In my experience, it's much cheaper thru Amazon. Most stores will charge additional for tax. ;)

Generally cheaper in Amazon.  When I go to the US, I always order on-line.  I save maybe between $20-$30 for every 3 BDs compared to Best Buy, Target, Walmart, etc.  just as long as I order a minimum of $25 to avail of the free shipping within the US.

I agree cheaper bumili ng bluray movie sa amazon kahit paship dito sa Pinas compared to the price sold here locally in the A/V stores which is 1500 pesos compared to 1200 pesos. By the way the price is already for new released movies/block buster. :D

Use Johnny Air instead of FEDEX. I've never been taxed using them.

Amazon UK is no doubt cheaper than US Amazon but you have to be extra careful that you are buying the region-free BDs & most importantly, your purchase should not exceed the allowed limit for tax free purchases from abroad.

1. Harry Potter year 1-5 - 15 plus 3 shipping more less P1.1k lang in pesos
2. Band of Brothers 6 disc 15 plus 3 shipping mga P1.1k lang din
3. Planet Earth 12 plus 3 shipping less than 1k lang

Pwede mong gamitin yong account mo sa Amazon US if you have one. Amazon UK will allow you to ship directly to your Philippine address if you are buying CDs, BDs, DVDs & books. It will be shipped by amazon using the services of Royal Logistics pero iki-claim mo sa local post office. If not mistaken, your purchase should not exceed $50 para walang tax. Kung lampas $50 mas mahal pa yong BD mo kesa bumili ka ng lokal version.

That's right! Actually, account created from amazon.com can be use in other amazon websites such as amazon.ca, amazon.co.jp and amazon.de

But as said the cheapest one is the amazon.co.uk.

:D

ITS NOT entirely more affordable to buy from Amazon main. For one, do remember that they have raised their shipping cost to the Philippines prohibitively. That every item, and thats every other item - comes out against you being charged P250.00 each. Therefore, if you bought five merchandise, you're being levied P1,250. for the entire shipment. Wala namang problema ito kung mababa talaga ang dollar, the affordability of these things hinges 99% on the currency exchange rate or the strength of the peso. But because our brilliant Central Bank routinely intervenes with the exchange, artificially and manipulatively keeping the dollar up - wala talagang chance that you could buy liberally more from US-based Amazon.

Therefore sinong kontrabido sa aspirations ng marami dito to shop more? Its mainly the Central Bank. idiot yang ni-reappoint ni P-Noy na si Armando Tetangco, its confounding why a tainted Arroyo man like him would be allowed to continue with their posts when they've contributed too in the criminal atrocities of Arroyo against the economy. Tetangco is the mastermind why the peso could not get raised to its realistic and true level. All regional banks who still minds the Philippine economic status (like HSBC and Citibank) has perennially declared that the peso's true exchange worth ought to be in the neighborhood of P38 to P40 - but it looks like to the keen observer that an invisible hand is always intruding to pull down the peso. Of course, Tetangco is not entirely the culprit. The weaker-peso policy is ferociously lobbied alongside by exporters and OCW-dependent sectors (pinakamaingay dito ay yung grupo ni Benson Dakay na seaweed grower, at ng grupo ng BDO-Henry Sy who wants to rapaciously corner the dollar-hoarding and the OCW remittance pipeline).

If you truly wanted to collect these things, the best alternative is to get from Amazon.UK - this is the clever fellows' "BEST-KEPT SECRET" now..

im new in buying things from amazon. i am on the point of clicking "place my orders". my question is could you choose the shipping company? because i cant seem to see that option before clicking "place my orders" btw, its amazon.co.uk

^No.  You can only choose/modify shipping speed. Not the shipping company.

Johnny Air is a courier based in NY or NJ.   Amazon uses either USPS or UPS to send packages to Johnny Air Cargo if that is your shipping address.  JAC then will send your item to your address.  To be able to use JAC, you have to have an account with them.  You can register with them for free.

I have been using Johnny Air consistently now for about a year. It's quick and works out a lot faster than using mail. I generally have my stuff in my hands 8-14 days after leaving amazons fulfillment depot. Going to use them to ship my Epson projector from the States. Just wish they were available in UK/ Canada/ Europe/ Japan as well.

I just want to get a feedback about the tax thing with customs.  I am just bringing this up because of my recent order for a PS3 disc with another internet based shopping co. (not amazon)  where I got taxed for more than 1K.  I was wondering if this is happening as well to the folks here ordering their bluray from amazon?

Yes, I pay customs around P 40 for orders below $50

any tips in buying in amazon?

when you click on New BD's, i see a lot of options where i could get the bd's. it normally sorted with the cheapest down to the most expensive. im tempted to select the cheapest of course but i have some hesitations. are they all god and legit? are there any drawbacks why they sell cheaper than others?

Tia!

If you mean pricing from amazon and third parties, it's safest to buy from Amazon themselves (not always the lowest price), then those fulfilled by Amazon (the goods are sort of consigned to Amazon), then other third parties (be sure to buy from some with plenty of high rating).  Not all third parties will ship to the Philippines.

If you mean shipping, then go for the lowest one.  The higher priced shipping are often through Fedex or DHL, where oftentimes, you get taxed.   If you have a JohnnyAir account, then ship there.  If you buy plenty of items from Amazon, consider getting their Amazon Prime program...

thats a good question bond, james bond... :-)

i can see members offering shipping for a small fee and then theres a courier offering their services as well. nakakalito db :-) i have a relative in the us, kaya for now, sa kanya ko papaship the box na lang going here.

which leads me to another question, ilan ba ang pede pa box from the US? yung allowable ni customs nila or natin.
