Care to comment from its Audio/Video presentation.
From the looks of it, its already been released but I don't know whether it's now on stores.
-
as far as I know, sept 25 pa un release. ;D
-
^ September 25 is the R1 release date, but I think the local R3 is already out (although I have not seen it yet myself). This title has also been posted as already available in the "2012: New DVD Titles Already Available in Local Stores" thread. Price for the 1-disc is at P750. As this is a Disney release, I believe the audio/video presentation should be the same as the R1.

It's available. Saw a copy being sold at Astrovision Shangri-La EDSA Mall.
-
This being a Disney/Viva release.
This should have competent video/audio quality :)

thanks! will wait for the blu-ray pack instead. ;D

bought it earlier tonight:
- cheap dvd cover art
- full screen but PQ/SQ are still quite great!
- has only 1 special feature though
- contains both the thanos and shawarma post-credit scenes

The aspect ratio is 1.78:1, so it's widescreen. PQ is good enough, but subject to DVD's limitations. SQ is great.
Bonus material is as stated. a single solitary one - A Visual Journey. No audio commentary, nothing else, almost like a movie only edition.
Bought it for the movie, but feel cheated because it is just barebones... not even a slipcase as consolation for paying full price...

That sucks :( Press release for the 1disc DVD had Audio Commentary by Director Joss Whedon and Assembling the Ultimate Team featurette, guess that would be for R1 release
-
Saw the DVD at a satellite store outside Market Market. Barebones nga. People are being forced to go blu-ray.

agree. the R1 harry potter and the deathly hallows 1 and 2 which i ordered from amazons are also barebones and the dvd case are just like the cheap pirated cases

in amazon, 2 disc bluray+dvd combo is $24.96.
dvd only is $19.96.
$5 lang ang difference so people will opt for the bluray+dvd combo. pinapatay na talaga dvds

Kaya pala...Whedon's commentary was recorded late and Disney didn't want to delay the Aug 29th release that's why we only get a "A Visual Journey" featurette and nothing more :(

Rented this before I buy (because 750 is expensive and the special features is a so-so).
PQ: Almost close to Blu-ray, but lacking the final detail (duh!)
SQ: Almost close to lossless, and its great. I think my ears are going to drip some wax :P
Special Feature: Who cares!?! Just one Special feature and what Special about that. Unfortunately, the studio looks like want to shift people from buying Blu-ray which isn't customer friendly.

You've obviously never heard a Joss Whedon commentary before ;D If you can, check out his commentary on the Serenity DVD just to appreciate how amazing one little extra feature can be.
And just to add to the blu-ray shift issue. Warner already made it painfully obvious that they wanted people to shift all the way back to the DVD release of The Dark Knight. That DVD was no better than a VCD in terms of picture quality.

The Blu Ray is out now in the local market. From what I understand its a 2 disk Blu Ray for P1599. Anyone here got it?
Is it the same as this?
http://www.amazon.com/Marvels-The-Avengers-Four-Disc-Combo/dp/B001KVZ6HK/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1346318665&sr=8-2&keywords=avengers
I read the comparison chart for the Avengers release and it seems like the only gimped version is the DVD version.

The local bluray doesn't have the commentary track listed at the back.

Very sad nga eh, the studios are really skimping on the extras. For a movie of this scope, I think it would still make sense business wise to make this DVD a more elaborate offering.

Kaya nga I bought the J.Sparrow version of TDK when it first came out eh. :D

I guess I'll wait :)

A few months back, I reserved the Avengers DVD kahit alam kong barebones lang ito just because it will come with a bonus poster. I asked sales kung anong poster and they told me it would be the theatrical version BUT to my surprise, the poster was one of those photoshopped picture of the team...yung parang mga nakadisplay sa toys store :-\ so I decided to pass right there and then, di ko na kinuha yung pinareserved ko :-[

Just viewed Avengers DVD (which came from my 4disc BD set)
As expected for a high profile release, picture and audio quality is top notch.
Viewed it with my Optoma HD70 projector. This DVD is demo material. It's not HD but for SD it's encoded very very well. Details abound, colors pop, skin tones are rock solid and sharpness is applied in the right places. All in all I am quite impressed with this DVD release.
Sound is equally engineered with care. Thundering "LFE" throughout the picture will make you smile and think how good of an investment you've made with your system. Sound Effects are all delivered with surgical precision and surround effects add to the atmosphere. Best of all, I must say that Avengers quite possibly has the most coherent dialogue of any DVD ever.
If BD did not exist, this would be the #1 DVD for demo O0

Got the 4 disc 3D blu ray at Amazon for $17.00. A real steal :)

Finally gave in and bought the R1 DVD for Whedon's commentary and I'm glad I did. It was entertaining and loaded with information! :o
