I have analog cable subscription and I want to attach the cable to my hdtv. It only has 1 optical output and I inserted it in the home theater optical port along with one hdmi cable, still no sound if I go tv, only when I use the blu ray. I already adjusted the tv settings and home theater system to optical in but still no sound from the hts if I use tv. Tv speakers work stand alone. Blu ray works with tv. Any inputs would be highly appreciated.
The specs are :
TV - one hdmi (connected), one optical (connected)
Connection - analog cable (destiny)
Home theater - 5.1, 4 hdmi (one connected) . one optical (connected), one aux, one fm antenna port,
one rca port

Sir, can you explain further?
Do you want your TV sound be heard from you HT speakers?

Try to connect the cable box to the the tv or home theater via rca or aux, then set-up your home theater accordingly. Since your cable is analog, I don't think the sound will come out thru the optical cable, which is digital.

Thanks Kiwimig for the reply, much appreciated. So I guess I need an optical to analog rca converter then?

Does your tv had Audio Return Channel?
I had similar setup with yours, and I utilise the ARC of my tv and AVR if I use analog cable..

Larokulit, thank you for the reply. I meant how can my analog cable tv sound on a blu ray 5.1 system.
Already has the optical out and hdmi connected. It no cable tv sound.

It has one aux in (L/R). My optical and hdmi are connected already.

If your TV has RCA (L/R) out, I'm pretty sure it will work when connected to your receiver's AUX IN.

Thank you all for the help. Will try the above solutions.
