I bought a DVD from this store yesterday entitled Toto - Live and it had a dts sign on the back of the case but the dts feature wasn't available anywhere on the menu.
It has no region coding but it says it will play on only NTSC DVD players.
Was i dupped ? did i buy a fake ? the sound is really good but is it normal to get dvds with dts signs on the casing and yet you have no option on the menu to use it ?
Can someone help on explaining please kung naloko ako or if there are dvds that have auto dts audio or something... kung meron lang naman pwede ::)

to be honest, what you have described seems to me as an example of a malaysian pdvd. they put dts there in the label because it they found that it sells better. can't be sure until i see it.

Wat does the disc itself look like? Is there any markings on the center of the discs like numbers and letter? Usually, that's the best place to check if it is indeed fake. Kung wala...malamang fake nga.

I usually look at the DVDs in Megamixx and have never seen any obvious pirated dvds there.Did it come with a security sticker?And they don't have P800 discs, the lowest is around P1,400.If they priced it like that and they still sold it to you, then there must be something wrong.Just bring it back and tell them about the problem.No such thing as getting away with wrong pricing unless the cashier is not familiar with their items.Sa lagay na yan dami nilang DVDs eh dapat alam nila they don't sell less than P1k.
note:Wala pa akong nakitang PDVD packaging that is the same as the origs.Just look closely at the print and case, you should be able to tell the difference.Of course there should be number code/brand on the inner circle of the DVD.Tingnan mo yong PDVD iba klase markings.If your saying the DTS logo is just a sticker then I guess your in trouble. ;D Just return it I'm sure Megamixx will not contest that.

I was informed that the DVD you bought from Megamixx was consigned to them and they had no idea that there was no official release of that DVD. It was a mistake on their part but they have no intention to fool the buyers, that I do know. Had they known it was not an official release, I'm very sure you won't find it in their inventory. The store do not sell any pirated DVDs.
You could probably go back to the store, like some members suggested. I'm sure they will not turn you down. If you're uneasy with going back and asking for your money back, let me know. I might be able to help you out.
Just want to clear this out since people might get the idea that pirated DVDs are already available at Megamixx.

if you want your money returned and ayaw nila, and they tell you that they can only exchange it for something else, you can always threaten them for selling FAKE STUFF!

Thanks a lot PARC. I will just call them and ask them if i can return it but i will definitely Not go there tomorrow because of the EDSA thing ... most probably Wednesday... wish me luck everyone :)

Good Luck! After spending money for it, I guess they have no reason to have a no return/exchange policy. You should expect service for buying an original DVD from them.
That is also one way for them to fight piracy. 8)

Hi just saw r1 DVD's in megamall beside astrovision! the one selling speakers and all... well it has different DVD's (R1) like 6th sense, complete evangelion set, akira kurosawa's 3 samurai movies etc etc etc! godfather etc! damitalaga.. just check it out guys! :) may gorgeous pa (jacky chan) wala lang ingat

You must be referring to MegaMixx (i think). Interesting selection, but the marked up prices are relatively high, better deals could be found through the posts here.

the shop you're referring to is MEGA-MIXX. it's got lots of DVDs but a bit pricey if you ask me. well, pricey is relative afterall. hehe. ;D

Weeeeeee I was able to return the Toto DVD that I got from Megamixx today without any questions asked. The girl said that the dvd was just consigned to them.
Anyway, they refunded my P800.00 and that really made me very happy.
I guess it was a learning experience for both of us so life goes on.

there's only one thing I can say....MAHAL DUN! >:( dito ka na lang sa marketplace and instead na bumili ka ng dvd dun kahit mouth-watering eh dito kana,you can buy 2 R1's here for the price of 1 from there! ::)

yeah its better to canvas first before you actually buy the titles, some are a little bit pricey than the other shops but let your finger do the walkin (use the phone) it saves you time and hardly earned money.

I went to Megamall yesterday and pass by Mega Mixx. Wala na nga yung mga dvd's nila, mga audio cd's na yung nakalagay sa rack.
And the faces of the sales people are gloomy. Nakakaawa din kahit papano. Imagine if you're the owner of that store?
I wonder what will happen to those dvd's confiscated by the VRB?
Di kaya ma-raid din yung C.A. sa Virra Mall, Greenhills?

Hi everyone!
Anyone familiar with the DVDs bein sold in Megamixx Megamall and their prices?
I'm looking for this DVD of a series that's set in the 30's ata. I think it contains the 1st (and only) 7 or so episodes. The title's New York or Los Angeles or somethin like that. Read the back cover and it seemed really intriguing.
When I went to Megamixx, their DVDs weren't there anymore :( Anyone know why not?
I always go there before just to look at the over-priced Transformers box set, wishing that I owned iT :)

no matter what we think about their pricing, it's kinda unfair to confiscate their dvds. anyway, based on what happened to discotech, i don't think they will ever get them back.

Once ordered from them (pre Pinoydvd days) an R1 Criterion title. Amazon price was 36$ (around 2000 Php). They charged me 2,400.

Went to megamixx last saturday, Aug 2. R1 DVD's are on display again. They're selling Daredevil for P1,800....We Were Soldiers for P1650...Metallica S&M P2000.. at marami pa...mejo mahal nga lang except for Metallica..mejo malapit ung presyo sa binebenta sa Astro 8)

Bumili ako sa kanila ng madonna greatest hits megamix cd single way back in 2002. napakamahal nga ng price php900 for 2 tracks only! i am a die hard madonna fan kaya ok lang. i collect all stuff about madonna. yun kasi yung rare promo cd na release ng warner. so paguwi ko ng house pag open ko cd burn lang pala! stupid ko talaga! grabe niloko ko! di ko na nga naasikaso na return yon.

not that i am defending megamixx and i'm not sure if you are aware of this, but CD promos come in 2 variants... pressed and acetates.
and from what you told us, it is still likely that what you got came from warner itself. i myself have a few promo acetates and they are all burned on CD-Rs... the best way to know if you've been had is to check the disc imprint and the case. promo acetates usually come in a printed sleeve bearing the recording company's logo or in a regular jewel case with the track name, artist and listing printed on plain white paper. the disc itself looks like a plain CD-R without any brand on it. and the track listing is "silk screened" into the non-read side.
acetates are like the "vinyl while label" versions in CD format... and are really quite pricey simply because they usually contain tracks not found in a commercial release and/or are produced in limited quatities (usually only a couple of hundred or less). also they are released weeks (and sometimes months) ahead of the street date.
here's an example of a CD-R acetate promo with a pre printed sleeve .... (note the CD is a CD-R and this item is being sold for US$40):

** i took the liberty of using madonna examples... because there are so many! LOL. please note however that these are all the real thing. they may be CD-Rs but they came directly from warner's offices worldwide. ;)
sorry for the change in topic... but while megamixx isn't the cheapest place to buy, i think they are very upfront and will not hesitate to tell you if you are getting a bootleg or the genuine article. ;D

matagal nang sarado megamixx kasi as early as april if i remember it right e wala na sila.
i was able to get quite a few titles from them, the fellowship extended version one of them,
in fact. ok lang sa akin yung price kahit papano at the time. kung gusto nyong himatayin, check out audio visual driver over at shang rila mall. they make a killing with their prices. imagine nyo yung lemony snicket title nila na one disc lang goes for 2000 bucks. the spider man 2 dvd went for 2200.

Dun ko nga nakuha yung Fellowship of the Ring EE, Two Towers EE, Simpsons Season 1 and 2, Buffy Season 4. Sayang d ko nabili yung Transformers Season 1 boxsets.

from what i know... megamixx was the store in megamall, queue was their sister store in virra mall... i am not aware of any sister stores in shoppesville. (although with many of the old VM stores moving to shoppesville... it's possible they are there now...) hope someone can confirm this one. ;)
