Kabibili ko lang nito last sat, "for me" saktong sakto lang yung 100Hz compared sa 55" LED namin na 120Hz. Para kasi sakin di na mukhang movie yung 120Hz para syang kuha sa HD handy cam hehehe.

Saw this one sa Automatic Centre:
It was playing the stock Samsung demo reel.
Tried to observe it in that reel and cross compared it against the LG 42LE7500 which was playing a cartoon movie.
The LG Infinia still looked way better in terms of color, brightness and fluidity.
Though that's just 1 mode and I'm not a real pro at comparing TV's, I just did not get any "wow impressive" feel looking at this Samsung model. Though I would agree that at 42K php, it's bang for the buck!
Better wait for Carlos777 review. :-)

Review after two weeks of having the unit. Here goes my first try on reviewing a set.
40" LED edge lit 1080p FullHD LCD tv.

Performance of the tv :
Cable : - I found the cable auto-tuning quite a challenge. Took me an hour or two of manual programming for all the proper channels to be in their place. The quality on the tv is nothing spectacular but mind you, I don't have the Skycable digibox so the reception is not that good but decent. Some channels have really good reception and some just so-so. Audio quality from the tv speakers are ok, with enough volume to fill the bedroom.

PS3: - No input lag. Played COD: Black Ops to test for any iput lag or blurring when playing FPS games. Performance is superb and colors are vibrant. After playing for more than three hours, there's no eyestrain provided the blacklight level is adjusted from the Torch setting of 20 to a manageable level of 10-12.

Blu-ray: - I used my ps3 as a blu-ray player and connected it by an hdmi cable. Played flight of the phoenix, dr. no, for your eyes only and top gun. No complaints really. Very satisfied with the picture quality and the audio quality is okay if the tv speakers are used with decent volume though i prefer to use the HT speakers I have to have the oomph and clarity that i'm used to.
HTPC: - No problem setting it up. Just connect the HDMI to the laptop or pc. Just adjust the overscan or underscan for the perfect fit. Text and graphics are sharp and clear. Color is superb and vibrant.

USB: - pretty much plays most common files. If file won't play, then use the allshare feature or use the hdmi to connect your laptop or pc.

Other Features: - AllShare. You need to download the program from the official Samsung website. Either you connect the tv to the pc either by wired lan cable to your router or buy the wireless lan usb adapter. You can actually use the PS3 media server instead of the AllShare program. I use the PS3 media server to decode the movies and stream it to the tv (even if the ps3 is not on, the tv will detect the ps3 media server).

Pros:-
- 100Hz refresh rate. No input lag observed in FPS.
- Ultra Clear Panel. Very wide viewing angle
- Full HD 1080p
- LED edge lit
- Lots of connectivity options. 4 HDMI, 2 usbs, headphone jack, etc.
- Aesthetics. very good / sleek looking unit.
Cons:-
- Channel programming can be quite a task.
- Reflective panel (only if your room is overly bright or near a window).
- CE Dimming. The auto dimming can disrupt movie viewing at times especially if the scene comes from bright then to black then to bright. But you get used to it and i don't mind the auto dimming feature
already. As far as I know the feature can't be turned off from the menu that is accessible to us.
Notes: - Don't have a DVD player so i can't really say performance of the tv unless streaming a DVD file / quality movie to the tv counts. In which i tried it and the quality is okay but as they say once you go HD you never go back.
Also, took photos with my 4 year old sony point and shoot camera. quality of the picture is not that great please bear with me. :D
LCD panels will ALWAYS have backlight bleeding. It is a QUESTION whether the bleeding is noticeable / disturbing enough that your viewing pleasure is interrupted. Blacks will never be that black unless large OLED screens become widely available and affordable. What you want is uniformity - no clouding or flashlighting on your panel that distracts you from watching something. Properly calibrate your screens to get the optimal picture quality of your set.

my samsung 40D5000 pag naka picture mode: using (natural) ng flicker yung screen sandali when dark scene or switch screen. like playing xbox pag play ko ng cd loading mg black sandali yung screen then mg flicker na sya 5sec . also when using laptop HDMI. or watching movie pag mi dark scene. i tested our LCD samsung no flicker issues and our plasma Panasonic no flickering issue. tested different hdmi cable same thing.
1st bout mi dead pixel pinapait ko i never notice yung flickering issues sa 1st unit ko. so pinalitan ni sight and sounds agad yung dead pixel 2nd unit when im back home testing no dead pixel but i notice some flickering issues when using natural mode. my 1st unit parang walang ganun prob. then bumalik ako sa store pinalit nila 3rd unit same problem mi flicker issue parin. sabi ng sales man normal lang daw yun?
normal ba talaga yung sa LED tv? my LED laptop ndi naman ganun... and our plasma and LCD wala din ganun... pls help.

We don't allow return of TV unless the TV was found defective after 30 days purchased or is found defective beyond repair.
We do, however, offer trade-in. Your 40C530 has a trade-in value of P24500. Since a new 40D5000 is 42K, you need to add P17500. to trade-in your 40C530 to a 40D5000. :D

You really have to be patient in manually tunning the channel program. Mahirap talaga.

Got this monitor yesterday from SnS so far so good. Problem ko ngayon is hindi ko mapalusot yung Dolby and DTS signals thru HDMI ng pc.
Setup ko ay:
PC >-HDMI-> Monitor > AVR
Kapag gamit ko yung player ng monitor mismo, wala naman problema. Meron ba sa inyo na kaparehas ko ang setup? Natry ko rin kasi sa LG monitor at wala namang problema.

old model na kasi yung AVR ko chief so ang last resort talaga ay i direkta ko nalang yung optical from pc to avr. Mukang matagal ng issue yung hindi pwede magpassthru ng DD or DTS sa PC >HDMI> samsung >optical> avr. Sa lg walang problema yung passthru kaso dolby lang since yun lang licensed sila.

manga sir pag bumili ako ng home theater in the box lang nagandahan kasi ako sa lg ht805pm. using this LED tv 40d5000 pag ng play ako ng hdmi ng xbox 360 console using digital optical cable lalabas ba yung 5.1 sounds nya using digital optical cable? sabi kasi brother ko ndi pwede kasi labas lng ng tv ng 40d5000 is 2.1 lang. sabi naman ng mga sales sa mga abenson sm appliance center lalalbas daw using digital optical?

yung DTS 2.0 is a version and not reffering to 2 channel sound.
Ang problema sa mga samsung tv at iba pa base sa mga forums ay hindi allowed ang passthru ng DD or DTS signal meaning "PC or DVD - HDMI Cable - TV - Optical Cable - AVR"
Ang way lang is
PC or DVD - HDMI Cable - AVR with HDMI In - HDMI Cable from HDMI out of the AVR - HDMI In TV

i see kala ko 2.0 channel yun hehe wala ako alam gano sa sounds kasi. =) so kailangan talaga ng avr receiver hindi uubra sa manga home theater in a box? sayang naman.. =)

kung may hdmi in and out yang lg hometheater set mo walang problema yan bro. May mga nabasa rin ako sa forums na napagana rin nila yung passthru ng 5.1 audio sa xbox.

yes clear motion rate can be turned off on this tv... it's under picture -> advanced options.. hope this clarifies... ;D

share ko lang, nakita ko to kagabi sa SNS, katabi sha nung isang bigger size samsung na HD only plasma tv.
- black colors is black talaga ni UA40D5000 vs sa plasma.
- hindi ko alam ang term - motion blur yata - mas swabe sha tingnan kesa sa plasma nung nagmomove yung camera from left to right for example.
- it looks brighter din and the colors to my eyes look better.
Mejo nagtataka nga ako eh - db dapat tiklop si trumotion pag plasma when it comes to motion blur, pero bat kaya ganun?

Got this unit from SnS. Query lang po. The unit and the Onkyo HT-S5305 can "talk" (hehehe) thru TV's Anynet+. But the problem is when I shut down the TV so goes the Onkyo (when I just want to listen to music). I have an NMT (AC Ryan). Any suggestion on how to go about the connections? And i want to utilize the HDMI out of Onkyo to the TV so i can make full use of Onkyo's features. Please help a newbie. Thank you.

Pinoydvd was highly recommended at another forum for those in the market for lcd tvs who want to do a bit more digging before buying, like me. After some reading I decided to buy the UA40D5000 at Sights and Sounds. Pumunta ako kahapon sa store ni Sir Vic para bilhin na pero ubos na ang stock ng ganung model. The last unit there was reserved for another buyer.
Long story short, I ended up buying at SM, but just the 37inch model. Ubos na rin 40inch. Ganun yata ka in-demand etong model. I bought this model primarily for movie viewing only, for now. My family likes watching movies on my 14-inch laptop screen in our bedroom so this 37inch Led-backed LCD is quite an upgrade, hehe.
Wala pa naman akong reklamo. Easy to setup, controls are quite intuitive. Picture's very good. Builtin sound is ok but I then I connected my Creative T20 series 2 pc speakers to the TV's headphone jack. Much better..=)
Maraming salamat sa information dito sa forums, lalo na mga review ni Sir Carlo and for the helpful crew at Sights and Sounds. Mas mababa sana prices doon kaya lang medyo urgent na yung requirement namin sa TV kaya sa SM na kami bumili.

Na experience nyo na nag rereset yung time kada bubunutin yung saksak ng TV? every night kase tinatanggal ko.. na observe ko hindi na ssave yung time pag tinanggal..
Ganun ba talaga? I already emailed Samsung... kinda disappointing ng konti na a 50 thou TV can't remember time.

Ganun talaga pag Samsung TV. Settings are saved, but not the time/clock/sleep timer. Most probably naka-save sa flash memory and not EPROM chips yung time, kaya it can't save time settings.
I also turn off the switch everytime I leave the house (I bought a plug switch, para hindi ko na hinhugot pa sa outlet mismo, since I merely flick it on or off). So I always reset the clock, since I use the TV as an alarm, hehehe.

Question lang regarding UA37D5000. Plano ko kasi pag-ipunan to.
Medyo confused lang ako dun sa specs it states 100 yung CMR. Does that mean na 100Hz lang referesh rate nito? I'm currently using an LG 32LH70 with 120Hz refresh rate at isa talaga to sa feature na ayaw ko mawala pag upgrade ko. Hopefully someone could clarify if 120Hz > 100 CMR or if it is the other way around.

LCD panels will ALWAYS have backlight bleeding. It is a QUESTION whether the bleeding is noticeable / disturbing enough that your viewing pleasure is interrupted. Blacks will never be that black unless large OLED screens become widely available and affordable. What you want is uniformity - no clouding or flashlighting on your panel that distracts you from watching something. Properly calibrate your screens to get the optimal picture quality of your set.

This sucks. got this same model last monday. 1st unit i got grabe yung bleeds at coulding talaga.
prominent yung sa all four corners na sobrang liwanag nung ilaw then all over the screen clouds na. brought it back to SM appliance after a few hours (buti na lang at sa malapit ko na lang binili kundi luging lugi ako kung ibabalik ko sa malayong shop). had a challenge explaining dun sa promodiser ng samsung kung ano yung issue since wala silang "mata" para sa ganun pati dun sa manager nila dun but i did end up getting a new unit naman and i aws confident thatt this should be ok na. tested it there for a few minutes.maski maliwanag pansin ko na nawala na yung sa edges unlike nung tinest ulit yung unang unit dun na kita mo na yung liwanag sa edges maski maliwanag.(dumi lang daw sabi nung promo.sabay punas.sabi ko punasan mo maghapon yan di mawawala :P )
pag uwi.wala naman initially but then after a few hours meron na din! this time it seems intermittent but it messes up the blacks talaga sa pictures. bad trip. will deal with samsung na directly this time. idk if theres some sort of a break in period for these but i never heard of such for leds and lcds'

that is why i do not like LED lits for now. They suffer more from bleeds due to the way the edge lights are designed.
LCD may have the same issues but comparing edge-lit of LED LCD and Backlit CCFL LCD TVs, i prefer the latter as it has a more balanced light distribution by design.

meron talaga.did not bother to take pics or vids na.di ko talaga ma-capture e.time to sked a tech to check and pick it up.ayoko na ng same model ang ipapalit.2 new units and they have the same issue. wag na lang.palit na lang ng new LCD of same value. :-\ tsk tsk tsk.

so, samsung tech got dispatched. he saw the issue. he will make the technical report,says there have been no reported cases as such and yung mga na-install naman daw nila walang ganung issue though sabi nya,well lit din kasi yung areas and i guess the other people who has similar units e hindi na napapansin yung ganun.
so from the tech report,once its filed,i can make my demands/request na daw whether to get a replacement unit or a different model or bring it back to the dealer and get a refund.
ill opt for a refund na lang.then once cleared ill get an LCD na lang (LA40D550) instead which was my first choice anyways. or if they offer me a 46inch LCD as a replacement then why not.hay buhay.
well,at least i get to enjoy the LED TV til the claims get settled. :P

guys good day question lang po sa mga users nitong model na ito. Can it really display the pc or laptop's desktop in full screen and w/o any problems via HDMI?
I brought my laptop to the shop and asked the sales guy if we can connect the UA32D500 with it.
Once connected (using 1920x1080p recommended resolution from laptop. Nga pala yung graphics card of my laptop is ATI).
I noticed na may black borders siya sa side. Hindi madisplay nang buo nung UA32D500 yung desktop screen, pero sa laptop ok naman.
We then tried to change the TVs settings I think it was the zoom function, we tried 4:3, 16:9 and 2 other options I just can't remember. ganun pa din may black borders/gap pa din between the desktop and the edge of the screen. Yun tuloy hindi ko nabili yung unit. :(
Kaya ba talaga i-display nang full screen to be used as a PC monitor? Or am I just missing a setting or configuration on the UA32D5000 or my laptop?

Got this unit from SnS. Query lang po. The unit and the Onkyo HT-S5305 can "talk" (hehehe) thru TV's Anynet+. But the problem is when I shut down the TV so goes the Onkyo (when I just want to listen to music). I have an NMT (AC Ryan). Any suggestion on how to go about the connections? And i want to utilize the HDMI out of Onkyo to the TV so i can make full use of Onkyo's features. Please help a newbie. Thank you.
Try this: System > Anynet+ (HDMI-CEC) > Auto Turn Off: No ;D

oh im not gonna settle for a little help from doing calibration and it will still be there. i paid for the Full HD experience and im not gonna be happy til i get what i paid for! :P ;)
now on my case:
so i wasnt able to follow up with them last monday.i was expecting them to call me actually. so tuesday around 10am i did,called them and the rep checked with the processing team. they say the report has been received and it will now be just for approval. rep said i can follow up today wednesday and check the status.
a few hours passed and i got a call from another Samsung rep asking what i want. a replacement or a refund. refund i said as it would be easier. they can just coordinate with SM Appliance and get the CC transaction cancelled so i wont be billed anymore. rep asking me for my bank details saying that the cheque will arrive in a week or two and once they receive it they will deposit it to my account.
told the rep that i didnt shell out any cash yet and that i got it installment 12 months 0%. she says again that the cheque will be issued and then the amount deposited to my account. so i gave my details and will wait 1-2 weeks and see what happens. yun ang gusto nila e.
not sure now if they will:
1. refund me the SRP (around 54K ata) or the price i got it for which is 49,990
2. if the CC transaction will not be cancelled anymore. tuloy tuloy na lang since i got the whole amount naman na.
3. if they will send someone to pick up the unit or i will bring it back to SM. they didnt mention anything about it. as if wala na sila pakialam sa unit.
4. what happens if i return it to SM and they cancel the CC transaction? am i getting almost 50K for free? ::)
so now,i still got the TV. using it for free i guess. til they tell me to bring it back or they pick it up. pa pick up ko na lang kasi hassle din para sa akin na ako pa magdadala ulit sa SM.
naisip ko lang,para pala akong nag loan lang @ 0% interest sa nangyari. i'll settle for an LCD na lang when i get the "refund" i guess. :P

make sure na naka-kabit na HDMI and naka on na TV mo bago mo buksan PC mo.
regarding sa sound...sa PC, press start then type mo lang "sound" . choose "sound" from menu tapos "enable" mo ung "HDMI". In case nde lumlabas ung HDMI option, just right click then select "show disabled devices"

man,i totally forgot about the free bluray player! was surprised when the delivery man arrived last night. gave me my free bluray player.i didnt know what to do so i received it but didnt open it. not sure what to do with it now that the TV i got will be taken back soon when i get my refund.

Thank you sir vic for the 37D5000! The crazy traffic last Saturday was all worth it! Able to fire up some HD materials, and my wife and I could say that it's a wise investment!

called them first thing thursday. spoke with the rep,asked what happened to the tech that was supposed to be dispatched out wednesday, she checked with the person in charge and got back to me saying that the tech will no longer be dispatched na and that the refund was re-submitted.
told her that its already taking a long time to get what needs to be done.almost a month na. tinanong ko how long i will wait again. she says 1-2 days daw ang processing nung request. sabi ko make sure na may tumawag naman sa akin to let me know kasi kung di ako tumatawag,di ko malalaman kung ano na ang status.
around lunch time,i got a call from the person in charge, she told me the same thing.refund request re-submitted yadda yadda yadda...... then i told her na ganun din sinabi nila sa akin several weeks back at nag antay ako at wala din nangyari....asked her what they needed from me pa para pag na-approve na e smooth na ang process. she asked me to email or fax a scanned copy of a valid id and my bank details (bank details i already gave her weeks ago). told her i was driving and that i cant take note of her email addy, asked her to send me one and that my email addy should be in the record already. she says its not >:( so i had to dictate pa etc....
today,friday. no email. bwisit na yan! >:(

I use this tv to watch all the blu-rays i buy from you! hehe! :D This set has to be properly calibrated by turning down the backlight setting to 11 or 12 and adjusting contrast, etc. along with it. Out of the box it is on torch settings, with backlight turned to 20 and brightness to 100!!!
If you approach most LED's and LCD"s with their limitation with blacks never truly being black then youre fine. If you can't go Pioneer KURO. ;D
But if youre just considering a new tv set maybe you can wait for another 6 months and as the new line of tv models will be released around march - may and they may have new features. I recently read that samsung was able to make a tv set work with only 1 side having LED's and still maintain the brightness. that would partially solve backlight bleeding with only 1 side having a row of LED's.

@quitacet - as for the technology, the film used in the back lighting design helps focus and diffuse light, and used together with Local Dimming Technology and energy efficient LED bulbs. so we'll see how this new technique helps. my next tv upgrade hopefully would be in 3-5 years from now. Hopefully large scale production of OLED's are done. :D

prone talaga mga LED's even with other brands. not sure pero yang Sony model na yan ata yung may issue din but not sa backlight.much worse ata. may thread recently about it.
im happy with my LCD.yun na lang masasabi ko. :)

I just recently bought UA37D5000 to replace my series 3 LCD, bought it for less than 30k in an appliance store in Makati. So far so good naman, and ang layo diff between an LCD and LED tv. The 37" consumes only 100 watts. Im so spending the long weekend watching HD movies hehehe....

good thing, our tv plays MKVs. i plan to connect my external hdd via the usb port, and output the sound from the optical port of the led tv to my receiver. the question is, will I still be able to output true dts/dolby via optical port if the source (hdd) is connected to the usb port of the led tv? baka kasi pro logic lang yung output in case. i haven't connected it yet, kasi medyo maikli yung current optical cable ko. so i wanted to make sure na gagana before i purchase a longer optical cable.

Pre when you say you switch to game mode on this tv you just basically switch to HDMI right? it doesnt really have a game mode? and bat ganun akala ko 100 hz motion rate nito bat sa manual optimum display nakalagay 1080P@60 HZ lang? can somebody explain i would definitely appreciate it. Thanks!

i don't know kung natanong na before, have not backread the entire thread, tatanong ko lang kung may naka encounter na sa inyo ng problema pag naka network yung tv.
while playing movies sa usb/external hard drive, nababasa nya yung mga movies ko pero pag sa network galing, may error na "unsupported file format" daw. 720p na mkv lang yung sinususubukan kong i-iplay. thanks sa makakakasagot

They basically are the same, tiningnan ko yung specs e isa pang difference bukod sa Smart tv yung 5500 e yung "Eco Label". Ginoogle ko nga, eto sabi sa Samsung website:

planning on buying UA40D5000, how much is this on sight and sound? and are there any freebies or just add-in product?. and is there a subtitle settings like changing font, outline and shadow or none at all? what format of subtitles it recognizes? this tv is gonna be used mostly for watching cable tv shows, dvd and downloaded movies/anime [mostly with subtitles].
and i'm also torn on buying samsung UA40D5000 or sony KLV-42EX410, for sony has a bundled Home Theater, though samsung has more hdmi, usb and can play more files..i think..at mas magandang tignan.. this is oure first time buying LED tv.... need your help..

normal in the sense na common ang backlight bleeding sa LED backlit LCD TV's. not normal kasi it will affect your viewing. how old na?take it back and get a replacement but chances are baka meron din yung magiging kapalit just like what happened to me. or,if you can live with it.....
bakit parang di naging deterrent yung experience ko at may mga nagko-consider pa rin nung same model na nakuha ko noon?dami ko nakikitang gusto pa rin kumuha ng 40D5000 ::) ;D :-X oh well,ganun talaga siguro. 8)

just bought this at sights and sounds with the HT-D453 home theater, so far so good mostly everything are alright, except for the very little subtitle settings. but with the HT-D453 dvd.... it cannot play most of my dvd-rw i bought from cdr king. i usually convert videos to dvd using convertxtodvd so i can watch it on dvd. does all samsung dvd players like this? so have anyone tried playing dvd rw on this dvd? did they play? and if it did, what is the brand name and where did you buy the dvd-rw?

Just bought UA37d5000 last November and i think i got a good one because i had no problem with my unit as well as the backlight bleeding issue except for the free dvd player that arrived after a month...i think the backlight bleeding is just an isolated case...hope this will help you decide.. ;)

Patulong naman po. I have a Samsung UA37D5000. I tried connecting my Wii (using the standard composite cable) to the TV using the adaptor that came with it. Kaso walang lumalabas sa screen. Just an alert message asking me to check the cable, power, source selection, etc. I thought baka dahil composite cable lang ang gamit ng Wii, so I bought a component cable. Again, I connected the two devices using the adaptor that came with the TV. Pero wala pa rin. Same message lang ang lumalabad. I tried to connect the Wii to another TV (Sharp Aquos na 3 yrs old na). Ok naman. Ang pagkakaiba lang, the Sharp LCD has both composite and component inputs, unlike this Samsung which needs a proprietary adapter. I already tried googling for possible solutions, pero wala talaga akong mahanap.
Any suggestion?

i suggest you backread and use some common sense(no offense).
anong store naman kaya ang di pwede mag test ng lcd/led/plasma and bakit ka bibili dun kung ayaw nila magtesting. your other questions are really irrelevant otherwise wala nang bibili ng samsung.

i think all brands have their own way of implementing their tuning, just make sure you read the manual and everything will be ok.

best way to find out is for you to audition, ikaw ang manonood hindi yung salesman, if the pq is ok with you then nothing should stop you from buying the set you want.

although this is the timetable being presented by the government for us to shift to digital tv. we are not even sure if this will be possible, even for the u.s. they have gone through several time extensions before it was fully implemented, and even when its already implemented, the old standard definition is still being broadcasted.
another issue for us is we have not really decided on what kind of digital broadcast are we going to implement. the government is leaning towards dvb but the networks (gma and abs is lobbying the government for other standards as well), remember by deciding on a standard, a whole range of equipment/s have to be changed (camera, broadcast equipment etc), so its a big deal from the perspective of the networks on which standard should be implemented.
in the u.s., they are using the atsc standard, the evolution of the old ntsc standard (which we are currently using). so dont worry much about it, and as the other member stated, there will be a box to tide us through, so that our sets now can still enjoy digital broadcast once its here and available.
btw, the salesman is only partially right, not sure what kind of tuner the devant is using, but i will assume its atsc, so if in the event the government chooses the dvb standard, wala din kwenta yung devant, and it will have to use a box to get the signal as well.
i really hate these salesmen na does not provide all info.
buy the set you want and enjoy it. it would be a shame for you to wait until 2015 before you decide to buy a flat panel. sayang ang big screen great pq viewing ;) ;) ;) ;)

jlaw, FYI nagbackread po ako mula page 1 kaya ko nga nalaman yun case ni sir oznola sa nabili nyang D5000 at sa bahay na nya nakita ang defect. kung irrelevant para sa u ang mga tanong ko, sinabi ko naman na newbie ako at first time ko bibili ng led tv di ba. hindi mo ba naintindihan yun? sana di ka na lang sumagot tutal feeling expert ka pala and besides di naman nakatulong ang sagot mo.
@iiinas, thank you so much sir for enlightening me and answering my questions in detail! :) i'm going to SnS later. try ko na rin itanong kung pwedeng sila na mag tune para makita ko na rin kung ano yun sinasabi nun salesman na kausap ko regarding item 2. sabi naman nun isang natanong ko, kaya daw nagiging ganun e dahil ang local channel 400x300 while yun led tv e 1080. kung 32" daw di masyado halata pero pag 40" baka yun nga, dun lumabas yun pagka obvious nya. need lang daw ng digibox. hmmm..
for item 3, yun tinuturo nung salesman na devant sa kin, may tag na "first digital tv in the ph" daw. tapos ang ka level daw nun e yun series 6 ng samsung in terms of specs pero bukod tangi yun lang daw devant ang digital tv so di na daw need ng digibox nun if ever. yun mga sony, samsung, etc wala pa daw digital tv series na nilalabas.
ayoko naman ng devant or other brands so i'm sticking to samsung and this particular model. :D

anyway, para dun sa mga ibang newbie na same ng tanong ko regarding home theater, sabi nun salesman na natanong ko, mahina daw ang magiging sound pag tv lang so ok lang sya kung manonood ka lang ng local chanels ganun. pero kung ang balak e mag videoke (or watch heavily ng mga movies, play games), mas ok daw na may home theater para mas malakas yun sound. ;D

newbie320, nabasa mo yung sa post ko. mahirap makita yung bleeding pag medyo well lit ang area kung saan mo i-test. kaya nga ako,yung unang unit,pag uwi ko na lang nakita.same with the 2nd unit kasi sa store,parang wala talaga pero nung naiuwi ko na,ayun meron pa rin. and with the 2nd unit i was kinda confident na wala na sigurong issue kaso meron pa din.
pag isipan mo na lang maigi kung gusto mo pa din ng same model or kung gusto mo pa din mag LED. backlight lang pagkakaiba nyan sa LCD. ako masaya na sa LCD kasi tama lang ang lighting sa dimmed room unlike LED na nung una medyo masakit sa mata pero pwede naman i-adjust ang settings to your liking.
basta,pag isipan mo maigi kasi prone talaga ang LED TV's sa bleeding. iilan lang ang mga members dito na may ganitong model.iilan lang din ang may alam ng backlight bleeding sa ilang libong bumili ng ganitong TV. yung iba,oblivious sa issue.which is good for them i guess. and yung iba nasa well lit rooms so di talaga mapapansin na.
sa SnS,pwede nila patayin yung ilaw while you check it.pero mahirap pa din kasi yung ilaw from the other TV's on display e nakaka distract din. set mo na lang siguro yung viewing mode. i forget setting na yun. basta yung picture size select mo yung smartview ata. yung nasa center lang ang picture na maliit then black na lahat sa paligid.from there makikita mo yung corners.
tsaka yung pag nag switch over yung menu screen nang channels list back to TV.may parang 2 seconds na mag black screen sya.dun makikita mo din kung meron. pero you have to click it mabilis para mag black screen ulit agad.
yung pag set ng channels madali lang naman.autochannel lang ginawa ko then move na lang yung mga channels.basta,madali lang yan.
yung pagiging punggok naman na sinasabi,normal TV is viewed kasi 4:3. may ganyan namang picture size setting yung TV pero makakasanayan naman manood sa 16:9. di naman ganun kapangit or sobrang stretched.
wag ka muna mag isip tungkol sa mga new technology.matagal pa yan bago dumating sa atin.ang laki ng ipupuhunan ng mga local providers to switch over. hindi nila agad agad magagawa yun at hindi feasible sa ngayon o anytime soon ang ganung technology sa atin.

newbie is not an excuse not to use your head. simple lang naman yung sinabi ko, yun kasi ang main concern mo based on your line of questioning and hindi barometer ang isang negative feedback ni oznola to judge samsung. give or take na may isa dalawa or even one hundred, e hundred of thousands na ang naibenta kaya ng samsung. it all boils down to testing your unit and if ever nagkaproblem as oznola will attest may pumupunta from samsung to either replace it or have it repaired. i understand your OA concerns and hindi ko maintindihan sayo e sa dami ng concern mo e nagtanong ka at inaassume mo na di pwede mag test ng lcd/led/plasma in any of those stores pag bibili ka. ikaw ang customer, it is your right bibili ka man o hindi!@. kahit grade 1 e di na kailangang imemorize yan! with that in mind, i don't think you deserve any of my attention. ;D

natesting ko na rin sya. medyo nadadagdagan na ang kaalaman ko. :D ni auto tuning ko muna. excited makasagap ng channel e. nagkagulo gulo nga ang channel. sabi nun nag assist sa kin kanina, mas ok pa daw na i-manual tuning na lang kasi kelangan match yun numbers. bukas ko na lang aayusin yun ni-auto tune ko. usisain ko muna maigi ang manual.
medyo malabo nga lang ang mga channels. di pa kasi maayos yun pagkakakabit ng cable antenna e. kaya parang maulan tuloy lahat ng channel. bukas na lang ayusin. sana luminaw sya.
dead pixels - wala naman so far
backlight bleeding - nag try ako manood ng movies from my portable HD, kaso puro .avi lang ang meron ako. medyo may blurring (dunno kung yan ang tamang term) sa mga letters/characters pero siguro dahil yun sa pagkakarecord/format/save mismo ng movies. try ko .mkv at magplay ng DVD mismo bukas if may pagbabago sa picture quality. nitry ko rin off ang mga ilaw kanina. may movie kasi ako na may black area yun taas at babang part (sorry ulit, di ko alam ano tawag dun. basta yun hindi nya sakop ang buong screen, hehe) tapos may suspetsa akong konting backlight bleeding sa upper left and right pero di naman sobra. sa ibang madilim na movie naman e wala sya at saka pag naglilipat ako ng channel (as per your suggestion), wala din naman sya so baka sa pagkakaformat ng movie lang ulit sya kaya ganun. pero try ko pa rin ulit bukas.
ang napansin ko lang na major issue so far e nun kinabit ko yun magic sing. medyo delay ng mga 1-2 seconds yun labas ng boses dun sa Home theater na speakers. yun music ok naman. bukod tangi yun boses ang nahuhuli e di naman late yun timing nung kumakanta. sa Sound settings nya, may nakita akong option na idelay yun sound pero naka 0 naman sya. ??? try ko na lang itroubleshoot bukas.

Question po sa mga owners ng samsung UA40D5000, nagtry po kasi ako manood ng blu ray movie (star trek) using ps3. napansin ko kasi parang hindi sya yung kagaya ng ibang tv na nakita ko na nakaangat yung ibang tao na parang 3d yung dating tapos sobrang linaw.
Para naging hi-def dvd lang kasi yung dating nung BD movie nung pinanood ko eh. meron po ba setting or feature itong tv na ito para ma-achieve ko yun?

Astig ng PQ. Di ko napapansin yun backlight bleeding kahit naka turn off yung ilaw ko sa gabi...
nagiging issues ko pa lang is yung built in media player.... di ko mapagana yung mga HD Anime ko.. (.mkv file) either AUDIO CODEC NOT SUPPORTED or VIDEO CODEC NOT SUPPORTED.. panu kaya gagawin ko?
Sinubukan ko yung popcorn audio converter para sa mga may AUDIO CODEC blah blah... nagkaroon sya ng sound pero walang subtitles....

- CE Dimming. The auto dimming can disrupt movie viewing at times especially if the scene comes from bright then to black then to bright. But you get used to it and i don't mind the auto dimming feature
already. As far as I know the feature can't be turned off from the menu that is accessible to us.
we just recently bought the smart tv version of this hdtv, the UA40D5500 and i share the same sentiments. medyo annoying nga itong auto dimming feature. i've tried to play around with different picture settings hoping that it will somehow lessen the impact of the auto dimming feature but to no avail. i've read some posts in other forums that you can turn this feature off by accessing the service menu. ayoko na lang mag risk kasi baka mayari pa. dati kasi na try ko na i-access yung service menu sa lumang samsung lcd namin and na reset lahat ng settings nya eh.

4:3 ang AR ng mga TV shows sa tin. ung HDTV naman e 16:9 ang AR. ini-strech nya ung picture sa left and right para magkasya sa screen kya ang tao sa palabas ay tumataba, nagmumukang punggok.
me option naman sa TV na gawing 4:3 ung AR kya lang merong black bars sa left and right side. pero sa manual naka-indicate dun na recommended gamitin ung 16:9 or full screen kesa 4:3 para maiwasan ang screen burn. hindi kasi sakop ng warranty ang screen burn.

Hello po, Hindi po normal yun.. if magbabasa po kayo ng ibang forums madami na reklamo about sa backlight bleeding / flashlighting effect / clouding effect etc... this goes with the panel used on the tv... advise po dun sa mga bibili pa lang ng samsung led tv, pwede mo makita kung anung panel ang ginamit.. makikita po ito sa likod ng tv, sticker po ito with tv model # at meron din version, yung version ito yung panel na ginamit.. what i have heard SS or SQ is the best panel.. kaso po ngayun po yata halos AC and AA na ang mga natitira w/c is madaming reklamo about the said defect. :(

Hello po, Hindi po normal yun.. if magbabasa po kayo ng ibang forums madami na reklamo about sa backlight bleeding / flashlighting effect / clouding effect etc... this goes with the panel used on the tv... advise po dun sa mga bibili pa lang ng samsung led tv, pwede mo makita kung anung panel ang ginamit.. makikita po ito sa likod ng tv, sticker po ito with tv model # at meron din version, yung version ito yung panel na ginamit.. what i have heard SS or SQ is the best panel.. kaso po ngayun po yata halos AC and AA na ang mga natitira w/c is madaming reklamo about the said defect. :(

Baka auto dimming yang sinasabi mo (though di ko sure kung merong ganyang feature ang model ng tv mo), na biglang didilim at liliwanag at times when the TV is adjusting it's backlight.

no point in bringing it back where you bought it di ba?7 days lang daw sa kanila. call Samsung and get that replaced. They (Samsung) will replace it for you or in some cases,they can contact the store where you bought it and make arrangements so that you can bring it back to the store and they will give you a replacement. ganun nangyari sa akin the last time.(and i really hope it is the last time :P )

I read your experience bro, their after sales really suck. Papalampasin nila talaga ng 1month yan bago ibalik pera mo, dami pa nilang palusot. And buti lang na natapos din yung problem mo with them. Mas maganda pag may defect, ibalik na agad sa kanila, para wala ka responsibility sa unit, kasi pag nasa iyo pa ang unit ang kung magka problema pa, sayang lang, baka di na nila honor. Marketing strat nila yan.
Also, was planning to buy 40D5000, pero based on your experiences, nakakatakot na..
I once have a 32" series 5 way back 2009, but after a year and a half, nagka vertical line sa right side and di na sakop ng warranty.
Any suggestion guys for a 40" LED TV? Bibili na rin sana kami.

mukhang nabiktima na rin kami ng bleeding issue. nagkaroon ng maliit na bleeding on the top left corner of our UA40D5500, napansin ko kanina lang while i was watching a blu-ray movie. our unit is only 3 weeks old. should we have it replaced kaya? kasi naisip ko baka hassle lang kasi baka hindi maintindihan nung taga samsung yung bleeding issue saka medyo maliit lang naman sya baka di nila mapansin. kaya lang o.c. kasi ako eh even minute details napapansin ko and medyo di na ako mapakali kanina while i was watching the movie madalas ako napapatingin dun sa corner kung saan may bleeding.

sorry to hear about what happened. kung oc ka ngang talaga,you wont live knowing na may ganyan yan unless you give up and just live with it. ang hirap nyan kasi di ka na maka focus dun sa pinapanood mo masyado. yun bang everytime may dark scenes mapapatingin ka na dun sa corner na yun to see how bad it is.

yun nga sir, ang hirap talaga pag o.c. katulad kanina nanood nanaman ako ng movie pero napapatingin talaga ako dun sa corner and dun din sa ibang sides kung mayroon na din bleeding. btw thanks for the advice sir, siguro i'll just observe na lang muna sana hindi na madagdagan pa.

my tv is UA37D5000, ang set-up sa audio, TV optical out > HTIB optical In. pag nag-play ako ng USB movie thru USB port ng TV, sa sound menu, nakahighlight ung PCM at Dolby, grayed ung DTS. does it mean pedeng passthru ng DTS kung DTS audio ng movie na i-pplay?

Nakabili ako ng UA40D5500 from SnS.
After 9 months nasira yung parang isang panel light niya sa upper right. Di siya umiilaw agad agad. pag uminit yung unit(after 15-30 mins) chaka pa siya umiilaw.
Samsung after service was very fast in my case. 5 days replaced na agad. Ang kaso ay di nila maexplain kung baikit nasia kaagad yung TV.
Sabi nung nag ayos nung tinanong ko yung cause ng sira:
1. Power surge pero since naka avr and surge protector siya sabi ko mejo malabu yun. SO sinabi niya yung reason 2.
2. normal breakdown ng unit-- Ito daw yung main reason
Nagisip ako kung panu nangyari yun, 9 months and normal breakdown daw.. Then I read from forums that the TV comes with a very high backlight/brightness setting.
I left it as is noon kasi iniisip ko na safe siya since its the settings coming out of the box.
Can anyone tell me a setting that will not give my new TV too much stress in the lights?
Di ko na masyado iniisip picture quality, ang mahalaga sa akin ay yung lifespan ng TV. hehehehe
Current settings ko since napalitan ng bagong TV panel:
Picture Mode: Standard

Nangyyari din sa UA40D5500 ko yan, pero pinalitan na nila. 9 months bago nag ganyan pero iba yung location. sa tingin ko baka may backlight sa panel na di gumagana.. check the pics of mine, di ko napicturan na nagka ganyan eh pero same na same din iba lang location..
Pareho din ng sinasabi mo, minsan biglang nawawala nalang yung problema. Lalo pag uminit na yung unit or mainityung panahon..
In your case, sana mejo mas maalam yung tech-guy. sana masabi niya lang agad na ano ba talaga naging problema. then please share it with us dito sa forums.

Kakainis di ko tuloy magamit ung digibox. Napansin ko dati AV connection ung source pero ngayon component ung lumalabas. Di ko naman makita ung option kung pano gawing source ung AV or Component. Baka may alam kayo mga bro na setup para maayos ko to. Thanks.

got my 40D5000 2 weeks ago, so far so good. sana walang prob na lumabas, dumating na din yung free bluray player ko and to my surprise meron kasamang ultra slim wall mount. N I C E !

Actually madalas mangyari sa akin yan, kahit tanggalin at ibalik ko lang yung parang connector niya na color green sa tv side at multiple component wires/av wires sa digibox side... try mo lang tanggalin tapos ibalik ulit hanggat makilala niyang a/v yun at hindi component. Pag nakilala na niya na a/v yun wag mo na siguro tanggalin ehhehehe

Naka Ilang tanggal balik na ko ayaw pa rin eh. Black and White pa rin lumalabas. Pero pag try ko sa ibang tv namin ok naman ung digibox. Hindi kaya sa dun sa connector. May mura bang AV to HDMI na cable para un nalang gagamitin ko.

check mo yung resolution ng laptop.. pag sa laptop mo ba play may balck bars din sa itaas at ibaba... alam ko nga sa avatar eh full screen siya..

If ure really particular about the blacks and no backlight bleeding go for plasma. A lot of people have a lot of expectation looking for the really good video quality ---> go plasma! LCD or LED backlit or edgelit tvs will always have backlight bleeding. That is the limitation for these two technologies.
It is sad to see that a lot of owners here have issues with the led bulbs. Have those units replaced as u can see from the pics u posted those portions are dark already which means the LED bulbs are busted.
My unit is already turning 1 year old this march 5. Thankfully no issues like the ones posted here in this thread.

With that said, kaya ba nitong palitan yung digital fiber optic cable (toslink) na ginagamit from TV -> HTIB para magkasound yung external speakers kapag nanonood ng over-the-air channels (o kapag nagplay ka ng movie thru USB ng TV mo)?
Toslink ba yung best connector for these scenarios? Thanks!

ARC should be clearly described and specified in your TV manual (what does your TV manual say?); and "ARC" is clearly marked on a specific HDMI port - hindi lahat ng HDMI port are ARC-compliant because you only need one anyways.
Yeah, your 2nd paragraph describes how it should be with ARC. Bale 2 way yung single HDMI connection ng TV (going in for video and audio, going out (return) for audio only). So lalabas dapat yung TV sound sa external speakers.
BTW, someone posted in AVSForum that as of Oct 2011, samsung.com indicates that Series 5 HDTVs do not have ARC-compliant HDMI.

Thanks Clondalkin! Sadly, yung HTIB ko lang pala yung ARC-compliant. Series 7 pataas lang na Samsung TVs ang supported ang ganitong feature. So I guess bibili pa ako ng separate toslink cable.

ung tv ko e UA37D5000, naka-connect sya sa samsung htib (htd350k) via toslink. pag PCM pinili ko sa sound menu, merong sound, pero pag DTS, walang sound.
nagtry ako ng movies na dolby digital, pag pinili ko ung option na un, me sound na nalabas. ung dts option lang ang walang sound.

Yung iba kasing toslink cable na nabasa ko sa internet/forums, nakalagay particularly sa description na "for use with Dolby Digital Receiver". @yajter: Based sa posts mo, hindi kaya toslink ang may problem playing DTS audio? Observation ko lang to ha? Yung iba kasing toslink cable na nabasa ko sa internet/forums, nakalagay particularly sa description na "for use with Dolby Digital Receiver". ok tnx. check ko ung lalagayan nung toslink nung binili ko. tingnan ko kung me makukuha akong info dun.
nacheck ko na ung lalagyan ng toslink, meron nakalagay na dolby digital at dts. so, hindi toslink ang problem. well, gumawa na ko ng topic regarding this and ang answer nila ay htib ang problem. hindi kaya ng htib magdecode ng dts.

You can use it to stream movies/images/music from your PC to your TV using Samsung's Allshare program. If you have a sammy android phone (not all android phones will work like the galaxy y) you can also stream media from phone to pc if your phone is connected in your wifi router. THis also need the allshare app in your phone. You can also use your samsung android phone as a remote :)

Im interested in getting the 32D5000 and I'm wondering if backlight bleeding is a common issue on the 32" models. The Series 8 55" has no backlight bleeding what so ever, which is expected for the premium price on the TV but Im wondering if the 'lower end' models are more prone to this.

Just bought the 37d5000 for 27.5k two days ago, and pagkauwi saksak agad sa PS3 and meron syang parang blackout moments that last around a second tas balik normal. Switched to an HDMI cable today, and ok na sya, di na nag blablackout.
Should I be concerned though dun sa nangyari nun naka component cable pa kami? My supplier told me its probably just the cable, which so far seems to be correct since nun nagswitch na kami sa HDMI ok na siya, or should I look into this more?
And by the way, anyone care to share their calibration for maximum enjoyment? would really appreciate it. :) as well as pano maaactivate yun 100hz refresh rate kasi i think ang stock setting is only at 60 tama ba? Sorry I'm veeery new sa TVs as this is my first purchase ng LCD. Thanks!

Actually hindi siya flicker eh, parang biglang nagshutdown lang and then ok na again. Although sa PS3 lang nangyari yun last night. While watching television or DVDs through USB ok naman as far as I remember. So I guess it must be the cable nga.
Just need to be certain because I only have a seven day return policy so after a week di ko na marereplace.

nung may 1, pagbukas ko ng tv (UA37D5000), ung black color nya, parang grainy. ung black color, hindi na sya pure black, me halong white na kalat-kalat, parang ndi nakakabit ung antena. pero sa black color lang, ung ibang colors, ok naman. sa test picture, ung black color lang ang me problema.
meron na ba sa inyo naka experience ng ganito sa TV nyo. just bought it last october2011. itatawag ko nga ngaun sa center nila eh.

ano ba difference ng PC/DVI audio in sa headphone?
sinubukan ko yung 2.1 klipsch speaker pang PC dun.. ayaw gumana sa PC/DVI audio in kahit nilagay ko sa sound setting "external speaker"... then sinubukan ko sa headphone ok naman,,

share ko lang, 2 days ago yung UA37D000 namin nasira na. biglang namatay nung nanonood ako ng tv. nung nag try ko sya i turn on ulit, ayaw na nya mag On. Blinking red light na lang (no display, no sound). Wala pang 3 years samin yung TV. Naitawag ko na sa Samsung service center and na check na kahapon. Ok naman daw yung power supply. Nasabi ko din sa kanila, bago tuluyang masira na yung TV, may parang busted na LED sa upper left part ng screen. Minsan gumagana naman ng maayos yung part ng screen na yun pero most of the time patay yung LED sa part ng screen na yun. Ang sabi sakin ng technician na yun daw ang cause ng hindi pa On ng TV kasi totally busted na daw. Kanina lang nag text sakin yung accredited service center and ang sabi sakin buong panel na ang kailangn palitan worth 22,574 and hindi daw pwede na bulb lang daw ang palitan kasi wala nag oorder na bulb lang.
