Based on the 1996 film by Joel and Ethan Cohen, Fargo is an upcoming drama anthology limited series that will premiere on FX this April 15. "Limited series" here just means that each season will feature a different cast and storyline, but all set in the same Minnesota town. The first season features a strange drifter that arrives in town and subsequently influences the population with his malice and violence, including a beleaguered insurance salesman.
Cast includes Billy Bob Thornton, Martin Freeman, Colin Hanks, Bob Odenkirk, Kate Walsh, Adam Goldberg, Oliver Platt, Jordan Peele, Keegan-Michael Key
Joel and Ethan Cohen are listed as co-executive producers.
number of episodes: 10
network: FX

Fargo is my favorite Coen brothers film. Sayang wala si Frances McDormand in the TV series. I loved her sheriff role in the movie.

-
This was the best pilot I've seen in a few years.
Just... wow.
-
It's like a movie in itself. Totally different cast next episode? Including the police officers?
-
Not that I can tell from the preview.
-
Galing. Billy Bob reminded of Javier Bardem's role in 'No Country for Old men'. Didn't realize it was the Hobbit's Martin Freeman in the main role until i checked IMDB. Just finished Breaking Bad so I was immediately struck by Bob Odenkirk's voice.
With the fixation on special effects and spectacle, you can't make movies like the Coen's did in the 90's except on TV. which makes TV the place to be for good drama and quirky movies that the masses won't go for anymore.
Have to say that the pilot does justice to naming itself "Fargo"
-
Ganda. it's like revisiting the original! No Frances, but still a good pilot!
-
I'm 10 minutes into Episode 4. And just like that... it's suddenly officially a sequel. ;)
-
Just finished the first four episodes of this series and it's immediately my joint-favorite show currently airing along with Game of Thrones. Great writing and dynamic mix of characters.
Lorne Malvo to me is like a mix of Javier Bardem's Anton Chigurh from No Country For Old Men + Heath Ledger's Joker from The Dark Knight.
I also love how they tied the film with the series so well with such a simple scene :)
-
This show constantly delivers one of the finest hours of television each week in terms of acting and production values. In the last episode, that slow-pan upwards shot of the building where Malvo enters and we only hear the mayhem going on inside until he gets to the top was brilliant. 8)
I'll be really disappointed if Fargo doesn't earn any Emmy nominations this September.
-
Lorne Malvo reminds me of Mike Ehrmantraut in Breaking Bad. Sinister and lethal.
-
yeah, 'nuff said. can't wait to see more of this series as it goes on. Coen bros in full effect.
-
Holy temporal leaps! Didn't expect that at all--or how it was used effectively. Molly Solverson's current condition now makes her almost the mirror image of Marge Gunderson...all we need now are a wood chipper and a cameo from Frances McDormand herself...after all, Brainerd isn't that far from Bemidji, heh
-
Bakit di nakasuhan si Gus di na naman siya pulis?
-
That was an incredible finale. Lots of great things to rave about. Almosphere, suspense, action and intensity was top notch.
+ Lou being the most badass grandpa in the world.
+ Bill's No Country-esque rumination on how things used to be different and how he's not cut out for this life.
+ Pepper and Budge being the most laughably clueless FBI agents ever.
Not a fan of:
- Using the wolf as deus ex machina to show Gus where Malvo's cabin is.
- How Lester died. (thematically... based on his character arc, sure, it was a poetic and apt demise... but cinematically, it felt rushed and not as well executed as everything else in the series)
All in all, the whole series is such an achievement. Great writing, directing and superb ensemble. I enjoyed watching it far more than True Detective.
Dat glove parable doe... what does it really mean?!?!
-
It was a well-done finale--a fitting bookend for one of this year's best new TV series. (https://s.yimg.com/lq/i/mesg/emoticons7/41.gif)
Fargo TV series creator Noah Hawley answers some questions about the finale:

Fargo scored big in the 2014 Critics Choice Awards, with three wins:
- Best Actor in a Movie or Mini-Series - Billy Bob Thornton
- Best Supporting Actress in a Movie or Mini-Series - Allison Tolman
- Best Mini-Series
(http://i.imgur.com/V5cXDRm.jpg)
Martin Freeman and Colin Hanks were also nominated for Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor in a Movie or Mini-Series.
-
Great finale!
-
Fargo gets 18 Emmy nominations, all in the "Miniseries or a Movie" category, which include 2 Best Actors (Billy Bob Thronton and Martin Freeman), Best Supporting Actress (Allison Tolman), Best Supporting Actor (Colin Hanks), plus numerous nominations in Music, Makeup, Editing, Cinematography, Casting, and Directing categories, as well as overall Outstanding Miniseries.

From comingsoon.net:
Fargo's Second Season Takes the Action Back to 1979
Source: The Wrap
July 21, 2014
It was revealed earlier today that FX is moving forward with a second season of their acclaimed new series Fargo and that the new episodes are set to feature a brand new cast. Now, reporting from the show's Television Critics Association panel, The Wrap has a few more details about the new season, bringing word that it will be set in 1979 and will follow a younger version of Lou Solverson, the character played by Keith Carradine in the first season, as he returns from the Vietnam War.
“It gets hard to look past the actors. I like the idea that the character comes first and the actors are able to disappear into the role,” says Executive Produce Noah Hawley. "...That time period is really interesting in American history; post-Vietnam, post-Watergate, just before Ronald Reagan became President.”
Hawley also explains that, while the first season was largely influenced artistically by No Country for Old Men, A Serious Man and, of course, Fargo, the new season will draw from (in addition to, again, Fargo) Miller's Crossing and The Man who Wasn't There.
-
Hurrah for Season 2! :D
-
I loved this show. It was very engaging from start to finish. The essence of Breaking Bad in a nutshell.
-

Season 2 premiere was great, complete with UFO (?) 8)
-
I agree S2 premiere was great! Nagulat ako meron agad sa IFLIX ;D
The episode was so well shot and well written, and most of all I literally liked every single player in the ensemble. Was on the fence about Dunst but now I feel her character could be one of the most interesting things about this season. Patrick Watson and (HIMY)Mother are instantly likable and so adorable as a couple. Ted Danson is such a stud... a man's man... and that's saying a lot considering Nick Offerman is also in the cast.
Basta ang galing nilang lahat.
-
episode 2 was good. not as good as the premiere. dang the finger!
-
bloody and brutal episode 5! dang!
-
wow nice series .. done with season 1☺.. habol ako sa season 2..
-
Renewed for a 3rd Season, yay!
-
Best thing on television right now, bar none.
-
No arguments here. :)
-
not to mention Kirsten Dunst is still goddarn hot!
didnt expect that phone call at the last part of episode 7. what a surprise!
-
Damn. Maganda pala to. I'm currently backtracking episodes from S1. Is it me or parang ang daming references from other movies aside from Fargo itself? Sobrang nakakainis yung episode6, kinda reminded me of this movie starrng Al Pacino hehehe
-
Malaman nga pala si Kirsten while his husband is malaman na Matt Damon.
not to mention Kirsten Dunst is still goddarn hot!
-
Malaman nga pala si Kirsten while his husband is malaman na Matt Damon.
Yup, viewers are calling him Fatt Damon ... when he was in Breaking Bad, the viewers called him Meth Damon. ;D
-
Grabe mabitin ep 8! And the knife pulling scene was just.....
-
Kaka-awa si Hanzee. The guy just wanted a glass of water and a haircut :P
-
Finally all caught up sa series. Hehe watching episode 9. Hanzee boy tibay.
Although for sure tigok na mga bad guys sa last episode.hehe
Alam naman nating mabubuhay si Lou but he will get shot though, based on his old version in season 1.
-
LOL what the actual fvck @ the E09 ending :D I love this show.
-
haha
Before they got there, Mike Milligan was like "lock and loaded, b*tches!!!"
And then when he got there...hahaha!
-
LOL what the actual fvck @ the E09 ending :D I love this show.
I couldn't agree more ... that was one of the most WTF episode endings I've seen, LOL
-
I gong to download and do a marathon on this TV show....based on the positive comments here.
-
I am on S02E03. I liked S01 a lot (although it didn't quite live up to its terrific pilot), but S02 looks even better. Both are worthy of the movie.
-
And that was the finale. Big lull from the previous episode.
-
It was a low-key finale, but loved those connections to Season 1, especially that revelation about Hanzee 8)
Definitely one of the best TV series to come out this year.
-
Ngayon pa lang ako ulit nakahabol. Indeed, s02e09 had one of the most wtf moments in the history of tv series.. I mean, how was that "thing" connected to the ruckus?
-
I want to say that I love this show. Probably best show on TV right now!
I'm pissed we have to wait until 2017 for the next season.
-

Yeah, WTF was all that about, haha.
-
Ewan McGregor has been cast as the lead in the upcoming 3rd season of Fargo. McGregor will play 2 characters, the brothers Emmit and Ray Stussy. Unlike the first two seasons, the 3rd season of Fargo will be set closer to the present day.
-
Binge watched season 2. Awesome is all I can say. I had to suspend disbelief with the ufo crap. Very good story telling and directorial treatment.

Season 3 premieres April 19, 2017

Kay M.E.W. pa lang sulit na manuod ng show na to. Kahit ako mahirap tanggihan ang ganyan kagandang babae. hahaha
I would've taken more than just $10k though. hahaha
-

-
Nikki's odds of surviving this just went up a lot higher when she partnered up with the basically unkillable Mr. Wrench from Season 1 -- it's great how this show connects the seasons together.
-
Sobra ganda ni MEW sa episode 9. hehe
-
Connecting the dots!
I'd do anything that she tells me to as well
(http://www.joblo.com/images_arrownews/Mary-Elizabeth-Winstead-in-Esq.jpg)
Ganda nya ;D
-
At least I don't have to see that Bruce Lee wannabee character.
-
all good things must come to an end.
Oh Nikki.......
wonder what happened after 5 minutes in the last scene?
-
Haha langya. Sabi ko na ganun ending sa pinakadulo eh. Bwisit.
Mr. Wrench- you the man! Hehe kaya napabilib nya yung magaling na killer in season 1 eh
-
Mr. Wrench- you the man! Hehe kaya napabilib nya yung magaling na killer in season 1 eh
Sayang talaga, sana hindi muna pinaalis ni Nikki si Mr. Wrench, the only character to appear in all 3 seasons, baka lalabas na naman yan in Season 4.
-
finale na ba yun?
-

Can't recall. What part of season 2 did Mr. Wrench appear?

This scene near the end. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O1AhiFxd9Cc) He's one of the boys playing baseball.

Oh the kid. Difficult to make the connection, unless one reads the reviews. Thanks.
