The 50 films you should see by the age of 14 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BFI_list_of_the_50_films_you_should_see_by_the_age_of_14) is a list created by the British Film Institute in 2005 to inspire parents and educators to take movies as seriously as books and other kinds of art. It was created by more than 70 experts including film producers, teachers, authors and critics who all made their own top ten.
The film registering the most votes was Spirited Away, which won the Academy Award for best animated feature in 2002.

In this spirit... what Tagalog films should be seen by someone before they are age 14?
-
Tough. A lot of what's appropriate for fourteen and under isn't very good.
Magnifico comes to mind.
-
Some good kids films that comes to mind:
Magnifico
Gulong
Boses
RPG Metanoia
-
Di ba kasama yung "Katorse" ni Dina Bonnevie? ;D :D
-
Off the top of my head:
Ang Tatay kong Nanay
Magnifico
Pagdadalaga ni Maximo Oliveros
Ang Panday
RPG Metanoia
Bagets
Darna
Elektrika Kasi Eh
Pepot Artista
-
Mike De Leon:
Batch 81
Kakabakaba Ka Ba
Kung Mangarap Ka't Magising
Bayaning Third World
Itim
Kisapmata
Sister Stella L.
I like to compare him to Stanley Kubrick (my opinion), he did only a few movies, each one of different genre - as if saying, this is how to do an action movie (Batch 81), political drama (Sister stella L), romantic comedy (kung mangarap ka't magising) musical (kakabakaba ka ba) and so on.
Lino Brocka's
Tinimbang Ka Ngunit Kulang
Maynila sa Kuko g Liwanag
etc
-

Why not :) the movie is under Parental Guidance... ang pamagat naman ng movie ay "Pagdadalaga ni Maximo Olivares"... magandang movie ito para imulat ang isang batang 12-14 (12-18) years old sa kung ano ang tama o mali... :):):)
malamang lamang at siguradong di ko papayagan manood ang anak ko kung ang pamagat niyan ay ang "Ang Pakikipagtalik (o Pakikipagrelasyon) ni Maximo Olivares" :):):)

Deathrow and Markova before you're 14?
I just checked and Deathrow was rated R-18 so I updated my post.

Definitely RPG Metanoia. Should be seen more by everyone.
Kakabakaba ka ba? by Mike De Leon (I think I saw this on TV when I was 14. And while I was a little shocked about the priests using addictive communion bread, no harm done)
Shake Rattle and Roll 1-- the manananggal part is a great adventure for a teenager!
Those black and white Sampaguita classics starring Gloria Romero and Dolphy like Dalagang Ilocana (if you can get a copy)are just pure fun!
-
That's the challenge. Most of the very best Filipino films I'd show to someone above 14.
-
The next challenge is finding these movies :)
-
Meron ba ditong taga Southern California gusto makipag trade ng movies? Madami ako VHS films. Gusto ko sana ng Atsay, 'Merika, Agila, Takaw Tukso, etc. PM me. :)

P.S. My answer to this question:

When you mentioned the Mongol leader i thought it must be a Panchito or Dolphy hit.
