-very nice comic book movie. Ron Perlman is funny. There are links to the 1st Hellboy which might help if you have watched it. Johann Krauss is one funny nerdy ectoplasmic robot. The adversary Nuada wasn't as powerful and dominating to pit off Hellboy. Effects here are better than the 1st one but somehow my vote would still go for the original. ;)

-The story is likeable specially for young kids. The first time I saw this, I was just amazed at the special effects but think of it now with all the CGI, etc., this isn't as astounding. Electronic fantasy soundtrack was great. There was just limitation in the transfer inspite of the HD upscaling, the picture was still grainy. ;) It was a worthwhile watch with my daughter.

-My wife saw this title in one of my downloads and really wanted to see this. Thought this was a mushy sleeper but the interest and comedy kept me awake the whole time. Patrick Dempsey still has the charm and the wit for the ladies. Somehow I would compare this with My Bestfriend's Wedding but the other way around...go figure it out. A perfect date movie. ;)

-Tim Burton and Johnny Depp really make a great pair in making those gothic movies. I downloaded the 1080p version and the colors and clarity were just outstanding. The colorful houses and women's clothes really bring out the best in your display. On close up, you can really see Johnny Depp's make up. This is one of the movies that I like watching again after a long remission. :)

Yup sounded like 'Athul' to me as in Athulla the Hun? ;D I usually do not activate the subtitles when I am watching movies but I should've in this with their weird accents. Just looking for the time for a 2nd viewing....thanks for the advice! ;)

-A modern day spoof of the 3 little pigs story just like Hoodwinked's little red riding hood. Very good animation by Jim Henson although in AVI format really looked good on my PJ. The story is hilarious and would be enjoyed even by adults. ;D

-I remember Thunderbirds while I was watching this movie. It has its own gore, foulmouth language and "sex" considering that the actors were only puppets. Imagine its theme song "America F**K Yeah". This is a funny movie. Even if the strings of the puppets are visible and the movements are so crude, I just find their actions in a way humorous specially the action scene nearing the end. Personas of Alec Baldwin and the North Korean dictator Kim Jong-Il as the "bad guy who wants to rule the world" were comically represented. I would definitely watch this again if I have the appetite for a good laugh. Definitely not for kids! ;D

The most nerve-wracking moments were presented with minimal action and the story build up was so subtle, not to mention the dialogue is in German. Yet put them all together, it turned a lazy, sleepy Sunday afternoon into a highly emotional, bun-stuck-on-the-sofa moment. The eye movements of the main character alone were enough to convey the emotion up to the very end. Outstanding movie.

Der Untergang (Downfall) in mkv - the final days of Hitler in his bunker. Quite interesting from a historical standpoint. Hitlet - sick, delusional, betrayed, abandoned yet remained a powerful, single-minded and full of pride character up to the very end. Quite a genius (Hitler) if his ultimate plans were actually feasible at that time - staying in Berlin to lure the Red Army closely around Berlin - and then crushing them from behind by elite German divisions (who were nearly non-existent already). The actress who portrayed the role of his young secretary has gorgeous face.

Couldnt get enough of excellent foreign films.

Lots of grains on the encode. Dont know if this was intentional (in the original source) or the encoder's trick.

Final Days Of The Planet Earth - I dont know how I was compelled to finish this nearly 3 hour TV movie (or is it a mini-series?). It must be the cooking and cleaning while watching. I thought Daryl Hannah still looked hot for her age but the movie was a boring version of V - lots of scenes within the same dark location - but I learned something about bees and smoke. ;)

-good choice for the voice of Jeff Daniels for that dumb alien tyrant. Jeff played well on Dumb and Dumber and I'm sure wouldn't have a hard time playing a dumb alien. ;D This movie wasn't well advertised and most probably underrated but it was a fun watch specially with kids. Enjoyed this better the 2nd time around. ;)

-Anna Faris could really make a helluva dumb blond bimbo. At the start I though that this would be a shallow movie that would just drive me dumb if I ought to finish the movie. But watching further prove this movie very cute and funny specially the part when she did the Marilyn Monroe upskirt thingie in the manhole. That was belly aching funny. It has an interesting cast with American Idol contestant Katharine McPhee and Rumer Willis (daughter of Demi and Bruce). Hugh Hefner was even shown as himself in the Playboy mansion. A Revenge of the Nerds female version movie. Watch it! ;D

Katyn in mkv

No unexpected twists because both films are based on actual events that occurred during WWII. Just painful reminders of some of the tragedies in Europe that happened during that time.

The actress who portrayed Sophie Scholl, though definitely not a stunner, has a face that I felt looked sweeter to gaze at as I watched through the movie - or probably that was the effect of her heroic story.

Katyn was most dramatic at the end. I got a little bit lost in the middle because of unfamiliarity of the main actors' faces.

Yeah, but I think City of God (Cidade de Deus) is certainly better overall. However, these 2 movies are highly recommended as a pair - one is from the point of view of the gangs, the other from the police.

Another highly recommended pair: L Auberge Espagnole and Les Poupees Rouses in mkv but they are sequel. Very simple theme of international (EU specifically) friendship and love but quite entertaining movie to watch. It was easy to relate to the "very ordinary looking" French actor who played the main character. Felt like re-living my 20s again and very much envious of that ERASMUS program in the EU.

-very funny specially the rat and the iguana. The CGI were seamless and really gives those animals emotions and expressions. This is one light and funny movie enjoyed to be watched. A must watch for dog lovers. Made me think to get one for the house after watching this movie. ;D

GMA-7 is now airing their TV version of this komiks-based Vilma Santos starrer and no thanks to them. This very glossy soap opera style filipino melodrama (directed by no less than Mr. Edddie Garcia) is still watchable due mainly to the tested chemistry between Vilma and Christopher who plays Lissa and Eric. PAANO is just one of their numerous pairings although sadly this isn't one of their best. In the story, the death of Eric's dear brother Benny and Lissa' boyfriend brought them together in each other's arms eventually.

Just like her legendary 'kumareng' Nora, Vilma also had her shares of numerous unforgettable dialogues and this movie (http://pinoydvd.com/board/index.php?topic=38363.msg706076#msg706076) was no exception. Solid supporting players make this movie more entertaining than the whole story itself: Armida Siguion-Reyna (in a deliciously evil role of Christopher's domineering mother), the late Vic Silayan (who plays Eric's understanding father), Perla Bautista (fated mother of Lissa), Amy Austria (as the third party) and the late Jay Ilagan in a very short and marked role of Lissa's boyfriend Benny.

In such movies like this, a supporting character (usually a father or grandma and at times wheelchar-bound) usually suffers a heart attack and always ends up dead; and it's usually caused by witnessing the quarrels between the bida and the kontrabida..

Basil and Pilita lent their voices to sung the poetic theme (http://www.imeem.com/mannycamales/music/uCYbPnaZ/basil_valdez_paano_ba_ang_mangarap/). VIVA used to hire two singers to sing the same theme song that was both heard in a movie.

It's better since the first time I saw this movie on the big screen. Not your usual Sharon Cuneta vehicle albeit numerous pa-cute moments. Danny Zialcita has a way of presenting an altogether different Sharon in this Viva-produced teen flick back when wholesome movies were indeed 'wholesome'. The 'easy-listening theme has stood the test of time and though it has been revived(?) by other singers, it's nothing quite hearing the original voice.

Subpar TV adaptations for me gearhead000. Same goes to ABS' Sineserye series. Sounds exciting at first. These are movie classics being shown in the '80's. And the greatest mistake GMA had made so far is doing SAAN DARATING ANG UMAGA? with Yasmin Kurdi as Shayne portrayed by Maricel Soriano before. What a shame.

Madadayo (too cliche for someone who lives in Japan - I got bored in the party scenes because we do that quite often in office gatherings - OA yung reaction sa cat but I have some Japanese friends who actually wept so hard when their pets died (meron pang ceremony) - probably interesting for someone not familiar with Japanese customs)

Milk (galing umarte ni Sean Penn. very convincing).

Seven Pounds (almost 90% of the way, I still couldnt figure out what the title is all about, but naiyak ako sa huli)

Transporter 3 (pampagaang ng feeling after some heavy drama. Jason Statham rocks when surrounded by crooks but I like to see him bleed and get hit a little bit more)

Zwartboek (interesting storyline - I played the movie to make me sleepy by reading subs, but ended up watching until 1:30am. I don't recall ever watching a non adult movie where the main female actress is shown dyeing her hair blonde downunder.)

Basic Instinct 2 in mkv - bloody terrible movie. a sequel too little too late. Didnt know that Sharon Stone had a boob job.

I tried Aida in mkv. Very first time to watch an opera. I thought I would probably fall sleep. But with clear DTS sound and full concentration, laglag ang panga ko instead. The stage set was absolutely awesome. And the experience listening to that kind of singing is surreal yet captivating. Ganon pala yon.

It's not for us.

Twilight is very good, except that the target audience is teenage girls. On that premise, I don't think reading the book will change your mind. :D

Well i have some girl friends (not teenagers) who went a-gaga over the book/movie. I have to admit it isn't at all bad but I don't think I'd want to watch it again and I probably won't be getting the DVD or BD... well, maybe if it does go on sale - like P199-sale. ;D You're right, why bother reading the book when it probably won't change my mind. :D

I'll be watching it sometime this week. I just finished downloading the AVI and subtitles yesterday, but I got a 2-CD format. Today I joined the AVI and the subs to 1-CD format each. Then I had to fix the sub synchronization on CD-2. I hope my copy is fine now.

Napanood nyo na? Comments naman please. I'll start. I like both.

Romance: Twilight is romantic in a cheesy way (but I'm sure teenagers and young couples loved it), LTROI is romantic in an innocent yet very touching way. My teenage daughter will probably get bored with LTROI.

Cinematography: LTROI's camera work is awesome.

Vampire: How do you like your vampire flavor? Cool and good looking (Twilight) or smelly and dirty looking (LTROI)? Sparkling when hit by sunlight or highly combustive? "Vegetarian" or traditional human blood sucking type? Twilight is like fantasy romance while LTROI is horror romance. Twilight is a hopeful love story, LTROI is kinda tragic.

I thought the idea that vampire smells "strange" (in a foul way) is quite brilliant. If a creature lives only on fresh human blood, he/she's got to smell different.

Memorable scene:
Twilight: Im still trying to figure out but I like the face of the young lady.
LTROI: Affectionately kissing your lover in sincere gratitude right after you feasted on human blood, with lips and chin covered in blood.

I've watched LTROI twice, first one dubbed in English and the 2nd viewing in Swedish audio with English subs because there are some very intriguing scenes, and some Swedish notes that weren't translated in English.

It's hard to say which one is better. I liked both.

Twilight is first and foremost a love story. But LTROI is primarily a horror story.

Twilight's vampire heroes are attractive people, an adoptive family that lives in a gorgeous house that looks like it's been featured in a magazine spread. To make sure that audience sympathy is on their side, our vampire heroes are written as "vegetarians," or vampires who choose to survive only on animal blood. Typical Hollywood.

On the other hand, LTROI's vampires are unattractive, dirty, and live in a decrepit apartment. Their victims are humans who suffer horrific deaths in their hands. Yet the movie still manages to get the audience to sympathize with those vampires.

LTROI's cinematography is masterful. Scenes of brutal gore are either from a long shot or off-cam, yet those scenes are no less shockingly gruesome --- perhaps even more so, because they achieve the verité of a newsreel shot that a close-up with CGI can never duplicate.

Many bloggers are predicting that a Hollywood remake of "Let the Right One In" is inevitable. Watch the Swedish original as soon as you can, before Hollywood ruins it. ;)
