anyone know if/when this Full HD 3D projector from Acer will be locally available? and IF it will be available, where could it be bought?
its specs are promising:
- Full HD resolution
- 3000 lumens
- 3D support
- 4.85 lb weight

oh, and it costs just $800! ::)
the only let-down in its specs is its contrast ratio of 10k:1
where I found out about the H6510BD:

Up on this Acer H6510BD. This pj sells just below $800 at Amazon. Currently this PJ has three 5-star ratings (1 from Projector Central and 2 from Amazon). I am eyeing this cheap PJ for viewing 1080p 2D/3D BDs. Hopefully I could get some more feedback from fellow pdvder(s) who already own this item. TIA

OMG! It's finally available on our shores!!! ;D :D ;D

true. but it still costs a lot less than an Optoma, Epson, or Panasonic projector.

what does 3D limited to PC sources mean http://www.projectorcentral.com/projector_news.cfm?2013-03-05-Upcoming-reviews-MarchApril&entry_id=596 (http://www.projectorcentral.com/projector_news.cfm?2013-03-05-Upcoming-reviews-MarchApril&entry_id=596)? so this PJ can't play Full 3D ISO coming from an NMT Player nor 3D BD? sorry for the noob question. thanks!

@Allan
This is my first pj, so take this as just an opinion of a newbie. I'm comparing this vs my 42in LED TV. Projecting to a 120inch screen. Walls are dark blue all around with little ambient light.
Out of the box impression is stunning. 1080p content is as sharp as my 42in LED tv, but, with a smoother texture (filmlike?), even with some ambient light. Before buying this, I was also looking at a 60in LED tv. I noticed in the showrooms that LED tv's on 60in sizes are very sharp to the point of looking cartoonish (can see th jaggedness on the edge of the images). The LED TV may be calibrated to soften this image, but this pj delivers filmlike quality on a bigger scale.
Switched to ECO mode and the pq is still excellent. Turned off Brialliantcolor to lower the brightness further (lesser power consumption) and the pq became a litte dull with ambient light. On totally dark room, Brilliantcolor OFF and ECO mode ON worked great.
Had my son play XBOX games (NBA, Halo, DOA) and no game lags observed.
Built-in speaker is disappointing. Not really enough volume (2 W) to be usable.
Rainbow-effects... Observed this only on some scenes with fast moving white and blacks (e.g. The first part of the movie Equilibrium where a gunfight happened on a dark room). Not noticeable on subtitles. In my experience, I barely notice RBE.
Very satisfied so far!

Nice review.
In my experience with such low contrast PJ mas sharp siya pag mas maliit sa 100. Dati kasi naka 110 ako na screen size on my PJ and napansin ni jammy na di siya ganun ka sharp so try ko liitan mas naging sharp siya. Ewan ko lang sa brand na ito.

Magkano kaya if straight card or cash?
-
@Toreador
have you gotten 3D glasses for your Acer pj yet? compatible dito ang NVidia 3D Vision at Sainsonic.
@crazyhog
may nabasa ako sa ibang thread na around 47k raw ang discounted price pag cash purchase. as for me, baka bilhin ko na to via card this weekend. ;)

bro elms malayo ito sa pj mo for sure. pero pwede na dahil may local warranty naman, tsaka mas mahaba ang lamp life. kung bibili ako nito baka max of 90" lang ang gagawin ko. (walang kulaman kasi wala akong pera) ;D

Comparison sa high contrast with wpson AE mas maganda yun with high contrast.

@DTNS
No plans for 3d at the moment.
@xrampage
If I recall, iba yata ang contrast specs talaga ng DLP vs LCD in terms of pq. Almost all LCD pj have very high contrast specs compared to DLPs. I cannot remember how this translates to the actual image.

Projector key points review regarding this projector.
Performance
Light output. The Acer H6510BD is bright. At its brightest, in fact, our test sample measured 2524 ANSI lumens with the lamp at full power. Even eco-lamp mode, with its extended lamp life, puts out 1856 lumens in Bright mode -- 74% of full power output. Bright mode's color is undersaturated and pushes blue/green, while black level suffers, but Bright mode can be useful in a room with high ambient light where those factors matter less than pure output.
Standard mode, which has a more balanced image than Bright mode, produces 1844 lumens with the lamp at full power. Standard mode's black level and shadow detail are better than Bright mode, while color shows less of a blue push though green is still overdriven.
By default, Movie mode is the projector's best film and video mode. At 1336 lumens with the lamp at full power, Movie mode has the best default white balance of any mode, though it is still several hundred degrees off from 6500K. Our final calibration for film and video used Movie mode as a starting point and measured almost exactly 1300 lumens post-calibration. In a darkened theater, that is more than enough to drive even the largest screens up to 140" diagonal and above. But the H6510BD really shines in a room with some ambient light, where that extra lumen output can help defeat ambient light and still produce a bright, satisfying picture.
While none of the pre-calibrated image modes are appropriate for large screens, you can also reduce light output by 52% by disabling BrilliantColor in the projector's Advanced menu. If you have a small screen and a light-controlled room, this can help bring the projector's brightness in line with your needs.
Contrast. The H6510BD's black level is deep enough to create a satisfying picture. However, this does not mean that it is the equal of projectors many times more expensive, which benefit from better internal light control, auto iris systems, and higher-contrast chips. Black level is comparable to other entry-level 1080p projectors. Shadow detail is well-defined, and deep shadows in the very low range are still rendered cleanly.
Color. The H6510BD has three preset color temperature settings: CT1, CT2, and CT3. CT2, which is the default in Movie mode, is the most accurate of the three, but red is still under-emphasized while green is pushed. Folks who don't mind fine-tuning their projectors will want to switch to User mode and make adjustments from there.
Limitations
Color. While grayscale on the H6510BD can be calibrated to near 6500K, the projector still has some color problems. First and foremost, the projector's color gamut is nowhere near the Rec.709 recommendation. This means that while the relative levels of red, green, and blue in an image may be balanced correctly, the projector has a different idea of what constitutes, for example, "green" than the source material does. Color gamut is notoriously difficult to calibrate without the proper equipment, and it is important that low-cost projectors have accurate gamuts whenever possible as most buyers of the H6510BD will not want to spend the money or time to calibrate the projector properly.
What's more, the H6510BD has low color brightness. Color brightness or Color Light Output (sometimes abbreviated CLO) is a measure of a display's ability to produce colored light. The standard addresses the problem of a projector producing much more white light than colored light, which is helpful in certain circumstances but can be actively harmful in others. Our test unit measured color light output at only 47% of white light output when BrilliantColor is enabled. Disabling BrilliantColor reduces white light output such that white light output (WLO) and CLO are equal, but as you might imagine that kills most of the H6510BD's white light lumens.
You should care about color light output for a few reasons. First of all, a large imbalance between WLO and CLO causes the image to look unbalanced and changes your perception of color. Next to a super-bright white, color tends to look dull, dreary, and undersaturated. When you're trying to produce a well-balanced cinema image, the brightness differential can be detrimental.
No VESA port. Some DLP Link projectors have the ability to switch to IR sync by using an external emitter. Since the H6510BD lacks a VESA port, you're locked into DLP Link for the life of the projector. It also makes it difficult, if not impossible, to connect 3D accessories, as they tend to use the VESA standard. Then again, few of the H6510BD's competitors include a VESA port, either.
Color wheel. With a six-segment RGBCMY color wheel spinning at 7200RPM, the H6510BD has a 2X-speed color wheel. This means those sensitive to rainbows will see them in droves. As there are other projectors around this price range with faster color wheels, the H6510BD could be a poor choice for anyone with a known sensitivity to color separation artifacts.
3D flicker. The Acer H6510BD runs at a 96Hz refresh rate, which is low for a 3D projector. This means that users sensitive to 3D flicker will tend to see more of it on the H6510BD than on a projector with a higher refresh rate. If you plan to watch a lot of 3D content, this could be an important criterion for your decision.
No customization of image presets. The H6510BD has a number of pre-calibrated image modes, but those modes cannot be altered. Instead, when you select an image mode and make an adjustment, the projector pushes your settings over to the User option where you can make further adjustments. As the projector only has one User memory, that means you can only save one group of settings.
This can be problematic depending on how you want to use the projector. For example, color calibrations when BrilliantColor is off are wildly different from color calibrations with BrilliantColor on. BC off looks smoother and more natural, but BC on provides much more white light output. If you use your H6510 in a dual-use capacity as both theater and living room projector, it would be helpful to retain both sets of calibrations without having to manually input them every time.
Brightness uniformity. Our test sample showed noticeable dimming in the corners of the image. The dimmest corner (top left on our projector) was only 65% as bright as the image's center. This is most evident on a solid white screen, but it can manifest when watching film and video as well. It is also possible that this was a problem only on our test sample and other samples will not display this flaw.
Shootout: Acer H6510BD versus BenQ W1070
The Acer H6510BD's closest competitor is the BenQ W1070. Both projectors are native 1080p, DLP-based, and have full 3D compatibility. Both have dual HDMI ports, 1.3:1 manual zoom lenses, and long-life lamps. So what sets these two projectors apart?
Image quality. Despite similar specifications, the images from the H6510BD and W1070 are very different in their character. Both projectors produce similar amounts of light and have similar black levels, but the W1070 produces a smoother, more balanced, more natural-looking image than the H6510BD. Color is more accurate and better saturated on the W1070. In images with strong highlights, the W1070 does not have the screaming-bright whites of the H6510BD, which makes it look more like reality. If video quality is a primary concern, the W1070 has several distinct advantages.
3D. The W1070 has a qualitative advantage when it comes to 3D. While the H6510BD is brighter by far, the W1070 has the advantage of a faster refresh rate. By refreshing at 144 Hz to the H6510BD's 96 Hz, the W1070 shows less flicker and a smoother overall picture. Neither projector has a crosstalk problem, largely due to the fact that DLP Link is not especially prone to crosstalk.
Brightness. Both projectors' calibrated modes measure somewhere in the neighborhood of 1300 lumens. The H6510BD has a brighter maximum output, at 2524 to the W1070's 1554, so users looking for a living-room projector might want to take that into consideration.
Contrast. The W1070 and H6510BD have similar black levels, and both render shadow detail well, so contrast is effectively a tie.
Color. The W1070 has a distinct advantage when it comes to color. Not only does the projector's better saturated, more accurate color give it a clear advantage in HD content, but it also has more accurate color straight out of the box for users who don't want to fiddle around in the menus. Both projectors can be calibrated to 6500K grayscale, but the W1070's more accurate gamma and better saturation give it an edge even so.
Rainbows. The W1070's 4x-speed RGBRGB wheel shows significantly fewer rainbows than the H6510BD's 2x-speed RGBCMY wheel. If you are sensitive to rainbows, that's worth considering.
Features. The W1070 has a small amount of vertical lens shift while the H6510BD has none. On the other hand, the H6510BD has 2D to 3D conversion while the W1070 does not. The H6510BD's lamp life is slightly longer, while its fan is quieter.
Conclusion
The Acer H6510BD may be the most affordable full 3D projector available today. At $799, it delivers an attractive image that's great for high-definition films and video in either a darkened theater or a living room.
While the W1070 has advantages over the H6510BD in several important areas, it also costs about 20% more than the H6510BD. Neither projector comes with 3D glasses, but both use inexpensive DLP Link eyewear rather than a proprietary solution. These days, especially when working with entry-level projectors, that $200 gap can be important to some people. As always, it is up to the user to determine whether the additional image quality is worth the extra money.

Magkano kaya if straight card or cash?
Got it for P47.5k cash at villman around a month ago.
With nothing to compare to but my old 42" panasonic plasma 720p, the blacks on the plasma is better. Probably because of the natural brightness of the projector. But the sharpness is superb out of the box. Ayaw nang pansinin ng mga anak ko yung plasma. ;D

I have been scouting a PJ for a friend. Unfortunately, locally Viewsonic and Benq do not carry 1080p models. Usually they have the lower end data projectors which has a bigger market than their hometheater models. My friend also ended up with the Acer H6510BD.

I see. :) anyway, so far pinaka color-balanced sa akin ang "User" setting ng PJ na to. I'll try calibrating the settings one of these days. ;)
-
Congrats sir DTNS sa bagong pj. Pa-share naman ang "User" mode settings mo after you calibrate.
Speaking of black levels, for all who are long time pj users, how do you improve black levels on a pj? I was looking at my 42" LED tv side by side with this pj (120" screen) and the images on the LED TV just pops out due to the really dark blacks and bright colors. I'm thinking of putting some black felt on my white ceiling to further tone down reflections (all my walls are already dark). Others suggest to use an ND filter to reduce brightness further. My 12 year old RPTV has better blacks than this pj but worse than the LED tv. I aim to just at least match the RPTV blacks.
Thanks in advance!

no bro, what i meant was the acer.

We were able to test DTNS' PJ yesterday at my house and I was surprised at the performance of this.
Sharpness
It really depends on the player. We tried playing BD ISOs (The Hobbit, Underworld Awakening) using XBMCs internal player. We find the picture a little bit on the soft side. Others would want this being more theaterlike.
We tried playing some Remuxed MKVs (The Hobbit, Escape from Planet Earth, Battleship) using Splash PRO Ex and man I was blown away. It was like having a big full HD LED TV in front of us! Picture was very sharp and for a time I forgot it was a projector.
We went to my HTPCs Desktop and the letters were sharp and very readable. I wasn't expecting this from a DLP PJ. From what I have observed, LCD PJs excel in this aspect. It even beat the crap out of my Epson 8350 when it comes to reading text.
Brightness
This PJ is bright even with ambient lights on. You can watch a movie without washed out colors. I was surprised that it was only on Eco mode. I am not saying that selecting the normal mode would be better for movie watching unless you want to watch a movie while reading a book with all the lights on.
Colors
I do not have calibration equipment but the colors were good in animation but with a reddish hue noticeable in face closeups. These are all on default settings and could be improved more with calibration.
Contrast
It has a contrast ratio of 10000:1. It paled a little compared to my Epson. Lack of black levels were noticeable in dark scenes. I am not saying it is bad but then we had another PJ to compare it with. If it was standalone, you wouldn't notice or care about it. Just enjoy what you see.
RBE (Rainbow Effect)
You'll see them once in awhile. Just brush it away and not make a big fuss out of it.
For the price and its performance for full HD sources, I highly recommend this PJ.
-
approve kay doc ang Acer PJ! ;D

Sorry I think OT ito, pero how do you campare it with Optoma HD33 Esp Black Level.
I guess that the Acer would have better black levels than the Optoma. Acer has a Contrast Ratio of 10000:1 compared to Optomas 4000:1.
Acer H6510BD vs Optoma HD33 (http://versusio.com/en/acer-h6510bd-vs-optoma-hd33)

-
I thought I was happy with my Epson 8350 until yesterday. Or maybe I just wanted something different. Although the colors and black levels of my Epson trumped over Acer's, the sharpness (LED-like) of the Acer gave the WOW factor. Colors though can be improved with calibration as I did simple calibration already with my Epson before and the Acer was at default levels. I even tried to adjust the focus of my Epson to equal the sharpness of the Acer--wala talaga. This was not done with a calibration disc but just a simple comparison of reading text from my HTPCs desktop. Parang biglang lumabo ang Epson! Maybe this has something to do with the Acer's 1920x1200 resolution vs Epson's 1920x1080.
Malas lang my camera ran out of charge as I myself would be proud to post some screenshots from yesterday's test.
Rule of thumb: once you buy your gear, do not look and compare it to others. >:D

Yes a Grey screen would help in improving black levels in PJs with low CR.

Not sure. But definitely the Acer is brighter with 3000 lumens vs Epson's 2000 lumens.

Any idea sa price ng replacment bulb?

$174 for the replacement lamp from Compsource (http://www.compsource.com/pn/MCJFZ11001/Acer_America_10/Replacement-Lamp-For-Acer--H6510bd-MCJFZ11001/). With the lamp life of 4000 hours (normal mode) and 7000 hours (eco mode), I think you would be thinking of an upgrade rather than a bulb replacement. finally got this projector after 5 days. tested it last night and i was very satisfied. image at 130" is blindingly bright even with eco mode! sometimes i think that i turned off the eco mode when i got blinded by bright scenes but its really on. i can even use this with lights on!
i cant really find a cons so far except for the rainbow effect (forgot the term). im happy with my purchase :)
cant wait for my 3d glass.

@miccollo
nice deal sir! yung akin 46.5k wala pang 2 pcs 3d glass (villman moa branch). napa order pa ako sa amazon ng 3d glass na sainsonic.
actually nung nabasa kong may free 3d glass sa ibang branch pina-cancel ko yung order ko para sa iba na lang ako mag order at pumayag naman sila pero after an hour nakiusap sila na kunin ko na lang daw dahil parating na that day ang unit ko.

nice deal sir! yung akin 46.5k wala pang 2 pcs 3d glass (villman moa branch). napa order pa ako sa amazon ng 3d glass na sainsonic.
actually nung nabasa kong may free 3d glass sa ibang branch pina-cancel ko yung order ko para sa iba na lang ako mag order at pumayag naman sila pero after an hour nakiusap sila na kunin ko na lang daw dahil parating na that day ang unit ko.
hmmm... parang lugi ako ah. I paid 47.5k (straight) and I didn't get any free 3D glasses. :(
matawagan nga ang Acer, MegaMall...
-
New stocks data Yun may glasses sir. When I first inquired walang glasses included. I didn't actually expect na meron.
Tried the 3D glasses kanina by 2D to 3D conversion. We were smiling as we watched Avatar.
Now I need a 3D media player to play my SBS files. :-)

Same thing sir. Ordered the Sainsonic glasses through Amazon. Sana has maganda performance. :-)

you can try bro Measy X5 for your H-SBS, H-OU 3D movies. I'm using as well Sainsonic 3d glasses for 3d movies. All I can say mas maganda ang effect nung optoma glasses compared to Sainsonic. But at 31 USD a pair, I can't ask anything more. :)

6510 owners,

I'll check. I'll also try calling Acer MegaMall to inquire if I can claim 3D glasses as well. ;)
-
I called Acer MegaMall earlier today. Good news: they said that those who bought the H6510BD early (June 2013) can claim their free 3D glasses! :D it turns out it was their supplier's fault that the 3D glasses weren't included in the first batch of H6510 projectors sold. so may utang sila sa atin! ;)
you would have to call the branch where you bought your unit though.
-
^nice! gotta call villman hehehe!
-
Good news! Now we can compare the performance of the free glasses vis-a-vis sainsonic. Thanks for the info Sir DTNS.
-
6510 owners,
called Acer Phil. Davao, wala daw international warranty for PJ :-(.
may Travellers warranty sila tinatawag pero more on Laptop.
-
Acer, Mega just called me. I can pickup my 2 3D glasses na! ;D
-
-
guys,
has anyone of you mounted your PJs permanently already? I have not yet decided kse whether to do a ceiling mount or bookshelf mount.
any experiences you can share will be greatly appreciated! ;D
-

-
I haven't mounted mine. gusto ko madaling ilipat ang PJ from living room to bedroom, etc. ;)

Feel na feel mo talaga blockbuster movie. Standing room only! (http://l.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/emoticons7/21.gif)
-
-
Sir,
Si mo ginalaw keystone? I under bait pumuti? Is your ceiling white or light colored?
-
Sir,
Si mo ginalaw keystone? I under bait pumuti? Is your ceiling white or light colored?
Di ba ginagamit ang keystone to fix the projection on the screen it will not affect the PQ.
-
Sir,
Si mo ginalaw keystone? I under bait pumuti? Is your ceiling white or light colored?
-
I read some comments about why its not ideal to have light colored ceilings as it will add to the ambient light. I have the same ceiling kaya alanganin ako. Have not thought of a fix yet also.
Also read somewhere that one should not adjust keystone as PQ gets affected and you lose your full HD picture.
-
Di kasi makapag-confirm ang Villman SM North Edsa Branch. :(
-
@nick
-
Got my own H6510BD beamer from Villman Trinoma for 45k(cash) same as miccollo <- thanks for sharing this info. I intended to get it from Acer Megamall, but they don't offer the same low cash price as Trinoma. Friendly and no-frills accommodation from their sup (Ryan) and staff. I am just not sure if what they've mentioned as warranty (2 years unit, 1 year bulb) holds true as I have not seen any print on the accompanying papers mentioning this.
This upgrade outweighs any of my recent audio and video upgrade in terms of experience. :) Looking forward to this weekend of large screen viewing.
Will be looking forward to shared posts on optimal projector settings and on DIY'ing a projection screen (hope a decent 130" is do-able).
-
@bejiboys
Congrats on your new H6510BD! Enjoy! :)
regarding pickup up my 3D glasses a while ago, di ako natuloy. nawili ako sa audition sa Shangrila EDSA. hahaha! ;D I'll pick it up tom for sure. ;)
-
naghihintay pa din ako ng tawag from villman moa branch. mukhang wala silang balak tawagan ako. mag follow up ako tom.
-
I finally got my free 3D glasses! ;D
(https://fbcdn-sphotos-c-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn2/981368_10153000583180580_2131810733_o.jpg)
now all I need is an htpc and 3D media. ;)
-
Congrats Beji! Good to know someone benefited from the info. :D
-
Nice! How’s the 2d to 3d convertion?
-
The depth of a converted 2D film to 3D is ok but not overwhelming compared to that of a true 3d movie. Of course, that also depends on how such movie was made.
-
Congrats Beji! Good to know someone benefited from the info.
will also get my 3d glasses mamaya. salamat talaga sa info!
-

finally got to try several 3D movies yesterday. And I have to say, I'm all the more happy with my purchase! Watching 3D in 100inches is so much better than watching it on those 42" TVs na ka presyo nitong projector na to!
Good thing my Xtreamer can play those half-SBS formats!

Mga bro, thanks sa head-up on the 3d glasses. Watched Avatar 3d HSBS on the Med1000x3d. Ayos! Agree that 3d is stunning on a big screen (120 in) vs. 3d I see in the showrooms (60 in LED). Also enjoyed the improved Black levels on 3d.
Kelangan ng bumili ng additional glasses for the family. Anyone tried the $20 Sainsonic DLP link glasses at ebay?
-
gotta get more 3d movies!

-
bro alvin, oks lang yan. Enjoy!!! ;)
-
-

I am using the sainsonic. It does the job of rendering and the family enjoys it. Kaya lang I don't have other brands to compare it to. Di ko pa nakukuha yung free 3d glasses. Di pa rin nagco-confirm ang Villman SM North Edsa Branch. :(
-

Thanks nick_d for confirming. If it does the job, good enough for me. I will start ordering na. Need to get 6 more glasses (big family...). But have to order two at a time so as not to exceed the $50 customs limit.

Kailangan ko na ng projector calculator for the minimum distance from a 100inch display. :)

ideal: 9' 6"
max zoom: 8' 5"

Sirs, Anong gamit nyo na affordable PJ ceiling mount compatible dito (preferably with horizontal adjustment feature for centering the lens to the screen). Naka tabletop pa kasi ung PJ ko.
-
ideal: 9' 6"
max zoom: 8' 5"
-
issue pala ang placement nito if you have a room na let us say 5 meters and haba projecting into a 90" screen.

Yung ibang PJ kasi meron dual zoom kaya kahit malapit malaki pa din ang naproproject na screen like 120 inch or more.
-

-
Thanks sir praktikal. Ano yung max zoom distance? Meaning if its that far na kailangan ng gamitin yung max zoom to get the 100 inch display?
-

"If the projector is 3 m from the screen, good image quality is possible for image sizes between 91" and 118"."
This is according to the user's manual. At 2.5 m, the image size is between 76" and 98". Maybe you can make an approximation with these data.

in my case if ever I get this tamang tama sa center light and will not look nice sa mata. not unless magpa reconfigure ng ceiling which is very expensive to do. siguro nga para sa presentation ang primary use nito

i think short throw pj nga ito. don't know if mayron dual zoom capability din.

Larger, brighter cinemaShow movies on a mammoth scale (up to 300 inches or 762 cm in size) in a billion colors and astonishing clarity. Make your living room your personal multiplex with Acer Home Series projectors, and leave behind the ordinary in entertainment for a cinematic experience that is truly awesome.

para maging ok yan sa room ko dapat magpalaki ako ng screen from 90" to 120" but still not in a very ideal placement. hay sana mayron home demo or demo to sell.

or may isang mabait na member na ipahiram syo tutal very portable naman hehehe...
another issue in my case ang audible (fan) noise @ 32dB kasi saktong nasa taas sya ng sweet spot. yung ax200 medyo sa likod pero @ 25dB dinig pa din ang fan. low ceiling kasi ang attic. baka makakatulong kung lagyan ko ng acoustic foam ang palibot ng shelf (just in case). :(
parang ganito ang mangyayari:

Nice idea bro noli

If ever, swak ang 6510 with acoustic egg foam.

-
got my sainsonic 3d glass. will make a comparison vs the acer glass later.

-
I got to test my Acer PJ along with the rest of my 4.1 setup in my bedroom earlier. the image was projected onto my white-painted wall. lights out, the image looks okay. with my fluorescent room light on, the image looks washed-out. I guess kailangan talaga ng projector screen para hindi maging washed-out ang image. ;)
-
already tested the sainsonic and the acer 3d glass. for me the acer glass is the winner. it has better colors (better black) and better sharpness plus the build quality is better than the sainsonic. the sainsonic glass feels cheap for me.

its 2ft above my head. mas naririnig ko pa yung fan ng pc ko na 2ft from my left and yung aircon na 6ft behind me.

sir,
gaano katagal umaabot yun battery life ng Sainsonic na glasses?
-
Ung commercial PJ screen na kasama ng H6510BD had "grainy" picture and hotspotting. Tried DIY based from projectorcentral to paint smoothened plywood using pure white "satin-finish" paint - Mas nagiging "grainy" and had severe hotspotting.
Then I came across DIY screen silverfire V.2 sa AVSforum, I tried to copy the concept behind the famed formula and here's what I got: (red-green-blue-yellow tinting colors in 50ml, 25ml, 16ml & 9ml combination) added to a base paint combination of 40% neutral satin with 60% flat white. The result was awesome and the colors had more "pop".The overall brightness of the image was so even that I cant see hotspotting even with movies with very high brightness (i.e. happy feet). The blacks were much blacker and because of the R-G-B-Y tinting paint, the colors are more brilliant.
For comparison, on a separate plywood I painted a flat white plus black tint (to produce the same gray tint) and the result was no way near this "SF V.2". Colors are dull and the whites are darker though it has a very slight advantage on the black level because of the black tint.
I was so impressed with the results that I ordered the original paints from Amazon used on the original SF V.2(i.e.RustOleum Metallic Pearl white Accents; Liquitex Basics Acrylics) to see whether I'll be able to get a much better picture quality. Will update sa forum once the original paints arrive in 4-6 weeks.
-
sir,
gaano katagal umaabot yun battery life ng Sainsonic na glasses?
nakalagay sa manual 36hours.
-
@rules, that sounds great! please do share your experience again! ;D
-
Oo nga. Looks promising. Pwedeng mag-volt in sa tinting color etc for shipment.
-
Latest update from Forexworld: Spilled daw ung RustOleum metallic pearl white accents. So pinapareplace ko sa Amazon. I think this one is the missing ingredient na wala sa formula ko, walang metallic paint available dito Pinas na water-based for walls. You can do DIY mga sirs (base paint: neutral satin+white) and tinting colors (RGBY) and filtered water. Apply in very, very thin coatings up to 5-6 coats (add more water), If masyado concentrated ung paint hindi ganon ka-balanced ung texture ng screen. After ~1.5 hrs, you can scrub the screen with damp chamois (automotive) to remove excess paint before applying another coat .
It was very good screen for my H6510BD. I'll also try the RS-MaxxMudd V.2 Mix once the materials arrive.

Sir how do you play 3D SBS? Do you need to enable some settings on the PJ? I tried playing some SBS on my friend's PJ with my Measy X5. When the movie was playing, there was no option in the Measy menu to convert the SBS to 3D. Sa PJ naman nakalagay 3D, 2D to 3D conversion, 3D resync. All of those options didn't convert my SBS movies to the output that was expected.
-
^sir dun sa menu ng acer meron dun option to display 3d mode like half sbs, top and bottom, frame sequential, etc. baka hinanap mo dun sa 3d button sa remote wala yun doon.

Hi, I'm new in the projector scene and looking at this projector. Wala ako alam sa projectors hehe. I will be putting it in my bedroom. My viewing distance is around 9 to 10 feet. I plan to put the projector around my viewing distance. Couple of questions
1, I don't like watching in the dark. Can I watch this with the full lights on? How about just a couple of ambient light in the back? Is this ok?
2. How big of a screen should I buy. 84 inches ok? Or can I go 90 to 100?
3. My walls and ceiling are all white.
Should I go for this? This will save me a lot of money rather going the led way (70 to 75 inches)
Thanks

You need a dark room, ideally black. Pero since your room is basically white, liliwanag din yan when you use your projector. Makikita mo pa din mga walls and tables mo etc. You PJ would give you more than ambient light. Kung galing ka sa mga panel display, i suggest you start with a 100" screen. Mag-DIY ka muna ng screen using plywood. Lakihan mo na, mga 125". Kung papaliitin mo, you can cover the borders with felt naman.

try nyo dto sir. For me, try nyo muna e project un PJ and try to zoom in and out til makuha nyo ang perfect size for u and dun na kau maka decide anong size comfortable sa eyes mo.
Ideal talaga ay dark room pero with controlled lights at the back, pwd na un IMO like isang maliit na lamp shades. Dark paint is also a plus.

1. No, viewing with full lights on will make the image washed out. A couple of lights on at the back will still cause washed out images. A DIY screen can combat ambient light, but not that much. Dont worry about watching in total darkness since this PJ is a light canon, it can still lit your room even with the lights off.
2. at 9 -10 ft viewing distance, 90-100" would be just fine.
3. white ceiling & walls will also contribute to washed out images, start with dark curtains for the wall (i.e. maroon, dark blue curtains).
Should you go for it? depends on you, audition 1st other member's set up before buying, saves money.

So puede pa ako mag pj? kahit very bright room ko? I have no choice but to put it in our bedroom, kasi condo lang ako. Kasi I plan to keep my led tv then I will have a motorized screen that can roll down in front of the tv. So I will not be doing the diy screen (yun plywood). I already talked to listen up in glorietta about an motorized 84 inch screen. He said kung mag 90 to 100 ako, maging malabo na daw yun picture. But I have to check daw the specs of the projector first.

Ok I can use the 70 by 70 tripod na free and test it out, once I buy the projector. Problem talaga is, What if my room is too bright bec. of the walls and I don't like it, eh nabili na yun projector hehe..

If you cant make your roon dark and can't eliminate ambient light then PJ is not for you...
LED backlit LCD TV is the way to go...

very true about the light cannon statement! ;D

@ Moks
baka your light walls will not matter that much if your screen will still have some ample space away from the wall.
my ceiling is white but it does not cause a problem. my screen is about 1 foot lower than the ceiling and about a foot off the walls on the side.
you need to find a way though to control or lower the amount of light entering the room.
This projector is capable of handling some ambient light but it's still best to keep it at a minimum.
-
also, turn off ECO mode if you're gonna use your Acer PJ in ambient light. ;)

Ok thanks so much guys. I think this all can work out well. Appreciate everybody's input.

Well, I got this pj tod hehe, I'm just playing around with it so far. ;D
Question naman pls., I have a 3d bluray player already, a pioneer bdp450 with two hdmi's. I send one hdmi to the pj and one to my Onkyo 608 receiver. I tried playing a couple of 3d movies but it just goes blank. It keeps saying "signal processing, pls wait" What am I doing wrong? On regular blurays all of them played fine. btw I have a cdrking hdmi 1.4 cable. Thanks a lot.
-
ok tried my lg player and the 3d worked na. I think its the cdrking hdmi cable.

Haha! Di nakatiis! Congrats bro!
If you are already fixated on a purchase, whatever others would say won't matter much. You tend to be selective on the positive ones to affirm your purchase and somehow your brain blocks the negative ones. I'm also talking from experience. O0 Enjoy your PJ!

the screen one uses can also be a limiting factor. I measured the diagonal length of the projected image when I'm watching in 16:9 using my 70"x70" tripod screen. it turns out, I'm only getting a 72" diagonal image in 16:9 aspect ratio! I can get a 100+" image when I project to my white wall. but then again, my room's wall isn't optimized for projected images. :P

where is this avaialble? its says sa previous page Villman lang? meron bang readily available ito na store?

sa Villman at Acer concept stores. by order ang H6510BD. you need to call the branch where you plan to buy and order it beforehand.

For sure mas lalo mong maeenjoy yang Acer PJ mo...
-
Tama yun @Elmer.
I just purchased and installed last weekend a 120" motorized screen from sir pekspert. Bitin kse yun free na screen! :o
sulit na sulit. now, watching 3D in a 120" screen, 13feet away is a BLAST! ;D
watching movies is also awesome. parang gusto ko ulitin all of my 5TB worth of movies. hehehe

Hi guys, sorry for being so kulit ;D, first time owner eh ;D. How do you adjust the picture of this Acer to fit the screen? I bought some shelves sa ace hardware. I just placed this projector on a shelf on the wall behind my bed. Is there like a picture adjust of right, left, up, down? or just the keystone? I tried using the bolt adjustment of the projector on the rear right to lower it but to no avail (hirap pa rin). Pati keystone ayaw eh. Do I have to move the projector mismo to fit the screen? Mahirap ba placing a projector sa shelf (for position wise). I might have to redo the shelf and move it lower. If not, do you guys suggest to just buy a ceiling mount where I can adjust the projector few degrees? Thanks so much.
-
Bro moks wala kasi lense shift yung pj. Mano mano talaga yan :)
-
Moks007-- wala bang zoom yung Acer? Try to estimate the size of the image that will fit your screen via zoom then adjust accordingly. As what I know ceiling mounts are more flexible than just placing the PJ in a rack.

Hi guys, ok thanks so much for the help. Doc Mel, meron zoom, Pero looks like nga I have to buy pa a shelf and just move the pj downwards. I will also look into the ceiling mounts.
-
Bro moks have a pro install it. Medyo mahirap i center yan using mounts kasi the lense is on the side
-
Does your PJ screen have black borders? This will cover for small projected image overshoots from the screen aside from having an improved contrast. What's your source pala?

Kung OC kelangan talaga professional. Akin carpentero lang and ceiling mount. But...my PJ has lens shift kaya mas madali.

I'll also try the RS-MaxxMudd V.2 Mix once the materials arrive.
bro,
kumusta ang silverfire v.2 with orig materials from US?

It will take several days sa customs. I'll update once i have the paints. For item 3, you can use any pure white-flat base paint but make sure na water base ung paint. Also for item 4, meron locally available satin finish nabibili sa ace hardware ung neutral (clear satin). i think the gain for SF is 1.4

baka kalahati lang magamit sa mga binili mo'ng pintura sa amazon. if you have remnants and have no use, i'm willing to buy them as long as it is enough to paint a 120" screen.
i want to try out the RS-MaxxMudd Standard as what MM recommends in my setup.

ok sir, ung rustoleum metallic pearl nasa 32 ounces ung bote. ill use maybe 12 ounces, but for the liquitex basics since maliliit na tubes lng un in 8 ounces talagang mauubos ko un for 92" screen.

Has anyone mounted this projector to the ceiling? I'm looking at the unit and I can only see one slot where a screw can fit. Am I missing something here? Di ba pwede i ceiling mount to?

I wouldn't take the risk. Ganyan din yun Optoma ko. Instead of depending on a single very small screw, i strapped it using thick and long nylon ties sa isang wood/plywood (painted to match your PJ/interior). I mounted it upside down then screwed the plywood on the PJ bracket supporting fingers. If you have a strong sub or your sub causes your wooden ceiling to move, you may also want to make your ceiling sturdier by adding braces sa kisame near and where your PJ is bolted.

Getting so addicted to this bang for the buck pj. ;D. Very nice pq for me, pero parang I'm getting some eye strain. ;D and headache. ;D Sitting 9 feet away and 100 inch screen, pero the actual pic is just around 80 to 90 ata. I want to move the screen further back but my led tv is on the way.
Btw, anxiety question lang ito hehe.. Masama ba to have the projector just beside my head? I placed it on top of my bed kasi. Meron ba health hazard yan? You don't know these days hehe..I don't feel a lot of heat naman. If it is hazardous, I might just mount it. Thanks

how close exactly?
-
Hi Sir, ya I will observe for a couple more weeks if this eye strain/headache continues. I think I'm just really not used to watching movies in total darkness. That is why I always choose lcd/led and not plasma hehe. Actually, I can move the screen back a few inches pero I have a led tv behind the screen. Behind the tv kasi are windows and usually when it rains big time or windy meron a little moisture on the wall and I'm also scared water is splashing in. I'm thinking of buying yun tv stand where you can hang the tv. That will move my tv back a little and I can adjust the pj screen back a little more. Yun nga problem is the window, so I'm thinking of closing out the window by putting plywood or something outside (condo kasi ako).
The pj is just less than a feet away from my head if I sit on my bed's backboard. It is just beside my head. I'm actually not bothered by the noise or heat. Actually I don't feel any. Although I can hit my head (esp my daughter) if I'm not careful kasi naka shelf siya. Yun anxiety hehe..ko lang is more of, masama ba ito sa head ko in the long term, bec of constant exposure to the pj this close. I remember kasi my mom during the 1970's always telling me not to sit too close to the tv bec the rays/radiation are bad hahaha..Medyo weird lang ako dito hehe..Pasensya na, nakakahiya na tanong hehehe..Kasi talaga katabi ng ulo ko yun pj. ;D
I found this sa internet hehe... ;D
Putting Television Radiation in Perspective
Man cannot escape exposure to some radiation. We are surrounded by natural radioactivity in the earth and by cosmic rays from outer space. This is called background radiation and cannot be controlled. We are also exposed to manmade radiation, which can and must be controlled.
Much of the manmade radiation people are exposed to comes from electronic products. These include diagnostic x-ray machines, television sets, microwave ovens, radar devices, and lasers. In some cases, as with diagnostic x-rays, radiation emitted from these devices is intentional and serves a useful purpose. In others, as with TV sets, radiation emitted is not intentional and is not essential to the use of the product.
Do TV Sets Give Off X-Rays?
X-rays may be produced when electrons, accelerated by high voltage, strike an obstacle while traveling in a vacuum, as in a TV containing a cathode ray tube (CRT). Since many of the components in television sets operate at thousands of volts, there is the potential for x-ray generation. These components may produce x-rays capable of escaping from the television receiver or CRT. This unintentional emission of x-radiation can pose a potential hazard and must be controlled.
Is the TV Radiation a Hazard?
Scientists have not identified specific health effects resulting from exposure to extremely low doses of low-level radiation over prolonged periods of time. However, the current assumption is that there is no threshold of exposure below which x-radiation may not adversely effect human health. It is advisable, therefore, that x-radiation from TV sets, as well as other commonly used electronic products, be kept as low as reasonably achievable. It was for this purpose that Congress enacted the Radiation Control for Health and Safety Act of 1968 (currently called Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act – Subchapter C – Electronic Product Radiation Control).
It should be emphasized that most TV sets have not been found to give off any measurable level of radiation, and there is no evidence that radiation from TV sets has resulted in human injury.
How Safe Are TV Sets Today?
X-radiation emissions from properly operated TV sets and computer monitors containing CRTs are well controlled and do not present a public health hazard. The FDA standard, and today’s technology, such as electronic hold-down safety circuits and regulated power supplies, have effectively eliminated the risk of x-radiation from these products. FDA has not found TVs that violate the standard under normal (home) use conditions.
It is important to note also that flat panel TVs incorporating Liquid Crystal Displays (LCD) or Plasma displays are not capable of emitting x-radiation. As such these products and are not subject to the FDA standard and do not pose a public health hazard.

One thing I've noticed with this Pj is that it renders sharp images better than my Epson. Very evident when I was reading text using my HTPC as source. I thought for awhile it was an LCD pj.

Dumating ung pintura binili ko from Amazon just this weekend, I was able to replicate the AVSforum's Silver fire V2. After applying the mix to the plywood, i immediately tested it on the HD6510 after only 4 coats. Result was A-W-E-S-O-M-E, the paint could literally produce vivid colors even when there's ambient light. I was too tired painting I did not bother to close the windows (8 panes of french windows) and theres some 3PM afternoon sunlight entering the windows.Night time was even more surprising (night and day difference ung luma ko na DIY paint screen). I noticed this is very high gain screen.
The only drawback sa paint mix na to is very sensitive sya sa contour ng plywood surface, even with several previous paint jobs on my screen and may masilya and slight sanding i could still notice the grainy texture of the plywood surface which I dont see on my previous DIY screen paints. This paint REALLY requires baby-butt smooth surface. ill rework this weekend with more masilya and sanding before repainting.

Sure sir, i'll have to rework first my screen next weekend.
-
Getting so addicted to this bang for the buck pj. . Very nice pq for me, pero parang I'm getting some eye strain. and headache.

Yeah. Or MDF. Very very smooth ang surface ng MDF!
-
Yeah. Or MDF. Very very smooth ang surface ng MDF!
Ok, I'll consider both Sir. Aside from very smooth surface, the SFv.2 also requires a white underpaint to achieve "white fusion" baka may hardiflex o MDF na white surface na. I'm also considering renting a spray paint gun or something to achieve best results.
Ang laki pala impact ng good screen (DIY man o branded) sa projection quality, it will improve by light years the PQ of my Acer PJ.

di pala spray ang ginamit mo sir? tama mag rent ka nga kasi both roller and brush can't beat spray. para makatipid, daanin mo sa multiple coats ng ordinary base white paint para isang pasada lang ng SF solve na. oil o water base ba yan? so dapat ang gamitin mong base paint match sa SF. sorry di ako naka back read hehehe...
good luck! ;)
teka teka naalala ko lang, pwede kaya yung flat white (textured) formica na lang glued on plywood para sure na walang deformities? madali lang din i-'rugby' yun. just my 2 cents. ;)
-
Roller lang gamit ko sir, pero may workaround ako for smooth paint results, i added more water and apply very very thin multiple coatings para maganda texture ng paint job. But nothing beats spray painting, this PJ deserved the best paint application.
Dati, I used water-based putty flat white to smoothen the plywood surface, it seemed its not good enough for SFv2. I'll check out the MDF or hardiflex this weekend, masakit sa likod ung sanding and applying putty.

Actually, may MDF na laminated na. I think plastic yun laminate nila but it's really very smooth.
And you have a very good idea. Question lang is, will your paint adhere to plastic...?
-
I made it more darker to improve black levels the way I liked it, more plasma-like. The white level was not much affected because of white underpaint (white fusion) and because it's metallic (several millions of very very tiny sparkling crystall-like substance) the white light shines more brightly when it hits the crystall substance making it looked whiter.
I'll post photos of the Silverfire V.2 in action with the Acer HD6510, I'll borrow an SLR to get better images. Nagmumukhang hi-end ung Acer PJ ko..

fellow H6510BD owners,
have you experienced sudden shutdowns of your projector? I've experienced it a couple of times. my projector suddenly shuts down after a certain number of minutes running. plano ko nang dalhin to sa Acer service center sa MegaMall this week for warranty claim. :-\

we'll find out soon. I keep my projector in its carrying bag when not in use. I don't know if dust can still get in and clog the vents.

So dust problems are eliminated. Probably faulty PSU.

Sir sorry to hear that, so far I haven't experienced this. I just bought this and used it several times. Keep us updated.

hmm..hassle din mga projectors pag ganun. Paano pa kung naka mount? I guess it has its pluses and minuses

yes, right now I have it behind my bed on a shelf. I'm actually thinking of mounting it bec. I want to get it closer to my screen kasi I want it to fill up my 100 inch screen. Parang kasi sa layo ngayon I'm effectively only getting around 80 plus inches. I only zoom it to 1.2 right now. For me, Pangit kung sobrang zoom. I cover my pj with a cloth if not in use. Parang nag dalawang isip ako tuloy to mount it or not because of the dirt nga.
-
Di kaya iris problem din yan same as no.1 problem ng pana ax100&200? :(
-
Is the duration of the shutdown consistent?

good day!
may nakapag mount na ba sa ceiling ng PJ na eto.pa post sana ng distance and screen. plan ko kasi eto nalang kunin ko na pj for my HT soon :)
thanks

pa-iba-iba. minsan matagal ko cyang nagagamit before shutdown, minsan a few minutes lang, shutdown na.

Never experience my PJ shutting down all by itself, 300+ hours used na. Wag naman sana. Baka isolated incident lang un.

Malamang PSU yan. Most electronics ganyan symptom ng PSU problem. Buti may warranty pa, claim mo na agad.
Yung TV ko sudden shutdown problem din, na-solve naman after putting a fan to cool the psu area.

i mounted mine sir using a Sabre mount. projector distance is 12.5 feet for 120inch screen, viewing distance is about 13 feet.
may mga projector mount na available sa ACE hardware, you might want to try those. Parang mas bagay sya kesa sa Sabre.
hope this helps.

Nice shots rulesmeister!!! Maganda nga ang screen mixture mo for the H6510BD!!! Mukhang walang hotspots talaga. Kamusta siya sa dark scenes?
The best sir!, ung camera kc tends to "adjust" the image brightness kaya ndi gaano "black" ung black. Evidence is the black borders below the 'sports illustrated' photo. Parang dark grey lang ung black border ng screen ko where in fact ung ginamit ko is lamp black paint for the borders (blackest paint available).
Also ung PJ may setting na "dynamic black" which is a feature ng dark chip 3 TI chip.
Sample for HD6510 & SFv.2 black level. Below photo now resembles the black level that I see on this PJ, I made adjustments on the camera settings.

just an update regarding my warranty claim:
Acer MegaMall just texted me. they said that my unit is for delivery back to MegaMall from their Paco main service center. they will text me again when they receive my unit. if it can be picked up soon, I'll probably get it back this Sunday. hopefully I won't need to spend a thing. ;)

Hi guys,
Is anyone projecting this on a 10feet viewing distance. What's the screen size that you got? And hindi ba sobra ang hot-spot since malapit?
Thanks

I'm getting a 70-72" diagonal image (16:9 ratio) on the free 70x70 1:1 tripod screen. I'm not sure how far my viewing distance is. 10-12 feet ata.

Hi bro, mine is around 9 feet away, i measured the picture at 1.2 zoom, its 77x34 inches ata. Imo the 1.2 zoom look the best sa 2.40:1 movies. Pag masyado zoom ang pangit. Pero I will try measuring it again later. Btw, yun 77x34, Is this close to 90 inches diagonal? On the manual kasi it says 200cm x 113cm is 90 inches diagonal. confirm ko ulit later. Im trying to get the full 100 inches, hindi puede pala at my distance. This is not a short throw pj pala. Pag zoom ko ng 1.2 i cant read the subtitles properly on orig bd player/disc. Ganun ba talaga? Am i doing something wrong here kasi i want to maximize the screen size. Ty.

if u wont mind sir, at 9ft, ano ang MAX and MINIMUM screen u'll get using the zoom? e compare ko lang s ACER 5360 ko, na i can only get 68' full zoom at 8ft(?).

ito sa acer mismo

I got text from Acer MegaMall yesterday evening. my projector is ready for pickup na! :D

looking at the projector central calculator kse, my worry is off na sya sa "green zone". so im worried if it will be "too bright". :P

Di naman. Mas-bright pa din ang mga LED-TVs. Hot spot ang major concern sa PJs pero for my untrained eye, wala naman akong nakita so I'd like to keep it that way. :D

Finally found a cons for this projector.

Im using htpc.

Ok sir sure, I'm out of town now, will do it on Sunday. Last night I tested it and the best zoom for me from 9 feet away is 1.2 up to 1.4x. Sa 1.4 I'm losing details na. Pq really suffering. Pero Sa 1.4x I think nasa 90 inch diagonal

Not possible sir, ung PJ ko kc nakaceiling mount na, madali tanggalin pero mahirap e-set up pabalik sa mount since walang lens shift.

I got my pj back. they claim that they checked it and no issues were found and it was working stable. I used it last night to watch F1, no sudden shutdowns encountered. :)

I got my pj back. they claim that they checked it and no issues were found and it was working stable. I used it last night to watch F1, no sudden shutdowns encountered. :)
di naman siguro sa "dumi" ng meralco?

di naman siguro sa "dumi" ng meralco?
maybe. I guess I have to pick a good power socket and use a surge protector/ line conditioner with my pj.
-
Thanks for the reply sir.
I mean yung wall lang po as painted with silver fire V.2 kung ano hitsura when the paint dries.
Light gray po ba or medyo dark ng konti?
Pwede naman directly mo e-paint ung SF sa wall as long as very smooth ung wall texture, sa AVSforum some members were already doing direct wall painting using SFv2.5
Light gray ung sakin. You could do darker versions but you need to add more reflective base paints (rustoleum & silver) para ung whites nya hindi affected and the screen gain is maintained.

Why not use a UPS with built in conditioning circuit?

;D but I might bring back my iMaster UPS to active duty for my pj. ;)

Dalawahin ang UPS!!!
Wala bang topic dito re UPS? I have some issues kasi.
We all know for a fact that we only use UPS for our PJ because in the event na mawalan ng electricity, we still have time to turn off our PJ. But question is, kung yun switching time ba ng UPS from outlet to back-up is enough para hindi mag-off yun PJ? Kasi kapag mabagal ito, it's good as walang silbi ang UPS natin for our PJ. Have you tried unplugging your UPS while using it to test if it can handle the switching effectively?

Tested it by unplugging, more than enough time to shut it down IIRC 10 minutes bago ko shut down yung PJ. :)

using an APC UPS dun sa kabebenta ko lang na PJ and there were several times na nag brown out and the UPS served its purpose. Namatay yung ibang gears except for the PJ. Yun lang after mga 2 years you should start checking kasi baka yung back-up battery needs replacement na and not functioning as desired. What I do is plug a different non-sensitive gear to test. Iba din kasi to test if mayron equivalent load yung UPS.
Planning to get one for the office?

tinkyow! ;)

Medjo kailangan ibaba ang height ng PJ na ito (compared to your drawing) if you don't want to use the keystone. I cannot give you an accurate answer pero based on my guesstimate, it should be between 50-60 incehes based on your drawing. I may be wrong.

Tinkyow kuya Nelson ;)

Great picture, great pj!

Thanks.

I see. You can use nylon straps instead of buying a new PH ceiling mount. Even with the screws in proper place, i would still recommend the use of nylon straps to secure the PJ. I think small copper inserts lang ang gamit nila.

Mga sir kakapalan ko na mukha ko...balak ko pong kumuha nito sa march 28...baka pwedeh may mag pa audition ng unit nila... just want to make sure i'm not on of those person who can see the rainbow effect... papaburger na lang ako.... taga marikina po ako... pero basta asa ncr pwede ko pong dalawin... salamat.
-
acer PJ user ako before and I still prefer DLP PJ over 3LCD... tingin ko makikita mo pa din ang rainbow effect lalo na sa black&white scenes, mga end credits etc, at lalo na pag hinahanap mo. ;)
-

Here from instructions, choose instant resume
Turning Off the Projector
1 To turn the projector off, press the power button. This message appears:
"Please press power button again to complete the shutdown process" Press the power button again.
2 The LED Power indicator will turn solid red to indicate standby mode.
3 It is now safe to unplug the power cord.
When Instant Resume is selected:
1 The LED Power indicator will turn RED and blink rapidly after the projector is turned off, and the fan(s) will continue to operate for about 2 minutes to ensure that the system cools properly.
2 As long as the power cord remains plugged in, you can press the power button to turn the projector immediately back on anytime during the 2-minute shutdown process.
3 Once the system has finished cooling, the LED Power indicator will stop blinking and turn solid red to indicate standby mode.
4 It is now safe to unplug the power cord.
-
Sa akin naka-instant resume as default. I like it better because it cools the lamp properly before turing it off.

Parang ganun nga na first time mo magka-PJ. In my case, this is my 2nd PJ. Coming from my old PJ, malaking difference. Pero when i compare my our PJ sa ibang higher specs brand, ang kinaganda ng higher specs is it has better control over the contrast and brightness vs color. Yun sa atin, kailangan itaas ang brightness para makita natin ang details, at the expense of masyadong maliwanag ang white natin, which affects the balance of colors. Palagay ko it has something to do with better panels ang higher specs.

But of course pwede na for it's price per performance. Especially when you compare it with PJs 2 years ago sa same price range.

looks good

Add me to the club =) question lang po... parang medyo mainit masyado ung unit.... parang may amoy sunog pag inamoy mo ung binubugang hangin pero wala naman issue.... ganun po ba ung mga unit nyo?

For simple calibration just use the Disney wow calibration disc.

AVS HD 709 po ung ginamit kong calibration, i got a copy from a friend... ginamitan ko dn ng thx blue filter.... medyo malaki ang diference from the default settings... mas malamig na din sa mata... sa mga color naman.. kinopya ko lang ung sa projector central...

hi guys,
sorry off topic. but baka someone else here has same concern. does anyone know where to get a 3x2 HDMI switch/splitter (3 input 2 output)? my AVR is not HDMI yet, so I directly input my video signals to the TV. Since acquiring this projector, and since I have several video/content sources (media player, xbox, blu ray player), I want the images to mirror sana with my TV and projector so I dont have to keep on removing and changing the HDMI.
Started to get this dilemma when I tried playing with my Xbox using the projector kse. Ang saya mag laro with a 120 inch screen! And my kid and I tried playing those Zombie games on 3D and it was a blast! Parang katabi mo talaga yun mga zombies!
anyway, hope someone can point me where I can get that HDMI switch!
Thanks! and keep on rocking with our Acer PJ! >:D

saw this one in Ebay...

since wala ako makita na multiple input and multiple output... maybe you can use a separate HDMI switcher sa Input side? not sure kung magkaproblema sa handshaking...
*if you are planning on upgrading your AVR, consider Yammy's Aventage Series, they have the convenience of multiple HDMI In and it has already Two HDMI Out.

i cant speak directly, un s akin ay BenQ w1070, malaki talaga difference ng PQ quality ng 1070 as compared to my previous PJ n 5360. As in WOW una kong nasabi. Since d naman magkalayo ang reviews ng 1070 s 6510, so i would think na mapa WOW k rin:). no regrets in my part nag upgrade ako.
-
semi-late review/post:
I recently lent my H6510BD for an AV presentation/ film showing at my nephew's 1st birthday last April 27. the sources were a dvd of Pixar's UP and a short PowerPoint presentation played through my laptop projected to the free 70x70 tripod screen. even though neither source were Full HD, both looked really good! the birthday party was at a condominium's clubhouse function room from 10am to 4pm. the projected image still looked good even with the ambient light present at the venue. :D
thumbs up for the Acer H6510BD! ;D ;D ;D

Help po!
I bought this projector from Villman.
I get green tint and a bit of purple when I use HDMI.
I already tried 2 different HDMI cable (good known working cable). Tried on different source - PS4 (green tint) and laptop (green and bit of purple). Already tried both HDMI ports, same issue.
I tried to play around the settings, pero wala ganun pa din :( I'm not sure if I'm missing something on the settings or baka faulty yung projector? :(

Naku. It means mukang faulty nga tong projector right? Hassle. :(
Balik ko na agad bukas.
Thanks sir!

Might as well try other device na may HDMI

Nag-try na ako dalawang HDMI cable. Incluing the HDMI cable that came with the PS4.
Both issue are happening sa laptop and PS4 ko when using HDMI.
HDMI cable are working kasi pag kinabit ko sa plasma TV ko, ok naman yung color and no issue whatsoever.
Oh well. I'll buy another hdmi cable bukas umaga. :(

http://community.us.playstation.com/t5/PlayStation-4-Support/PS4-color-problems-with-Acer-H6510BD-projector/td-p/44440658
Yes. Ganyan nga yung ngyayari sakin. It looks like my projector needs a firmware upgrade. Currently I'm on 1.04. And based on what I've heard 1.05 should fix the issue.
I called acer service center, need ko iwan yung projector for about 3 days for the upgrade tapos ako pa magdadala at pick-up. Ang hassle lang! :(
Anyway, nakakapanood naman ako movie kasi yung ibang player is compatible via HDMI.
I'll just play my PS4 on my TV muna. hehe
Kayo ba, anung firmware version na kayo?
In order to check yung version, ganito yung gagawin:
1. Turn on Projector with nothing connected
2. Whe it is turned on. press Power-Left-Left-Menu sa remote control
3. It will bring up 7 numbered menu sa upper left.
4. I think sa number 3 yung firmware version.

49500 SRP at Villman/ Acer concept stores. you could get it for less via cash or straight cc payment. :)
-
Wow!!! grabe pala presyo dyan sa atin ah X2... :)
thanks Sir DTNS

I bought one unit from Amazon US last March, price is USD 575.00 or Php 25,875 na lang. Shipped it to someone there who was travelling back to PH. So basically, you can get it at half the price already. Warranty risk lang nga.
Bought it to replace my six year old Acer 5360 projector.

Sorry for the late reply. Bought it from the link below. Price already dropped to about USD 550.00. No issues so far. Eight months na. Thanks.

I think avdriver sells it. They are located in shangrila mall. I have inquired before. I think it is order basis and of course cost a little more than lets say sa amazon ka nag order.

I got mine sa Amazon for $799 last year.

Yup, a month ago it's still priced at 47,500 pesos (Cash) in Villman...

I agree with you pero baka at their point of view, masmataas ang kuha nila.

if anyone plans to get a 1080P 3D PJ on a budget, I still highly recommend getting the Acer H6510BD. BUT, get it online at Amazon http://www.amazon.com/Acer-H6510BD-Theater-Projector-White/dp/B00B97ZKIA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1445076976&sr=8-1&keywords=acer+h6510bd (http://www.amazon.com/Acer-H6510BD-Theater-Projector-White/dp/B00B97ZKIA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1445076976&sr=8-1&keywords=acer+h6510bd) instead of locally. even with shipping and taxes, the price difference is well worth it! ;)
-
wow 540 dollars is so cheap. I'm very happy and satisfied with this pj.

JAC, around 90$ of 4k plus.
Ask amazon first that you are non US resident and should not be charged with a US citizen sales tax.

Is this door to door? What about customs, taxes?

I picked it up from their makati office. took approx 10 days from the time i ordered it from amazon.
Better check the JAC website from complete instruction. Basically you send what you ordered from amazon to their JAC NY or LA office and they are the ones taking care of sending it here in the Philippines.
YOu can have it delivered to your house btw if you really want it Door to Door. I think the charge is around 300 pesos additional.
No Customs charges. Only ones that get charged extra are Laptop, phones, and tablets.
I have send several items through them with no problems. Last item i sent to the Philippines is a 1080p Acer projector too. But it is a X152H projector.
