I'm already watching the 9th episode, and words cannot give justice to how much I enjoy watching this series. They're showing teasers already on HBO, so you guys may already know about this.
I just hope that when they do show it locally, they're going to minimize on the cuts as there are two things I like about ROME above all else: the sex, and the neck stabbing.
They can probably edit out the sex part, but please, leave the neck stabbing scenes alone!
Neck stabbing people! Neck! Stabbing!
-
If HBO Asia will air this, I hope they air the unedited version. Dammit!
-
i doubt they will show the unedited version. if they already edited SATC, they definitely will edit Rome.

5 points to anyone who can name which Akira Kurosawa film it has similarities with.

Uhm Ran?
-
I think the series is produced by Michael Apted, he also wrote and directed the first few episodes. I liked it. I've been hooked onto it since the second episode.
They haven't censored any of the bloody and the sex scenes here in the US, but I dunno if they will sa Phils.
-
Uhm Ran?
Nope, sorry. I'm thinking of another of his movies.
A clue: Star Wars
-
Hidden Fortress.
I've seen some episodes. Seems to me to be a more elaborate but not necessarily superior version of I, Claudius.
-
Correct.
I guess I'm too young to have seen I, Claudius while it was still running. But does it have its share of neck stabbing?
-
I believe one thing that makes this a worthwhile see is the inclusion of mostly unknown actors (though, a majority of them are British)- - -which I also think diminishes expectations from the audience.
-
No neck stabbings in I, Claudius, not even a nipple--this is television, tho British television. They do talk about sodomy.
It's essentially an adaptation of Robert Graves' two novels, taking off from actual history, with superb acting and wonderful dialogue. Not much production value--by the third episode you can see they're recycling the sets--but I do prefer it to HBO's Rome.
-
I find the lack of nudity despicable.
-
Oh, the nudity and sex in Rome is good--don't think I appreciate it. But you can be perverse without showing an inch of flesh, it's possible.
-
All 12 parts of Rome's first series is done. Still waiting for all the 700MB files to finish. HBO makes some of the best programs on the boob tube today.

No. It's a Drama Series. Not a miniseries.
-
It was originally planned as a 12 episode mini series. But three episodes into the first season, they decided that there was going to be a second season.
-
can't wait for the 2nd season!when is it gonna be?
-
mukhang interesting ah....better sked some time for it. ;D ;D

The second season premiered in the US last Sunday. Most of the reviews were lukewarm but I found the storytelling much better than the first season.
