it today and was kinda disappointed with the cliffhanger... more dramatic than riveting... but effective nonetheless. ;D
yup... all the cast of CSI: Miami are familar faces to me too...
of course there's david caruso....
and the blond "southern" chick with the camera... she's the S&M girl from "Body Shots"... you know the one with brad rowe and sean patrick flannery.
the short haired guy... anyone remember him from "empire records"? no one seems to have mentioned him so far.
the black girl... yup. from newsradio and a small role on there's something about mary.
and yes there's the guy who plays isabel's husband in roswell.
not a bad cast... full of underrated actors... kinda like the first CSI, when it started. eh? ;D
-
Yaaaaarrggg....too much information! ;D Parang ang dami kong na-miss. Paano kasi I didn't watch it last night! Mamaya na lang hapon....
-
of course there's david caruso....
His name is Horatio Kane - ick! I'd take Gil Grissom anytime, though "H" seems more passionate (and emotional) than Gil.
the short haired guy... anyone remember him from "empire records"? no one seems to have mentioned him so far.
Oh yeah, I remember him! He irritated the heck outta me in that movie!
-
and the blond "southern" chick with the camera... she's the S&M girl from "Body Shots"... you know the one with brad rowe and sean patrick flannery.
She also played the hated (by me) Ainsley Hayes on The West Wing.
Really liked the Miami cast otherwise, though. And the last episode was nice - a puzzler more than a crime whatever chuva. Plus hey - Grissom's going deaf!
-
Watching CSI 2 hours straight (well, 1 1/2 actually) during "siesta" time, made me feel sleepy...I didn't get to watch the cliffhanger (Grissom's going deaf?), I took a catnap :-\ I'll probably catch it on Sunday na lang.
Of the Miami cast, the only persons familiar to me were Horacio Kane, the blonde who spoke Espanol (wasn't she in Baywatch also? Or a show similar to Baywatch?) and the coroner. The best line spoken in that episode for me was when Kane said "They fought like heroes for you..." to the little girl. I got all misty. ::) ;D
Last week, Katherine and Warrick had little scenes, remember? This week Petersen, Fox and Eads had little scenes. So while they were probably shooting last week's eppy (with the 3), they were also shooting the Miami eppy (with Warrick and Katherine)....
-
Having just watched half of Season One again on DVD, I've figured out the main difference between these two seasons:
Season Two did away with the personal aspects of the characters, as well was with plotlines extraneous to the crimes featured for the night.
Season One had Catherine and her child custody issues with her ex, Nick and his hooker, Warrick and his gambling problem/corrupt judge subplot, and Grissom with his romance with "face lady", his rivalry with the daytime CSI team's chief and his professional problems with the sheriff and the mayor.
There were no such storylines in Season Two, just a few short references to Warrick's gambling problem. Catherine suddenly looked like she had no family, and Grissom completely became a eunuch with no rivals/enemies. Even their continuing serial killer plotline which started with the show's pilot was abruptly ended this season.
As a result, the show is more like classical action TV shows: episodic, without the continuing subplots (the "soap opera element') that keeps a lot of viewers hooked to other current shows.
And judging from their ratings - it worked for them!
-
Nice observation, Mr. Hankey! I didn't notice that until I read your post. However, there was that one time in S2 that Sara threatened to leave and Gil sent her a plant - that should count, don't you think? :D
Personally, I wish they do inject some personal aspects to the series. I wish Grissom would hook up with either Catherine or Sara but hey, as you said, their formula for season 2 worked so I guess we could expect the same for season 3. :(
-
However, there was that one time in S2 that Sara threatened to leave and Gil sent her a plant - that should count, don't you think? :D
I remember that. There was also this episode on Sarah and Greg going on a lunch/date and the episode where Sarah identified with the victim (the one with no life outside the internet ba yun....yung walang circle of friends...???) These are probably all in one episode. :-\ Kalimutan ko na...And it all touched on Sarah's personal life in some ways.
I wish Grissom would hook up with either Catherine or Sara
:) Grissom and Catherine pwede pa...Grissom and Sarah? Ayaw. (http://www.parc.netfirms.com/smiles/ayaw.gif)
Oh, and I didn't get to watch the finale's last 30 minutes...Sayang!

Yes, as far as featuring Sara in these subplots goes - I think it's compensation, since she's the one who had NO subplots (at least none I could remember) from Season One.
-
For those who may have missed some episodes, CSI: Season 2 has started reruns on AXN. Two episodes every week: Mondays, 10PM-12MN.

I was wondering whether this belonged here or in the Small Talk section, but I think it'll only be of interest to those who watch the show, so I decided to centralize the CSI related threads here:

You want to reach the stars and to bring them down to form. Art, music and literature stimulate you. When motivated to solve a problem, you have a strong creative sense of insight, as well as practicality. Blue people tend to be trustworthy, reliable and honest. Others feel comfortable in your presence as you project and generate a non-threatening, serene, secure energy."

Nice quiz you found :). I took the quiz and my character is
(http://www.sinceimetyou.com/quiz/nick.jpg)
Charming, altruistic, and straightforward, you tend to be everybody's friend. As a people person, you often put others' needs above your own. While some people might feel they're in danger of being used, you only seek to be more useful. You're down to earth, so your intelligence and dedication when it comes to your profession might come as a bit of a surprise to people. Sometimes your zeal and enthusiasm when it comes to life can work to your benefit, sometimes it doesn't, but you tend to live by the creedo "Nothing ventured, nothing gained." Possessing a strong sense of what's right, you'll avidly defend your views. Laid back and friendly, you can be quick to temper when confronted with something that challenges your need for structure. Your physical appearance doesn't seem to be a focus, but you keep up with the trends and avoid sloppiness. You don't seem to apply that same need for order to relationships, however. You follow your heart, not your brain when it comes to other people and that's no different when looking for a love interest. Your ethical code applies to all aspects of your life. Approachable, trustworthy, and dependable--you are Nick Stokes.
Your color is ORANGE.
"Orange personalities reveal high energy and are often restless. Your competence and capabilities to organize are unmatched by any other color. You flow straight as an arrow when focused and like the sun at dawn, you give purpose to all who know you. You are very conscious of design, form and structure. No messy offices or homes for you."

I knew it! I'm a Sara-type!!! ::)
Confident at work but self-conscious outside your job, you've always tried to connect with others while wondering why they can't connect with you. While you can lay a smackdown with the best of them, you also possess an empathetic streak that is both a strength and a weakness in your line of work. Despite your nonchalance regarding your own appearance, your brain and inner beauty seems to attract the opposite sex in droves. You tend to be goal oriented and focused on details--both of which seems to manifest in both your personal and professional lives. Quick with a comeback, your sense of humor is both an asset and a weapon. You are Sara Sidle.
Your color is RED.
"Red personalities are dynamic and direct but also generous. They are strong in character and love to be active and competitive. You are solid in knowing what you want and usually win. You have strength, courage, and conviction of your rights, as well as wanting equal justice for all.

I'm Warrick?
Not the most open of books, you might be best characterized by the adage "still waters run deep." You're a great student of people while not divulging much about yourself. It's not for lack of having a story to tell; your insight just lends itself more to observing others. You learn best this way. Tending to find comfort in routine, you find yourself trying to channel your addictive personality into your job or relationships. When it comes to style, your wardrobe is as inscrutable as your personality. You seem comfortable in everything from formal wear to swim wear. Always on the lookout for the right person, you're very conscious of the pitfalls that come with commitment. That said, you tend to avoid easy hook-ups. A good listener, you earn respect despite being very open about your flaws. Unflappable, vulnerable, and perceptive--you are Warrick Brown.
Your color is PURPLE.
"Purple personalities bring sparkling youthfulness, imagination and fresh ideas to most situations. You usually project a calm and cool exterior and are capable of dealing with demanding events. You have attitude which allows you to 'take it in your stride' and you tend not to panic easily, and act with clarity. Your contemporary acceptance of today's' color world enables you to give faith to others. Some seek you for enlightenment, others for practical insight; for whoever seeks you, you offer inner calmness. purple people relate well to the 'idea' world and anything that is innovative."
i took the quiz four times and ended up as nick only once. the rest of the time my changed answers still came up with warrick.
and here i thought i thought i was gonna be greg. ;D

Took the quiz thrice. Got Sara twice and Gil once. Yikes! And I was SO angling for Catherine! I may not be an ex-stripper turned CSI, but I was an ex-... um... rentboy turned medical student, which really should count for something. And I'd be a really great dominatrix too! (Jeez, I can't believe I said all this stuff in a public forum, hope my mom never reads it).
-
mwa ha ha. That my friend is what we call an overshare. ;D
don't worry, if nobody ever gets catherine maybe we can make you the honorary catherine of the thread.

I discovered something "odd": when I first watched The Hunger Artist episode a few months back, it ended with the revelation of Gil's impending deafness and his pondering in the street. However, when I watched the same episode from another source, the scene I described above was there but it wasn't the ending: it was Gil in a doctor's office. Now did I miss anything the first time around or was it edited by AXN? ???

Grissom in the doctor's office took place BEFORE the street scene in the version I originally saw on AXN.
For some reason, sometimes "cliffhanger endings" are edited when shows air as reruns or in foreign markets. I remember during the era of the nighttime soaps, DALLAS on video (taped from CBS in the States) ended one season with Bobby Ewing dying in a hospital bed... one scene after a car crash. I was surprised that when the episode aired on RPN 9, the season ended with just the car crash - no final death scene with the family gathered around the bed.
-

Ey thanks, Mr Hankey! :D
One thing that bugs me now is: I just saw the first three episodes of season 1 a few days ago and I'm surprised at Gil Grissom's attitude - he's jolly! I mean, he shouted an expletive at a corpse in the pilot (as a joke to the ill-fated Holly Gribbs) and he cracked a mischievous smile in the third episode (when he showed Catherine his gift to her daughter) - a very very very far cry from the serious, grim and sage-like Grissom I have come to know when I came aboard mid-season 1. Why the attitude adjustment? Or am I a few episodes away from his rude awakening?
Oh and they had a different opening credits song pala. I like the Who's Who Are You pa rin but the original song's not bad. :D
-
Why the attitude adjustment? Or am I a few episodes away from his (Grissom's) awakening?
I think they just made him a dead-serious eunuch after he fails miserably when he tries to court face lady.
Oh and they had a different opening credits song pala. I like the Who's Who Are You pa rin but the original song's not bad. :D
NO, they didn't. Who Are You has always been the theme song of this show in broadcast television versions of it. What you're hearing is just the fake theme song used for the UK and Canadian DVD releases of CSI, since The Who was asking for a bit too much in royalties for use of the song for those DVDs. I think they ironed it out for the upcoming US Season One boxed set, though.

No announcement for CSI: Miami? If not, then I think my prediction was right, and it's the show they'll use to alternate with CSI when it goes off season.

The third season premiere is on February, though I don't know what exact date.
I saw the first eleven episodes of the third season - a mix of highs and lows but this time, the intrigue and suspense is heightened with Grissom's impending deafness. Don't miss the second episode for the seriousness of his new predicament.
-
The third season debut is on Wednesday, February 19th, 9PM.
Surprisingly, it'll be the only NEW show/season on AXN on the weekdays-at-9PM slot. The rest of the scheduled shows are old: Pacific Blue, Sheena, The Best of Outer Limits, etc.

thanks for the heads up. Gumby's right, the second episode is a cool one 'cause the distinctive flaw/backstory of each character is highlighted in that episode. you'll end up cheering them on.

Heads up again, guys!
The premiere of Season Three of C.S.I. on AXN is this Wednesday at 9PM already.
To get in the mood, take this quiz (http://www.sinceimetyou.com/quiz/index.htm) if you haven't. :)

Anyway, for those who want to catch it, the rerun is at 1:00AM later.

It was ok by me. I liked that the characters seem looser and more comfortable. For example, last season i dont think i can recall Greg openly flirting with Sara like that. its a good change IMO. Plus the new guys, specially pathologist no.2 show promise.
Besides, its not how you start, its how you finish. :)

Introspective, studious, and an observer, you exude intelligence from your every pore. People always come to you when they need answers. A natural teacher, you enjoy enlightening others without ever descending into arrogance. Knowing others without ever having them fully know you, you always keep people guessing. However, you're honest almost to a fault, letting people know exactly where they stand in your world. You'd rather spend time with your books and individual pursuits than with acquaintances. You wouldn't be considered outgoing, but once someone earns your trust, they've also earned acceptance. Your physical appearance doesn't seem to be a priority, but it does reflect your overall propensity for neatness. In the relationship arena you tend to tread very carefully; you weigh every decision, since allowing someone inside your ordered life puts that same order as risk. That said, when you speak, people listen. Quick with a compliment when one is deserved, the inherent truth in your words go a long way to put others at ease. Your nature is a mercurial one - you can be both charming and 'confusing', sometimes in the same moment. Intellectual, inexplicable, and irresistible-- you are Gil Grissom.
;) This is me exactly, but I always thought I was more like Greg personality wise, Grissom is too serious to be me.
-
BTW just seen C.S.I. seasons premiere its ok but I think they could have done better.
-
Last night, premier episode Season 3, Nick and Katherine, drove those cars with those nitro boosters (?) to test something. Was that realistic? Do CSI's really have to do that? Or was it just for the "Fast and the Furious" feel for the show? ;D

CSI is coming to Studio 23 soon!

oh, no! sana wag nilang tanggalin sa AXN.

bakit naman nila tatanggalin sa AXN?
-
Medyo off-topic but has anyone played the new CSI PC game? Been reading some good reviews about it and I'm quite interested.
Available na kaya sa Data Blitz yun? I passed it over for DVDs when I saw it sa US eh. ;)
-
I didn't know there was a CSI game. I only know of the Law & Order PC game.
I'll check it out. Thanks for the info.
-

like what they did to Survivor. nung pinalabas sa S23, nawala na sa AXN.
-
AXN stopped airing Survivor kasi maraming nagcomplain about animal brutality, not because Studio 23 started airing it. I think it was the Australian Outback that got them protesting.
-

Which, I think, was hypocritical. I bet the protesters were celebrating their victory by eating medium-rare hamburgers in their backyard.

Where did you read that? I emailed AXN about the disappearance of SURVIVOR when Survivor: Marquesas wasn't carried, and they said it was a licensing problem beyond their control.
I know they stopped airing Survivor: The Australian Outback in India (http://www.agencyfaqs.com/www1/news/stories/2001/03/15/2051.html) because of the pig slaughter incident, but it continued airing in all other territories covered by AXN, even the next season was covered. India even got the folowing season of Survivor on AXN, but it was one week delayed from the rest of Asia, so any objectionable scenes could be edited out in time.

uh, here in pinoydvd? ;D

Now I love CSI. I think it is God's gift to nerds. But I'm getting irritated with their storylines, as if William Petersen isn't irritating enough. Why does it always have to feature some psychotic family relationship as integral to the murder. Why can't it be some simple stranger burgling into the house who kills darling Cindy Lou, instead having daddy or mommy or brother doing it. I mean, the appeal for CSI (at least to me) are the jazzy effects and the science investigations, and not the tawdry melodrama attendant to each case.
just ranting along...
-
I didn't know there was a CSI game. I only know of the Law & Order PC game.
I finally got the CSI game and it's actually nice. You play a new investigator and get assigned to five cases to solve. In each case you would have one of the show's cast as a partner, with Jim Brass as your police liaison all throughout.
Though the replayability's low (once you solve the cases - that's it), the best attribute of the game were the voices - they got the actors in the show do the voice overs, from William Petersen to Greg Sanders :)
-
I mean, the appeal for CSI (at least to me) are the jazzy effects and the science investigations, and not the tawdry melodrama attendant to each case.
But oftentimes the melodrama is what makes the case interesting - and it certainly adheres to the show's premise that nothing is what it seems.
IMO, the melodrama was actually lessened in seasons 2 and 3 as they concentrated more on the cases. Season 1 had the most human drama - with Gil falling for Teri Miller, Catherine and her problems with Eddie, Nick and the murdered prostitute, Warwick with his gambling problems, and Sara as the headstrong newbie. In the latter seasons, almost all of these were put on the backburner.

Uncanny, while watching Larry King Live, I remember this episode of CSI where this DUI violator hit a man and let him die in his windshield.

Uncanny, while watching Larry King Live, I remember this episode of CSI where this DUI violator hit a man and let him die in his windshield.
That IS amazing.
I remember I read an article in People magazine a while back that said that all the cases on the show were inspired by true cases, but just modified slightly for dramatic (and legal) purposes. I didn't believe it at the time - but I guess it must be true!
I'm guessing this incident must've happened quite some time ago, and just brought to trial now? At least I hope that's the case... either that, or she copied what she saw on the show. That's disturbing!
-
Who saw this week's episode on AXN?
Sure, the episode was about stand up comedians, so on top of Gilbert Gottfried and Bobcat Goldthwait (Man, that guy has lost a lot of weight!), let's amuse the audience with famous sitcom stars:
I mean, although their CSI recurring characters were non-vital to last night's episode, Leslie Bega from Head of the Class and Wallace Langham from Veronica's Closet made brief cameos. And to top that, they had JANICE from F*R*I*E*N*D*S and THE SOUP NAZI from Seinfeld!
Talk about your well-planned stunt casting, huh?
-
Just saw an episode of CSI: Miami.
My one sentence description of the series: CSI: Miami is a flashier CSI. The characters wear flashier clothes and they drive Hummers instead of Fords or Chevrolets. Aside from the superficial differences, the Miami is the same as its big brother in all respects.
Oh, there's also one noticeable difference. David Caruso is the only actor in Miami that has a commanding screen presence, the others, including Kim Delaney are very nondescript. Not like the actors in CSI who can really hold their own against William Petersen and Marg Helgenberger.
I can't wait to see the rumored CSI: London. :)
-

That windshield incident happened a few years ago, though judgment was rendered just last week, so I guess the producers did adopt that case for the show. Horrible as that woman's actions were, I was shocked by the sentence: 60 years in prison. That would probably reduced somewhat on appeal.
Just saw an episode of CSI: Miami.
I did see the CSI:Miami cross-over episode with Vegas. Just as indie says, seems like the same banana in flashier wrapping. But I think I'd prefer Miami slightly over Vegas. Whatever the charms of Gina Gershon are obviated by my supreme annoyance at William Petersen's character. I think Caruso would be an easier actor to take. And that is a sentence that is not often heard, nor used lightly.
CSI: Miami also has one of my favorite actresses (Khandi Alexander) from one of my favorite series (NewsRadio). She plays the coroner with a touch of voodoo.
I once asked a friend if there was a chance there'd be a CSI: Manila, and my friend replied that if there was one, it would be a sitcom.

Dude, have you actually seen our forensics lab?
-
Dude, have you actually seen our forensics lab?
Nope. Nor do I have any expectations to be met if and when I do see it.
This I know though - our local law enforcement forensics have a reputation of being inaccurate, so much so that people who do have to rely on accurate forensic findings for whatever purpose prefer to rely on private local experts (most reliably, they say, from the UP College of Medicine) or foreign government experts.

Chalk me up as a fan of this one.
Not big on TV. Don't really like being a slave to a schedule. So far, in my lifetime, I've only been a fan of a small handful of TV shows that I followed semi-religiously ---Simpsons, Seinfeld, NYPD Blue, Crime Story , Millennium, Wiseguy , a few others I'm forgetting. All the rest I could take or leave. ( Haven't even seen a single episode of Homicide, 6 Ft.Under or Sopranos but I want to and whatever little I've seen of Buffy , Smallville and Sex and the City I thought was pretty damn awful. )
The plots do waver from time to time but I like this particular cocktail- -- the noir tendencies, the police procedural mechanisms, the character dynamics. And the writing is almost always solid (Unfriendly Skies, Blood Drops, the two-part pilot) I have high hopes for CSI Miami because of Caruso. And I suppose we part ways on William Petersen, gurang. I've always been a fan of his since To Live and Die In L.A.. (Same with Caruso.)
Surprisingly, though, I have to double-check the name of the rest of the cast even after I've been marathoning my DVDs this past weekend. I keep referring to the black guy as Alien 4 and the other guy as jawline. Only Jorja Fox registers but that's because she's hot. ;) I'm not as anal as I used to be ,I guess. :)
But good show. ;D
CSI:London sounds intrguing. But CSI:Tokyo that I'd see. For sure, the crimes are going to be way way more bizarre.
My P0.02.

Another thing going for CSI is longevity of quality, which should be a prerequisite of any TV series.
I tried sitting through the latest episode of Alias, whose first few episodes had me really really jazzed, and I couldn't finish it. How quickly the soup turned rotten on this one. Jenifer Garner and Victor Garber are still sort-of saving graces but the quality has deteriorated, the writing dumbed down to the level of a ten year old. Then I find out it's created by the same guy who did the need-I-say-it's-crap Felicity. (Just this weekend, actually, so unhip am I) Which explains everything.
No such problems with CSI.
-
is it the same cast?
No, it's not:
It's not even as well-written as the original, and despite having less competition than its parent show (which airs against NBC's powerhouse Must-See TV Thursday lineup), 8 million more people watch CSI than CSI: Miami every week.
It's sort of like CSI Season Three - not as exciting as its first two seasons, but still interesting to watch.
I haven't seen any episodes since they were forced to retool the show since it was underperforming, so hopefully it got a little better when Kim Delaney was fired.
-
Whoah, Delaney was fired? What happened? I have to admit that she really looked out of her element in the series. You just couldn't relate to her character.
-
Whoah, Delaney was fired?
She was actually just brought in at the last minute mainly to create tension for Horatio (she wasn't even in the cross-over launch), and her character was really forced. If you watch several episodes, it's like both she and Caruso had the same function on the team.
You could see her character was in trouble since her screen time diminished more and more with each episode. It was very noticeable.
-

Thanks for the info. ;D Delaney does look like a jittery Helgenberger in her role.
I actually saw the cross-over episode and it was really, really cool! The dynamics between Caruso and Helgenberger should be explored more in coming seasons.
-

I agree with that one! She'd be the perfect addition to the Miami Team.
But two fiery redheads might be too much for one show. Plus Grissom would miss her too much. ::)
-
I'd be content with a few more crossovers. ;D
Since the Vegas team went to Miami, they should do it the other way around. I'd love to see how the writers will play Grissom's role against Horatio's -- two over-earnest and highly-opinionated men ... galing!!
;D

I agree - I was actually hoping for a Gil/Horatio encounter back in the cross-over launch.
While I do agree that Catherine would make a great addition to the Miami team, I think they should transfer either Nick or Warrick instead as they basically perform the same duties naman in Las Vegas. And with the addition of Greg, the cast in Las Vegas kinda become crowded na (IMO) considering that they have recurring characters pa.

Who saw this week's episode on AXN?
Among those who did, how many of you were wondering if Jorja Fox was pregnant because of her weird mood and her bulging abdomen in one scene?
I'm curious, since several people have asked me about this already.

Did not notice Jorga's bulging tummy though.
-
I also noticed the distended abdomen. I'll have to look around the net to find out if she's pregnant. In the last article I read on her (Playboy), she said she has a phobia for commitment and marriage. Maybe a baby's not one of her phobias.
-
I thought there was something odd about her figure! Pero anong reactions niyo sa love angle? Personally I was weirded out :o Looking forward to the Season Finale ;D

I also noticed the distended abdomen. I'll have to look around the net to find out if she's pregnant.
acidburn already researched on the subject after I asked her about it by text. It seems there were many discussions about her being pregnant when the episode aired in the US. It also turns out that Jorja Fox herself was aghast since people were calling her up after seeing the episode and asking her if she was pregnant! acid reports that as a result, she asked for a complete wardrobe change for next season. ;D
-
Baka masyado lang siyang maraming ininom na Coke so her puson got big? ;D
-
my wife and i also noticed Jorja Fox's tummy when we watched that episode... being CSI n00bies (napanood pa lang namin e yung episodes from the 1st season DVD and some from the current season), akala namin Grissom got her pregnant, that's why she's acting all weird around him during that episode... (Akala namin may na-miss kaming episode na nag-date na sila or something like that, or may hidden affair pala sila na bigla na lang ilalabas tulad nung ginawa sa The Practice when Bobby and Lindsay's relationship was revealed)
-
CrUzSACK is correct of course, vic - victim. :)
as for the others...
DB (dead body)
GSR (gun shot residue)
UV & ALS (ultra-violet and alternate light source) Used to reveal blood or semen left in a crime scene.
OIS (officer involved shooting)
CODIS (Combined DNA Index System) Greg often says: "I ran it through CODIS and this is what I got..."
-
Did anyone see the teaser tonight?
CSI MIAMI
August 6 9PM
AXN
Anyway, I have a question...why is it that these CSI's when they go into a crime scene na indoors, they don't turn on the lights? They use the flashlight instead, nagpapakahirap maghanap ng evidence using the flashlight. ??? Isn't it that the only time they turn off the lights is when they use this blue-light thing (to check for blood/semen)? ??? But otherwise, when they've checked for blood and everything....why don't they turn on the lights instead of squinting in the dark (well, semi-darkness really since may malaking flashlight naman sila).

For those who want to see the famous C.S.I. episode where they introduced the cast/characters of C.S.I. Miami (working with Catherine and Warrick), AXN is replaying the episode this week, Wednesday, at 9PM, before next week's C.S.I. Miami debut in the same timeslot.
Nice move on their part. :)

Oh, goodie!! I love that episode. ;D I especially love the first scene where David Caruso appears. The man is such a commanding screen presence.
-

For those sick of Caruso and company who are looking for the original team:
CSI Season Three begins reruns on AXN this Monday, October 27, 2003, 10PM-12MN.
2 episodes a week. I guess the fourth season should debut shortly after this string of reruns is over.
-
thank goodness. My monday viewing is a bit empty now that Boomtown is gone.
-
Hay salamat! I'll take CSI Las Vegas reruns over new CSI Miami episodes!

i also found it amusing when, on last night's second episode, Grissom was flirting with a dwarf, with an intellectual play of words concerning their "differences". hehehe.

If I heard it right, after this series of Season Three reruns, CSI Season Four debuts in February 2004 on AXN.
So I did hear it right:
C.S.I.: Season Four premieres on Wednesday, February 11, 9:00PM on AXN.
Look out for 24's George Mason (Xander Berkeley) in a recurring role this year.
Goodbye, Horatio! ;D

oh thank goodness. no more david caruso and his constant scene chewing.
I want my original CSI. ;D

I saw the teasers. Grissom has grown a goatie? The goatie did something for him and his "geeky" character. Aba, biglang ma-appeal! Machong-macho ang dating. LOL! ;D
-
So we finally get to see the famous/infamous Mr. & Mrs. Serial Killer pilot Cinescape’s been raving about. Cool!
Only thing I need is the first season DVD od CSI Miami. Love that show!
-
I think CSI Miami is a bit darker than Las Vegas...is it because of David Caruso's presence? He's too detective-esque than as a CSI (hm, baka siguro he often reminds me of his role in NYPD Blue...) :)
-
It's more straightforward. Caruso's Horatio is more cop than scientist , a striking contrast to Grissom's ultranerd, and in keeping with the archetype/stereotype of Miami cops, Horatio's flashy and preening and self-absorbed and drives flashy vehicles- - -which is either what Miami cops really do/how Miami cops really are or what television has taught us Miami cops really do. Either way, it all adds to his persona. And the tenor of the show , which tries to be as diametrically opposed to its Las Vegas counterpart - - -less science, more action,etc.etec. It would've been downright silly if it followed the same formula. The writing can get rudimentary at times, contrived often, but so can Las Vegas, it's just less obvious because it's steeped in a lot of tech and biology while Miami isn't. I don't think it's a better show than Vegas , just different.
CSI Miami isn't Six Feet Under (quite possibly the best-written recent show on TV, rivaled only by The Simpsons and Cowboy Bebop ) but the writing doesn't suck as bad as bilgewater like Sex in the City and Friends are either.
CSI New York I'm curious about although I would've personally prefered CSI London or even CSI Tokyo or CSI Hong Kong. That would've been really dark and intense and weird.

read it somewhere
apologies na lang sa author ng isang CSi forum
For a show that is very serious, CSI is one of the funniest shows on tv. Proves one of my favorite points, never take yourself too seriously.
Captain Jim Brass: Everyone should witness an autopsy on their first night.
Gil Grissom: There are three things people love to stare at: a babbling brook, a roaring fire, and a Zamboni going around and around.
Catherine Willows: I love a Zamboni.
Gil Grissom: Everybody loves a Zamboni.
Gil Grissom: High altitude enhances the entire sexual experience. It increases the euphoria.
Sara Sidle: Well, that's good. I don't know if it's that good... cite your source.
Captain Jim Brass: You're under arrest for obstructing justice, tampering with states evidence, and violating seven articles of scumbag.
Gil Grissom: I come here for calamari.
Catherine Willows: Oh... Alone?
Gil Grissom: No. Sometimes I have a beer with it.
Warrick Brown: What does Grissom order when he goes out at night?
Sara Sidle: He goes out at night?
Warrick Brown: See how little we know about him?
Gil Grissom: Every day we meet people on the worst day of their lives.
Warrick Brown: Well, you know Grissom, shortest distance between two points is science. For Catherine, it's pounding the pavement.
Warrick Brown: So were you a jock or a brain?
Gil Grissom: I was a ghost.
Cath is a former stripper
Greg Sanders: So, the French Palace, huh?
Catherine Willows: Yup.
Greg Sanders: You know, friends and I go there. Payday Fridays.
Catherine Willows: Uh huh.
Greg Sanders: Maybe I saw you perform.
Catherine Willows: Oh, I doubt it.
Greg Sanders: Why?
Catherine Willows: You would've remembered.
Catherine Willows: You're right, you know. I should be just like you. Alone in my hermetically sealed condo, watching Discovery on the big screen, working genius-level crossword puzzles. But no relationships, no chance any will slop over into a case. Yeah, right. I want to be just like you.
Gil Grissom: Technically it's a townhouse. And the crosswords are advanced, not genius. But you're right, I'm deficient in a lot of ways. But I never screw up one of my cases with personal stuff.
Catherine Willows: Grissom...WHAT personal stuff?
Warrick Brown: Only clue he's got is a missing boat, which sucks because...it's missing.
Greg Sanders: I would never doubt your word.
Catherine Willows: Smart man.
Gil Grissom: You gotta breathe through your ears, Gribbs.
Catherine Willows: If there's one thing you learn on this job is that human beings are capable of anything.
Eddie, Cath's ex is accused of rape
Gil Grissom: What's the status?
Catherine Willows: Skin samples from under the women's fingernails are consistent with Ed's. I saw some bruises. But Eddie's style has always been very...involved. Vigorous.
Gil Grissom: ...Vigorous.
Warrick Brown: She's trying to tell you Eddie likes it rough.
Catherine Willows: Thank you, Warrick.
Catherine Willows: How much does this place clear a week?
Lady Heather: Ten grand.
Catherine Willows: I'm not with the IRS.
Lady Heather: Okay. Twenty.
Catherine Willows: I don't make that in three months.
Lady Heather: Sex pays a lot better than death.
Catherine Willows: Plus the outfits are cooler.
Catherine Willows: Never doubt. Never look back. That's how I live my life.
Gil Grissom: I admire that.
Gil Grissom: It's interesting to me how you always expect the worst.
Catherine Willows: You see, that way I'm never disappointed. And sometimes I'm nicely surprised.
Lawyer: You took your clothes off for a living?
Catherine Willows: For a VERY good living.
Dr. David Robbins: I'll know more later.
Gil Grissom: You always tell me that.
Dr. David Robbins: Yes, I do.
Greg Sanders: Cath? Your DNA results are back. According to my DNA data, the types are 814 quadrillion to one - that your suspect is our killer. Pretty good stats...
Catherine Willows: Yeah, considering there are only six billion people in world.
Gil Grissom: Greg?
Greg Sanders: Yeah.
Gil Grissom: I need you to take off your shoes and socks.
Greg Sanders: See, now we're getting into this whole strip forensics thing, and I'm not sure I can hang with that. Even if you are my boss.
Nick Stokes: Ten bucks says the owner sells the place.
Gil Grissom: By law you have to disclose everything: 2 bedrooms, 1 bath, and a skeleton.
Catherine returns to Vegas from Miami
Catherine Willows: Hello.
Gil Grissom: Hey. Nice tan.
Catherine Willows: Nice suit.
Gil Grissom: Yeah, well, I knew you were coming back today, so I dressed up.
Catherine Willows: Yeah...right....
Cath looks him up and down
Catherine Willows: Nothing. It's just unusual to...see you dressed...like that.
Gil Grissom: I had to go to the chief's funeral.
Catherine Willows: Missed me that much, huh?
Dr. David Robbins: You say tomato... I say cause of death.
Gil Grissom: Hey Doc, tell me something I don't know.
Dr. David Robbins: When I was in fourth grade, I dropped karate because some kid half my size made me cry.
Gil Grissom: It's a carpet beetle. It shouldn't be here.
Catherine Willows: The vic seem more like a hardwood floors kind of guy to you?
Gil Grissom: Sometimes I can be a little thoughtless.
Catherine Willows: I wouldn't say that. Not just any guy would walk a girl to the morgue.
Catherine Willows: So, are you thinking what I'm thinking?
Gil Grissom: How amazing the universe is. Everything made from the same carbon, stars to trees, trucks to human bones.
Catherine Willows: Uh, no, I was thinking that we have about 100 bone fragments. We could ID this body before the end of the shift.
Catherine Willows: So, any luck with the blood and hair samples I gave you?
Greg Sanders: Don't insult me. Luck is only for those without skill.
Catherine Willows: Spoken like a man who's never hit the jackpot.
Greg Sanders: Sad, but true.
Guy: Hello?
Catherine Willows: Oh, hey.
Guy: Who's this? I just dialed my own damn beeper.
Catherine Willows: It's my beeper now. I found it. Bye...
Guy: It ain't yours. That's my beeper! I do a lot of business on that beeper!
Catherine Willows: What kinda business?
Guy: Oh, you know. Slangin' a little somethin' somethin'.
Catherine Willows: Maybe a little bling-bling?
Guy: What do you know about a little bling-bling?
Catherine Willows: Invite me over to your crib, baby. You might find out.
Guy: Three Aces Motel. Room 202.
she hangs up, and looks at Sara who was listening
Sara Sidle: So what's a "bling bling"?
Catherine Willows: Got me.
Dr. David Robbins: The leg was severed post - mortem.
Catherine Willows: Well, that's good news.
Dr. David Robbins: How do you figure?
Catherine Willows: Would you want to be alive while your leg's being cut off?
Nick Stokes: It's our job to know how. You heard Grissom: the more 'how' the less 'why'. The less the 'how' the more the 'why'.
Catherine Willows: Hey, Nick. Grissom's not always right. Do yourself a favor ; think for yourself. I mean that as a friend, okay?
Catherine Willows: I just realized that you and I have a very healthy relationship.
Gil Grissom: We do?
Catherine Willows: When we have a problem, I don't paint Greg in latex and stick a straw up his nose.
Gil Grissom: Good. He'd probably like it.
Catherine Willows: You're supposed to say something revealing back to me.
Gil Grissom: Okay. I never told anyone this, Catherine.
screen fades to black
Woman: You don't know what you're talking about.
Catherine Willows: Well, that's a pretty dangerous thing to say to a scientist.
Sara Sidle: You're awake, I hate you.
Greg Sanders: All work and no play makes Greg a dull boy.
Gil Grissom: All play and no work makes Greg an UNEMPLOYED boy.
Gil Grissom: May we come in?
Lady Heather: Say the magic word.
Captain Jim Brass: Warrant.
Gil Grissom: Amazing how the sight of blood can clear a room.
to Warrick
Catherine Willows: Whatever you say, Superfly.
Nick Stokes: So, what do you think it is? Cocaine maybe?
Catherine Willows: Nope.
Nick Stokes: How can you be sure?
Catherine Willows: Never you mind.
Sara Sidle: Body farm...creepy. What was it like?
Catherine Willows: Quiet.
Catherine Willows: If something doesn't feel right to you, it usually isn't.
Nick Stokes: There's a sucker born every minute.
Gil Grissom: Yeah, and they all come to Vegas.

Grissom: Since I met you. :-*
In one of the later Season 3 episodes, Sara asks Grissom out to dinner. Unfortunately, Grissom stubbornly wanted to keep the professional distance between them.

I also recall it was Grissom who called in Sara Sidle to join the team after Holly Gribbs was shot. Looks like they've known each other from way back.

from what i recall... grissom mentioned in the pilot eposide that sara attended one of his lectures before. ;)
BTW, is it just me... or are the producers TRYING to make gil grissom's character look a little more butch. i mean, that last shot with him in the firing range? what was THAT all about? did the ear operation hit some part of his brain? (add to that that he's a lot more hot-headed and the beard...) it was his cool kind of geekiness that attracted a lot of the audiences before... what's with the change? if we needed more testosterone in the show... warrick and nick can already provide that. ???

He had the beat cop whose badge was stolen and found in the sewer and the 2 surveillance cops all under suspicion, remember? The gun is more for his protection in the field since he knew the field cops won't be as protective of the field CSIs from hereon, particularly him, since Grissom had several of their own as suspects. Only Jim Brass was more forgiving.
-
My one sentence description of the series: CSI: Miami is a flashier CSI. The characters wear flashier clothes and they drive Hummers instead of Fords or Chevrolets.
Miami = flashier.
Remember Miami Vice. :)
-
I agree - I was actually hoping for a Gil/Horatio encounter back in the cross-over launch.
This will never happen. William Petersen had been very vocal about his disapproval for having a Miami spin-off, and is as vocal against the New York spin-off. Hence, he didn't "cross over" to Miami in that episode.

uh yeah... that's true... i still smell something fishy. i doubt if ONE episode will make him go through such a personality change! i have to be honest. i don't like the direction his character is going. if you want edgy... horatio is already there. we don't need gil becoming horatio all of a sudden. gil made it cool to become a geek... and now he's brandishing a gun? puh-leez! :P

thanks cruzack! now at least i know i'm not the only one who's dissatisfied so far with the way gil's character has been written this season. i just think this way too much of a shift in his personality (so much that it's "out of character"!) if this was an attempt to make gil grissom more appealing to the ladies, somehow i don't think it'll work. :)
if they wanna make gil look more like a stud-muffin... let him hook up with someone like lady heather. :P :P

Bad news... :'(
CBS sacks 2 stars in 'CSI' salary flap
By Gary Levin, USA TODAY
LOS ANGELES — CSI has fired two cast members after they didn't show up for work in a salary dispute.
George Eads, who plays Nick Stokes, and Jorja Fox, who plays Sara Sidle, were dismissed by CBS Thursday, the first day of scheduled filming on the show's fifth season. Both had three years left in their current contracts. But as actors often do, they held out for bigger pay increases.
The network, which refused to comment, is said to already have begun casting replacement actors for similar roles. CBS chief Leslie Moonves appears to be setting a hard-line example by refusing to negotiate with actors still under contract, particularly those in supporting roles. Co-star Marg Helgenberger also is angling for more money, and although she called in sick Thursday, she is expected to return. The other actors, including William Petersen, were not affected.
CSI is TV's top drama, averaging nearly 27 million viewers. It is a critical asset to the network, which is preparing to launch a second spinoff, CSI: NY, this fall.
-
Bad news... :'(
CBS is stupid to make this decision, just because of the salary
-
According to this (http://edition.cnn.com/2004/SHOWBIZ/TV/07/22/csi.eads.ap/index.html), George Eads had no ulterier motives for being absent for shooting, and he merely overslept that day.
-
Oh wow, poor George Eads!
-
Of course that's what he'll say now...
But I do give him the benefit of the doubt. He was on too many short-lived series for him to suddenly develop a walk-out attitude. He'd know better, seeing how hard it was for him to finally land on a hit show after years of struggling on shows like "Savannah" and "Grapevine".
Hey, all his shows are Studio 23 property locally. ::)
-
And the continuing real-life drama continues....
A Variety email alert says "CBS has rehired CSI star Jorja Fox and is talking to George Eads about a reprieve as well. Fox will be back on the set of CSI when the show resumes production next week, insiders said. The actress was axed last week when CBS execs believed she had failed to comply with a request to sign a letter stating she had no plans to skip work while she and several other thesps sought raises." An article at Yahoo added that "Thesp [Fox], via reps, has said she did return the letter but did so via mail rather than fax, making the entire incident a misunderstanding. It's unclear if CBS ever received Fox's form in the mail." It is believed Jorja will return at the same salary. However, for Eads, "it's too soon to say if he'll be back, but all signs Thursday afternoon pointed to an amicable resolution." CBS declined comment.
Looks like the two will be back after all, which is good news for the show.
-
Short-lived drama. They're both back on the show, with NO pay increase. ;D

Fox, Eads Back on "CSI" Beat
by Lia Haberman
Jul 23, 2004, 6:35 PM PT
The evidence is hard to ignore.
All clues point to Jorja Fox and George Eads rejoining CSI next week following a scuttled bid for a salary hike.
As previously reported by E!, Fox was tapped to return to CBS' forensic science thriller earlier this week. By late Friday, the network also confirmed that Eads, too, will be back. Both actors are due on set next week after reaching agreements with the network.
However, the actors will return without the salary boost she'd been hoping for. Both Fox and Eads had been offered an extra $20,000 on top of their $100,000-per-episode paychecks, according to the Hollywood Reporter, but the duo had pushed for more.
Instead, CBS pulled the plug on Fox and Eads last week after he skipped the first day of shooting for CSI's fifth season and she failed to sign a document promising she'd show up for work.
Now, they will return to work for the same money they had been earning before CBS called her bluff, per the Reporter.
Fox was said to be "mystified" by her firing, according to Variety, because she thought she'd met CBS' letter-sending deadline.
E! News Live sources said the Fox matter was ruled a misunderstanding, clearing the way for her return. She was officially invited back on Thursday.
Eads' situation was resolved Friday, following a goofy public mea culpa.
Speaking to TV critics while promoting the TNT biopic Evel Knievel, Eads blamed a faulty alarm clock for his tardiness.
"I overslept...I woke up white as a sheet three-and-a-half hours after I was supposed to be on the set," said Eads, who claimed to have "apologized nine ways to Sunday."
"It's a big misunderstanding, straight up," Eads said Wednesday. "I want all this to work out. CSI is a part of who I am."
Initially, the lovefest wasn't echoed by network honcho Les Moonves, who, earlier this week, called the pink-slipping a fair business decision. "There comes a point where we feel a contract is a contract," he said.
Moonves also pointed out that the network had been prepared to give Fox and Eads a raise even thought it was under no contractual obligation to do so.
Proving that it doesn't always pay to be the squeaky wheel, one of the show's secondary stars, Eric Szmanda, who plays DNA geek Greg Sanders, has quietly been given a raise and is expected to spend more time in the field and out of the lab next season.
Also being added to the show's payroll is former 24 star Reiko Aylesworth, who'll join the cast as a new lab technician--an arrangement in place before the firings/rehirings. Aylesworth could become a recurring character.
CSI, the most watched drama on televison, will premiere Sept. 23.

Anyone notice that the "CSI Academy" commercial on AXN has synopsis spelled "sypnosis." Very un-CSI :)

LOL. That's mostly the fault of Smart, who made that commercial--and they do make a lot of trashy commercials. ;D

hehehe, I'm still reeling from their "Buddy language" ads :) I'm almost considering that this "sypnosis" ad is some kind of initiation test for new members.
-
Anybody watch that TV movie "Evel Knievel" starring George Eads that world premiered on TNT a couple nights ago?
-
Didn't catch last nights episode (Aug 4). Is AXN still showing reruns?

Spoiler alert for Season 3 of CSI: Miami...
A member of the CSI: Miami cast will die in the 3rd season opener. From ET Online: The cast and the crew were sworn to secrecy as to whom they will be laying to rest, and David Caruso says, "It will obviously be a different world; there is a chemistry to how a show works and it is going to be interesting to see where we go from here. I think we will find our footing and we will be fine, but it will be different. This person was extremely significant to us. They are very unique. There is nobody like them. They are not replaceable."
The funeral plays out with all the pomp and circumstance required for an officer fallen in the line of duty, including a flag-draped coffin and a 21-gun salute. It is a very powerful ceremony and it captures the emotional loss the "CSI" crew is feeling.
"You become a family," adds Adam Rodriquez. "You spend this many hours with a group of people over the course of two years, you appreciate each other, you have a good time, you get used to each other and, beyond that, you build relationships. Unfortunately, the person who is leaving and I built a good friendship and certainly we will miss that person."
So who dies? Prior to this report, plans were being made to write out Rory Cochrane's character Tim Speedle, because he already expressed his intention to pursue his movie career, so it's a good guess as to who bites the dust.
-
Is CSI: NY going to be any good than the two CSIs? I sure hope so, the show's looks promising with Gary Sinise at the helm.
-
I look forward to CSI: NY. Hiring Gary Sinise was a great move. Saw scenes from the pilot and it looked very promising -- the look of the show is more menacing.
-
[season 3 spoiler]
yup, it's rory cochrane's character (speedle, is it? haven't watched miami in a while until yesterday) who bites the dust...
[/spoiler]

Does anyone else think that the latest CSI season (Las Vegas) is the best yet? They seem to have made a real effort to innovate. Most times they've pulled it off. The episode with the child prodigy was a home run.
Season ender this Wednesday...(no spoliers please thanks)

^^yup, this current season is the best yet--the ending of last week's episode really surprised me, I wasn't expecting that, will definitely look forward to its resolution in the season finale next week.

and to think that i was just watching the negotiator the night before which featured paul guilfoyle as samuel jackson's partner nate. and here we have his character jim brass acting as a negotiator on this particular episode?
didnt know that were three actors who were in the negotiator that are currently in CSI right now. well, two in csi las vegas and one in csi miami.

What is it with all three CSIs now? They've put all the head honchos in relationships :P
