Title: Replacement Speaker - Mordaunt
Post by: bogart.2006 on Jul 25, 2019 at 08:36 AM
Any leads on where i can get a good quality 4" speaker?

I have a Mordaunt MS10, looks like this:

The box was dropped when we were moving out from our condo.  Nasira yung one of the speakers and nabasag yung magnet. I tried replacing it with those cheap speakers, pero mahina yung tunog niya.

Ang ganda kasi ng tunog ng speakers na ito. I use it with SMSL and the bass and clarity are impressive for old and small speakers.

Isip ko, Targa.  Saw this on Daichi website:

ok kaya yan?

I dont know if the sound would replcate the original but based on my experience it never does,

Tried also reviving my M&K Sub dual 12", replacing it w/ TARGAs & mahina talaga yung Bass & it sounded awful. This is just base on my experience. Maybe SPEAKER DOCTOR could fix the busted magnet, why not give him a try para mabalik yung original driver mo.

already tried bro. once busted magnet, can't repair anymore.

actually, even with the generic speaker, it still sounds great. kaya lang, if you listen really close, you notice that the sound is uneven. most of the bass and definition is coming out of the original speakers.

abang abang na lang sa ebay, baka may mag part out...

Yan nga ata ang kaibahan ng luma vs. new...madaling i-drive yung old speakers even with t-amp. Puno na yung area ng sounds na kumpleto at a fraction of electric consumption. Pero gusto pa natin sumubok ng ibat ibang system combination kaya nauuwi sa bili ng bili at never ending stories (gastos) hehehe.....

bogart, it may be worth emailing Mordaunt Short & asking their advice. They are part of the Audio Partnership which includes Cambridge Audio & now only manufacture CA's speakers. I have a pair of MS Performance 6's & will have the same problem if I have a failure.
Many moons ago when I started down the audio road I had a drive unit fail in a KEF Q5 speaker so contacted KEF. The drive units had been superceded, I asked if there would be a mismatch they said no as we'll send you a second unit free of charge. Considering the cost of the speakers the drive unit was very very cheap.
It's worth a try you never know what they may offer.
