Looking at buying a digital audio player. Budget is 5-10K. Right now I'm reaearching on these models:
Cayin N3 and Fiio X3 2nd generation.
Any suggestion would be appreciated.

may bluetooth o wifi na ba yung Fiio X3 2nd gen sir? i think better to get a DAP with wireless connectivity na para you can stream music from spotify, deezer, tidal or other online music providers.
i have the Fiio x5 2nd gen, ok naman but i want now yung may wireless connectivity.
-
Meron na bluetooth yung fiio x3 but wala pa wifi.
-
i see, ok pala kung meron na BT yung x3.
-
I have the X1 1st gen, so far it has been serving me well. I read the latest X3 has a lot of good user feedback.
-
I'm sorely tempted to get the Fiio X5 (red version), though I find the price to be a bit too high. It's available at 6 months installment via Egghead, but at SRP i think.

Ever since my iPod Video's hard drive conked out I've been looking around for a DAP to replace it's role. But since portability is not a priority for me I'm torn between a new DAP or a pi + touchscreen + volumio setup as a digital source.

Check out xduoo x10 at that price point.

This I never experienced ;D

Did a comparison between AK240ss & a stock IPOD Classic, for me the IPOD ROCKS!

iPod classic & touch din. Only gripe sa Classic walang bluetooth & “low tech” compared sa new toys. Pero sa sq ok naman for me.

Hehehe Oo nga very Stone-Age yung IPODs, yung Touch could it stream like Spotify? coz AK only does TIDAL.

That's what happened to my iPod Classic, it's more often a hard drive problem.
With the cost of a replacement hd, or those converter+ssd option, or converter+micro sd option, it is unfortunately a wiser decision (imho) to not bring it back to life anymore. :(

So true. Plus, with so many viable, if not far better options, its time to retire the archaic iPod.
Get something that can play flac and dsd as well and see (hear) the big difference.

Thanks for the inputs. I'm thinking if the ipod hdd can be replaced with a flash one, that means we can then maybe format the old harddrive via a sata to usb and this (http://www.lazada.com.ph/18inch-lif-to-25inch-sata-24pin-zif-to-22pin-sata-converter-adapter-card-intl-54674372.html?spm=a2o4l.search.0.0.4e45b4a7NWz1tN&ff=1&time=1511680800) on the computer. plug it back into the ipod, then hopefully itunes will let us revert it to the original format.
Anyway, I'm also thinking about the fiio's with BT, but the cost of adding a 128GB flash drive expansion just inhibits me from going out to buy one. :-\

yung ipod classic ko, i use a bluetooth adapter that you plug dun sa 30 pin port
for digital streaming, i use a Raspberry Pi loaded with Volumio, tapos DAC then output to SMSL. Volumio is ok kasi it allows me to access Spotify and music files from my NAS. Tapos it allows din for airplay streaming...
