Previously announced as the special guest for this fall’s four-way crossover event, Batwoman is now being developed as a series for The CW by Warner Bros. Television and Berlanti Productions.
Slated for a potential 2019 premiere, Batwoman would follow the adventures of Kate Kane -- the second incarnation of the Batwoman character in DC Comics lore introduced in 2006. The TV series logline is as follows:
"Armed with a passion for social justice and a flair for speaking her mind, Kate Kane soars onto the streets of Gotham as Batwoman, an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city’s criminal resurgence. But don’t call her a hero yet. In a city desperate for a savior, Kate must overcome her own demons before embracing the call to be Gotham’s symbol of hope."
Caroline Dries (The Vampire Diaries) will write the project, executive-producing alongside Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter and Geoff Johns. Sources state that the studio is seeking an out lesbian actress 25 to 29 years old with open ethnicity, to play the lead.

‘Batwoman’ Finds Its Villain: Rachel Skarsten To Star In the CW’s DC Pilot
Rachel Skarsten has been cast as a villainous lead opposite Ruby Rose in Batwoman, the CW’s groundbreaking drama pilot from Greg Berlanti’s Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros Television.
Written by Caroline Dries and directed by David Nutter, Batwoman marks the first gay lead character of a live-action superhero series. Armed with a passion for social justice and a flair for speaking her mind, Kate Kane (Rose) soars onto the streets of Gotham as Batwoman, an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city’s criminal resurgence.
Skarsten will play Alice. If Batwoman had a Joker, it would be Alice, the leader of her Lewis Carroll–inspired Wonderland Gang. Swinging unpredictably between maniacal and charming, Alice has made it her mission to undermine Gotham’s sense of security.

The typical misogynist crowd and people who insist na walang politics daw sa comics. Annoying lang because they're wrong, as usual.

Batman Villain Hush to Appear on Batwoman Series
Straight from the Batwoman panel at San Diego Comic-Con, the executive producers for the series have announced that the Batman supervillain Hush will appear on the series.
In the first season of the show, Batman’s enemies will begin to target Kate Kane after she becomes Batwoman. They’re introducing the character of Tommy Elliot, who will become the supervillain Hush and will develop an origin story of sorts for him across the season.
Originally a 12-part Batman storyline in the pages of “Batman” #608–619, the original “Hush” story was written by Jeph Loeb (Smallville, Heroes) with art by current DC Chief Creative Officer and co-publisher Jim Lee (“X-Men,” “WildC.A.T.s”). It centered on a mysterious bandaged figure named Hush who is hellbent on sabotaging Batman, and involved nearly all the major Rogues Gallery and Batman Family.
As far as Batman himself appearing, executive producers Caroline Dries and Sarah Schechter say anything is possible but that DC is very strict about sharing that character. They’re currently more focused on the audience getting to know Kate and her story without her cousin Bruce Wayne around. But he is a big part of the conversation in each episode as she writes journals directly to him.

'Batwoman' Shocker: Ruby Rose Exits CW Drama Ahead of Season 2
In a major surprise, Ruby Rose has departed the lead role on The CW's Batwoman after a single season. Producer Warner Bros. TV says the role will be recast.
The announcement Tuesday — two days after the show's season finale — leaves the series without a lead actress for the time being. A timeline for a new actress to take over the historic role has yet to be determined. Batwoman was renewed for a second season in January.

Why ‘Batwoman’ Star Ruby Rose Left the CW Series
Ruby Rose’s surprise exit from the CW series “Batwoman” stemmed from an ill fit between star and production.
According to multiple sources, Rose was unhappy with the long hours required of her as the series lead, which led to friction on the set. It was thus decided by her and the network and studio, Warner Bros. Television, that they would part ways.
Reps for Rose, Warner Bros., and The CW declined to comment.

'Batwoman' to Feature New Lead Character After Ruby Rose's Departure
Whoever ends up under the cowl in season two of Batwoman, they won't be playing Kate Kane.
Following the surprise departure of Ruby Rose from the title role at the end of The CW superhero drama's first season, the show has opted to create a new character to play Batwoman rather than recast Rose's role of Kate Kane, a cousin of Bruce Wayne, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
Word of the change came via a since-deleted casting notice posted to a Batwoman Reddit forum. Per Decider, which first reported the news, the new character is named "Ryan Wilder" (whether that's a placeholder name is unclear) and is described as a woman in her mid-20s who "is about to become Batwoman."
"She’s likable, messy, a little goofy and untamed. She’s also nothing like Kate Kane, the woman who wore the batsuit before her," the notice reads, according to Decider. "With no one in her life to keep her on track, Ryan spent years as a drug-runner, dodging the GCPD and masking her pain with bad habits. A girl who would steal milk for an alley cat could also kill you with her bare hands, Ryan is the most dangerous type of fighter: highly skilled and wildly undisciplined. An out lesbian. Athletic. Raw. Passionate. Fallible. And very much not your stereotypical All-American hero."
