Panasonic X30 review (42/50)
DVD:
Being a 720p native model, again these entry level models from Panasonic does wonders for DVD. Pictures are crisp with vibrant colors, and we did not see any pixel breaks or motion blurs during high speed scenes. Black level for now, remains solid and stable with no hints of contrast fluctuations. However, long term black stability is something we could never test with "showroom set" review environments.
Blu-Ray/NMT/High-Def:
True high definition materials really shine on High-def TVs, despite being a "mere 720p" plasma...The X30 dazzles with very well laid blu-ray pictures from a PS3. Colors are for the most part are accurate, with no bleeds and overly zealous reds (Yes, I'm looking straight at you Samsung plasma ;)). As usual, Panasonic plasma models do not have problems with motion handling, enabling the X30 to handle all sorts of high def movies with very little to no issues at all.
Console gaming:
Input response time has never been an issue with Panasonic and the X30 is no exception! You can play input sensitive games like Marvel vs Capcom 3 with pin point accuracy, and you don't have to worry about lags you'd usually get with slower TVs.
The downside:
After all those nice words for the X30, allow me to relay my gripe/s and I do believe its a fair observation:
We did not or we hardly saw any difference between the X30 and the older X20
The X30 is almost like an exact clone of the X20 in terms of picture quality! Making me say that the X30 is like an X20 in a new TV housing and a big "Boooooo" to Panasonic for not offering anything substantially new on their 720p entry level line.
Don't get me wrong, the X30 is a very good looking and well performing plasma TV that beats most or nearly all entry level models along with their formats out there. But if you're like me, who tends to jump from one model year after year with great anticipation of change - You'll be disappointed!
-conclusion to follow-
-
Thanks again for the professional-quality review!
I'll wait for the conclusion ...
-
im choosing between this tv and that of samsung d450 and lg 350. What would make me go for this TV since this is more expensive than samsung and lg?
inputs are greatly appreciated.
-
@barrister
Thanks partner ;)
On to the conclusion:
Pros
+Very good dvd picture quality
+Great true high definition picture performance despite being "just" a 720p native TV
+Superb viewing angles
+Very good screen uniformity (no clouds and overly bright screen areas)
+Spot on input response time for games
+Very well priced
Cons
-Reflective screen
-Green phosphor lag during high contrast scenes
-An X20 clone in a new suit
The Panasonic X30 is a great cost effective (entry level) plasma that beats most FULLHD (1080p) native screens in the very competitive budget segment of the market. What you get is a no frills, very straight to the point TV, with very credible picture performance for both upscaled and true high definition formats.
If this is your first foray into the world of high definition, then the X30 is probably your best four wheels and a seat. Coming off with a very attractive price, to set your journey right without blowing off your wallet! And the need to trim juniors tuition fee to get your movie fix ;D
But for those of you who already own the older C10 and X20 models, I seriously doubt you'd need to upgrade to the X30. That is...in my very honest opinion - Just a lame rehash of the old without giving us something truly new.
Other 2011 models are on the way like the FULLHD U30 and the 3-D G30, and I do hope they are not mere re-skinned U20's and V20's.
Panasonic's motto of having "ideas for life" rockets off as "running out of ideas for life" with this particular model in the area of product innovation.

May paraan ba para mabawasan ang pagiging reflective ng panel nito,..?
Well aside sa pagbabago ng lighting ng room,...
A friend of mine bought an LCD instead, dahil nakikita nga daw nya ang sarili nya sa screen,
ganun daw ka-reflective ang screen ng mga bagong panels na ito...
too bad...
-
i doubt mababawasan mababawasan yan.. made for movie watching yan (aka cinema lightings).. (kasi mura)
ako may question: vga connection lang kasi ako from my laptop.. masama ba sa tv kung taasan ko yung refresh rate nito from 60 to 75 or 80hz?

Wala tsip! Lowering your lights will just lower the "reflectivity", to eliminate the issue, your lights should be totally off for the most part.
Para sa akin tsip! Gusto ko ng reflective panel mas glossy yung pic ;)
A big thanks to Sights and Sounds for allowing us to review the panel!

sir carlo777,
can you make a comparison between this tv and the sammy 51d450 and the lgw350? im having a hard time choosing between the three. your inputs would make things easier as i find your reviews very insightful.
thanks.
-
Worth it kaya to upgrade from 42C10 -> TH-50X30?
-
@Oloap
Enough to say that I find the Samsung model a bit reddish, while the LG looks a bit pale against the X30 in a dark room environment.
@eoman
If you're going for the size, then it's an ok upgrade.
@rest
Sorry for the super slow PM reply, been very very busy these past few days.
-
Thanks Carlo. Sent u pm regarding the rest of my queries. My apology for taking a few of your time.

This is my first plasma, and 2nd flat TV next to an LG 42LH70.
All I can think about now is, "I should have bought a plasma to begin with" :P

yup. nothing beats plasma pagdating sa movies :-0
-
A gaming videocard set to 1080P, would a plasma 720p able to produce a presentable display? Is it possible that my desktop display resolution would scale down? and in turn will have large icons and fonts on my screen.

Thanks and regards sir...

Does this model have PIP feature?

To those who are worried about the rising black level issue on Panny's 2009 and 2010 plasmas, the good news is that it has been reported that Panasonic fixed the problem for the 2011 models.
Cnet editor David Katzmaier reports:
http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-20066427-1/panasonic-plasma-black-levels-no-longer-worsen/?tag=contentMain;contentBody
I had been advising friends to wait until Panny fixes this problem before buying. But with this reported fix for 2011, plus sir Carlo's positive review, I'm now confident enough to recommend the X30 to friends who are looking for an entry-level plasma.
However, they're still worried about the glossy screen. I have to explain that a glossy screen will have reflections, but a matte screen will produce light blacks and pale colors.
=======================
Here's my 2009 post on the subject:
For TVs, the discussions are more one-sided, limited to an aversion for reflections. But for laptops, there's a more balanced debate going on concerning glossy vs. matte; however, there are more users who prefer matte screens for laptops.
Related article on the issue of reflectivity for Mac notebooks:
Glossy or Not?
With the exception of the MacBook Pro, all of Apple’s notebooks are available exclusively with a glossy display. The benefit of a glossy display is an improved contrast ratio but the downside is it reflects more ambient light, particularly when you have an unusually strong light source (e.g. sitting in front of a window or being outside with the Sun).
With the MacBook Pro you have the option of either a glossy or anti-glare display, the question that remains is: which should you choose?
As you’d expect, the decision really falls upon your intended use for the notebook. Indoors, the glossy display was much nicer in my opinion. Blacks appeared blacker and the screen was much more pleasant to look at:

Matte screen (left) vs. Glossy (right)
http://www.anandtech.com/showdoc.aspx?i=3246&p=9
In fact, I even managed to convince our flat panel review master Carlo777 to change his mind about matte screens ;):
This was a post made by barrister about the advantage of a "reflective" screen, and probably one of my favorite post out there.
Now, I love glossy reflective screens and honestly, I may not get a T.V with a super anti-reflective screen coating in the future. ;)

I bought my Dad a Panasonic 42X30 last Saturday, July 16 from Sir Vic and SnS and I must say, for the moment, I am his favorite son. :P ;D ;D ;D
Once again, Sir Carlo777's review put me over the top (and the great price of Sir Vic naturally) and bought this gorgeous TV.
Even though sir Carlo777's opinion of this TV is that it was the same as last year's 42X20, I thought that the added feature of a USB media player (this is almost becoming mandatory on all TV's) and option for WiFi connectivity would put this way over 42X20. But then, it was Carlo777's review of the 42X20 that made me buy that TV in the first place. :D
I think I should just refrain from reading Sir Carlo777's reviews. I'm running out of money! :P

Encountering a problem on the x30 USB slot. It plays avi files but after a while the image gets distorted. I pressed fast forward for about 5 secs then it stops. AlmIt's all my avi files are like that when played thru x30 but if I play on my computer ok naman. Help
-
sir do u have p42x30s, ano po diff sa p42x30 ? ty
-
Pareho lang ang P42X30S sa P42X30.
The letter "S" is a country code which stands for "Singapore."
-
@carlo777
Thanks for the review dude, i just noticed when i wen to sns. the color, if not the black level on the x30 looks lighter? or is it just me? They have an x20 also running, it was richer in color compared to the x30.
I am deciding kasi on which model to get. ang plus sa x30 is the added usb playability and net things, which i will rarley use hahaha
help sa input guys
-
@adonph
did they have the lights on? It's hard to appreciate plasma w/ lots of ambient light.
When I was there, I had them turn off the lights to appreciate the PQ. Needless to say, I went home with an x30 :)
-
@miguel
Thank for the reply dude, yes i had them turn of the lights also. i noticed that the color was a little bit "hilaw" sir vic also mentioned that the color sa x20 is bit richer. aside from that all almost the same.
hows the x30 sa gaming? any idea?
for movies alam ko ok siya.
Thanks for your reply
-
@barrister
Boss your input on the "reflectivity" issue is the best info I got during my whole stay in PDVD! I dig reflective screens now! You're the man! You're my brother from another mother!
@otep72
Got your PM! Let's spend more boss! Johnny and I hang around in SnS usually Saturday 5pm. We'll show you how to throw away some ham! ;D
@adonph
X30 is cool for gaming! Near zero input and pixel response time!
-
I have both. One glaring difference is when channel surfing when watching cable tv. X30 is faster to switch between channels. X20 has lag. ;D
-
@carlo777
Thanks for the input, is the break in still applicable to this model? did you guys notice the black level? when i saw it sa sns parang lacking sa color. Or ako lang yun?
I am deciding within the week to make an upgrade.
Will appreciate inputs, thanks

panong hilaw? if less saturated sya. i think that might be good, coz x20 has over-saturated colors and crapty greyscale out of the box, but correctable..
-
@scorpionzero
Its like kulang yung colors, parang faded. is it possible because of the panel?
hirap decide guys hahaha
-
@scorpionzero

hmmm, how was it compared to x20? the best way to compare them is to have them set both tv to cinema mode then contrast=70 colortemp=warm tapos ask them to play a scene that have lots of greens and reds.
tpos check for accuracy, green that is close to natural green but not bluish green (x20 green is kinda bluish even in cinema mode) then red should not overpower the whole picture (x20 has overly reddish greyscale).
(greyscale is correctable in the service menu)
never trust dynamic mode, it looks good in stores but not at home.
-
@scorpionzero
Thanks for the advice, will be going back to sns later. naka dynamic mode sila nung natry namin.
I checked it out sa listening room, weird ok naman yung x30. syempre beside pioneer iba talaga haha.
but it was good there, sa sns parang light masyado yung colors.
hirap magdecide hehehe

ang pangit ng dynamic, I never use it. True cinema palagi. Siguro what I would suggest is to give it a really good few minutes of watching, so that your eyes could adjust sa levels of color and blacks.
-
guys,
thanks for your help on the x30, i finally made the purchase. i put it in true cinema, question though i was playing book of eli, do you guys know the first scenes where in denzel was walking sa road and then the guys ambushed him? in that scene there are a lot of clouds, some of theme have green layers. normal ba yun?
-

btw hows "true cinema" compared to "cinema" mode? ang alam ko lang ksi is that gamma has an s curve that goes from 2.1 to 2.2 dynamically in "true cinema" .. i dont have that option sa x20 but im curious.
-
Question- bakit wala pumapansin sa th-p50u20 full hd plasma model? Pangit ba reviews? Mahal ba? does the x30 trump this in all aspects?
-
guys which would you choose? L42U20 Full HD LCD or P42X30 HD Ready Plasma?
-
If you will be watching movies most of the time, then go with the 42X30. Plasma is still the way to go when it comes to picture quality and motion handling. plus, you get extra features like built-in media player and LAN connectivity.
-
guys which would you choose? L42U20 Full HD LCD or P42X30 HD Ready Plasma?
pag LCD kasi hindi masyadong pinapansin ang panasonic, main line nila is plasma.
-
42X20 is P29500. with FREE wall bracket. Without wall bracket, 42X20 is P28K. :D
Buy TV at Sights and Sounds and win grand prize of All-New Volvo S60 Sports Sedan 2011 model from Shangri-La Plaza.
hello sir vic,
eto pa din ba price point nya ngayon?may 50' version ba to?thanks. :)
-
pag LCD kasi hindi masyadong pinapansin ang panasonic, main line nila is plasma.
bakit nga kaya samantalang pag tingin mo sa catalog nila , puro IPS panel ang LCDs nila. sumusugal pa ang marami sa ibang brand with ips panels gayung Panasonic explicitly state na IPS ang panel nila.
-
i think because each brand has their own picture engine that drives the panel to produce brilliant pictures on screen, and highly rated brands according to cnet such as samsung and sony are few of the best out there (high-end ones).
-
mga sir mgkano updated price nito sa SnS?Planning to buy this baby on Aug19@SnS...
-
Hi all,
just bought 42x30 last saturday at SnS, is the break in still applicable to this model?
-
the specs of the x30 said it had a built-in HD tuner. I wonder if this means this tv is able to receive GEMTV.
-
Just to confirm, can this unit (TH-P42X30) play MKV files in the USB port? And since it has Optical Out, does it stream DTS and DD audio?
-

The specs are country/region-dependent. Not all get an HD tuner (and HD tuners come in different types too).

yes, plays mkv.

Tingin nyo ba okay lang ito gamitin for PS3 Gaming?
-
Tingin nyo ba okay lang ito gamitin for PS3 Gaming?
As Carlo said in his review, no problem for gaming. Mine is an old C10 and I don't find any issues playing PS3 on it. :)
-
Might get it this on the 10th. Kelangan pa ba ng BURN-IN?
-

Unless you want to destroy your tv, you do mean BREAK IN right? ;D
-
Sorry, kinda new. :) May PIP ba itong model na ito?
-
Sorry, kinda new. :) May PIP ba itong model na ito?
Not sure about PIP. As for breaking in a unit. It is recommended but not a must. Break in does not guarantee prevention of Burn in issues.
-
wanna share your display settings of your 42X30 and 50X30?
kindly post it here :

many thanks.. :)
Cheers!.. :)
-
how is this compared to samsung ps51d450?
-
I just bought TH-P42X30, apparently it can play MKV and MP4 HD but it doesnt support DTS and MPEG AAC audio.
Anybody can hack or is there a way to support these audio formats?

how do you set-up the cable with this TV without using SkyCable's Digibox? kinabit ko directly sa Cable-in the 42x30 yung sky but walang masagap na signal.
-
what is the power consumption of the 42x30?
-

I dont think you can directly setup you cable channels without the digibox from skycable. The cable signals are "scrambled" or encoded and you need the digibox to decode these signals.
This implementation of the digibox was to eliminate illegal cable "extensions/connections".
So your setup will be .... CABLE ---> DIGIBOX ---> 42x30 (scan mo na lang yung signal from the CABLE menu usually channel #3 yan)
-

actually you pwede pa rin sir. yung ang ginawa ko dun sa 32x10 ko na lcd since sira yung digibox ko ngayon and while di pa naaayos ng skycable direct dun sa TV yung cable and pwede naman. don't know why it's not working with this plasma.
-

wow. Talaga? You are able to get sky cable signals directly on your 32x10 without the digibox? hmmm Cant figure it out why this would be the case. Kasi alam ko the main purpose of the digibox is to decode & authorize the cable signals coming in the digibox and into your tv.
Anyways, am glad it works on your 32x10.
-
could it be that the 32x10 has a HD digital tuner?
-
wala naman digital tuner bro. it also works on my sister's EX300 pag direct sa TV yung cable and hindi dumaan sa digibox. same din sa barkada ko na may 32c10. yun lang nga wala yung ibang channels like yung History channel wala pag hindi dumaan sa digibox.
-
Good day mga Gurus and Pany X30 owners, (dont know if this is the right thread but I know you guys can help because on your first hand experience on this brand/model) plano ko po kasi bumili ng tv this second week of september. I'll be using it 40/60 movies/cable viewing. My only problem is most of my favorite programs/channels and HD movies has 1inch black bars above and below the screen (I do watch cable programs mostly 2-3 hrs a day on a single channel and sometimes 5 hrs straight, using digibox). Is it still advisable for me to choose plasma panels, particularly this brand and model, despite of my case? Am I prone to image retention and burn-in? Please enlighten me ???
-
for local cable viewing nothing beats plasma except crt :-) just break-in the tv then you should be ok. my old p42c10 only knows one channel (kapamilya) and so far wala naman image retention problem. lagpas 2yrs na rin ata yun. yung x30 is more or less the same.
-
yep pwede naman talaga walang digibox kulang nga lng ng channel pero it still works since same pa rin naman na cable ang source.
-
I'm planning to get a 2nd tv and seriously considering the pana 42x30.
I was able to canvas a unit in vmall 3rd level for 25k with 1year pana phils warraty
Am not really in a hurry or rush to get this as I'm still waiting for a slightly lower price... Sana in the 24k range... Wait mode pa ng konti. I hope SnS can match that price kasi I'm more comfortable dealing with sir Vic.
Really impressed by it's excellent PQ over other displays.
Exited na ako to use it as my htpc display.
-
Pahingi lang ng advise mga sir, I am thinking of buying a new plasma to replace my 42PV80. Is this tv worth the change or is there any other bang for the buck tv that i can look forward to? ;)
-
ok ba ito for ps3 gaming? mga 70% ang gamit ko ng tv for gaming. share naman kayo diyan sa mga gamer using this model. pinagpipilian ko kasi 51d450 or 50x30. sabi kasi ni sir vic,mas ok parin daw ang lcd for gaming. so i'm confused either i'll get an lcd/led or plasma.... tsk tsk!!! thanks
-

I suggest get a 50" Plasma, if you are going to maintain 42", get the one that is 3D capable.

ok ba ito for ps3 gaming? mga 70% ang gamit ko ng tv for gaming. share naman kayo diyan sa mga gamer using this model. pinagpipilian ko kasi 51d450 or 50x30. sabi kasi ni sir vic,mas ok parin daw ang lcd for gaming. so i'm confused either i'll get an lcd/led or plasma.... tsk tsk!!! thanks
If 70% gaming, get lcd or led preferably with motion control (digital natural motion).
-
If 70% gaming, get lcd or led preferably with motion control (digital natural motion).
thank you sir for the reply. well i guess siguro lcd or led nalang ang bibilin ako. gusto ko kasi nasa 46 to 51 inches sana ang mabili ko, kaya i'm eyeing to get a plasma kasi affordable at medyo tight ang budget ko. at saka, kaya ko din sana gusto ng plasma kasi hindi siya nakakapagod sa mata kahit matagal kang nakatutok sa screen. BUT.. since maraming nag sasabi na mas ok DAW ang lcd for gaming, so now nalilito parin ako what particular model ang magandang bilin.. SAMSUNG? SONY? LG?
PANASONIC ang leader when it comes to plasma.
any suggestion? thanks ulit ;D

Bought 50x30 from SnS, arrived yesterday. All I can say is "ayos!". Shout out to Arthur of SnS. He was patient enough during the selection stage, gave honest opinions and was not pushy at all, not like those other salesman from other stores that keeps on pushing you to buy even though they don't know crap about their products. Thanks sir vic for another smooth transaction

Sony is sometimes faulted to having pictures that are not very sharp, but in fairness to Sony, it has the most eye-friendly PQ among brands.
The not-as-sharp comments are usually the result of Sony having natural-like colors compared to other brands that have boosted colors that is attractive when you see it in display shelves of stores.
the bad thing about Sony from what I read is that they use VA panel daw instead of the IPS panels that are popular among some consumers.
Don't know kung totoo.
Good thing about panny is they advertise and put in the specs of their TV that they use IPS panels (though not clear whether S-IPS, H-IPS, etc.)
LG, Sony and Samsung have two years warranty
Panasonic and Toshiba: one year warranty

gotta agree with natural-like colors, and the not so sharp resolution is because of the absence of "edge enhancements" (gives artificial sharpness) that other manufacturers have.
good thing about sony that i can tell you is, it looks good inside the shops display, and if you take one home it still looks as good compare to other brands.

Yeah, how to break in?
-
On breaking in the Pana 42x30:
correct me if I'm wrong. to break in the settings of your plasma is first set the picture mode to let say, normal mode. then decrease the default settings to 5 or 10, (e.g brightness is set to 50 lower it down to 45 or 40 etc...) then have these settings for at least 100 hours. after this, the next time you change the settings you will notice the big difference in PQ when you decrease or increase the settings. At these stage, you can now set your preferred viewing settings.
Well hope this helps. or please suggest your inputs.
Kindly post your best display settings for this model, I'll post mine after break in.
thanks. ;)

how do you break in the X30?
Thinking of getting this to replace my 6month old U20...I know that PQ of PAnny Plasma is better than LCD...the reflective screen was what initially turned me off but since I mostly watch in the ark...I dont think it'll be that much of a presence/disadvantage anymore.
Just want to know what to do before I take the plunge at the end of the month.
TIA guys...Cheers. ;D

does the 42x30 has an optical out that I can plug in the optical input of an HTIB?

bro anya, i got the older Full HD version of the U30...because I didnt want a reflective screen.
But after side by side comparison of these 2 newer models, X30 is king!!! Kahit na 720p lang native res nya...the difference is overwhelming.
Best thing is to do a side by side...I'm now planning to replace my 42U20 with the 42X30.

For 42X30 owners, what is your viewing distance when watching cable tv? Read from online that HD materials 720p, 1080p, etc. viewers can sit closer. While SD materials (cable, etc.) would require sitting farther.
The space that I have is only 3.8 meters (wall to wall). Lets allocate up to .5 meters for TV clearance and rack. So lets says I have 3.0 + meters (fr Tv to wall). Will a 42" flat panel still be suitable (for cable TV viewing only)?
How's the performance of the 42X30 with cable viewing ? I'm deciding whether this is a worthy replacement to the CRT when it comes to TV/cable viewing only.
Thanks!

Well for the 42" it requires 9-10ft distane but since it's plasma it will not give too much stress to the eyes.

Hi guys. I'm a newbie here. I've been looking at the 42x30 and the Samsung 43d450 but I'm more inclined to buying the Panasonic. Just curious if this model already has the "anti burn in" feature? It doesn't say in the specs unlike the Samsung. Thanks for all the help.

if playing videos from usb , (let's say regular divx .avi files sized 700MB) does the video pixelate,
does it upscale ?
or is it the same as using a nmt (wdtv, popcorn, xtreamer, etc.) connected via hdmi
also.....
has anyone tested a mkv 720p sized averagely 5GB using USB . can it play the video smoothly ?
thank you.

Hi All,
We just had this model a couple of weeks ago and we're definitely loving it. So far, the only challenge I'm having is that whenever I'm playing high-definition files from a USB HDD plugged in to one of the USB ports, the video plays perfectly but without audio. If I play a standard definition file (DivX, AVI, etc.), the video plays with audio.
I checked the manual and it says this model supports MKVs and MP4s with the exception of MKVs with DTS sound. I checked its firmware and it's actually up-to-date based on this link: http://panasonic.jp/support/global/cs/tv/download/fw/down_aamo1.html (http://panasonic.jp/support/global/cs/tv/download/fw/down_aamo1.html). I really don't know what else I should check.
Does anyone here encountered an issue playing high-def movies from various sources? If ever I can't find a solution to this problem, I'm thinking of just converting the file into a different format which the plasma would accept (DivX, etc.). Should I decide to take the second route, what's the most compatible (HD, preferably) format this TV would accept? Ideas?
-
It can play MKV and MP4 HD but it doesnt support DTS and MPEG AAC audio.
If I were you, I'll get an NMT player or BD player that supports MKV/HD files

That's right.
Better let another device handle it. you'll enjoy the better quality and if you can connect it to a HT setup, you can enjoy the thicker and clearer sound.
Marami jan sa market place ranging from as cheap as 3k to as expensive as 15k.
-
Thanks for the responses. Well, that was my plan initially, but when I learned that this model can play HD movies then I thought I can skip buying an NMT. It turns out that I may not skip it at all. :D

Hi guys, magkano na po ba price nito ngaun sa SnS? may nakita kc ako 42X30S for Php25,000. Tska ano po ba difference nung may S sa dulo sa wala?

i bought a 42x30 last tuesday from SNS and i experienced some problems. ask ko lang sa mga 42x30 owners kung normal lang ba siya or what. i really need your help guys

I have the 50" rated at 240 watts
actual power consumption as follows:
50-75 watts on dark or indoor scenes
80-120 watts on daytime indoor/outdoor scenes
180-220 watts on bright scenes i.e movie title with white background
setting:
normal
contrast 65
brightness 55
colour 45
sharpness 55
eco off
vivid on
using ge power watt/cost meter
120 watts usage is additional P600 plus monthly ( 24 hours usage for 30 days )
:)
-
Thanks Sir xmetal.

To enter Service menu, hold down volume button on the tv and press recall or info button on the remote 3 times. On the service menu, press button 2 of the remote to select "SRV-TOOL" and press ok. To navigate, use the control keys, choose the PTCT and hold the mute button for 3 seconds and viola, it will display the # of hours used and # of times it was powered on/off.
-
Thanks sir mstkiel.
Pa update po dito kung nagawa mo na macheck yung unit mo using sir 2fast2furious' instruction.

wow thats already been running 24/7 for 314 days. kung demo unit running 12 hours a day...i'ts been running 629 days already....almost 2 years na. how many times was it turned on? what model/unit? is it an older model plasma? kasi kung bago it's impossible to incur usage of a recent model plasma kahit running 24 hrs. pa unless may error pero imposible mag error.
kung 4 mos. running lets say max of 8 hrs. a day dapa t less than 1,000 hrs pa lang yan.
i'm not sure about their demo unit policy pero kung ako papapalitan ko yan....for me it's already considered a 2nd hand unit kasi used na, they sold you a 2nd hand unit.....lugi ka diyan ;)

medyo nakakapagtaka yung usage niya. kasi 2011 model yung mga x30 diba? edi parang hindi pwede maging good for 2 years usage niya kasi 2011 lang lumabas. weird :))
-
39.5 K, I have no idea how to check the usage, paano ba ? thanks.
-
Thanks :D :D

If it comes sealed from factory, this is good, pero if you got it unsealed, may way kaya ang service to reset this back to zero? (not likely they do this but had to ask)

gentle reminder na magingat sa firmware upgrade, however unlikely, guard your power for spikes and better to do this in a UPS. once you start firmware writes, power must never fail.

Any improvements on the TV's media player? I think the updated software is geared towards improving the player...file compatibility perhaps?
Please let us know of any improvements or TV reactions to the updated software brother bosschix...
Thanks!

Sir Vic, I'm planning to purchase a 42x30 using my BDO credit card. I want to avail of their promo "BUY NOW PAY 2012" but i've been inquiring sa store personel mo about it and they said hindi pa daw available kasi hindi pa nakakabit ng mga taga BDO yung terminal. I hope it will be available na this week. Looking forward to buying this item from you. Thank you.

Wow.. 24k for the pana 42x30 plasma unit? And this was from SnS? That's already a pretty good and decent price considering this unit already about 6months in the market. One of the best value 42inch plasma in the market.
Hope to get a similar deal from SnS before Christmas.
Thanks for sharing.

Tagal mag asikaso ng BDO ng BUY NOW PAY 2012 nila sa SnS.

Sir, did you get your unit from bossing vic?
What i learned here is that viewing cable with LCD/LED and plasma is not that clear not unless you are using sky cable's digibox. Correct me if im wrong.
How's the overall performance of your unit sir?

Panasonic plasma tv is the best, you can watch hd movies up to 1080p, yung bd or dvd player must have upconversion to 1080p resolution, yung bd player sigurado yun sa dvd player depende sa brand/model at capabilities
Bili na at para sumaya holidays mo.

Yes. 24p is Very smooth indeed.

Has anybody tried wall-mounting the TH-P42X30? Mahirap po ba i-wall-mount? Mabigat po ba yung TV? :)
-
sirs, mga fellow x30 users, question lang tungkol sa optical output nitong plasma.,
im using a htib with one optical input., i would connect x30's optical directly to my htib.. Kung kakabitan ko ng media player,ps3 or any source thru hdmi, will the x30's optical audio out simply pass its original audio from hdmi? (ex. Dts input from hdmi, dts also from optical out.)
sorry medyo magulo hehehe..
TIA..

Share ko lang.
I was surprised to find a car accessories store in araneta ave near SM Centerpoint selling the Pana 42x30.
BNEW sealed unit and comes with 6months warranty only (parallel import kasi). Price was at 23k.
Really a good and low price for a BNEW Pana unit :)

Ang mura naman nito. Bought my 42x30 for 25.5k last october.. Meron bang 32" version nito. Masyado kasi malaki 42" inches pang room

Im having problems with my TH-P42X30, cant make the wireless LAN work using a wireless adapter. I have an Edimax WLAN adapter. Need advice. Thanks!
-
where can we buy the wireless adapter for Panasonic 42x30?Thanks!
-
hi guys, anong wireless adapter po kelangan para po dito? thanks :)
-
I think gagana ang wi-fi dongle, meaning no need of drivers/installer. Parang plug and play
-
how much ngayon 42 and 50X30?
-
Do these sets support RGB Full range or is there any HDMI setting for full/limited?
-

Same question, i just recently bought a TH-P50X30M and was wondering what kind of usb wifi I should purchase.. spoke with a seller in GH, he said i can use any wifi, even from cdrking. Just wanted to know, from someone who has gotten it to work. TIA. :)
-
I tried Encore wifi dongle from cdrking but it does not work. Netgear claims that their N600 and WNDA3100v2 are compatible.
An option is using a LAN cable connected to any wireless router. This set up works for me. I connected my P42X30 to my pldt wifi modem/router via LAN cable then the desktop connects to the pldt wifi modem via Encore wifi dongle. I can now play the media files in my desktop's hard drive through Viera. Just access the Media Server in Viera Link.
