Mabuhay!
There are so many great deals out there right now regarding full hdtvs. Also, i've seen a couple of brands selling 4ks or UHDTV or 4kuhdtv but at prices way beyond my budget.
Is this a good time to buy a fullhd tv or just wait for 4k or UHDTV to become cheaper? ;D
sometimes fullhd tvs are bundled with bluray players with 5.1 system.
-
Go with fullhd tv...kontinpalang titles ng 4k tv and medyo mahal...huwag mo na isama ung mga 5.1 na bundle,..ibawas mo nalang sa price ng tv kung pede..
-
-
siguro, wait ka pa 2-3 years bago bumili ng UHD TV. by that time, meron na sigurong affordable na 4K tv. (saka marami na ang 4K content)
-
Mabuhay!
thank you all for responding to my question.

i really love Plasma. Actually, yan ang number 1 list ko. Plasma lover talaga ako.
-
As you mentioned the UHD4K for you is beyond your budget.
So the question is can you still wait at the least 1 year without a TV?
At the most realistic is around 2 years for the price to be manageable.
If you cant wait and want to enjoy the benefits of FULL HD, then get one and just wait for the next best thing.
-
I think its better to wait it out until it gets to a point that people can get good sources for 4K / UHD video sources. You can use it for 4K gaming though, assuming you don't get a set with a latency of < 60ms.

In a similar scenario, what would you choose? 60in full hd or 49in 4k tv (given they have almost the same price)?
-
Ako, I would still get a 60 inch full hd. You need 4k content anyway for full enjoyment of the 4ktv.

Are you comparing same brand 60in Full HD and 49in 4K TV? Between these 2, I'd choose the 60in FHD.
LG right?

+1 sa bigger screen full hd
-
for now, Full HD pa rin. useless pa sa akin ang 4K since wala naman akong 4K movies.

LG right?
Yep, LG. 60in 5820 @ 61k cheapest while 49 ub850 @ 55k :)

Mabuhay!
Thank you so much. Today, i went to MOA, SM Bacoor, SM Molino, Abenson-Bacoor and Western-Molino including some of the sellers here on PDVD. Anyway, here are my choices:
Samsung Plasma yung Series 5 (yung 51")
Panasonic UT50 (110volts ; 2012 model; 55")
Sony W600B (48")
Toshiba 50L4300LP (50")
Hisense (50" smart 3d; nasa Php39999) tinest drive ko ito sa SM Molino talagang may kulang eh; pero i am enticed because of the features and the price)
and
Samsung PNF8500 (wishful thinking lang ;D)
(purely for watching cable channels and movies) I am no gamer
Thanks
ps
-
san bro may samsung f8500?
-
Q: When to buy 4k?
A#1: Kapag mainstream na ang 4K.
A#2: Kapag maganda ang upscaling to 4K. I haven't seen the upscaling differences kaya hindi ko masabi.
-
san bro may samsung f8500?
Mabuhay!
I think yung mga sellers dito may ganyan. Kaya lang way beyond my budget. hinanap ko rin sa mga pinuntahan kong places wala sila.
-
The Curved Screen LEDs are really catching my attention these days...
What are your takes on this, fellows?
-
Mabuhay!
I've seen yung mga displays nila na UHD/4K, kung upscaling man yung nakikita ko, "mas pino parang mas malapot ang display", mas malinis kasi parang may another layer na naalis. I just don't know how it will translate kapag sa mga cable channels or local channels. That's how i would describe yung mga UHD/4K na nakita ko.
Yung curved screen leds naman para sa akin, i just don't feel the immersion feeling na sinasabi nila. Parang "yehey curved screen leds" then after that parang ok. ;D For the price, i would rather buy a projector, a really good projector.
-
I took a look at the LG 49UB850 and LG 49LB(something) side by side sa SM. Ang napansin ko lang is walang "screen door effect" ang UHD TV compared to the FHD kahit halos idikit ko na yung ilong ko sa screen. They were showing the same clips and pareho ang size nila.
-

Sir yung TCL na 20 incher ng kakilala ko... after a year. Bumigay yung stand/screw connection. Ayun bumagsak sa floor. FYI
-
unless sobra-sobra ang pera, it's not advisable to be an early adopter of these technologies ... first it's too expensive, and you only get the basic features ... one year after you purchase, the mainstream models would likely become available - half the price, twice as more features
-
Mabuhay!
I am down with this 2 choices and ito yung mga sinabi ng sellers :
Samsung Plasma yung Series 5 H5000 (yung 51") (comes with HT, wall bracket)
cons : i've been reading and hearing a lot of samsung being sirain;
Sony W600B (48") (18 months na 0%, smart tv, home theatre, rudy project na watch and free full hd movies)
cons: im afraid of dead pixels, yung nag-iiba ang image kapag nasa ibang angle ka and its 3 inch shorter compared to samsung but sony is sony, maganda rin ang quality when it comes to durability.
(I am no gamer and i just like to watch a lot of cable shows and movies. I will make the decision by this weekend. ;D)
thanks in advance for any response.

For now, halos lahat ng BR ko pinapanoodan ko dito for break-ins, atsaka laging naka-zoom. Siguro i'll do a review. Keeping my fingers crossed.

went to Ansons earlier to buy a TV and saw the Devant 65 inch UHD TV. I had the sales person audition the unit with a 1080p movie so I can check how it would look with an upscaler to 4k. It did not look well. Not sure if it would look the same with the other brands.

The major brands tend to use nicer scalers. Scaling to 4k needs quite a bit of processing power. The cheapest scalers will just run 4 UHD pixels as 1 HD pixel. If you run an HTPC, you can have the PC do the scaling. Nicer BDPs and AVRs also have good 4K scaling (together with many other devices).
Most branded TVs apply some form of interpolation and sharpening to utilize the extra pixels. Below would be an example (the left image is a low quality upscale, while the right image is a well-processed upscale):

Congrats Sir! Waiting for your review, saw the non 3D version of this. For me picture quality is good plus motion interpolation.

Yeah, the Devant upscaler was really bad. Will go look at the other brands and see for myself. Thanks for the heads up!

TV programs are provided by a local cable operator here in Molino 5. Somehow, somewhere i am liking the quality of the pictures on some channels. The picture mode is most of the time under "user mode", i think this is the lowest mode among the choices.

I like the weight and the length of the remote control. Quick response. And it also works with my sony bluray player.

Do you think guyz i should buy a calibration disc for this TV? Honestly, my plasmas have not been calibrated, i just use what seems to be good in my eyes.
Currently, the TV is connected to the internet via ethernet.
More updates soon. Any comments/criticisms are welcome ^-^
