Title: thoughts on 'Oh Tokyo!' & tita Eleanor
Post by: ßartmaniac on Jul 30, 2002 at 12:01 PM
Here are some of what have been said so far... ;D

and ONLY sky cable have OH TOKYO! which i truly love...featuring my favorite host...
TITA ELEANOR!!!...hehehe ;D ;D ;D

yes...tita eleanor rules big time...

"oh, nandito na tayo sa isang japanese restaurant, maraming klaseng pagkain dito..ang tawag dito ay sushi, ito naman ay fried chicken, sa tagalog ang tawag dito ay pinritong manok..hmm mukhang masarap sha ah..matikman nga..hmmm..masarap nga sha at medyo malinamnam"

and i thought..im the only person who watches and actually enjoys the show...truly makes a guilty pleasure

more on tita Eleanor's typical lines (how I hear it):

(while interviewing a Japanese) shamo dumo kao shi mei, deshka?  manipako labo labo sumo, deshka?  Baki lagi nah lang mei deshka?

(Jap would answer and would smile and laugh leaving the Pinoy audience clueless)

Hehehe...... :-[ :-[ :-[

Here are more info on our favorite tita:

*Oh! Tokyo is a Japan information show aired on the WINS cable channel. Filipino reporters are sent to museums, expositions, and special events to interview Japanese people and then translate everything into Tagalog (the local dialect). Eleanor, the original host (shown above), has endeared herself to the audience because of her awkward - sounding Japanese and unintentionally funny commentary.

tita E:shimasen konichiwa...domo gosaimas ne?

and the jap answered...konichiwa....yakitori des ka...

tita E:mga kaibigan ito daw po ay ay isang yakitori...parang pong barbecue sa kin to...iniihaw din nila...mukang masarap ah...matikman nga natin...shimasen yakitori des ka? 45 yen...hmmm...45 yen sa atin po ay mga 50 pesos po ang isang yakitori...mukhang medyo me kamahalan ah...then tita eleanor shells out some money...arigato gosaimas ne...

matikman nga natin ang kanilang yakitori...mmm....mukang masarap nga...mainit init pa...mmm...pero sabi niya lagyan muna natin ng sauce...mmm....then tita eleanor takes a bite...mmm...mainit!!!....pero masarap!!!...oishi de ka!!!... ;D ;D ;D

The show itself sometimes get me dizzy. The Cameraman is not stable whil shooting the segment. Lightings is also bad.

nevertheless, A good alterantive kapag wala ng show mapanood sa Cable tv (bad thing was upon moving from Sky to Destiny wala na WINS channel)

this you've got to see...di na ko magsasalita...basta watch na lang kayo...

and the old man who is always on the show...wawa naman still being interviewed over and over again...or lagi lang replay napapanood ko...hahahaha ;D

i dunno what cable service you are subscribed to ... but we still get WINS on destiny (channel 52)... "oh tokyo" doesn't air as much anymore tho. but i still see eleanor doing some newscasts... LOL.  ;)

while i think eleanor is DA BEST!! favorite lines from the show actually don't come from her:

"...dito lang sa INter ef em!"

"wow! eets enkreydibol! ang dami nilang die-know-sores dito! para ka talagang nasa OUTER SPACE!"

and from "oh manila"...

"ah... ito na pala po 'yun kanilang porter steak house... ang laki-laki pala. kaya ko kaya maubos ito?"

Oo nga no... haven't seen Tita Eleanor in quite awhile rin. Last I saw of Oh Tokyo, some pretty looking English speaking Japanese-Pinay looking woman was hosting it. Not fun.

"wow! eets enkreydibol! ang dami nilang die-know-sores dito! para ka talagang sana OUTER SPACE!"

Hahaha! ;D Mahanap nga ulit ito sa cable mamaya!

I sometimes catch their "newscast" though. Yung may flag ng Philippines and Japan on either sides of the table  tapos nagsisikipan sila sa table to fit in the set and probably in the TV frame. Tapos may plastic fruit or miniature jeepney sa harap ng lamesa nila... ;D ;D

with the manghuhula all covered in black and sequins. speaking in a deep eerie tone.  :)

oh, how i miss the rides and the food. The food always gets to me. When Tita Eleanor starts to eat, feeling ko kasama ko sya sa table. "Omrice" and the big juicy burger at the in-door amusement park. jeez, this is making me hungry.  ;D

i will never forget when she chose to eat chicken marsala at the cafeteria veranda with the wind blowing full on! it looked like she was having lunch the middle of a hurricane! i half expected her tray to come flying off the table. LOL.

eleanor is such a trooper!  ;D
