Shay Mitchell and Liza Soberano will voice Alexandra Trese in the Netflix original anime series Trese, based on the Philippine graphic novel.
Netflix is adapting Budjette Tan and KaJO Baldisimo's Philippine graphic novel, Trese, into an original anime series headlined by Filipino actor Liza Soberano (My Ex and Whys, Alone/Together) and Filipino-Canadian actress Shay Mitchell (YOU, Pretty Little Liars).
Soberano will voice Alexandra Trese in the Filipino language version of the series, with Mitchell voicing the lead character in the English version.
"As a fan of the komiks, I knew that the title role of Alexandra Trese was going to be challenging to cast for the animated series," executive producer Jay Oliva (Wonder Woman, The Legend of Korra) said in a statement. "It is important for the voice talent to embrace the layered character to fully become Alexandra Trese. My concerns went away as soon as Shay Mitchell stepped into the recording booth. Shay's Alexandra exceeded my expectations and she delivers a performance of strength, determination and family duty that is at the very core of the character. If that wasn't enough, imagine my delight when we confirmed Liza Soberano joining the Filipino voice cast! I am a big fan of hers and she fits the character so well. Having Liza play Alexandra Trese for the series makes this project even more special to me and my team!"
A description of Trese reads: "Set in a Manila where the mythical creatures of Philippine folklore live in hiding amongst humans, Alexandra Trese finds herself going head to head with a criminal underworld comprised of malevolent supernatural beings."
Trese premieres later this year on Netflix.

I was listening to the Tagalog dub and was so happy that it wasn't cringey at all. I will watch this in local language first, then in English, then in Japanese which I heard someone say was awesome as well based on the Japanese trailer. Then I will have it on repeat for as long as Netflix exists as a company.

Liked it, especially the establishing shots of the city. Hope lots of fans are enticed to read the books
Pinagsama-sama nila yung ibang stories. At iniba ang main villain.
However...
Ending was too talky. Haba ng monologue. Too static. Budget constraints kaya? Tsaka daming flashback. Kinda reminded me of the first wonder woman movie.

Looks good. Though, it seems to be heavily influenced by Blood (The Last Vampire) or its spinoffs.

may edit (script) mistake lang akong napansin. Sabi ni Maliksi sa isang episode na "You can not kill a ghost"
pero sa episode 1 palang alam natin ang nangyari

I tried watching the episodes with different audio and prefer the Japanese then the Filipino and the last the English audio. Soberano should have done the English audio instead of the Filipino. Hindi natural yung flow nang pagkakabigkas niya. Na master na ng Japanese ang voice acting kaya parang at home ka na kagaad lalo na kung sanay ka na manood ng anime with Japanese audio, English one was bad, VAs trying talk like Filipinos that speak English.
Overall, in the end may mga anime tropes pa din, like long monologue and flashbacks. Animation was above average pero parang uneven hindi consistent.

Watched Trese After Party after finishing the series... Focus was on the creators/producers and Liza Soberano. A bit disappointing Shay was only featured in a short video.

Finally able to snag volumes 1-3 of the graphic novel. Will read those first before I watch the series.
