According to the Ayala Malls website, there will be another Midnight Madness Sale at the end of August. I hope Astro SM Makati joins this sale with lots of new titles included.

Yup, Astro is joining; I was at Astroplus SM Makati last Saturday night and the guy at the counter told me about the sale happening at the end of August. :)

Went to Astro Glorietta yesterday. And my suking sales lady at the counter said that there will be a Sale on August 31 to September 2. No list yet on what's included in the sale.

Not really... It's called midnight madness because it ENDS at midnight. But it doesn't start at 10 pm. For the past Midnight Madness sales, it always started at store opening, which is 10 am.

There is an astro in glorietta near landmark
There is also one in SM makati 3rd floor. .
As for must have titles it really depends on what type movies you like. Im sure the price on sale days are cheaper than regular days (most of the time)

What a sucky sale! Nothing new for me. No new Magna & Viva titles at Php 333 & 299 marked down prices. Some Magna titles that were slashed down to Php 333 or 299 in the Podium sale, remain in the Buy 1 Take 1 Php 895 level. Warner's more generous, though. Many titles were brought down to sale prices similar to the latest Podium sale. But there weren't as many titles as in the Podium sale. This is true for both Astro SM Makati and Glorietta. Pathetic DVD sale at Tower Records. No sale at all in the SM Makati record bar and Odyssey Park Square 1. Haven't gone to the Landmark record bar and O Music Video in Greenbelt 1, so I can't report on those.
I only bought Empire of the Sun & L.A. Confidential at Php 199 each.
Also bought Pathfinder (Extended Edition) from SM Makati record bar at full price, Php 550.

Astro is in the 2nd floor of Glorietta right before you enter the door leading to landmark ( left side ). Try to look for Shawshank Redemption 10th anniversary edition 2 disc @P275. Pag nakita mo, get it! Usually Warner 2 discs ar priced at P350 or even higher for good titles & new releases. And Shawshank is a classic must have film. Diyan ko rin nabili yun copy ko. Good luck!!!

Coming so close to the Podium Sale, I was not expecting anything new. But still, Magnavision stucked to its Buy-One, Take One, instead of 333/299, that's a downer.
I planned to go earlier today but decided against it. Looks like it was a good decision. Thanks for the quick info, Allanmandy.

Wait! I spoke too soon! I went back to Astro SM Makati after lunch (was there earlier at around 11 am), and lady luck came in the form of a representative overseeing the Magna sales in the video stores in Ayala. Together with an Astro saleslady, we convinced her to call her boss and ask that the Buy 1 Take 1 Php 895 titles be slashed down to Php 333. Guess what?! The Magna boss gave in, so partly thanks to yours truly, those titles can now be bought at a cheaper price! Of course I bought some of those titles, but there's plenty other titles left, so don't worry. I'll post my new purchases later, from my desktop PC (am posting this through my cellphone). The lovely Magna lady then proceeded to Asto Glorietta, also to inform them about the new sale inclusions.
By the way, the SM Makati is also having a mini-sale of mostly Viva and Warner titles. Not as abundant as the Astro sales, but it's only in the SM Makati record bar sale (2nd floor, near McDonald's) where Night At The Museum (Amaray, non-lenticular cover) can be bought at Php 299.
Sorry again if my earlier post dissuaded some of you from going. I guess I was there too early and that the Astro personnel were still clueless as to what titles will be included in the sale. So let me backtrack on my earlier, sulky statement by saying that the Ayala sale is GREAT!!! Hurry now before stocks are depleted!

Thanks for this new development!! By any chance, did you notice if Munich and Children of Men are included in the sale? Although I don't see them in the buy one take one promo, I'm just wishing upon the dvd gods that they are !!!

i was only able to get one dvd from the sale. I didn't actually have anything in mind to buy when i went there today. I was browsing though the shelves and found a copy of the regular high school musical for 299. Thing is, it was a R1 disc so i took it home with me. I don't know if that was a good buy but it's definitely better than the local viva copy. ;D

I didn't go to the sale and still not planning to. I pretty much got most of those title on sale (that I liked) in previous sales at either 333 or BuyOne-Take One. The titles I am planning to buy will not go on sale at least until October (guesswork) as they are mostly releases in the past two months.

Dirty Dancing is Region 3 bro, misprint lang yung nakalagay na region 1 dun sa likod... but still, sulit na sulit pa rin, DVD9 both disc and DTS-ES pa :)

I managed to peek at the titles availabe at Landmark DVD/CD section and I am quite surprised of the titles they have in stock which I do not see at Astro anymore, especially the 299's and box sets. You just have to dig into their piles of DVD's. ;)

The Entourage boxsets on sale were Season 2 & Season 3 Part 1. I got those from the podium sale last August @ P350. The Entourage Season 1 is now out of stock but the kind people of SM Astroplus promised that they will let me know if they have stock already. It's not a boxset though but a double disc copy just like Grey's Anatomy Season 1. Incidentally, the Grey's Anatomy Season 1 was on sale @P299 a couple of weeks ago at Robinson's Galleria Department Store and Tower Records Mega mall. I think there are still copies on sale.
