Yeah, it seems they were right not to trade him after all. Now if only they can get Butler back for Kwame. ;DHehehe, you win some, you lose some. But with their line-up, for me, Im set. Player development, maturity and experience will get them far, and will be contenders, if not now, but soon.
so possible na to have an La-Boston title series again just like in the 80's?8) sana......
LAkers started strong, too, last season but injuries made the cookie crumble. I hope the same doesn't happen this season. Fisher's been a great add-on, as well as the Ariza trade. Bynum's improvement is helping El-Ay a lot coz now they have an inside presence on both ends of the floor. I think he leads the league in FG% (62% ata) and is averaging more than 2 blocks a game.
With Kobe not having to worry about the scoring, he can now concentrate on defense (of course, scoring is an afterthought with Kobe). Kwame's a decent back-up for Bynum as he's probably the LAkers' best low post defender (just have to live with his inability to hold on to the ball). I was hoping that Mihm would stay helathy coz that would give the LAkers a trio of big men who can play D.
Farmar's game has improved and he's showing fans why the team was high on him when they drafted him out of UCLA. I feel for Javaris Crittenton coz he's got a lot of talent, but Phil just won't play rookies. Vujacic now has confidence with his shooting, which is what the LAkers need when they have to kick out when they post Bynum or Lamar. Radmanovich has been pretty much inconsistent, but I think injury to a shooter's hand can be the worst type of injury when a team expects you to provide outside firepower.
Luke and Lamar looks like they're coasting and sometimes, I feel like I'd rather see Ariza start than Luke coz Ariza can flat out play D and is very athletic to boot.
*sigh* A Boston-LA Finals match up is premature and wishful thinking at thiis point; but hell, with the way the LAkers (and how about them Blazers, huh?!) are playing, it looks like they have a shot at the Western Conference Finals. Go El-Ay!!! ;D
could a good soul please post tv skeds or where such skeds can be viewed. thanks!
my Heat sucks this year :(
Riley mortgaged the Heat's future but got a ring as a result. Now they are feeling the effects of those trades.yeah, I agree. Quite a rebuilding to do now...
btv schedule http://www.btv.com.ph/btv_grid.pdf (http://www.btv.com.ph/btv_grid.pdf)
espnstar schedule (ill post it later)
yeah, I agree. Quite a rebuilding to do now...
as for miami, yes 2006 ring is a product of a "win now" game plan but they are still contending if not for the injuries (shaq's hip, ZO's knee, wright's jwill's ankles and wade's whole body) that plague the team...
oh well might as well tank the season and get lucky with pingpong balls
Share nyo pa ibang observations nyo (wag na muna Lakers hehehe) about what's happening in the NBA.
If Webber badly wanted to play for Detroit, he would've been with them right from the start of the season. I think he's really choosing his options as he wants to piggy-back for his sought-after championship. Chances are, he'll try his luck with the Celtics.
^ Just read about that injury to Ariza too. If it's a broken foot/toe, that will probably take a long time to heal. :'( I hope LA can still salvage some momentum... I also read somewhere that they will probably settle for Mbenga to patch up their frontcourt. All I know is that he is a 7-footer with big ears.. Great.they just signed up Mbenga. At least they won vs Denver. 2-1 of 26.
looking at the other side of the coin what does, Kwame Brown, Stromile Swift and Darko Milicic have in common?its a fire sale in Memphis......
1st and 2nd Overall Picks gone Busts
well i for one can't wait for a lakers-celtics finals againGetting Gasol means they dont have to hasten the return of Bynum. But im also anticiapating how will the twin tower line-up will play out in the Laker tri-offense.
but i also can't wait to hear the final news on bynum. ric bucher of espn indicates he may be out...for the season. wag naman sana.
twin towers?how do the Spurs counter the three towers?
with odom now able to slide to the 3 (a more natural position for him i think) make that three towers!
hehe, parang LA thread nato ;D ;D ;D
I don't think The Logo's running the Girzz anymore, but I think the youth rebuilding is all set with Rudy Gay leading them and Javaris ready to show what he's got with (I'm assumimng) increasede PT at Memphis.
That's right...this was a Chris Wallace move and not Jerry West.
Hope Bynum rumor isn't true (about him being out for the season, i mean).
o sige let's talk about another team naman.
memphis.
kwame brown and darko milicic are now on the same team ;D
Now they only need to unretire Michael Olowakandi. :Dsama nyo si stromile swift dyan...hehehe, just like Darko, 2nd overall pick na bust...
Now they only need to unretire Michael Olowakandi. :D
LA Lakers have Gasol!!!! ::)
As per ESPN, there are talks of Phoenix and Miami swapping Shawn Marion for Shaq.If the Suns get Shaq, what happens to their run and gun offense? I think it will slow down a bit, and they feel that Shaq can give them an inside presence in the half court set, offense and defense. Teams have been killing them inside, and the Laker's trade for Pau surely made them consider this move heavily. Barring any injuries, Shaq might ressurect a declining game a bit with the presence of Nash. I think they're feeling that their window for a Championship is fast closing. Id welcome the move, a LA-PHX game would surely be great to watch. ;D ;D On the other end, Miami would surely be a flyer team now....with Marion joining the acrobatic Wade.
A healthy Shaq will no doubt boost Phoenix, but I somehow doubt Shaq's knees would last the wear and tear of Phoenix' up-tempo game. I would love for this trade to happen coz, while I hate the Suns, I'd love to see what Shaq can provide for a team in desperate need of frontline help.
Makes the LAkers-Suns games something to look forward to. ;D
Over in Memphis, cake insurance rose to 4%. ;D ;D
Its official: Shag back in the Pacific...traded to the Suns!!!! ;D ;D
note: pending on a physical test.
heat must be laughing their guts out. what a dumb move by the phoenix gmThat would be Steve Kerr ;D ;D ;D He wants to reunite the '96 East All-Stars (Shaq and Hill) :D :D
just got a glimpse of basketball in HD. im salivating and cant wait for us to have HD broadcast.
here's the HD highlights of Pau Gasol's debut as a Laker, indicator on how he fit in the Triangle offense.
download the file, copy in a USB flash, and play it thru PS3 or your divx player in your HDTV.

great stuff!!!
That would be Steve Kerr ;D ;D ;D He wants to reunite the '96 East All-Stars (Shaq and Hill) :D :D
Heat can now rebuild around Wade and Marion ;D ;D
I do have a gut feeling that Shaq will give his all to help Phoenix and stick it one last time to Kobe and Buss. ;D ;D The Suns felt that they wouldnt win the West anyway if they keep the same roster.
I think it's gonna be a done deal (Shaq to Phoenix) coz the Suns are friggin desperate to plug their main weakness and they are really hoping Shaq will take this as a challenge and miraculously keep pace with the Suns offense. They (and I think everyone) panicked when the LAkers got another big to go along with their already-tall frontline.
Phoenix vs El-Ay in the playoffs would make Stern cream his pants. ;D
It looks like a stupid move from the Suns and it probably is. From the PHX POV, Kerr did this because he knows that PHX will have to get past the Spurs if it wants to get to the finals. They need someone to match up agains Timmy. Obviously wit this major move, the Suns want to win a championship NOW -- not next year, no next next year. Kerr's gambit may be good for the short term but definitely not for the medium-long term.
If I were the PHX GM, I would keep Marion.
Oh, and the LAkers lost to Atlanta 98-95. :'(
Kerr must be using Riley's tactics in Miami...Riley also gambled the team's future though he did win a ring. And look at Miami now.Yes. For a franchise that has never won a NBA title, even if they mortgaged their future, yes, the Phoenix faithful would embraced it. At worst, if the trade is a failure, they will fall into mediocrity. Still a good gamble. The bad thing is, we will never know if they had won had they stayed with Marion. ;)
Is it really worth years of losing to win that one title compared to consistently winning but never getting the top prize? Kerr seems to think so.

The Diesel, lazy and fat as he is........
We know what the Suns ended up when they stuck with Marion. As far as the Conference Finals. After the Lakers lost, they are still just 2 and a half away from the West lead. Thats how tight is the race in the West.
I don't think that will change this year esepcially how they are having problems not only on the court but in the locker room.
For the columnists to pick up something like that (locker room problems) it means it's more than guys like Grant Hill and Steve Nash can handle. Those 2 guys are (as what they call it) good locker room players.
I'm not saying the Suns will suddenly walk over the West into the Finals...they're not going to -- with the Lakers, Spurs and Mavs in the same conference.
I think it's a good move before something really bad happens in the Suns locker room.
Still on the Suns...
Heartbreaking loss to NO this morning. The game went into 2 OTs with a possible 3rd one if not for Peja's buzzer beater over Amare for the win. The Suns suddenly look to have gotten back the life/fun they had the past couple of years. There was that bounce in the steps of the Suns especially Nash.
After Paulmissed the potential game winner in regualation the Suns were down 4 with 15 secs before they forced the 2nd OT. Barbosa for the fade away 3, after 2 free throws by Pargo, Nash got open for another uncontested 3. Last shot by Peja missed to end the 1st OT. The teams exchanged leads until the last 10 secs, with the Suns down 3. Suns miss a shot but Grant Hill keeps the ball alive and passes a rebound from the corner to Barbosa on the top of the key to tie the game again with a three. That left NO with 2 seconds left on the game clock and that's when Peja hit is game winner.
See sig to see the Black Superman....although I would not have counted that attempt as a dunk, seeing as he didn't even touch the rim.
tonedeaf,
The Heat reached the playoffs last year and was swept by the Bulls in the first round.
Shaq's Suns debut might be against the Lakers. hoping it will be televised by BTV.
Bring it on!!! ;D ;D
ABC 5 is showing that on thurs..so baka iba yun i-televise ng BTV in the morning.BTV website has a different game on their sked. Hoping they are flexible on their sked, kasi delayed yung sa ABC. Ill watch it only if the Lakers win...heheheh ;D ;D

the lal-phx game sa thursday will be aired on house of hoops sa abc 5. :)
7pm sir kung hindi ako nagkakamali. right after nung big news. :)
F*ck House of hoops on ABC. Too much talk and so little on NBA action. They show you the first half highlights, and after a very boring and long looney halftime show, they start with only a third of the third quarter left...... >:( >:( >:(
May btv pa rin b sa skycable?? ???
Yeah, very much what I was thinking when I saw that show. Reminded me of the old NBA on GMA program that Quinito Henson hosted where they show highlights of the first half then the tail end or the full 2nd Half of an NBA game. At least Quinito was bearable as an analyst unlike the House of Hoops' male host (Bobby Yan ba yun?) who seems like he gets his basketball info from Wikipedia. He inadvertently even spoiled the outcome of the game when he mentioned that the Laker fans were happy with the result. :P
just found another site where you can watch nba games online, free, and in high definition too.thanks a lot bro!!! this is a saver!! ;D ;D ;D hope the link stays alive!! all nba games live!!! ;D ;D

enjoy!
Thanks for the link too, i miss nba tv. Medyo mabagal nga lang ang internet connection ko.yep....it needs a fast connection, and a fast PC/latop too. Pero yung archived files medyo mas faster sa pag play.
too bad for the rockets...Houston, we have a problem.
time to change bookmarks:thanks!!! thanks for the update....I know this will be a routine affair.....running away from licensing hunters!!

lakers-mavs, what a game. kobe for 52, and you can see he's got his old game face back. j-kidd missed a ft that would have sent it to 2ot. at least he was on the floor at crunch time, this time.
I think they've been good on defense even before this season -- that's what Jeff Van Gundy brought to Houston.
I think the players are now more comfortable on offense since they are more free under Adelman.
And again the players (outside of T-Mac and Yao) are more consistent offensively.
Monday is a big test for this team -- it's a good measuring stick for them in terms of how they can perform in the playoffs.
9th place: denver (no offense, nuggets fans)
mvp, finals: mamba
From the Bryant family: :)
I was hoping for the Mavs to get the 8th seed. NBA awards Kobe the MVP. A first round upset, #8 defeating #1. Dirk gets his justice! Oh well, maybe on his next lifetime ;D
Any news on Bynum? IMO they can rest him until the second round. They probably won't need him against the defenseless Nuggs.
Does anyone know how will the rankings be affected with the Jazz-Spurs game? I can't believe I'm actually afraid for the Spurs to go against the Suns in the first round. They're built to destroy the Spurs, but unfortunately that's the only award they'll get this playoffs :P
HOUSTON-PHOENIX-UTAH-SAN ANTONIO (Seeds 3 to 6)
(Higher Seeded team has homecourt in first round unless otherwise indicated)
If Houston and San Antonio win:
3-San Antonio
4-Utah
5-Houston (homecourt)
6-Phoenix
If Houston, Utah and Phoenix win:
3-Utah
4-Phoenix
5-Houston (homecourt)
6-San Antonio
If Utah wins and Phoenix loses:
3-Utah
4-San Antonio
5-Houston
6-Phoenix
If San Antonio and Phoenix win and Houston loses:
3-San Antonio
4-Utah
5-Phoenix (homecourt)
6-Houston
If San Antonio wins and Houston and Phoenix lose:
3-San Antonio
4-Utah
5-Houston
6-Phoenix
If Utah and Phoenix win and Houston loses:
3-Utah
4-Phoenix
5-San Antonio
6-Houston
Best case scenario for San Antonio is Houston. Considering their recent play specifically on the offensive end, a match up against Utah or Phoenix would be a nightmare. Manu will be ready for the playoffs but they need a shooter like Barry to improve their spacing against the Jazz or the Suns. Unfortunately for them, Horry is a complete non factor because of injuries.
Looks like its gonna be like this:
3. San Antonio
4. Utah
5. Houston
6. Phoenix
*Houston will have homecourt advantage
Challenging road for the Suns
Round 1: Spurs
Round 2: Dallas (Yes, I'm underestimating the Hornets)
Round 3: Lakers
;D
Don't forget Shaq's big toe ;D
Lakers take game one and Gasol finally wins a playoff game.
Upset special......76ers just beat Pistons in game 1 of their series.

Not bad, he was my second choice. Leandro can start for other teams as well though.
For me, the sixth man should not be all-star caliber.IMHO, it shouldnt matter what caliber the player is. If I have the power to change eligibilty rules for the nominees, here are my take:
But Munskie, the sixth man can't be your team's best player. Manu has been a go-to-guy for the Spurs most of the season. All-star caliber players should be nominated for the MVP, not the sixth man award.
I admit Kukoc is all-star caliber (I should have qualified my post, my apologies). But Pippen and Rodman are too.
No one will dare to call him overrated again 8) I hope the Cavs sweep the Wiz
It all started when dallas traded steve nash ;Dactually, they didnt resign him and Nash left for free agency...

Will Soulja Boy's presence help the Wizards win one again?
A better question, will Jay-z show up for Game 4? ;D
* Does anyone really care who wins in the ORL-TOR series? :)
2-2 na Atlanta-Boston.. mas may drama pa yung East playoffs compared to the West..
Phoenix and Dallas will be licking their wounds this off-season
They mortagaged their future for two aging stars.Exactly, Shaq is already past his prime while Shawn Marion is in his prime same goes with Kidd and Harris. The only big deal trade that worked was for the Lakers.
So, Dallas just fired Avery Johnson.. it's really going to be a busy off-season for the Mavs..Its time for him to go out. Mark Cuban has invested a lot on DALLAS in thats why he impatient he want results and quick.

My prediction.....Kobe will win MVP.kobe is the more celebrated player of the two. He's a good plAYER W/ TREMENDOUS TALENT BUT HE DOESNT HAVE THE LEADERSHIP QUALITY OF cHRIS pAUL. i DONT THINK THE lAKERS WOULD HAVE GONE THIS FAR W/O THE gASOL TRADE W/C ADDS DEPTH TO THEIR TEAM AN INSIDE SCORER AND A VERSATILE BIG MAN gasol makes Bryant look better whereas at new orleans its really Paul leading the show w/ tremendous performances and it really cause the turn around for his teams success this year. I dont like chris paul but his performance has convinced me that he deserves to be MVP

Huh? No leadership qualities? Have you watched any of the Lakers game before they got Gasol?Do you think the Lakers will be at the top of the west w/o the Gasol trade? I think they land 5th or sixth in the west w/o Gasol in the line up. And pls do remember that ANDREW BYNUM was injured so w/o Gasol and that kinda tough race in the west, the LAKERS wont even stand a chance at the top. Kobe's a selfish player far from the class of JORDAN. Anyway thats just my personal opinion. U can think your way i can think my way. It doesnt really matter if the MVP goes to KOBE but my vote stays w/ CHRIS PAUL
With or without the Gasol trade, the Lakers are contenders because of Kobe. CP3 is good, but for me, David West is the key to defeating New Orleans. Shut down West and you can shut down NO.
And don't give me that sh!t about CP3 making his team mates better, West was already a double-double monster before CP3. Peja has always been a deadly shooter. And, Chandler was a defensive monster in Chicago. (Chicago really erred big time when they chosed Big Ben over Chandler).

Wow. My short statement ruffled some feathers. I didnt say who is more deserving over the other. Whoever wins, between Kobe and CP3, they both deserve it.i think i just hurt a kobe diehard here in this forum. Well thats how i see it and and thats how i will say it. Some of you may agree and some may not. Everybody's entitle to his or her own opinion right? End of discussion.
But to say that Kobe doesnt have the leadership quality of Chris Paul, now thats another matter. Here are some figures that would challenge some of your statements, particularly those underestimating Kobe and his leadership. For your information, Pau Gasol played only 26 games for the Lakers this year, and Bynum 35 games. So for you to overestimate their contributions and question Kobe's is rather unfair. Somebody has to keep the team afloat during those games when they only have Turiaf or Mbenga playing Center. And to do that while playing with an injured finger in his shooting hand requiring surgery, it say a lot of his resolve in winning games.
Kobe is playing the best team ball in his life, and is doing it in a higher echelon level only Lebron can presently reach. And he is doing it in a team whose general health is far below that Chris Paul had enjoyed.
And oh by the way, you dont have to post with some caps letters......I get your point, I just dont agree with it.
Marc Stein's MVP Ballot
"For all of Paul's undeniable brilliance -- and for all of you who can't wait to angrily dismiss this as a lifetime achievement award for the guy considered the best player to never win an MVP award -- I'm sorry. But Bryant had to deal with and do more this season than even CP3.
Bryant has seen more double- and triple-teams and junk defenses. He's endured a far lower grade of overall team health; Andrew Bynum will end up having played less than half the season and Pau Gasol has missed 11 games just since his Feb. 1 arrival in Los Angeles. Kobe has also played through a hand injury of his own that still requires surgery and is asked by his coach and teammates to be All-NBA at both ends, all while shouldering higher expectations than those of any other player in the league."
i think i just hurt a kobe dieheart here in this forum. Well thats how i see it and and thats how i will say it. Some of you may agree and some may not. Everybody's entitle to his or her own opinion right? End of discussion.Well, a long time Laker fan do have the right to discuss against shortsighted comments. And when Kobe gets MVP, at least most of the media voters, who by the way have more expert insight than us, would agree with me.
Do you think the Hornets will be in 2nd place in the Western Conference without David West? This what-if scenarios are just that, what-ifs. The Lakers have Gasol, and they won the West race. That's reality! And if Kobe doesn't win it, uh-oh... you'll know he'll try to win Finals MVP instead. This is not about who's the better player between the two, It is the overall performance of a player that is significant and deserves recognition in a yearly basis. Players no matter how good they are cant consistently win MVP every year that they play. Look at Steve Nash who would ever believe that he'll win the regular season MVP twice in a row. He was able to do that because of how he was able to make his team play better. Basketball is a team game its five versus five no great player can win it alone w/o the help of his teammates. David West is playing well becoz he plays w/in the system. His team mates specially Chris Paul open up situations for him to excell in his game this year. I doubt if he can play like that if traded to other teams. .
Let's just try this one instead, if the Lakers were to trade Kobe with CP3... I'm very positive that the Hornets with agree in a heartbeat. The Lakers on the other hand wouldn't even consider a trade of Kobe for CP3 and West.
His team mates specially Chris Paul open up situations for him to excell in his game this year. I doubt if he can play like that if traded to other teams. .

gasol makes Bryant look betterGasol was 0-12 in play-offs. With Kobe, He is now 4-0 so far. Hmmm. Maybe even Gasol will disagree.
at new orleans its really Paul leading the show w/ tremendous performances and it really cause the turn around for his teams success this yearGreat job by CP3. They improved by 17 wins versus last season. But Kobe's leading his team too. Lakers won 15 more games than their previous season.........
Kobe's a selfish player far from the class of JORDANReally. Kobe's career FGA average is 19. Jordan's is at 23. And Kobe's more selfish?
ah KOBE its either you like him or hate him he..he
Boston looks like it's becoming overconfident, as typified by that ill-advised trey attempt by Ray Allen in the closing seconds of Game 6 when they could've gone for the equalizer instead. ???
Great Bos/Atl game. Wow, Atlanta able to force a 7. Kakahiya talaga Suns ko. And felt even worse after reading Simmon's article (http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=simmons/080501).Suns tough luck lng sa draw San Antonio agad 1st round at contrapelo tlga sila. Coach Greg Popovich seems to know how to beat the Suns.
^just saw the same news being carried by latimes.
btw, is it just me, or are the major sports websites down? i've been trying to get some news on boston-atlanta, and kobe winning, and i can't get through espn, or cnnsi.
Yahoo!! Lakers 2-0 na..... ;D ;D ;D
Kobe reminds me of the after-retirement Jordan, the Lakers of the 2nd 3peat Bulls. Keep it up Lakers.

No surprises here...well deserve mythical five for this nba season
I'll take Amare Stoudemire over Dwight Howard
one game lang sked bukas.. LA vs. Utah at 9am, both at C/S and ESPN..
I'll take Amare Stoudemire over Dwight Howard
I'll Take a Defensive Minded Center AnydayWait for Greg Oden next season he'll surely be a force to reckon with.
Talo ulit Lakers....ang masakit eh, natalo na sila...puyat kapa.... ;D ;D ;D
I really hate it when Kobe (or any other player) takes 30+ shots.
As long as majority of those 30 shots are falling, I odn't mind. Those forced shots, though, they're quite an eyesore.
Boston has yet to win a road game in the playofs. I guess they're thanking their lucky charms that they've got homecourt advantage during the playoffs.
hope LA wins tomorrow... :)if LA loses tomorrow, its doom for them
As much as I like Kobe's game, I just can't believe he kept forcing it inside and out, knowing full well that he's not as mobile coz of his bad back. All those off-form threes and forced drives that looked like it wouldn't go in (and majority of it didn't or was blocked) made me wince and want to turn off the t.v. Fisher was on fire and Pau was shooting well (d**nit he missed a dunk after spinning off Okur, I think). Oh well, here's hoping that LA takes care of business at home in game 5.
I really hate it when Kobe (or any other player) takes 30+ shots.
Di ba mas ok? ;DDefinitely. Much more efficient, and within the system. I really dont care whether he took 10 or 30 shots, as long as its within the system. And I have to admit, his game 4 blunder was reminscent of his old self.
^ that was a flop. okur was manuesque on that play. ;DThat play was a huge topic of discussion, especially in truehoop. Upon closer review, it was a flop indeed. Gasol has his forearm planted on Okur back, but didnt shove. Memo flopped. The shove though came earlier in the play, normal in jockeying for position.
The Spurs tied the series 3-3. Now the Hornets' back is against the wall. It'll be one heck of a game 7. ;D
hehehe...Boozer was in disbelief...
hey munskie wala ka bang gif after gasol made that dunk.. maiyak iyak sya he..he

In the other series, Robert Horry has legitimately morphed himself from Big Shot Rob to Cheap Shot Rob. Last year he hip-checked the Suns out of the play-offs. This time, a hard screen right into David West's bad lower back may also save their season. :-[
Nakows! Horry's teammate, Bruce Lee Bowen, is the dirtiest NBA player around, so, baka nahawa lang si Horry sa kanya. I think may "Bowen's Greatest Hits" sa youtube. Grabe sa flying kick yang si Bowen and I'm shocked that the NBA hasn't done a thing to ban the guy.
This is playoffs time. Even the great Michael Jordan suffered the same faith as Nash and West. Anyone remembered how he got hit and clobbered by the Bad Boys of Detroit somes year ago during the playoffs? How he was able to live up to the challenge and surpass the agony of pain? I think West should live up to the challenge as Jordan did if they wanna go to the NBA Finals. Its gonna be very physical come game 7 of the NO vs SA
hehehe...Boozer was in disbelief...base on this gif image i can only say its part of the game that the incident happened. West was backing down and Horry was about to set a screen and it happened on the defensive end . He wasnt hit ur hacked airborne .

base on this gif image i can only say its part of the game that the incident happened. West was backing down and Horry was about to set a screen and it happened on the defensive end . He wasnt hit ur hacked airborne .It was called an offensive foul. Its an illegal screen. Horry doesnt have to hack West, cant you see, all he has to do is plant those crossed forearms right on the lower back of West. Thats like putting another set of daggers right through that already hurting back.
Re: Horry's foul
Well, I do agree with some that it was a cheap shot. It would've been nothing but a bump if West wasn't injured, right? Everything would've been brushed aside as being part of the game. Sure, it's the playoffs and everyone's got to put an extra effort into doing everything to help your team win; but it's still no excuse to intentionally hit the opposing team' injured player. Of course, the argument here is that if West was really injured, then why the heck would he risk playing and hurting his back more. It's because he wants to help his team win, which is ironic coz that's exactly what Horry wants to do.
Sure the foul may look blatantly intentional, but if you're going up against a player the size of David West, where would you place your forearm or hands on his body to stop him from moving (within the allowed rules of the NBA)? It's gotta be the back, right? Especially if the guy's about to back you down or move towards you back-first. Would it have been any more cheap if it was someone like Duncan who knocked West down? Look at the animated gif and you'll see that Horry was just going through the motions of setting a pick. It was West who came jumping to Horry with his back to the basket. If you look at it on a different perspective, you'll think that Horry was just trying to wind-up to set a screen (illegal or not).

And 1. "Then taunts the rowdy Jazz fans..."CANT STOP ME.....CANT STOP ME!!!"
Yabang no...... ;D ;D ;D If I aint a Laker fan....I would've hate him too! ;D ;D
Ill be rooting for the Celts to win. Para kung sakali makalusot ang LA sa West, it will be a match-up to watch. The dream goes on. And if it came true....more viewing parties!!!! ;D ;D
ABC is going to cover the NBA finals again, which they have done for the past several years.Puck!!! Huwag naman sana.
They show the NBA finals on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday. thats what i noticed.
Now, what is the problem with that? The Philippines and other Asian countries are not able to watch it live (at least not during weekends when you are at home). Unlike when NBC covered it they have a Friday game which allowed us to watch it on Saturday morning in our homes.
Can we write ABC to at least have a Friday game instead of Thursday, though i know this may be near impossible (suntok sa buwan ika nga). Pero, can we try. Para naman we can watch it live AT HOME not at work. :( :(.
As I remember it last year, the finals was televised live from a local channel as well as BTV. So this year most probably ganun pa rin. This time C/S will air it live. The "problem" is that the finals aired on the local channel had filipino broadcasters. BTV aired the US broadcast. I assume the same set up will still be applied.
chino trinidad and quinito henson?? >:(
I'm betting the NBA "makes it possible" for an LA-Boston Finals. David Stern is wetting his pants right now thinking of the ratings and moolah that a Celtics-LAkers retro match-up will generate. ;D
Sana nga Boston-LA sa Finals! I'm sure the Celtics and Lakers of old will be showing up in full force (like Greg Kite and A.C. Green he he). And I hope they wear retro unis during the series - kaso hanggang ngayon, retro pa rin pala ang Boston most of the time. :P
nice one sir munskie.
bring on the Celtics-Lakers finals.
ganda niyan!
i hope they have 1 game scheduled on the June9 holiday already!
i'm a laker fan, and would love a lakers-boston final. even lakers-detroit would be nice, an opportunity for payback for 2004.
if you were david stern, however, wouldn't you have nightmares of a spurs-detroit finale? can you say low ratings? ;D
That is what I like about the Spurs, many don't like them but they don't mind it for them it's all about winning. Who cares about low or high ratings sila David Stern lang naman makikinabang dun. Kaya nga nila ginawang 7 games ang first round para umpisa pa lang ng play-offs kumikita na sila. ;DThe Spurs is definitely one of the elite teams in the NBA. They're always there and if any of the western teams would like to go to the NBA finals must first get pass them just like the PISTONS in the east.
Yup ganun nga ang Spurs. They do whatever it takes to win the title. Kahit intentionally manakit ng player sa kabila. Lalo na si Bowen.
Love them or hate them they are still the champs until someone beat them. Unfortunately , because of Bowen and Horry Spurs are being tagged as a dirty team when in fact those are just role players that surround Duncan who is really the major reason why they won 4 titles.Sir may i add Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili together w/ Tim Duncan are the main reasons why the Spurs are hard to beat. I would also like to give some credits to Coach Greg Popovich for transforming the Spurs to what they are now, a tough team to beat.
Well nobody is denying the fact that sometimes he (Bowen) plays dirty but that is not the reason why they win championships. He is one of the toughest defenders there is right now in the NBA and that is what Spurs wants from him and not because those dirty stuff. Did someone tell Bulls that they won 3 titles because of Rodman's dirty tactics? ;D No, because you know who really is the reason behind Bulls' 3-peat.The league knows that the players know that the referees know that even the spectators know that but still Bruce Bowen is still allowed to play in the league and he hasnt been thrown out of the games for quite a long time. not even suspended nor fined for quite a while. Bruce Bowen is a significant figure in the Spurs line up becoz of he's intensity and aggressiveness. His talent is nothing compared to Kobe Bryant but he plays w/ a lot of heart. Truly he may be considered a dirty player it is his job to stop the opponent's most lethal weapon. For a coach, you'll love to have a player like him to do all the dirty jobs for you.

Like I said, the Spurs do whatever it takes to win.The Championship is at stake definitely any team should and must do whatever it takes to win. Intimidate their opponents, setting statements and enduring pain. The bottom line is w/c team wants it more? Play hard or go home.
Actually what you posted is incorrect. Bowen was suspended by the league just last March 2008 for deliberately kicking Chris Paul while he was down on the floor. This also reflects on a coach who encourages such actions.I stand corrected.
Oh, and Bruce Bowen is a thug. He might play good defense, but he's a dirty player overall.
Oh, and Bruce Bowen is a thug. He might play good defense, but he's a dirty player overall.
That's the main reason why he pratically didn't play as a member of the USA Basketball World Championship Team. Nobody really likes the guy except for Coach Pop. There was even an article about his experience with USA Basketball a while back which mentioned that it was just a wasted opportunity for him in the roster. HeheIts always good to have an enforcer in the US team coz you'll never know how physical international competition is nowadays and players of other nations arent afraid of NBA players anymore they love to challenge them and play physical w/ them just to get the goat out of these celebrated NBA players.

Problema din kasi sa Cablelink kapag umuulan nawawala sa Channel 51 yung game.
Yep....the Spurs looks good so far.
The Spurs' play-off experience is pretty evident.
It's not over until it's over. Eventhough lamang ang Spurs ng 11, Hornets can get hot lalo na si Paul and that is scary but I do hope Spurs win.
Yes...there are on a mini-run now.
sa bench talaga nagkakatalo.. that has been the problem of the Hornets eh.. if they can't get enough contribution from their bench, mahihirapan talaga sila..
Too bad for the Hornets :(yeah, but its alright. they have to do it one step at a time.
yeah, but its alright. they have to do it one step at a time.
thats what happened to the pistons and the bulls before they became champs.
the pistons have to go thru the celtics,
the bulls have to go thru the pistons
suicide watch for ray allenMarami na rin history na foot injuries si Allen...then you factor in his age plus he is not exactly a good defender......ayun, mahihirapan talaga sya. Thats why they have Posey around...
after disappearing against the cavs and having a tough time chasing the slow-footed wally world, the celtics' 2-guard faces the prospect of guarding the following players in the next two rounds:
- rip hamilton
- kobe bryant or manu ginobili
Are you in need of good sleep?
If not....l hope this happens.....

Lakers in 4!!! ;D ;D ;DAgainst the Spurs? u gotta be kidding. You should be more generous and give atleast 2 games for the defending champs.
REPORT: Bad sign for the Spurs? (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=jl-spurstarmac052008&prov=yhoo&type=lgns)You forgot all about what kinda clutch player Manu Ginobili is. He's a tough nut to crack and i feel his performance together w/ Tony Parker will determine the result of their battle against the Lakers. They are the best penetrating backcourt tandem in the entire NBA. They create for themselves offensively thus making life easier for Duncan under the basket and Mike Finley beyond 3 pt region. LA and SA are the two elite teams in the NBA & their showdown is worth watching. Expect War immediately after the first tip off.
************************
(AP) - A look at the matchup in the Western Conference finals, which begin Wednesday night (with regular-season record, playoff series marks in parentheses):
No. 1 LOS ANGELES LAKERS (57-25, 8-2) vs. No. 3 SAN ANTONIO SPURS (56-26, 8-4).
Season Series: Tied, 2-2, with each team winning both its home games. The Spurs were never at full strength in Los Angeles, missing Tim Duncan and Tony Parker in their first loss and Manu Ginobili on April 13, when the Lakers rolled to a 106-85 victory to clinch the Pacific Division title. That was the only meeting after the Lakers acquired Pau Gasol. Kobe Bryant averaged 24.3 points for the Lakers, while Parker scored 20.7 per game for the Spurs. Ginobili managed just 14.3 on 31 per cent shooting.
Storyline: The sixth post-season meeting between the Western Conference powers in the last 10 years, but the first since 2004. The Spurs knocked out the Lakers on their way to titles in 1999 and 2003, while the Lakers eliminated the Spurs in 2001, '02 and '04, winning championships the first two times.
Key Matchup I: Bryant vs. Bruce Bowen. Bowen, perhaps the league's best perimeter defender, tries to contain the NBA's MVP. Bryant, the leading scorer in the playoffs with 33.3 points per game, said the back injury that slowed him in the second round is healed. Bowen will certainly try to find out if that's true, using his physical defensive tendencies that have annoyed plenty of opponents. And the Lakers better be alert when Bowen has the ball. He made 12 of 15 three-pointers and averaged 12.3 points against Los Angeles, his best performance against any opponent.
Key Matchup II: Derek Fisher vs. Parker. Spurs fans need no reminder that Fisher is a clutch post-season performer, recalling his game-winning jumper with 0.4 seconds left in the Lakers' Game 5 victory at San Antonio in 2004. He is averaging 11.9 points in the playoffs, shooting 51 per cent from the floor and making 17 of 29 3-pointers. He might be more important defensively, because the Lakers must control Parker's penetration and keep the NBA finals MVP out of the paint. If Fisher can't do it, Bryant may have to expend energy to guard him.
X-Factor: Ime Udoka. Bowen's backup seemed to win coach Gregg Popovich's trust in the latter half of the second round and played well during his extended minutes, making 11 of 17 three-pointers (65 per cent) in the final four games. He should get some chances to check Bryant.
Prediction: Lakers in 5.

BTW, if you're the Bulls GM, who'd you pick #1 ;)
I hope the Spurs can upgrade their center position next season, because without the usual dominant Mavs and Suns, no one else can challenge the Lakers with Bynum next season. Oops, forgot about the rising Hornets ;D
^Beasly and probably get a trade for Thomas and/or Noah (but I'd keep Noah instead of Thomas).
Hinrich, Gordon, Deng, Beasly and Noah --> young core group that you can continue to build around.
Although you can also make a case for D-Rose.
Bulls can get something for Hinrich plus I think Duhon wants out of the Bulls roster.
Rose, Gordon, Deng, Thomas, Noah --> not bad at all
Thats why as a Laker fan, I wont be heartbroken that much if they fail to win it all this year.
but i will definitely be upset...especially if they lose against the %$&*#! celtics. sorry, hehe, i've been a laker fan and celtic hater for the longest time.Im keeping my expectations low. hehe. So I dont have to be upset. Winning it all is a bonus for me. ;D ;D
Yup, he is labeled as soft. But Gasol will never be a physical player. He will be pushed and banged around, but his length keeps him afloat defensively. I hope thats enough.
- i think we'll see what gasol is really made of. his rep is that he suffers when playing against a strong 4. traditionally, lakers have defended duncan by making him operate "like he is in a box," to use phil's words. but they had shaq before; it could be a problem for pau.
- mamba mano-a-mano against manu is interesting, as it pits two of the fiercest playoff pit bulls. hard to bet against those two hombres. they'll be going at each other from opposite sides of the floor, though, as bowen will almost certainly take on kobe.Less playing time maybe for Radmanovich. We'll definitely see more of Kobe going SF during endgames. Just like in the Utah series.
- whatever defense the lakes can devise to keep tony longoria out of the lane. containing 2 playoff-mvp-caliber players is tough enough, let alone 3.They survived Deron Williams last time out. But I agree, a three headed monster is much harder to contain.
They survived Deron Williams last time out. But I agree, a three headed monster is much harder to contain.
Problem match-up for San Anotnio...Odom, I don't see anyone in San Antonio to match this 6'10 small forward not unless Jackson put him in no. 4 position. I am a Spurs fan so I would say Spurs in Game 6. Go Spurs! ;Dbro.... Odom has been playing the PF position all season long. ;)
I believe there's no one in the Spurs line-up that can match-up well with Odom. Duncan? Sure, he can probably stop Lamar if he posts up, but face-up one-on-one, Odom's speed and ball-handling will break TD's ankle. Bowen? Odom wil just post him up. Oberto? Nahhhh. Thomas? Just like Duncan. And what I like about Odom is how well he moves and cuts the lane. With Pau and Kobe's excellent passing, Odom would continue what he did against Utah, slicing the lane and waiting for the pass.
San Antonio is consistent in not repeating as champs, so, El-Ay has history backing their "sure" series win. ;D
Sleeper? How about BIG SHOT ROB for the Spurs. Everyone know what he can do offensively and DEFENSIVELY.say that again? Im sorry, Im pretty confused....did you say.....Cheap shot Rob? Yeah, David West and Steve Nash certainly knows that... ;D ;D ;D
say that again? Im sorry, Im pretty confused....did you say.....Cheap shot Rob? Yeah, David West and Steve Nash certainly knows that... ;D ;D ;DPardon me bro, if your a Laker fan you should have remembered the few times Mr Horry bailed them out when he was still a Laker. No three peat for the Lakers, for Phil, Shaq and Kobe w/o BIG SHOT ROB by their side during those days. This guy's a winner, he is one of the very few perhaps the only NBA player in NBA history that is lucky enough to win multiple championships (not on the bench ha but as contributor) for every team he plays for. 2 (back to back) w/ Houston, 3 peat w/ LA, 2 (alternately) w/ SA. A lucky charm indeed to w/c ever team he lands. Yes Nash and West knows him defensively, now its time for KB24 to know him DEFENSIVELY too.
Not sure about West's, but the hip check on Nash was cheap. The guy's 6'3", 178lbs.Right now he's not yet doing it. I think their strategy is to make other shoot the ball first and then Kobe will do his job in the second quarter or second half.
Anyway, how to beat the Lakers? Make Kobe shoot 30+.
http://www.tnt.tv/sports/nba/playoffs08_live/
thanks for the link. will they show the FINALS? ???probably not...the Finals will be carried by ABC.
buti pa ang tnt !!!
Kobe is trying to get his teammates involved first. He'll do his thing in the second half specially in the latter part of the game.
Looking at Game 1 in progress, Kobe needs to start early
The problem with the spurs is they are prone to long dry spells, and they are not fast starters. I like the spurs' chances when manu is invloved in the scoring which was not the case in this game. They went scoreless for 6.5 minutes in the 4th.
YIPEE LAKERS WON!!!!!!
Boston - 1
Lakers - 1
6 more wins - matutupad na dream matchup!!!! :D :D
2. Odom tried early early on to assert his speed advantage over the Spurs big men, but was unsuccessful. Oberto and Horry did a good job putting up a brick wall, resulting in numerous missed lay-ups by Odom.
1. The Spurs were very successful in their pick and roll offense early on. They went away from it in the 2nd half, relying mainly on Duncan's post isolation.
2. Odom tried early early on to assert his speed advantage over the Spurs big men, but was unsuccessful. Oberto and Horry did a good job putting up a brick wall, resulting in numerous missed lay-ups by Odom.
3. Vujacic is an underrated defender. He was mainly responsible for limiting Manu Ginobili to 3-13 shooting.
Manu Ginobili was a none factor in today's game. He was harrassed all game long by the Laker's defense on him. He wasnt able to create and dictate the tempo he wanted. If the Laker continue to shut him down, then the series is over.
manu was shut down by sasha plus the lakers played great team defense...
5. Kobe Bryant must be aggressive early on. He doesnt have to dominate in scoring, but he cant do a passive 2 point first half against the Spurs again. They are too smart and disciplined to let a 20 point lead vanish again.
i've been silent on odom, mainly because i find him to be a tease. he's too inconsistent for my taste.
hey, how about that staples crowd! haven't seen them this energetic since the conference finals against sacto in the three-peat era.
Well no choice for Boston but to win on the road.
Something they have not done in the playoffs.
maybe the loss from their home court might push them to get better on the road since they can no longer rely on winning at home to win the east.I agree. They must learn how to win on the road if they want to win the championship.
One can only hope ;D ;D ;Dcoz there's always hope even if there's no more hope
Talo na naman Spurs ko. :'(
Six Things I Think I Think: Game 2 LA vs San Antonio
1. Telling statistic of the game: Field Goal Percentage, LA shot 54%, San Antonio 35%. Goes to show that the Lakers are underrated as a defensive team.
2. While Kobe Bryant played a pedestrian but efficient game (+24, highest for the game), Lamar Odom (20 pts 12 rebs, 4 blks) and Derek Fisher (11 points on 5 shots) were the big contributors, far off from their game 1 showing. Big Bounce back.
3. Ginobili again was shut down (7 pts on 2-8 shooting). This guy is hurting and needs rest. And it doesnt help when Vujacic is pesky on defense.
4. The alternate day scheduling favors the younger, fresher Lakers. The Spurs need more than a day's rest. They have played more play-off games than the Lakers, and are overall, much older. It is just coincidence I know, but it doesnt help to debunk any wild conspiracy about a LA-Boston Finals.
5. Spurs bench were again outplayed by the young Laker bench. Expect to see some changes this off-season. Horry and Finley maybe are on their last ride.
6. With a 0-2 deficit, the Spurs have the ability to bounce back, highlighted by winning their series against the Hornets, after climbing back from the same deficit.
But these Lakers are no Hornets.
im thinking it's safe to say the spurs are finished for this season. :-[
not really, this was also the case against New Orleans during the last round so anything's still possible...
though I don't really like Spurs brand of basketball ::)
It ain't over until one team wins 4 games in this playoffs, so, the Spurs aren't licked....yet. Hehehe.Perhaps the strategy was one step backward , two steps forward. It was a lost game no matter how hard the Spurs will play, they just couldn't much the Laker's intensity so Coach Popovich decided to rest his key players (obviously drained from that NO series), let them watch the game on the bench and prepare them for the next battle.
I never expected Poppovich to pull out his stars with still 8 minutes to go. They could've made a push with that much time, even if it is the 4th Q.

age factor is creeping them now. :(
...and hope they win their games at home. This is a very scary situation for the Spurs because they will have to put big effort to win 4 games with only 5 more games remaining when it seems they are very exhausted right now. I think their energy were drained in their series w/ NO which was very evident particularly in their first game with Lakers and the age factor is creeping them now. :(In order for the Spurs to win, Ginobili must play his usual game. He must be able to create for himself offensively. The Lakers have put the clamps on him this past two games.

So far Celtics havn't show any sign that it can win on the road...and we all know you can't win a chamionship that way.
He is 40-0 so far when leading a series by 2-0.
up 23points, 35 seconds to go in the 3rd, i can smell celtics victory ;D ;Dyup, it looks good so far.
celtics - 2
lakers - 2
4 games to go, dream match na :D :D
Technically the Celtics can win a championship even w/o winning a game on the road. Unfortunately, they lost their last game in Boston. So throw that notion out the window.
I agree (technically they can), but winning on the road is all about a team's character.
Another win by the Lakers and the Spurs have dug themselves a very big hole that only the Red Sox has climbed out of. Also, anyone who comes out of the east and if the Lakers wins the west it'll be a good series.
In order for the Spurs to win, Ginobili must play his usual game. He must be able to create for himself offensively. The Lakers have put the clamps on him this past two games.
Based on stats, Ginobili's game dips below his average against the Lakers. 14pt/game lang ata as against his scoring average of 20. (Not too sure of the numbers though)The Lakers won game 1 & 2 not mainly becoz of Bryant but becoz they plays as a team. The Spurs just cant match the intensity being rendered by every Laker that was put into the game. Of course Ginobili's sub par performance in both games tells it all. The results of game 1 could have gone either way and game 2 wouldn't have been a blowout had the Spurs win game 1. Well if the Spurs can't win game 3 then the series is over.
But what this means is that the Lakers has at least two things going for them:
- 1. Kobe is the only player that the Spurs find difficult to stop
- 2. The Lakers have Ginobili's number

how can you tell that game 2 wouldnt have been a blownout game had Spurs won game 1? ;)becoz of the morale factor.
becoz of the morale factor.
Manu is fresher tonight.
Talo Lakers.. :( :-\ Oh well..
There was a definite extra bounce in the steps of the Spurs.
Manu was defenitely his usual getting 4 treys in the 1st half.
I'd say that the Spurs still have their backs against the wall in game 4.
If they don't come up with a win, the Lakers can close it out at home (where are the Spurs have been atrocious).
I expect Spurs to win game 4 because if they don't the series is definitely over. There is really something about the homecourt this playoffs. ;D Biglang lumakas si Ginobili nung napunta na sa San Antonio and everybody from their team is shooting the basket well especially Barry who is virtually non-existent in Games 1 and 2. :DI heard they didnt practice and just had team meetings. I think that helped too.
Let's Go DETROIT! ;D ;D ;DDo you think both series will go full length? Whats your fearless forecast?
Let the East finish ASAP and the West go to Game 7.Which team for the East? and which for the West?
wouldnt it be funny if things turned out to a celtics-spurs or a lakers-pistons match up? a lot will be definitely pissed off no?Everyone's praying for a LA vs BOSTON Nba Finale.
my point exactly. everyone is so gung ho to see a la/boston matchup that to think that it'll go otherwise is unacceptable. the thing is, there is still that possiblity that we'll get the otherwise.
bottom line: it aint over til its over!
the foremost of which will definitely be nba head honcho david stern!parang Ateneo vs La salle yan pagnatuloy he he
;)
Spurs-Pistons??he he but of course Lakers vs Celtics will keep you alive and kicking!!! Niot only you pala but the whole world!
I wont be dissapointed. Extra sleep is always good!!! ;D ;D ;D
Spurs-Pistons??
I wont be dissapointed. Extra sleep is always good!!! ;D ;D ;D
Putsa...akala ko tapos na.... ;D ;D
I didn't see the last play. I turned off my tv after a 7-pt lead from the Lakers with less than a minute to go but it seems there is a controversy regarding that play. ??? Wala bang video ng last play diyan?
n retrospect,
1. Where's Manu?? Bounce Back game uli sya. But this time in a bad way. 6 points on 2-8 shooting. He is fortunate Barry filled up the void, saving his ass.
2. The Spurs is really doing a good job keeping Kobe out of the FT line. He didnt attempted any freethrows in game 4. Only 6 FT attempts the whole series. That is pretty unbelievable.
3. Tim Duncan got tired in the 4th quarter. Popovich has no choice but to leave him there. Manu may been their team's best player whole season, but Duncan is still their pillar of strength.
4. Odom kept his promise to play a better game. His 8 4th quarter points were crucial in giving the Lakers a sizeable lead in a close game.
5. Wondering there was no foul in that last play? It really doesnt help debunk that conspiracy for a dream series most of the fans want.
Bowen's still purposely extending his leg whenever he defends anyone. Just watch him defend Kobe in the series and when Kobe pulls for a J, Bruce Lee's leg finds it way to where Kobe's feet should land. That's an excellent way to break someone's ankle(s). I hope Kobe lands his feet on Bowen's knees if he doesn't stop doing that.
popovich, barry and duncan admitted that it was the right call.
pop: "If I was the official I wouldn’t have called that a foul.”
I agree w/ travelling but that would too close to call.yes. too close.
I didn't watch but were the Lakers in penalty then?
yes. too close.
Yes, the Lakers were in the Penalty. If called, 2 FTs to tie.
The Spurs on the other hand have no bench to match the Lakers:
Horry -- too old (I think he's 0-9 in the series)
Vaughn -- not a threat (we've seen this in other series)
Finley/Manu -- inconsistent
Udoka -- the only bench player to provide some consistent scoring (but not that much)
Barry -- aside from Game 4, nothing much really.
Hope the Celtics can maintain the lead till end game..... dream matchup is about to become a reality ;D ;D
so far....
Lakers - 3
Celtics - 2
3 more wins to go ;)
Not a good sign for the Lakers...Kobe shooting too much in the 1st.They are tentative......its pressure, coz everyone expects them to close it out. And now, they are in an early hole.
I like it better when he's aggressive but looking for teammates.
It builds the confidence of the other Lakers.
Oh and Finley is making it hard for the Lakers right now.
die, san antonio, die!!!
:)
Bonus na lang ang Championship.
ayoko :)
not even the championship this year would satisfy me. i won't be happy till they get the back-to-back next year, with bynum coming back to push odom to his normal position at sf, ariza giving kobe backup minutes, vlade off the bench to join farmar, vujacic, walton, and turiaf. they'll tear up the league.
yeah i'm greedy. champions now, back-to-back champions next year. :) :)
then bron can start his dynasty, hehe. ;D

Hope kobe doesn't exert himself too much in the finals, he will still play in the Olympics ;DOK lang...marami naman sya maasahan sa Team USA. ;) ;)
Really didn't like the fact that Sasha still went for a shot at the end and the way the Los Angeles crowd booed the Spurs when The Logo asked them to give the Spurs a big hand for an excellent series.
Hope kobe doesn't exert himself too much in the finals, he will still play in the Olympics
both Detroit and Boston played the Lakers during the regular season prior to the arrival of Gasol. They are in for big surprise this time around. The Lakers will be even more formidable next year with the arrival of a healthy Bynum and Ariza to boot. The only problem that they have would be that both Turiaf and Vujacic are both on the free agent list after this season and a lot of teams are keeping an eye on those two. Those teams might just offer big bucks to those two that the Lakers cant match due to their gigantic payroll.I think they will both stay w/ the lakers for a chance to defend their crown should they win this year and if not, i think they will still be around for another chance to win a title.
It seems that the barometer for the spurs is manu ginobili, if you check the stats, whenever he's playing well the spurs are tough to beat, unfortunately for the spurs manu struggled in this series. 1 good game(game3 with 30pts) = 1win for the spurs. Lakers vs Celtics finals would be interesting..Lakers vs Celtics is the match up evryone's praying for. I hope the Celtics will end their series against Detroit today so the casts for the NBA finals will be complete.

make no mistake, he IS good, kaso nakaka turn off yabang nya e.
that's just me. :-\
i'd rather have garnett, pierce and allen (who's due one!) get their rings than have kobe win yet another one. make no mistake, he IS good, kaso nakaka turn off yabang nya e.

a team with team players is better than a one-man team.
...
^^ That's Kobe the MVP for you - either you like him or hate him. :) Even the behavior of KG and Pierce on-court might tick off fans of the opposing team, but obviously not to the same extent as Kobe for some fans. Well, at least he's got the skills, the stats and the awards to back it up. Should be interesting how he'll handle himself at Boston.
If LA steals one of the first two games in Boston, I think the championship will be LA's in Game 5. But if this has to go back to Boston, lagot ang LA. Historically and with the 2-3-2 format, the home team should be favored when the NBA Finals reaches a Game 6 or 7.
Kailan ba start ng Finals mamaya o bukas? Go Spurs...next season! ;Dyes kelan ba? anyone who knows the shcedules pls share to us. tnx!

Ay naku...Sir, what you stated is true but they are still the underdogs coz the Celtics dont have championship experience like what the Lakers enjoy. Doc Rivers, in his first stint to coach in an NBA finals is up against the ZEN Master w/ various playoffs and championship experience plus 9 titles, all in threepeat fashion. Its still David vs Goliath.
Celtics led the league with 66 wins.
They have homecourt advantage.
They have Garnett, Pierce and Allen, who by the way are perennial all-stars.
How could they be underdogs?? ::) ::)
BurN, Kobe, BUrN!!!!

Sarcasm dude......sarcasm.whether you like it or not, thats the truth.
If you're looking for the underdog, let me list them:fearless forecast?
Rondo IS against Fisher
Allen IS against Kobe
VladRad IS against Pierce
Odom IS against KG
Perkins IS against Gasol
Plus, the Boston bench IS against Lakers bench
And last but certainly not least, Rivers IS against Jackson.
So, yep... the Celtics look like the underdogs here. :)
fearless forecast?
Lakers in 6That means the LAKERS have to win and be crowned in BOSTON GARDEN.
that means...PERFECT SCENARIO
If the Celtics are going to win a championship, theres no better time than now. Their window of opportunity isnt that as wide as the Lakers. The Lakers are in a much better position for the next 3-5 years than the Celtics.
This is Bill Simmons' worst nightmare.
A split in Boston. 2 out of 3 in LA. Game 6 in Boston.
I hope Solar doesnt meddle with the broadcast, and bring in local commentators like Chino and Quinito.
I guess Solar has indeed meddled with the broadcast already. :D
maalat si kobe ngayon ah hehe. ;DI just don't know why he keeps settling for jumpshots. I think he getaway with this in their series with San Antonio. If they are going to win their series with Boston he needs to dominate the game by going strong to the basket. This will also helps to set up his teammates for a good shot.
Celtics win 98-88!!! Looks like that stat of Philjax going 41-0 when he wins game one is now thrown out the window.
actually, it's not.. he's still 41-0 when he wins game one.. if they won today but lost the series, magiging 41-1 na siya..

C/S for Chiquito (Chino and Quinito) tandem.
babawi din kami sa game2 ;)he he Lakers fan k pala. Goodluck sa game 2 i hope the game will finish down to the wire.
Don't like the calls of the refs. Boston is playing great but they're getting a lot of help from the refs.
To many no calls on Lakers end...end of the half Boston 19 FTA versus Lakers 2.
It's not like all Lakers' attempt were all jumpshot from the outside.

And to think they let him win the MVP.
dyerds -- thye're really doing a great team defense against Kobe. They are forcing him to give up the ball. What the Lakers really need is for the role players to hit their shots. That will free him to operate and drive to the basket.
...but he is contented with his jumpshots...why not drive to the hoop and get some foulsI agree, but we're not seeing what he's seeing on the floor. Baka wala talaga driving lane.
I agree, but we're not seeing what he's seeing on the floor. Baka wala talaga driving lane.
I think he's taking slightly contested shots compred to driving against 2-3 defenders and 1 on them is KG.
Plus the refs are not calling the fouls so you'd like more space to take your shot rather than hands holding you down but no calls coming.
Traveling yung steal-fastbreak ni Ramdanovic ;D buti na lang hindi tinawagan.
I was hoping The Truth will miss 1 of 2 to make it a 1 posession game and no need for a 3.
Celtics vs Lakers sa finals..
Celtics emerging as champs.. ;D
hahahaha... how is Kobe similar to Michael Jordan again???
Kobe is only a copy cat. This years finals just proves how TINY he is compared to Jordan. And to think they let him win the MVP.
hear, hear. enough of mj comparisons and let's focus on 2008!
speaking of focus, what happened to the focus of my team :(
their inside game has disappeared. they went to gasol early, with good results, but went away from that and let the celts dictate their offense (outside jumpers). the disparity in free throws is quite instructive.
these are not the lakers of the past rounds and they need to wake up. kobe needs to read the d better, or better yet, make them react to him instead of the other way around.
but take nothing away from the celts, they have become better with each round.
Another thing, no one in Lakers roster can stop Pierce. He is another reason why Celts won its first 2 games in Boston.
The thing that scares me the most is that in this playoffs, the LAkers haven't found themselves trailing any team. Sure, they got beat back-to-back, but they had the luxury of a 2-0 advantage when they got beat two straight at Utah. I hope they can adjust and beat the Celtics at home.
Ive noticed that Allen is moving like Hamilton or Miller off the ball, getting free from screens, and make it double screens provided by Celtic big men at that. Thats why he is getting good looks. Poor job by Laker big men in rotating to cover Allen.
this really pisses me off..
Game time. It's do-or-die for the Lakers. Good luck!
Pierce 0-4, 2 fouls
KG 0-5, 7reb 3blks
Allen 2 fouls
...and still tied at 20 ;) Boston bench stepping up.
Stern maximizing profit until Game 7 ;D
There can only be one.

Must be a weird time for David Stern.
Here comes Donaghy with another set of allegations that Refs altered play-off games. And this right in the middle of one of the most anticipated Finals series ever.
Also, what's happening to Odom?? He has to break out of that slump he's in. Good thing Vujacic played well to support Kobe.
Boston is a tough team to beat.
;D What i did enjoyed best is the intermission Dance number of the Laker Girl....galing nung Get LOW (Flo Rida) dance number nla ::)..
Also, what's happening to Odom?? He has to break out of that slump he's in.
channel 9 you have but to get amused or laughed off sa commentator.
That is why I won't be surprise if they trade him next season if they do not win the chamiponship this year.
I don't know if I heard correctly, but here goes.
Chino: Pierce already has 8 pts.
Quinito: That's not too bad for 6-9 shooting.
???
Gusto ko Mike Miller or Shane Battier. ;D ;D ;D
Donation muli from Memphis???
How bout Bruce Bowen? :D
Hindi match eh...tanda na ni Bowen. Odom is just 28 y/o. Tsaka di mahilig magbigay ng donation si Kupchak. ;D ;D
I'll probably go with Battier I think both teams will benefit from this trade. He is with Houston right? :)Yup....I feel Odom would be in the trading block, win or lose.
Wouldn't any team challenge the Lakers for Bynum? I mean he's a restricted free agent, right?
and as a phil jackson admirer i have to say i'm disappointed with col. sanders so far. he's been outcoached by tom thibodeau, whose defensive schemes have been superb. tom's been turning kobe into his old self, trying to take over and going away from the offense.

i agree on this. simmons, in his latest article, listed down the must-do's against the celts, which the Hawks and the other teams used successfully against the team (pressing the guards etc). The Lakers have used these sparingly.
i can't actually believe that the celtics are a better defensive team than the spurs (though i'm no expert). except that the lakers offense seemed so much more fluid in the spurs series.
kobelaat!!! ;D
I think Sasha taunted Ray Allen too much. Kaya naging all pumped up si Ray Allen. Na-challenge siya!
Allen just blew by sasha in the closing seconds, you should see his face during the timeout.
naiiyak na nga si sasha eh.. i'd give the MVP to Pierce.. Allen has been the most consistent and has held his own against Kobe but Pierce has the biggest impact every game..
Downhill na ang Lakers ;D
If LA loses on Game 5, do you think Kobe will cry again for a trade? ;D
I agree with you bored Pierce should be the Finals MVP. You really can't blame Lakers for this Boston really played a great 2nd half offensively and defensively. I considered this the best game this series so far.
Only a fool would do that with this current Laker team. ;)
If LA loses on Game 5, do you think Kobe will cry again for a trade? ;D
Boston is really good. I think assistant coach Tom Thibodeau should get coaching offers from other teams......he is the mastermind in their defensive schemes.
yeah, he would have been a perfect fit for Kerr's idea of a coach.. I don't think Kobe would ever ask for a trade again.. he still has Bynum next year.. if Bynum got to play in this series, they wouldn't have had match up problems with Pierce.. they would have been tougher defensively and on the boards.. so I think Kobe will settle for an MVP trophy and an olympic gold.. he'll get the ring next year..
I look at it this way.....if Bynum was in the NBA draft just this year, he will be the top pick. Its like the Lakers getting the top pick after playing the Finals. Thats why Odom looks expendable now. I dont see him playing SF in a Bynum-Gasol frontcourt.
@Bored,
We're talking off-season na. Time na ba to move on?? It aint over till the Jello's jiggling in the ref, but it doesnt look good now. ;D ;D ;D
Low expectations leading to this season, like what Bro Munskie said earlier (if I'm correct) in this thread, makes a probable LAkers Finals series loss bearable for me. ;D
Well, the gods is about to give it to the Celts, the Big Three has endured a lot, they deserve it. For their career, and for playing very well this season.
;)
Lakers should remove Odom in their lineup, I think he is an overrated player. I just don't believe that they can rely on him night in and night out whatever position he takes.
I think LA should keep Odom. When Bynum gets back...no team in the NBA can boast that the Lakers 4th best player or 4th option on offense, is as good as Odom.
The Celtics deserve a break after the spate of bad luck that hounded them (Reggie Lewis' death, Rick Pittino, Antoine Walker, Pierce's stabbing etc.) and what fitting way to win another one than against the Lakers. Argh! 3 wins na lang champion na LAkers. Hehehe ;)
I think LA needs a more reliable 3.. Radmanovic really isn't.. Ariza can be but more on the defensive side.. Walton's too inconsistent.. if Odom can adjust well playing at 3, LA will be better off keeping him..
Thanks for rubbing it in bro.
I'm not sure if the numbers will work, but what about Shawn Marion? Nangangarap lang... ;D
I'm not sure if the numbers will work, but what about Shawn Marion? Nangangarap lang... ;D
sorry bro. just couldnt resist eh, but i admit that was way too LOW. :-[ :D
Hehehe, napansin ko, parang Laker thread na to. Thats why lost of people are anti-Lakers. ;D ;D
Im ok now. I could have just ignored it. Just frustrated with the loss. Who wouldnt if yer a Laker fan? :)
I'm anti-Lakers too but a big fan of basketball. ;D :D :P
All for basketball. I must admit, contra-Ginebra naman ako. I hate Jaworski. So nakaka relate ako sa anti-Lakers or anti-Kobe. ;D ;D
But PBA isnt good in the eyes na. Buhat nung NBA ruled local TV, it was downhill na in ratings ang PBA.
yeah, i agree Marion prefers to be the main man on his team and get paid big bucks than win a championship.. looking at the free agent pool, only Jamison and Arenas are the big names.. they would probably resign with the Wizards..
All for basketball. I must admit, contra-Ginebra naman ako. I hate Jaworski. So nakaka relate ako sa anti-Lakers or anti-Kobe. ;D ;D
What the? I don't agree with your comparison here. I'm a Ginebra fan but a Laker/Kobe hater :P
I wasnt comparing. I was just trying to explain the feeling of being "anti" to a certain team.
BTW, ever thought of who will win with a Celtics-Spurs matchup? I know, I know Lakers have beaten the Spurs, and the Celtics are about to beat the Lakers. Just playing in my mind ::)
Anyway, I think this'll be a busy offseason.
I think it was reported already that Arenas won't resign with the Wizards.

mga kaibigan
meron po tayong off-season thread :)
hindi pa po tapos ang season na ito :)
kahit hindi pa nagpapakita ang lakers :(
What went wrong Lakers? Not enough food? Sleep?
All for basketball. I must admit, contra-Ginebra naman ako. I hate Jaworski. So nakaka relate ako sa anti-Lakers or anti-Kobe. ;D ;D
interesting analysis of the mvp...
that last quote on the red side is the very reason why im still in the anti-kobe faction.
...I believe that you would never be a Kobe fan...
This the same defense that forced Lebron to shoot bricks in their series.
Boston's D is good, no doubt about it; but Lebron's not really known as a shooter and bricks a lot fo his outside shots (weakest point of his game IMHO).
Boston's gonna crap in their pants if they lose game 6.
hahahaha
Boston playing backyard basketball just so they can bring it back home?
I don't think they are THAT GOOD and THAT ARROGANT. Even the 72-10 Chicago Bulls didn't mind winning on the road. You close out on the road or at home. It doesnt matter where.
yes you have a point there but, keep in mind that the jordan may have had many rings on his fingers at that time. its just that the championship celebration is sweet the first time, and much much sweeter when attained at home.
its just that the championship celebration is sweet the first time, and much much sweeter when attained at home.
But an "upset special" is always a possibility. "Bilog and bola" sabi nga dito sa atin. ;)
I don't think that Lakers can get back in this game. It's very obvious that Boston is going to win it today. ;D Congrats to all Boston fans!!!!! ;D
I wonder who's MVP. Is it possible to give to 3 players?
dumb enough? pulling back their punches?
are you watching the same series? or just never say die laker fans? i respect your opinions coz i believe people will always believe what they wat to believe.
they are just too good for the lakers... to pullack punches, make the series one game longer. by regulation of game 5 they had a feel or enough confidence to know how much a threat the lakers are.
yes, bilog ang bola pero they knew the risks and obiously it was a low risk move.
BOSTON in six. :)
BOSTON CELTICS 2008 NBA Champions!
laki ng tambak sorry LAKERS fans! kahit taga LA ako. :D
Celtics vs Lakers sa finals..
Celtics emerging as champs.. ;D
Then can you tell me how the Celtics played backyard basketball in game 5 just to extend it for game 6 and celebrate at home? Any instances, or any play? The fact is, they really tried to close it out.
Yes, Im a Laker fan, and Im watching the same series, but Im not dumb enough not to admit that the Boston is the better team. Yes, Boston was the better team than my beloved Lakers.
But to say that Boston purposedly lost game 5 just to win and celebrate it at home, thats arrogance. Not by the Boston team, but by the fan who think of that notion.
;D ;D ;D
priceless ;D ;D ;D
LA looked like the Laguna Lakers earlier. Geez! Well, let's give it to Boston. They deserved to win. Given their lineup, they were expected to win. I rooted for LA but they were simply overpowered by the C's.
Right now, let's cheer for the new champs, Boston. At least East naman, and after 20 years! How sweet it is talaga.
Actually the C's weren't expected to win by the majority. 9 out of 10 predicted the Lakers to win...mostly 4-1 and some 4-2.
Actually an East team won the title just two years ago which is the Miami Heat.
Iba talaga celebration pag first timers :D
(http://img237.imageshack.us/img237/7124/28ded6d4066049f0905bfcexy9.jpg)
Oh sorry what I meant was, 20 years ++ for a Boston championship to happen. The East saw two teams winning recently -- Detroit and Miami.
My prediction was correct too 4-2 unfortunately it went to Boston. He he.
However, with their lineup now, here is LA's dilemma: Gasol can't defend the paint; Odom is inconsistent;
Bynum does not have an offensive game.
They cannot play those three at the same time! There are rumours that LA will
trade Bynum or Odom for a big-time swingman: Luol Deng?? Who knows,
Mitch Kupchack might steal another player without giving up a starter.
Congrats to Boston and some of its classy fans... as for the rest, its quite understandable coz they haven't had practice the last ten years or so. ;)
kwame brown? i doubt the lakers will gone far with kwame on board how will be grinning he's contract is up and nobody would take him, grizz are selling their team that's why they went for the trade, its easier to sell a under the cap team rather than over.
