i have yet to see the r81 in action. but assuming it is at least equal or better than the n71... then i find it a better buy.
for me the n71 is a debate-able tie with v200.
since the r81b based on what is reported can be had cheaper than v200... i dont see any reason to consider the v200 unless it goes down in price by a large factor.

Sabi nung sales dun good buy na raw ung home theater for 5K kasi original price nya is nasa 21K. Wat do you think sir? Sabi rin nya pwede na rin iworkout kung cash less %K them kasama na rin ung home theater kung 2 ung bibilin namen.

well my rule of thumb is look at srp price and reduce it by 20% and thats is the cash price you should be aiming for.
so 70k * .8 = 56k :)

Sony's 32V200A, 32S200A, Samsung's R71, and S71. The R81's PQ really outshines all those, except for the 32V200A, though I'm really having a hard time on which one looks better. ;D Or maybe my eyes' just playing tricks on me. :P What really got me is how gorgeous it looks and it's 3 HDMI. :D
On the other hand, anyone knows when will they release the S81? I might get that if it's cheaper. ;)

If same price with the S71, you can haggle it upto 52k in Western Megamall..

I went to Ambassador Greenhills awhile ago and the chinese lady priced me the Samsung 32" R81b for P57,540 cash and the Sony Bravia 32V200A for P73,000 in cash also. I think it can still be lowered upto 55k for the R81b and 70k for the V200A. :D
Im planning to get one already, the only thing that is stopping me from buying is the Group Buy this coming May because Im sure big discounts will be given to us and lesser cash for me to scam. Hehe

is it true ung sabi nila na ung mga contrast ratio ng mga samsung (5000:1 ++) is way overexaggerated? Sabi nila mga LCDs around 1500:1 (at that point, I would have believed them if they carried any Samsung)

so far, i'm into the samsung r81. i was able to have it quoted and discounted for 63,350 for cash with free wall bracket. but i know if i join your group buy it would be much lower.
can we have a price watch update here? even for other brands like sharp. i auditioned the sony s200 and philips (forgot the exact model) and only samsung r81 caught my interest. thanks guys

assuming we get the same discount from digital savers, for the bordeuax. you can shave off a few extra thousand's. ^^

57k is good, last group buy.. we got it between 63k and 57k for the r71b with htib :)

mojito: listening room at megamall sells the regza for 55k 0% 12 months with dvd player! this is the 32" 66 series.
this series has just been replaced by the a3000 series. better daw yung a3000. in features it competes with midrange models daw according to cnet asia's 1st take on the 42". performance wise ok din daw. theres a review on cnet asia on the 37" a3000 model. also saw the 32" in sm appliance center yesterday selling for 69k 0% 12 months sticker price.
hassle lang...cnet mentioned that this will be introduced cheaper than the 66 series with midrange level performance and features. although dito sa pinas pag bago mas mahal even if its really not that expensive.
well..this looks like a good performer on paper (mid range performance) on entry level price :D

I think the samsungs are priced higher here in the philippines then they make it look like they give you a good discount. i think the toshiba's price is in a way more spot on at around 55-60k SRP competes with the supposedly 70k samsung

last i did my research, the toshiba 32wl66 series was in the 90k range without discount...
now if they release the 32a3000e in the 60k srp bracket with toshiba phils. warranty then that would change the whole story.

wl66 is 55k now 12 months with hdmi dvd player...a3000 32" is 69k 0% in sm appliance center which is expensive.
im getting feedback from theater works that the a3000 = wl66 in price...maybe 5k higher lang daw :D
whichever is better...i think we all here have the same budget and are getting 32"s...maybe we ought to wait for the a3000s then lets all buy the better one. audition tayo sabay sabay hahahaa

for center area based ppl.. i think the super anson appliance mall(near podium) + abenson store(near st. francis square) + megamall + shang-ri-la is good for ppl who live in the center of metro manila.

my personal perference is either the north or center area's i suggested.

i was at sm pampanga last night and trying to audition samsung r81 and toshiba 32a3000e. sadly, it seems that online reviews do not result to actual viewing for toshiba. samsung is more brighter, less pixelated and won in the looks department.
for you guys interested with the 32a3000e pricing, here it is. it was discounted and it's 69,000 for cash daw with free HT. i did not bother to get the model for the HT. i asked if they can less the HT price to the lcd itself and they said yes. less 10k daw. so that would be 59k total for the lcd.
feedback on 32a3000e: i'm not impressed. colors look pale, it has pixels visible on AV connection and later HDMI connection and upscaled to 1080. any connection tried results to the same pixelated look even at far angle. i don't know but it seems the samsung s81 is even better in terms of PQ for me. as mentioned on other posts, the sound is really nice. it's comparable to a small HTIB setup. but i'm not into sounds for lcd anyway.

no. samsung used it's own and the same as toshiba. we used the HTIB attached with them. i used the same cd though.
i've been through different stores and still r81 is the one that really attracts me in terms of PQ. i've seen 2 stores so far with this toshiba.

yes, i'm curious too. i'm looking into samsung, sharp and toshiba. so far i've checked a lot of r81 with different stores and different players and dvd. it's by far my choice up to now. i like the response of sharp though. even on fast car scenes and basketball it's good. for samsung there is a little lag. i haven't checked toshiba for response yet since i don't have my dvd last night.
there's only one store in our area that piles the lcd side by side using 1 player and it's abenson. but they use lg,sony and philips for head to head comparison.
can anyone make head to head for toshiba and samsung or even with sharp on other stores?
as for the colors with opther brands, yes you got the right term. it could be exaggerated but it looks more colorful and brighter to me. that's what i prefer for PQ. for toshiba what i notice is, it looks pale and the skin tone is more pinkish and tan. this happens on different movies and different person. it looks unatural to me.

@scofield, try to haggle pa na 55k for 12 months with free ht, that's what i'm doing sa anson, later pupunta uli ako kasi itatry nila na 55k with free ht pero 5k cash tapos 50k for 18 months, kapag pumayag sila, kukuha na ako later.

secret lang nating ito. yung company ko distributor ng lcd bagong brand pero hindi ako kumukuha sa kanila kase wala pang service centers or mga trained technicians. pero sabi nila parating na raw ang mga spare parts....pero pag nasira daw within warranty papalitan daw nila agad.

bought the s81 with ht today from anson, ayaw nila pumayag sa 55k pero nung nagsabi sila ng 56k pumayag na ako, the deal is dapat 5k cash/straight card and 51k for 12 months, so ang ginawa namin para hinde mabigat pag hulugan, straight card namin 15k tapos dapat 12 months ang 41k, ang swerte lang namin coz habang iniimput na 12 months ang installment, lumalabas sa computer nila 18 months kaya yung 41k namin naging 18 months :)). i ask kung applicable ba ito sa lahat ng card, sabi depende daw sa card kung papayag sa 56k, btw we use hsbc and american express card :)

yes, i'm a new member in these forums, but i've been reading the threads here for quite some time now, i was able to stumble upon this group buy thread and just recently decided to get a LCD TV. i'm eyeing a Sharp LC-32PX5M. i passed by Avant yesterday and was able to haggle the price down to a firm 66k with free 21" Sharp CRT TV, they wouldn't budge anymore when i was trying to convince them to take away the "freebie" and lessen it to the amount they quoted me.
my haggling skills may still not be at par with the rest of you guys and i just might join in the group buy instead to get the best price for this TV but is there a definite date already for the group buy? i ask because the buyer of my current TV might back out if i hold out longer.
if there is no definite date yet, would there be someone that can help me bring the price down for that Sharp model that i want to get? i'm gonna use my Visa card (kase sayang ang Miles) for straight payment.

this is their regular price daw. gotta check back tomorrow then. i think this is a great deal lalo na if i can still haggle for it. the htib thats included is upgrade friendly, say when you wanna go hddvd or blueray due to the surround inputs.

to the group buyers. i wont be able to come along sa audition because of work but if you could find out how much the group buy price of the 40-inch samsung LA40S81 or 37-inch samsung LA37R81 and availability i may participate in the group buy.
AKAIK the best price of the 40-inch LA40S81 is P95,000 at Western Appliance along Pasay Road and the 37-inch LA37R81 is about P76,000 according to a poster on this thread.

we auditioned the 2 sets (ordered by PQ using batman begins and gangs of new york dvds via upscale dvd player through hdmi)
1) sharp 32px5m (low 62k yata on 0%)
pros: better colors and detail
cons: price! around 10k higher on 0%
2) toshiba regza 32a3000e (found this for 53k 0%)
pros: PQ is not bad at all for the price! i think this is good value for money. well, this is supposed to be a good entry level lcdtv
cons: less detail shown as compared to the sharp
**the sharp was the demo unit they had there and was calibrated for sure. the toshiba was new out of the box and was not calibrated yet. so i really dont know how good it can get. specs wise..the sharp is really better with a 10k price difference after haggling :)

up to now i'm still stuck on which brand to get. i like how sharp performs in fast scenes and not pixelated in most movies. but i like the picture quality of samsung in terms of color. ang linaw talaga.
but sharp do not have problems with fast scenes, unlike sharp pag mabilis yung scene medyo nakakahilo. although hindi masyado visible yung lag pero alam mo na may lag kasi nakakasakit sa mata.

feature-wise it would most probably lose to the bordeaux plus and sony's incoming v3 series.
pq.. hmm.. this is really subjective... i'd say better pa rin samsung and sony.. but some ppl prefer the picture quality of toshiba so.. you really have to check your self on this.
pricing.. hands down the wl68 series is over priced unless you buy from grey market

If ever you're still doing a group buy, can you give me a head count on what model/make you guys are getting? Is the one on the first post on this thread still accurate? If you're all on a similar brand at least, it'll be easier to negotiate directly with the distributor themselves, to get the best possible price for the brand. Price will definitely go lower the more people get the same brand, as you all clearly know already.
Please let me know by this thread or by PM. If you can all confirm with me by Thursday, I can probably get a good price quotation for you before the weekend.

naka PC input na siya using VGA port. I dont use component cables for the simple reason I do not want the LCD TV to scale.
Will try to show the LCD TV in action with a personal computer driving it. :)

haaay... dropped by anson's ortigas yesterday. sumakit ulo ko sa dami ng choices. it seems din kasi everyone is displaying hd demo material or kung di man eh high quality dvd kaya ang linaw talaga. i couldn't really tell the difference from my quick rounds of the place (less than 15mins. actually). so tingin na lang ako ng prices na within my range. i went there decided na to get a plasma... but from the performance of the lcd's i saw, i'm having second thoughts already. ang ganda lang sa lcd, kahit sa malapitan, ang kinis pa rin. haaay.... back again to the drawing board.

I always bring a personal dvd to test the tvs. Dont rely on their demos. Yun lang sometimes there are some salespeople that are not accomodating and "making bad facials" But hey thats our right..

samsung is known for good aftersale services...also hindi rin sila nalalayo ng sony lcd...same panel kase gamit nila, actually sa sharp naman, d na rin nalalayo ang aftersale service nila, sharp replaced my unit twice, i dont encounter any problem when it comes to CSR, all my transactions are done via phone... ikaw na lang mag decide pag dating sa quality of picture, make side by side comparison. ;D

Where did you get the 49K offer for Sony S200a with free HTIB? Last Sunday sa Sogo Glorietta, I saw a Samsung LA32S81B and Sony 32S200a side by side showing Shrek 2. I was really impressed with the PQ of Sony and more detailed pa sya vs. the Samsung model. Check it out for yourself. I don't know lang if compared to the LA32R81B model.

dynamic contrast po yung sa samsung. multiply mo ung contrast ratio ng s200 by 5 pra mkuha ung dynamic contrast nya... 1300*5= 6500:1 ung dyanamic contrast ng s200... uhmmm.. tunkol nman po sa r81, para sakin msgus2 ko po ung performance ng r81.. walang laban ung s200 dun...

btw, mas maganda ba ang dynamic ratio compared sa contrast ratio lang (assuming na 6500:1 din yung samsung, at 1300 yung sony)... sa pag kakaalam ko dynamic contrast ratio mas advanced ata dahil mas flexible yung contrast niya?
also, can you share more kung bakit mas maganda ang performance ng r81 than s200a?

Where did you get the 49K offer for Sony S200a with free HTIB? Last Sunday sa Sogo Glorietta, I saw a Samsung LA32S81B and Sony 32S200a side by side showing Shrek 2. I was really impressed with the PQ of Sony and more detailed pa sya vs. the Samsung model. Check it out for yourself. I don't know lang if compared to the LA32R81B model.
I think it was Ansons... it was offered to my aunt, who was canvassing the prices for me. Maganda and cheap sana yung package ng Sony, but I haven't seen the performance yet, compared to the R81.

maganda kasi offer ng sony, 49k kasama na HTIB and Headset na wireless... yung samsung naman, 54k + 5k additional HTIB, kaso gusto ko yung may HDMI na and Optical In, so +15-25k pa ata yun sa 54k. Kaya tinitignan ko kung sulit yung matitipid ko sa Sony, in terms of quality and longetivity. Isa lang kasi HDMI ng sony, and parang mas maraming features yung Samsung :)

sir i think it means 1080p ready. You can input a 1080p signal but the LCD will still convert it to its native resolution, notice the native resolution is still the same as 1080i/720p LCDs. 1366x768 pixels padin. AFAIK in order to be true HD you need a native resolution of 1920x1080.

i just recently bought my samsung 32r81 lcd at uhhmm more than 25% discount.. cash of course
granted it was limited stocks and i had to pass thru some samsung philippines contacts and was extremely lucky.
it just shows a little patience and some researshing helps :)

suffice to say i got it well below the 49k mark.. plus i got full samsung philippines warranty with it...
the kicker part was.. the unit is a "declared display" unit.. doesnt really matter to me.. since the 32r81b has only been in the market for like.. uhhmm 3 months or so.. and i still got full warranty.
last i checked.. they've got samsung 42 inch plasma's at below 70k with haggling and 10,000 contrast ratio...but im not famillair with samsung plasma's so i didnt grab it.
the rest of their "current" stock are 42 inch r71b's and r51b's im pretty sure you can them near the 40% to 50% mark.
they also, got audio systems, refs and aircon. but they all appear to be display or refurbished models or old models.
if you live in the cainta area or pasig area, i can take you guys their over the weekend. and no they don't take cash or installment.
