The Witcher Is Getting A Netflix Series
http://kotaku.com/the-witcher-is-getting-a-netflix-series-1795289049
The show will be executive produced by Sean Daniel (The Mummy franchise) and Jason Brown (The Expanse). The Oscar nominated visual effects studio Platige Image S.A. is doing the show, but the official release doesn’t specifically state if it’s CG animated or live-action—or a mix of the two. No stills have been release yet, either.
CDPR , maker of the game, is not involved with the project though. but i hope the series will be good enough. The games were wonderful, especially Witcher 3.

The Witcher Casting Reveals Who is Playing Ciri, Yen & More
Netflix has revealed who will be joining Henry Cavill in the upcoming adaptation series of The Witcher, including who will be playing Ciri, the Princess of Cintra, and the enigmatic sorceress Yennefer.
Joining Cavill’s Geralt of Rivia are 17-year-old Freya Allan as Ciri, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer, Jodhi May as Queen Calanthe, Mimi Ndiweni as fledgling sorceress Fringilla, Sabrina as Therica Wilson-Read, Millie Brady as outcast Princess Renfri, Adam Levy as the druid Mousesack, Björn Hlynur Haraldsson as Queen Calanthe’s husband, the knight Eist, and MyAnna Buring as Tissaia, head of the magical academy.
Based on the best-selling fantasy series, The Witcher is an epic tale of fate and family. Geralt of Rivia, a solitary monster hunter, struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts. But when destiny hurtles him toward a powerful sorceress, and a young princess with a dangerous secret, the three must learn to navigate the increasingly volatile Continent together.
The Witcher series for Netflix will be based on the stories and novels by Andrzej Sapkowski, of which there are eight, which themselves formulated the popular Witcher games franchise which has since spawned a comic book series and a tabletop game. The book series was previously adapted for television in Poland.
Schmidt Hissrich will serve as executive producer and showrunner for The Witcher. She’s known for her work (writing and co-executive producing) on The Defenders, Daredevil, and Power.
Netflix is aiming to release the first season sometime in 2020. The series will be eight episodes long and will be shooting in Eastern Europe.

‘The Witcher’ Showrunner Says Netflix Series Will Never Adapt the Video Games
Netflix’s “The Witcher” is best known in the U.S. for the series of role playing video games by CD Projekt Red rather than the fantasy novels by Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski that inspired the games. But if the show ever moves past the story laid out in the books like “Game of Thrones” did, Showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich says fans should definitely not expect it to mine the games for material.
“Extreme long vision is no, we will not start adapting the games,” Hissrich told TheWrap during a press round table at San Diego Comic-Con 2019. “I can only attack one season at a time, I’m so excited for this one, the rest kind of makes my mind explode right now. If someone says ‘what happens in Season 7,’ sure I have thoughts. Fingers crossed, we get there.”
The games, in case you’re not familiar, are a trilogy of stories that serves as a sequel to the books, picking up where they end and continuing the story of Geralt of Rivia, a famed monster hunter who keeps getting caught up in lots of major world events. So Hissrich is saying that regardless of whether “The Witcher” ever makes it past the stories told in the books, they won’t use the games as source material for further stories.

Netflix’s The Witcher Has Seven Seasons Planned, Says Showrunner
We’re still just over a month away from the highly-anticipated debut of Netflix’s adaptation of the acclaimed fantasy novel series The Witcher, but showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich has no intention of letting the series run to ground anytime soon. She has revealed a full seven seasons are mapped out for the Henry Cavill-led series.
In an interview with SFX Magazine, Hissrich revealed that despite no early renewal announcement or extensions for the series from the streaming service, she has plotted out a full seven seasons for where the series should go following this December’s debut.
“Right now it’s just about, ‘how do you set up stories that really capture audiences for years at a time?'” Hissrich said. “The worst thing we could do is put all of our energies just into season one, and not be thinking about where these characters can grow to. I can’t promise you that they’re very much alive.”

'The Witcher' Gets Early Season 2 Renewal at Netflix
Netflix has given a rare early renewal to The Witcher, picking up a second season a month ahead of its series debut.
The Henry Cavill-led fantasy drama, based on a best-selling series of novels by Andrzej Sapkowski (previously adapted as a trio of video games), is set to premiere Dec. 20 on the streamer. Season two, which like the first season will run for eight episodes, will begin production early next year in London for a premiere in fall 2021.

Netflix's 'The Witcher' Casts 7 More Actors for Key Roles in Season 2
The Witcher has added seven additional cast members to season two in roles recognizable to the fans of Andrzej Sapkowski's books.
Here are the new castmembers and their official character names. The descriptions of the characters, however, are from the books and games, so those might change in the show.
Adjoa Andoh (Bridgerton, Silent Witness) in the role of Nenneke. In the books, she's a priestess of Melitele, and the head of the Temple of Melitele.
Cassie Clare (Brave New World, The Bisexual) in the role of Philippa Eilhart. She's an advisor to Redania’s King Vizimir II and leader of the Lodge of Sorceresses. This casting was previously reported as joining the show on several fan sites, but this is the first time her casting has been confirmed by Netflix.
Liz Carr (Silent Witness, Devs) in the role of Fenn. Fenn was a partner in a law firm and detective agency in Dorian.
Simon Callow (A Room with A View, Four Weddings and a Funeral) in the role of Codringher. Fenn's partner.
Graham McTavish (Outlander, The Hobbit) in the role of Dijkstra. He was a master spy and head of special forces for the kingdom of Redania.
Kevin Doyle (Downton Abbey, Happy Valley) in the role of Ba’lian. Another casting that was previously reported on fan sites and being confirmed for the first time. This is apparently a new character.
Chris Fulton (Bridgerton, Outlaw King) in the role of Rience. A a mage who was instructed to find Ciri after she disappeared during the slaughter of Cintra.
The season two storyline: "Convinced Yennefer’s (Anya Chalotra) life was lost at the Battle of Sodden, Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill) brings Princess Cirilla (Freya Allan) to the safest place he knows, his childhood home of Kaer Morhen. While the Continent’s kings, elves, humans and demons strive for supremacy outside its walls, he must protect the girl from something far more dangerous: the mysterious power she possesses inside."

Laurence O’Fuarain Will Lead the Cast of The Witcher: Blood Origin
There’s a new addition to the cast of The Witcher: Blood Origin. According to Deadline, Irish actor Laurence O’Fuarain has sign on to play the leading role of Fjall in the upcoming Witcher spinoff. Fjall’s character description says that he is part of “a clan of warriors sworn to protect a King, Fjall carries a deep scar within, the death of a loved one who fell in battle trying to save him. A scar that won’t let him settle, or make peace with himself or the world around him. In his quest for redemption, Fjall will find himself fighting beside the most unlikely of allies as he carves a path of vengeance across a continent in turmoil.”
O’Fuarain previously had a role in the Game of Thrones season 5 finale where he portrayed Simpson. He also played Hakon in History’s Vikings series.
The Blood Origin cast also includes British model and actress Jodie Turner-Smith as Éile. This spinoff is an original limited series that will consist of six episodes. Andrzej Sapkowski is a creative consultant on the show with Declan de Barra as showrunner.
Here’s the official synopsis from Netflix:
“In an elven world 1,200 years before Geralt of Rivia, the worlds of monsters, men and elves merge to become one — and the very first Witcher arises.”
Netflix has yet to announce an official release date for The Witcher: Blood Origin.

Jodie Turner-Smith Exits ‘The Witcher: Blood Origin’ Netflix Limited Series Due To Scheduling Issue
Jodie Turner-Smith has departed Netflix’s six-part, live-action limited series The Witcher: Blood Origin. She was to play a lead, Éile, in the prequel to the streamer’s hit series The Witcher.
“Due to a change in the production schedule for The Witcher: Blood Origin limited series, unfortunately Jodie Turner-Smith will no longer be able to continue on in the role of Éile,” a Netflix spokesperson said in a statement to Deadline.
I hear the start of production for The Witcher: Blood Origin was pushed slightly, creating a scheduling conflict for the in-demand British actress.
The role of Éile, which will now be recast, is an elite warrior blessed with the voice of a goddess, who has left her clan and position as Queen’s guardian to follow her heart as a nomadic musician. A grand reckoning on the continent forces her to return to the way of the blade in her quest for vengeance and redemption.

The Witcher Season 3 Scripts Are Almost Done Says Showrunner
While fans of Netflix’s The Witcher are enjoying the recently released second season of the series, the crew behind the series are already getting prepared for what’s coming next.
Speaking to TechRadar, showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich confirmed that the scripts for the third season were almost done, but that the rest of the process had only just begun.
“Actually, this is our last week [December 3] in the writers’ room,” Hissrich said of The Witcher Season 3. “We’re almost done with the scripting phase, and it’s amazing. I’m really thrilled with how the season is shaping up because it’s based on my favorite book in the saga, which is The Time of Contempt.”
Hissrich went on to say that the first two seasons of the series have felt like the team just setting up for everything that’s to come in The Witcher Season 3. However, they still have a long way to go when it comes to finishing things up.
“I feel like seasons 1 and 2 have been laying the playing field for everything huge that’s about to happen,” Hissrich said. “But the creative process is now really just starting. We have the scripts, and now we’ll bring directors on, the actors back in, and really start delving in deeper and reflecting back and making sure that it’s the perfect season.”

Netflix’s The Witcher Season 3 Has Started Filming
Because of pandemic related delays, there were two years between The Witcher season 1 and season 2. Thankfully, it may not take as long for The Witcher season 3 to arrive. Netflix has announced that the third season of The Witcher is already in production
Additionally, Netflix released a synopsis for the new season:
“As monarchs, mages, and beasts of the Continent compete to capture her, Geralt takes Ciri of Cintra into hiding, determined to protect his newly-reunited family against those who threaten to destroy it.
Entrusted with Ciri’s magical training, Yennefer leads them to the protected fortress of Aretuza, where she hopes to discover more about the girl’s untapped powers; instead, they discover they’ve landed in a battlefield of political corruption, dark magic, and treachery. They must fight back, put everything on the line — or risk losing each other forever.”
Netflix has not set a date for The Witcher season 3. But since production is already underway, an early 2023 debut is not out of the question.

‘The Witcher’ Season 4 Recasts Geralt of Rivia With Liam Hemsworth, Henry Cavill to Exit Series
“The Witcher” has been renewed for a fourth season by Netflix, though the hit fantasy series will be missing one familiar face. Henry Cavill will exit the production after the upcoming third season debuts, with Liam Hemsworth set to take over the lead role of Geralt of Rivia.
The streamer announced the renewal and casting news on Saturday afternoon, with both Hemsworth and Cavill also releasing statements. Reading into the tone of both statements, the decision seems to be an amicable passing of the torch.
Cavill has starred as the monster hunter Geralt on “The Witcher” since the Netflix series debuted in Dec. 2019. The show’s upcoming third season, which has set a release window of Summer 2023, will now be the actor’s last with the series.
