With DC filling up TV with lots of series based on their comic book properties, what's one more? Announced last year, TNT is developing a live-action series based on DC's Teen Titans; the title was formerly called Titans, but is now being referred to as Blackbirds. The pilot, which is being co-written by Akiva Goldsman, includes a line-up featuring Nightwing, Oracle, Raven, Starfire, Hawk & Dove. Casting is supposed to be announced this summer.
Recently, TNT head Kevin Reilly has issued an update regarding the series:
"I sat down with Akiva and said — and he ultimately agreed — that the [TV] landscape right now is well-serviced on the superhero front. So what space is this going to inhabit? And really what he wants to do is be very true [to the source material]. [It] was a groundbreaking property when it first started.
There were consequences to things that happened; it wasn't somebody died and they moved on. There was the first superhero to be an addict [in Roy Harper's Speedy]. It's a coming-of-age story for Robin, who feels like Batman has betrayed him. I think it's going to end up being a very, very interesting offering. I think it's going to be excellent."
-
What, no Beast-Boy or Cybiorg?
-
While the TNT deal didn't push through, Titans is still going forward; the live-action Teen Titans series will now be one of the launch series of a new Warner Bros and DC Entertainment streaming service that will debut in 2018.
Titans will now involve production and writing duties from the creative team of Greg Berlanti, Akiva Goldsman, Geoff Johns, and Sarah Schechter. The series follows a group of young soon-to-be superheroes recruited from every corner of the DC Universe, where Dick Grayson emerges from the shadows to become the leader of a fearless band of new heroes that includes Starfire, Raven and others.

What, no Beast-Boy or Cybiorg?
Just guessing, but maybe because the effects work required will be too expensive for the series' allotted budget....hehe....

Brenton Thwaites is Robin in Live-Action Titans
DC Entertainment has announced that the cast of their live-action Titans series has found its leading man with Brenton Thwaites (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, Gods of Egypt) set to play Dick Grayson, aka Robin, in the upcoming series.
“Dick Grayson is one of the most important and iconic heroes in the DC universe, and it wasn’t easy to find him but we have,” executive producer Geoff Johns said. “Brenton has the emotional depth, heart, danger and physical presence of Batman’s former protege and the Titans’ future leader. We’re extremely lucky he’s chosen to bring his talents to this project and this character.”

‘Titans’: Alan Ritchson Cast As Hawk In DC Live-Action Series
Alan Ritchson is set as Hawk in the new live-action series Titans, from Greg Berlanti, Akiva Goldsman, Geoff Johns, Sarah Schechter and Warner Bros TV, which is slated to premiere in 2018 as part of the inaugural slate of a new DC-branded direct-to-consumer digital service.
Ritchson will play Hawk, aka Hank Hall, one half of the crime-fighting, vigilante and romantic couple of Hawk and Dove. The perfect example of opposites attract, Hawk is an aggressive, offensive bruiser, while Dove is strategic, defensive and lithe. The role is recurring, with an option to become a regular in Season 2. I hear the producers also are exploring a potential Hawk and Dove spinoff series down the road.

Ryan Potter is Beast Boy in Titans Live-Action Series
DC Entertainment has announced that actor Ryan Potter has joined the cast of the live-action Titans series in the role of Beast Boy. This isn’t Potter’s first forray into superheroes, however, as he voiced Hiro Hamada in the Big Hero 6 animated film and its upcoming television series.
As a child, Garfield “Gar” Logan contracted the lethal disease, Sakutia, while on an African expedition with his geneticist parents. Treated with an experimental drug, Gar survived but not without developing some bizarre side effects. Along with skin and hair turning permanently green, the wisecracking, fun-loving Beast Boy is able to reshape himself into any animal of any size he can imagine.

Chella Man Joins Titans Season 2 as Deathstroke’s Son Jericho Wilson
Following the recent addition of Esai Morales as Deathstroke, DC Entertainment has announced that 20 year-old model and social media influencer Chella Man has signed on to portray the role of Deathstroke’s son Jericho Wilson in the upcoming second season of DC Universe’s Titans. Man gained recognition through posting videos and blogs on Social Media as he openly spoke about his gender transition and what its like living as a deaf, genderqueer, Chinese and Jewish young adult.
Season 2 will mark Man’s acting debut. His official character description reads:
“Son of the infamous DC villain Deathstroke (played by Esai Morales), Joseph Wilson is the Titan known as Jericho. Mute after his father failed to rescue him from having his vocal cords severed by assassins, Jericho has the unique ability to possess anyone just by making eye contact. This gentle natured yet proud hero has proven himself a formidable Titan.”
In the comics, Jericho has the power to take control over any humanoid beings he can make eye contact with. He can control his target’s voluntary motor functions and can speak through the host’s body while he/she is unconscious.

DC Universe’s Titans Lands Iain Glen as Bruce Wayne
A Game of Thrones star is trading Westeros for Gotham City. Iain Glen, who plays the long-suffering former spy Jorah Mormont on the HBO epic, has just been cast as Bruce Wayne in the second season of the DC Universe original series Titans.
According to Deadline, the Titans producers describe the role as a much different take on the Caped Crusader’s alter ego. “After decades of fighting crime as Batman, billionaire Bruce Wayne is just as driven to protect Gotham from evil as he was in his prime. Needing to reconcile his relationship with Dick Grayson, the duo hope to forge a new dynamic as Bruce tries to help his former sidekick and the Titans achieve success.”

Titans Season 3 Will Finally Introduce Barbara Gordon
In a live-stream Q&A session on Facebook Live, Titans director and cinematographer Boris Mojovski had addressed the rumors about a new character that will be introduced in the upcoming third season of DC Universe’s superhero series. Mojovski has officially confirmed the rumor, revealing that fan-favorite DC character Barbara Gordon a.k.a Batgirl/Oracle will indeed be making her debut in the first episode of Titans Season 3. This revelation comes four months after the series had debuted their second season finale in November.
Mojovski had also teased that the series will be returning to Gotham. “The season should have, in a good way, many resemblances of the first season and some cool emotional stuff from the second season.”
In the comics, Barbara Gordon is known as the daughter of Gotham City police commissioner James Gordon. Created by artists William Dozier, Julius Schwartz and Carmine Infantino, she made her debut as Batgirl in 1967’s Detective Comics Issue No. 359. Later on, Batgirl started working together with Batman and fellow teen Robin/ Dick Grayson. However, after she was shot by The Joker in the spine, she temporarily retired as Batgirl and went on to assumed the identity of Oracle. Barbara is also famously known for having an on/off relationship with Dick Grayson, who later became Nightwing.

It was revealed during DC FanDome that Titans Season 3 will introduce none other than Red Hood, Barbara Gordon, and Scarecrow into its universe.

Yes, of all the Robins, Jason Todd was the reckless one and the "pasaway." But I can't believe the writers made Jason Todd be the bad guy here. I don't buy it that he is being drugged and manipulated and went this far with the killings and Batman not doing something about it.

‘Titans,’ ‘Doom Patrol’ Ending on HBO Max
Titans and Doom Patrol, the DC Comics dramas that were originally developed to help launch the former DC Universe streaming service, are coming to an end.
The current fourth seasons of both of the Greg Berlanti-produced HBO Max dramas will be their last, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter. Sources say producers on both Titans and Doom Patrol saw the writing on the wall amid all the changes with DC Entertainment and plotted their current seasons with proper endings so as to not leave fans in a lurch.
