Hi! I'm inheriting an old Bose Acoustimass 5.1 lifestyle system from my dad. I know the speakers and Subwoofer still works but the original music center receiver has stopped working already. I'm thinking of having it repaired. Or can I use a different and more modern receiver instead? What do you think? Thanks.

I'm using onkyo now, before Harman Kardon. Mostly movies.

I've heard pala that the powered subwoofer needs the original receiver unit to operate it. The satellites can be connected just fine. Can anyone confirm this? Thanks!

Post the exact model number. Bose systems are proprietary most of the time. You must get the original media center to work.
