A couple of people started a discussion about this show in the Heroes thread so I got curious.
Somebody in the same thread said something like how ridiculously absurd it is, however it's addicting as heck and I'm inclined to agree.
I'm still on the fifth episode and I'm already at that point that I can't stop thinking about this show.

Premiere's March 12 at 10pm on Crime/Suspense.
-
The cancellation of this show was also recently announced.
-
thank god it got cancelled. it started with a great premise but became crap when it diverted from holocaust to coupling.
-
I think it would have done better as a TV movie or a mini-series. I'm reminded of The Day After and Testament.
I'm guessing that post-apocalyptic television shows work if there is more science fiction and fantasy involved, with one person or a group encountering various problems in different places.

Because of pressure from fans Jericho is now greenlit for another season.

On the other hand, one might not need special effects or lots of fantasy and science fiction, just solid storylines and characterization, as seen in this example:

CBS has issued a statement regarding the cancellation of Jericho:
"The March 25th episode of Jericho will be the series finale. Without question, there are passionate viewers watching this program; we simply wish there were more. We thank an engaged and spirited fan base for keeping the show alive this long, and an outstanding team of producers, cast and crew that went through creative hoops to deliver a compelling, high quality second season. We have no regrets bringing the show back for a second try. We listened to our viewers, gave the series an opportunity to grow, and the producers put a great story on the screen. We're proud of everyone's efforts."

Fans are complaining that Jericho didn't stand a chance in the ratings game since it was placed in the same time slot as American Idol. Seems like a valid argument considering Idol's ratings binge.

One of the rare times I didn't research about a show that I loved. So I was quite surprised to find out that the Survivors BBC series that I fell in love with last month was actually a remake of the 1975 Survivors! Wow.
