Title: ELEKTRIKA KASI EH
Post by: keating on Apr 24, 2007 at 06:50 PM
I don't know if anyone can still remember this film, it certainly deserves to be called the Greatest B movie of all time. Heroines abound in Philippine celluloid long before Darna hit the stratosphere. It stars Trixia Gomez who lives in the slums and turn into Elektrika to battle the forces of evil led by Chanda Romero and Celia Rodriguez. The scenes are ultimately surreal, weird and hilarious. Too bad the print no longer exists just like ZOOM ZOOM SUPERMAN. Imagine if they can release it on dvd with DTS.  ;D

i remember Orestes Ojeda playing  Trixia's love interest and he was captured and hypnotized by Chanda Romero. it was also in this film where Cloyd Robinson reprised his role as Isprikitik which he originally played in an episode of Zoom, Zoom, Superman!

Dr. Isprikitik has a pet mummy played by Jimmy Santos who terrorize Trixia, Angie Ferro and forgot the name of the other actress. They were captured and put in the asylum of Dr. Isprikitik wherein he tied the 3 women upside down.

then 3 aliens landed and went inside the asylum.....very surreal very weird.....the rest were history, man, I can't remember anymore.

 ;D

Jojo I didn't know that Vina Casino the villain in Gosiengfiao's LA PALOMA was in this flick. You are really the master of Philippine Cinema!

I wonder if Quentin Tarantino watched this film in Cinemanila. LOL!  ;D

Vina vanished in the mirror, right? How did they do it? Grabe ang pelikula sa pagka-weirdo!

i don't think Quentin is a fan of fantasy movies...

they used cheap animation but it was great!

You should see Quentin laughing while watching Cirio Santiago's THE MUTHERS.  ;D

Yeah cheap animation but very effective. And the costume of Trixia Gomez, so f**kingly outlandish! I'll request Peque to remake this film before he do the musical version of ORO!

agree on the costume it was fabulous!

i really don't remember her gadget in the movie... although there was this scene where Trixia was flying along Ortigas and passed by the Meralco Theater where her legs got cut off in an optical shot...

This was made late 70's, Jojo? The film has creepy atmosphere also. You wish ELEKTRIKA is always around to save the people from the villains.

Remember this, keating. And Trixia was bootylicious in her time, I always thought. (Bata pa lang, medyo manyakis na. Hehe) Remember Jimmy Santos as a mummy and was it Gina Pareno in Planet of the Apes makeup or maybe that was Zoom Zoom Superman? They also had someone in an ape mask here, I think. It'd be brilliant to see this again. Another of my local superhero touchstones, and of many people I know, would be the Pinky Montilla Supergirl.

Yeah, X....Trixia was actually the hot bombshell when ELEKTRIKA came out. You should see her in BEERHOUSE.

My cousins and I don't get tired watching this film back in the late 70's paulit-ulit lang on channel 13.

SUPERGIRL is another lost film. Sayang no more existing copy available.

I have vague recollections of this... ang natatandaan ko lang ay kung gaano kasexy (just like X, maaga akong naging manyakis.... hehehe) si Trixia.  Favorite ko rin yung Supergirl ni Pinky Montilla.  Let's start a drive to get a copy of this two movies!
Title: Re: ELEKTRIKA KASI EH
Post by: keating on Sep 04, 2007 at 11:35 AM
It was the battle of the two bombshells between Trixia Gomez and Chanda Romero in this flick. Chanda shows a little cleavage in her costume medyo kita yung tops and sporting a long hair like a sex goddess with her magic mirror against Trixia.

The fight scenes will match the intensity of the battle scene between Vilma and Gloria Romero on top of the church in LIPAD DARNA LIPAD. But the most amusing part in ELEKTRIKA was the fun......Chanda and company will just appear in a snap to terrorize the people around her.

I was with a group of friends some time back, iba't ibang age group, pero lahat kami nakaukit na sa utak ang higanteng palaka ,ang pagkamatay ni Ike Lozada at ang kanyang tsinelas all from the Pinky Montilla Supergirl. ;D

Madalas i-replay ito sa Channel 13 (ata?) dati, so naka-tatak na rin sa utak ko yung kay Ike Lozada... which reminds me of another movie about isang higanteng ibon na galing ata sa bulkan.  Ano na nga title nun?

  ^ ANAK NG BULKAN (1959)?

In SUPERGIRL, Pinky Montilla is a young girl who got her powers by the ring given to her by an ermitanyo or something and told her to bite the ring in order for her to become a flying superheroine. I remembered a line: "Neneng, neneng. Gumising ka...." 'cause she fell asleep in a well wherein when she wakes up, the ring is already in her finger. She saved a falling boy (or a girl) from the top of a tower as her very first adventure as Supergirl if I'm not mistaken. And of course, the giant frog who wrapped townspeople with its huge tongue. I think Ike Lozada was trampled to death by this humongous creature. The walking dead also added to the huge task given to a local barrio superlass. Those were my recollections of SUPERGIRL.

His role was small . . .well, supporting. He was one of the young soldiers. Ace Vergel apparently played the kid. Vic Diaz was the villain and I remember he gets killed by a fireball.

FPJ played the role of a policeman. Bruno (forgot the surname) was the evil uncle (or stepfather) and the kid was played by the very young Ace Vergel.

Along with FPJ, the other actor was the late Ronald Remy. They were soldiers who were brought to the island when the bird beast started wreaking havoc. If I remember correctly, ang ganda pa ng prologue nung movie. I think it started with a map of the Philippines and how there used to be an island at the eastern part of luzon and that the island was destroyed because of events that happened there -- this was the jump off point for the story of "anak ng bulkan". What I can't remember is the name of the bird. Ace Vergel gave the bird a name.

i hope so. I remember watching this in the afternoons during the 80s along with Sanggol Putik.
We kids thought  this was titled Goliat after the bird's name.
Sanggol Putik was the first horror movie i saw. I can still remember how this film scared me when i was a kid.

Channel 13 has the umatic copy of the movie, but almost all of their collection was burned after the Edsa Revolution. Sayang talaga.

I think the film director is still around.......Danny Cabreira.

Sanggol Putik p[ala title nun. Ito ba yung may batang tinapon sa sapa tapos naging monster?

This was part of an anthology , if I remember. The first story was about some guy with an anting-anting that made him impervious to bullets and the second was about a woman who hits-and-runs a man that coems back to haunt her, later "borrowed" for Creepshow 2.

I was pretty scared by this ,too. :)

I'm not really sure of the main reason but it was burned indie. During the Edsa Revolt yata so that people will not procede to the area after the people got already channel 4.

ELEKTRIKA falls also under Science Fiction genre. Its low-budget and cheap, cardboard props, Trixia's costume is foil wrap in gold and plastic gadgets. Silly, silly ideas but that's make it a pure fun and hilarious to watch!

Time to sleuth for a copy and contact Danny Cabreira and Douglas Quijano.  :D

Oo Sanggol Putik.

LIving in the province and in the 80s where putik is part of everyday things I saw made me really scared of a the creature.

Of course in today's standards, Sanggol Putik would look like a man covered in melted chocolate. ;D

Yeah, our version of Godzilla, sort of. Takot pa naman ako sa tuko noon. Hehe.

Does anybody remember a movie called Taong Bato?

I want to watch this again. It starts out as a typical horror movie about a group of teenagers in Baguio (?)who see a mound come to life into a man-shaped stone who proceeds to kidnap one of them (a girl, of course) than walks all over what looked like the whole country with the girl slung over its back and the cops couldn't do anything but watch  - - -and sometimes hand over pandesal and drinks to the captive. Then, at the last minute, it becomes a superhero movie when this Batman/Spiderman hybrid called gagamba is called to help out. Bizarre, to say the least.

Naiyak din ako noon. Hehe.

Jdelacruz and I were discussing some time back how Odette Khan should be given a new life in indie films., more meatier roles than just her usual villainesses, I think she can hack it. Medyo iconic na yan and mahusay naman lumabas. Sayang nga wala ni Ramon Zamora.

Nice. :) SANGGOL PUTIK, TUKO and TAONG BATO = interesting! You kind of remember some of them when someone reminds you there exists that kind of movies. Filipino movies really has a way of conjuring up stories that tickles people's fascination with mythology and the obscure. Just talking about them made it more exciting to watch those movies again. Kung tutuusin may mga counterpart noon pa ang mga pinoy sa mga pelikulang Hollywood na mostly e unintentional. Minsan, tayo pa ang unang nakakaisip ng ideya.

No, you're thinking of Darna and the Giants.   :)  Ike Lozada died in that movie too. And if I'm not mistaken, Darna (Vilma Santos) dropped a huge church bell on his face.  ;D  I believe there were four (?) giant villains and one of them was Jun Papa, a former PBA player.  I should know kasi ninong ko siya.  :D  Anyway,  I really don't know if there was another version of this Tuko thingy.

As for Supergirl . . .yeah. there was even Popeye , Batwoman and Robin, Alyas Phantom, Alyas Batman and Robin and Zoom Zoom Superman.

You're right you can't do these things anymore. Not this outright and blatant. Well maybe you can. Look at all those Turkish remakes of Hollywood blockbusters. Personally, Ishma's Zoom Zoom Superman is a lot more interesting and way more fun than that Bryan Singer-Brandon Routh sleeping pill. ;D

Nope he's the mad doctor. Its Ernie Garcia half-naked with snakes on his head. The other alien I can't remember anymore.

didn't he reprise his role as Isprikitik in this movie?

Yes, Cloyd was Dr. Isprikitik what I meant was the other company of Chanda aside from him.

I can't really forget in this film the fight scene between Trixia and Chanda, it was a pure blast with rays of light coming from the hands of Elektrika against the magic mirror of Chanda!

Jojo, who wrote ELEKTRIKA?

Ok..... I'm starting to reconnect all my memories in this film. There's also the bunch of snakes following Chanda's company whenever they appear in the film mostly in the narrow slums area. I wonder also who was the production designer? You gonna laugh with the cheap visuals but its terrific and pure fun.

Helen Gamboa portrays X3X. Her line was....that's my brain the most superior brain in the entire universe.

Too bad her showdown with Vilma was too short.

Welcome aboard zeoffree. The one you mentioned came from Helen Gamboa's line also. She's Rosanna Ortiz, unforgettable also as the ghost who terrorize Susan Roces in PATAYIN MO SA SINDAK SI BARBARA.

hi again sir keating
si cloyd robinson daw po ba or si sandy garcia si spirikitik?  siya rin po ba yung parang may sira na may nakasabit pang mga lata around his waist sa supergirl ni pinly montilla?

also, do you know po the title of the ramon zamora movie na he went to hell (yung mga tsismosa yung hinahatak yung dila then minamaso as parusa) and si george estregan si satan?

thanks   ;)

Dr. Isprikitik was Cloyd Robinson. I dunno if he was also in SUPERGIRL. If there was one movie about hell and yes you are right about those rumor mongerers being pull to death thru their tongue its in LANGIT LUPA with Susan Roces, Rosanna Ortiz and Ronaldo Valdez. I always thought IMPIYERNO was also included on the title, I was wrong.

George Estregan played Satan in many films including LUMABAN KA SATANAS  with Ramon Revilla. This title would be release in Region 1. Ramon Zamora's flick was KARUNUNGANG ITIM  with Lotis Key.

The movie never lose its momentum from start to finish! It combines sci-fi, comedy and horror in one film. The spaceship where the 3 aliens came from before they went into the house of Dr. Isprikitik is perhaps the funniest spaceship I've ever seen.

And the scene where Trixia had to passed a narrow alley full of snakes is enough to keep you awake in your dreams. Throw in a bunch of eccentric characters and villains and you've got a film to remember for the rest of your life.

And yes, Ronaldo Valdez as the archaeologist reminds me of Dolphy in OMENG SATANASIA.

Hi, welcome. I believe almost everyone who loves tagalog movies is on the lookout for those films you mentioned. Sadly, most of them (if not all) no longer existed (?).

Too bad the 35mm print can no longer found, even a video copy doesn't exist anymore.

Back in the early 80's before Cinema One and cable came out it was shown at channel 13 paulit-ulit lang and those Martial law babies can attest to this.
