i see what you are getting at... admittedly the digital decoder of the kebao is cheap. magaspang tunog compared to having an AVR do the decoding, although a plus for the kebao vs nextbase is that it has an onboard DTS decoder (which is also cheap  ;D)

which is why i'm still on the lookout for an affordable receiver with pre-outs  :)

That's the way to fly, brother!

ako rin!  that's what i'll do.  got the idea from jofkevski.  an integrated amp with direct power/main-inputs solves the mixed HT/audio setup.

joan2, need your help.. sent you pm!

the power of murphy's law demostrated once more....i wonder who else got bitten....
i have had extensive experience in repairs of these amps, i have builtseveral power amps over the years, i can do repairs or you or i can look at your amps and tell you what you can do if you are interested in tweaking the insides o your amps,to me this is more challengin than to debate over cables and inter-conects, an i assure you that this is not as expensive.....

hi Sir,

tagal na ako interested sa gainclones nyo, lalo na ngayon that you can also repair/tweak amps

how do i get in touch with you?

thanks!

jofkevski ,
if you are planning that route, i suggest that you use the same model power amps, reason is that with the same amps, the gain of the amps will be identical, so that balancing will be easier than using dissimilar ones...just my 2 cents...

Nice baby again akyat. You are indeed a patient hunter.

I hope this amp will not suffer the same fate as the hybrids hehehe ;).

Congrats.

congrats akyat!

bagong luma yan ah! yes, after the mid 80's sinubukan ulit ng Sansui bumawi. that time sa Japan nalang kasi ang market nila kaya gumanda ulit yung parts ng Sansui mo.

tungkol naman sa amp ko eh, ayos naman siya. sounds natural when i'm playing my marching band lp's. 150Watts is all i need. 1o o'clock high eh malakas na.

mabait yung mga manong tsaka si mommy. may kalawang na yung cover niya eh pero pina-repaint nila and it's 4 free ;)  3 months free service warranty

next time siguro eh speakers naman:)

This is indeed challenging. am considering getting an inexpensive HT receiver (like Sakura or Konzert) and tweak it to the max.  My idea of tweak is parts replacement.  Care to share what things to look at and replace?

i found another gem at the pier when i bought the sansui, pero defer ko lang muna pag post ng info, pinagiisipan ko pa kung kukunin as a replacement for one of my amps.  di ako maka-decide if i should sell one of them to get this new one.  we demo'd it and it sounded awesome.

thanks bullet.  sana nga magtagal yang sansui.  mahirap magkaroon ng "magic touch", yun bang lahat hawakan ay nasisira.  ;D  ;D

fakelondongenius, thanks & congrats din sa amp mo.  ako din speaker ang susunod.  actually may nahanap na ako pero di ko pa binibili.. having 2nd thoughts about the size, para kasing refrigerator na maliit hehe.

sir joan2, sent you email... HELP!

Thanks for the reminder. This is the reason why I have to tag 2 identical integrateds (which can function as a separte) to buy in pier - to maintain gain and amp signature on sound.

yes, that is why gainclones are becoming popular, you can rig up a five channel amp on the same chassis....

any amplifier for that matter can be tweaked this way:
1. electrolytic caps in the signal path can be replaced by teflon, polypropylene or polycarbonate caps, in that order, mylars(polyethelyne) are a no-no.
2. bypass electrolylitic caps may can be shunted by films as i have mentioned in 1.
3. mica/creamic caps can be replaced with polystyrene caps..
4. caps used in the power supply can be made bigger, ie, a 4700uf changed to 10000, lower esr can be achieved by parralelling smaller caps than by just a single big cap. these caps can also be shunted by caps i mentioned in 1
5. the power transformer can be changed to one with a higher va rating, but of the same voltages..
6. power supply rectifiers can be changed to fast rectifiers or even schottky ones....
these are just starters, there are more....

those owning units with 100volts ac, this is the opportunity to change your transformers to higher va rating and with 220volts primary....

i can assure you, tweaking amps is just as exciting as cbles and interconnects, if not more. so if you find an amp which you value much and would like to keep for a long time, then this one is for you....

Then I will keep my Yamaha RX-V630 and will use its pre-out (L, R, surrounds no center). 8.1 are all my surrounds.

TIA

subwoofers with cut-off frequency below 120 hz is non-directional, kung hinde kalakihan ang listening room mo, you can do with just one, placement is also non-critical, you can make a center table out of your sub-woofer...subwoofers require a lot more power than mid and highs, so you can bridge one amp to make it a subwoofer amp and another amp for the mid/highs...be sure to get identical amps to get your balancing easy and avoid guesswork....
