Title: The Apprentice Asia (Wednesdays on AXN)
Post by: Mr. Hankey on May 29, 2013 at 11:27 PM
Anyone watching? There are 2 Pinoys in the cast, and the girl is the only eye candy.  ;D

The contestants aren't nearly as competitive as the ones in the US/UK versions. I guess Asians are just more polite by nature. Not enough backstabbing/bitching to make it as interesting as the other versions.

Is this series any good? If it's as good the UK version, I'll watch it. I don't care much for Trump's original -- it's just a show that feeds his ego, not like the UK version where you really learn stuff about business and the reasons for firing someone is not at all arbitrary.

It's very annoying that in almost every board room, one person seems ready to quit to spare the other team members the player-on-player attacks. I'm glad Fernandes didn't allow it this week. This is also another reason why Celina is my favorite. She's not afraid to throw other players under the bus. Clearly, she and Jonathan are the only ones familiar with the other franchises and how this game is won.

Fernandes isn't all that, either. Instead of telling the final three why he chose to fire one over the others, he always just says "You ALL failed this task," and asks them generically why they should stay in the process, then fires one without explanation. His two assistants are okay during the task observation, but lousy during deliberations. Instead of telling Fernandes who they think should be fired, tonight one just said, "I want to hear why they want to work for you again" and the other said "I think they're all ready to fight." No good input related to the individual failures in the specific task of the week. A far cry from Nick & Karen (also formerly Margaret) on the UK version. But  it's WAY better than Ivanka and Don Jr.'s weekly, "This is going to be a tough one" that they tell their dad during deliberations, followed by a "You made the right call" immediately after the firing.

yup Air Asia, Tune hotels, a UK football team and CATERHAM F1 & GP2 teams and CATERHAM CARS

most recently he completed a PR event with Sir Richard Branson(Mr. VIRGIN), both men made a bet when their F1 teams came in F1 last 2010, lotus racing(tony) and virgin racing(branson)...whomever finished the season standings higher, the loser get to play 'stewardess' in his respective airline company...tony won and here's what happened:

I thought Kathleen Tan's comments on Celina were completely unjustified. I guess Tan is just more used to the subservient, embarrassed Asian front desk staff, and not the confident, intelligent staff more common in North America and Europe.

Of course, my judgment may be colored since Celina is cute...

One of the interviewers told a contestant that the most important virtue in this process is humility.

Clearly this is a different show from the US and UK versions. LOL

Jonathan has gotten a winner's edit so far. One critical mistake, though. Despite having first dibs to choose which items would be his for the charity auction, he chose a project owned by a Filipino friend instead of what was clearly the jewel of the auction: being served on a flight by your special stewardess - Richard Branson. So far that's the only thing that can come back to bite him in the ass. Odd that he chose Celina last for his team. I guess she really wasn't popular with everyone during the process. But he did call her his "fellow Filipina." LOL

The DJs of 89.9 basically spoiled the result last night by announcing they were interviewing the finalists since all the contestants were in the country, but Jonathan Yabut won.

Mabuhay ang Pilipinas!

congrats to Jonathan! seems he was not the 1st choice since Mr. Fernandes said he changed his mind during the final deliberation. for me no doubt that it will be Jonathan who will win. mabuhay ang pilipinas!

My favorite moment from the finale was after the auction, when Tony Fernandes introduced the finalists to the high society crowd, saying "This is Jonathan from the Philippines, he's a dynamic man. And this is Andrea... from Singapore."

Game. Set. Match.
