Title: Solar TV
Post by: tonedeaf on Nov 30, 2009 at 09:06 AM
CS/9 just got reformatted, it's now called SOLARtv.

Based on the teasers, it looks like it'll have Jay Leno's show. And NBA games are now at 9-11 am, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Which is a bummer for me because it means fewer Laker games coverage kasi 11 usually ang home games ng Lakers.

I hope Fringe is retained. Pero it seems to me that Solar TV's programming is sort of like ETC. medyo light na mga shows.

Sorry, but the TV series Fringe will no longer be aired.

The Jay Leno Show is now with us and will be aired Mondays to Fridays at 11 PM.

Other new shows/programs are also lined-up .....  ;)
e.g., Vampire Diaries (Mon, Tues, Thurs, 8PM); Jerry Springer (Mon-Sat, 2PM); Maury (Mon-Sat, 3PM); America's Best Dance Crew (Mon, Tues, Thurs, 9PM); America's Got Talent (Mon-Fri, 10PM) ....  :D

Maury (Mon-Sat, 3PM)

"You are not the father!"

"WAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!" (Running down hallway, curling up into a ball at the end while hysterically sobbing)

=====

Ah Maury, how I've missed you.  ;D

I wonder where solar will show yung mga magaganda nilang show na medyo sci-fi/crime-related ang dating, like fringe, NCIS, heroes etc.

Didn't know where to post this except here, since SolarTV gave way to TalkTV, which then gave way to Solar News Channel. On August 23, 2014, Solar News Channel currently seen on channel 9 will turn into 9TV, which will retain its news, current affairs and public service programs while adding more new shows to its weekend lineup, like Sesame Street, which returned to local TV last August 16.

I've been watching the Solar News programs for several months now and I have to say that I enjoy watching it more than the other local news programs--news is straight-forward and delivery doesn't scream out for attention. Even better, no news about love teams splitting up or similar crap seen in most local news programs nowadays.

I like News Cafe, What i see, and Something to chew on. (The latter 2 I don't see anymore, baka hiatus) but News Cafe is top notch! ang galing ng host, Mitzi Borromeo, she does her research and asks very smart questions. Hindi katulad ng iba dyan...  *ubo, ubo* karen davila :P

Meron na ulit Sesame Street? Nice for kids kahit reruns lang. Galing lang ko sa public nung elementary pero me time na pinapanuod kami noon ng Sesame Street.

Something to Chew On will have its 2nd season premiere later this month, and it's been expanded to 1 hour.

Yup, I like Mitzi a lot too.  8)

Yup, Sesame Street is back on local free TV with new episodes; it's on Saturdays and Sundays, 7:00am

Parang three times a day pinapalabas yung Sesame Street nuon. Kasi pag uwi ko sa bahay ng tanghali napapanuod ko pa rin sa hapon tapos The Electric Company na.

Very true. Much more balanced reporting and less sensationalized while still keeping you informed of current events.

More information instead of opinion... Know it all opinion is irritating specially when it comes from those who after all were not able to accomplish much as VP and as a One term Congressman.

Hope that it stays in English and not get dubbed in Tagalog para maka-gets ng mga "masa" (or stuff it full of g0dd@mned shampoo and hotdog commercials)

and they're changing yet again...starting January 2015, 9TV will become CNN Philippines, partnering with the Cable News Network service to become the station's local franchise and will feature CNN's content as well as 9TV's current content of local programs.

CNN Philippines will be available 24 hours on local free TV via channel 9, as well as cable. CNN International will still be available separately on cable.

Sayang. Solar News had the most balanced news reporting. Never sensationalized, always delivered in the objective and calm BBC manner.

I guess this is why the big networks offer sensationalized news reporting. It is what sells to the market. Reporting the good news and objective reporting does not sell well. What a waste!

I guess CNN's presence on the carrier would further even out the quality of the newsfeed

agree... CNN USA is the worst, and while CNN International is a bit more subdued, I still prefer BBC World's style the most.

not sure what's gonna happen to most of their current shows, like Something To Chew On, Drive and their content from BBC, like Top Gear--they'll probably be all gone, same with Sesame Street...what a waste.

If Solar's 9TV can be CNN Philippines, how about ETC/JackTV becoming CW Philippines?
