Bought mine last Sept. 19. in SNS.
Pros, reads most of my HD movies from USB except for 2012:
Video: MPEG4 Video (H264) 1280x528 23.98fps [Video]
Audio: AAC 48000Hz stereo 1536Kbps [Audio]
Cons,
Backlight bleeding in the upper right and left corners, and slight on the lower right and left,
VGA connection on my MSI laptop with ATI HD3450 works only in 1600x1200,
on my Vaio with Intel GMA works only perfectly with 1680x1050 max,
if I try running at 1920x1080 the lcd proportions goes all wrong.
OT: the bundled HT805 haven't arrived yet.

I bought mine last Aug pa before the huge discounts... also at SNS.
Aside from not getting the discounts which happened 3 weeks later, I'm very satisfied with it together with the HT805. The built-in media player can play almost all (i'd say around 95%) of the Blu-Ray and HD movies on my 1TB external HD. The only drawback was having to convert most of the sound of the movies from DTS to Dolby Digital.
I haven't noticed any backlight bleeding with my unit but that may be due to the fact that this is my first TV purchase and I'm not as discerning as other users yet...

ganyan din ang problem ko sabi ni sir vic papalitan niya ang unit, ang hindi niya sure is baka lumabas ulit ang bleeding after 2 months

Sori to butt in, 32ld460 yung aking nabili ko rin this month, i noticed na meron din backlight bleeding sa center lower part ng lcd, tanung ko lang po, would it qualify for replacement ng unit? im worried na baka lumaki pag-tagal tagal yung bleeding..thanks

pwede yan ireplace ni sir vic kapag sa sns ka bumili , baka papalitan ko yung akin,meron kasi small part sa lower left eh.
Pero try ko baka makuha sa settings

Yup sa SNS ako bumili, covered pa siya ng 30 period nila, worry ko kasi baka in the future bigla na lang kumalat yung bleeding, might as well coordinate with Sir Vic, other than the bleeding satisfied naman sa ld460 ;D

yan din ang problem ko, pero hindi naman ka grabe katulad ng nasa itaas na picture.Try ko muna ayusin ang settings baka makuha pa, kapag ayaw talaga its time to replace the unit.
Satisfy din ako sa unit ko kaso yung bleeding lang talaga ang problem :-[

If the same problem will occur after 2 months from replacing the unit, then that's a problem. Now i am thinking whether to push through with the deal or find another brand/model.

It's always best to call SNS. Atleast we know that sir vic will replace the unit. :)

Sa performance naman kasi ng tv na to satisfy ako yun nga lang ang bleeding ang problem

yun sakin kasi meron sa lower right side mdyo malaki pero after 2 days pag balik ko nawala na sya...

also ive notice kung nag lipat ako from standard to cinema or to vivid. meron running white background although minimal lang naman. kung i off ko mawawala rin. (ito yun parang nakikita natin sa mga news sa tv. kung hinarap camera sa crt tv parang meron running na white)

madalas nating nasasabi pero mahirap ata kung ganyang tsambahan amigo. paano kung sa province ka so you just have to live with its imperfection? sa lawak na ng technology on flat tv di ba mas dapat pa ngang almost flawless ang production?
ok lang kung papalitan habang under warranty pa e paano kung lagpas na? higit sa lahat hassle para sa mga malalayong lugar.
kung galing cdr king yan, ok lang matsambahan di ba ;D ::) ???

balik cv700 na lang siguro ako. been to a store yesterday and kinda leaning towards ld460 na sana kaso with this thread, hmmmm...
i don't think it's an isolated case. too bad.

Oo nga eh... I think it's better to get CV700 + xtreamer sidewinder package...

sa ps3 games at blurays ok na ok ito.ang downside talaga yung bleeding.
I called up LG , they will send their techician tomorrow to check my unit, baka sa settings lang ng t.v.(sana), minsan kasi paginiba ko yung picture settings nawala yung yung onting bleeding, tapos binawasan ko yung contrast at brightness.
Sino ba yung carlo na yan?.hehehe.my ganito ba siyang unit?

Side by side ko nga tom sa SNS ang 40CV700 and 42LD460. Tignan ko kung ano iuuwi ko bukas. :D Kung hindi lang sa backligh bleeding, sold na ako sa LG eh :(

cons, when playing usb movies from tv to htib using aux optical, there is an intermittent no audio coming from the speakers lasting from 1-2 secs. happened on several full hd/hd/sd movies and video clips that run and sounds smoothly on the pc. noticed less than 5 times the interruption occurred per file.
this and the backlight bleeding while watching 'the descent' will drive you nuts.

First of all, my unit has no backlight bleeding... Buti na lang! But I've been occasionally having this sound interruption in some of the movies/tv series I've been watching on my hard drive via the built-in media player. It was driving me nuts since it seemed to happen every 2 minutes on the last glee episode I watched.
Then I realized it must be the optical cable since I read somewhere, bawal ma-twist yun optical to a certain degree. So I tried straightening it out and moving the HT-805 further from the wall para hindi maipit yun dulo nun cable. Voila! Seems like the sound interruptions were suddenly gone! Hopefully it stays that way.

yup power consumption using those digital watt meter will be a good help for us to decide.. the listed power rating of this hdtv is 190watts

You need to format your external hard drive to FAT32 file system. There are a lot of freewares that you can download to format bigger hard drives.
805PM accepts only FAT32 while LD460 accepts NTFS and FAT32.

yes kasya. pahiga mo. bali yung isang side naka sandal sa sandalan sa likdo then yung isang side, naka dikit sa dalawang upuan sa harap.

Actually I paid for my bundle already, since pumayag si Sir Vic 2 saturdays ago.. Kaya talagang delivery na lang ang hintay ko.

What brand brand po sir yung nakita nyo? Same price level po ba? Kung specs ay mas mataas pero price is mas mataas naman, not apple to apple. Kung higher specs nga pero inferior brand, baka problema naman sa after-sales service or siraan din. In the end, your choice pa rin sir. Pero ang maganda kasi sa LG, bang for the buck talaga ang package ng TV and HT.

Not too long ago (mga 3 weeks ago), I was in the same predicament (ibang size lang nga, pero LG LD 460 model din). Hintay ng hintay, tawag ng tawag. Nag-set na ako ng deadline at lilipat na talaga ako if hindi pa dumating, compromise na kung compromise (kasi naman naka-setup na yung paglalagyan niya with measurements, etc). I checked the alternatives (toshiba, panasonic plasma, samsung, sony), their respective specifications, price, etc. Pero in terms of "value" (kanya-kanya na sa PQ), LG LD 460 pa rin. Yun lang feature na "usb divx HD" is huge (parang may free Network Media Tank ka). Buti na lang dumating nung very day na ginawa kong deadline, or else ibang brand na talaga.
In short, it's worth the wait naman (or "the juice is worth the squeeze").
Pero if you want to look into alternatives, check / browse the latest issue of HWM (Hardware Magazine, yung local edition). They compared LG LD 460, Samsung c550, Sony EX400, and a Panasonic (forgot the model) in sizes 42 and up. I detect some bias from the reviewer though, dahil medyo hindi "tugma" yung breakdown niya dun sa final verdict. Oh well, check it out nalang din.

Konting antay pa at di kayo magsisisi sa 42 inch, sa akin kasi first lcd tv ko ito, dati 32 inch lang ang hinahanap ko at kahit HD ready lang., target ko nga Toshiba 32AV700 or PanasonicC20 or LG LD330 (puro entry level ito hehehe). Pero habang naghahanap ako sa mga stores, nakapag-decide ako na "the bigger the better" because I use it for movie watching only. Sa standard settings lang ok na ko, AV Mode set to "off" using dvd-9 at Pioneer DV-610 as upscaling dvd player at yung output nakaconnect sa 2.1ch para maganda sound. Walang backlight bleeding itong unit ko at satisfied ako sa performance.

Malaki difference na 5 inches in terms of lcd tv size, yun ngang 32in to 37in parang naging baby yung 32in pag magkatabi. Even between 40in and 42in, I'll choose the 42in. May dagdag na size sa height at width. The bigger the better pag flat panel ang usapan.

This is a nice idea from Dobermann. I also already sent my rant to LG about their pending delivery to SNS. Anyone from here who knows the email add of the officers of LG would surely help our case.

Went to SNS kanina and already set my mind to either take the 37 or 42 of toshiba or even maybe Avision for the free 22" promo. But Sir Vic said stocks from LG will be coming in tomorrow and "baka" kasama na ang mga 42. And hazel said, "Sir, kung nakapag-hantay na kayo ng 3 weeks sayang naman kung 1 day na lang di nyo pa antayin ang 42 nyo?" Oo nga naman. And I also saw the difference between the 2 kasi a 42 of Avision was beside a 37. Layo ng difference. ;D So lets join hands in praying na sana meron na delivery bukas ng 42. And sana walang back-light bleeding. ;D

Wow.. In my case, I emailed them(through website) at around 11PM, the next day I got a reply at 10AM, even got a call from them... Bumilib nga ako sa customer service nila eh, even calling me up.

Buti na lang I gave an downpayment as reservation para priority kami! :) I already tried playing my movies in my WD-HDD and so far nababasa naman. Kelangan lang yata naka-format ang HDD into FAT32. Wala pa rin yata nag-popost kung anong settings na maganda for our units??? Any experts dyan who would recommend their tested settings?

Ang speaker ko po is Altec Lansing 5.1...Diba po simple lang naman ang pagkabit nun, I mean...video lang naman ang tatanggalin ko from the PC Monitor tapos kabit ko using DVI/HDMI cable tapos plug ko sa HDMI port ng HD TV tapos ok na po diba?
Tsaka isa pa po...Kung bibili ako lets say yung HT 805PM...paano po ang gagawin ko kung ikakabit ko po ang PC ko sa HD TV pero at the same time ang gusto ko po ay yung sound manggagaling sa HT805PM at hindi sa Altec na PC speakers? anu bang mga output ports ng pc mo? ang ht805 kc meron lang dalwang audio inputs, first is AUX which is analog (no DTS/bitsteam) 2nd is optical which is digital where you can enjoy real 5.1 surround..better if yung pc mo ay merong optical output so you can connect it to the ht805.

I've been lurking the message boards for about 2 weeks already. I must say that it really helped me in narrowing my choices down to 2. I'm bent on getting an LG460, but am still undecided as to which size to get...the 37" or the 42" variant. Also undecided on whether to get it from SnS or from Anson's Q-Plaza in Cainta.
Pros for SnS:
1. Ms.Hazel of SnS gave me a good price (cash and straight) for both 37" & 42" units bundled with HT805.
2. Ms.Hazel went out of her way to have a unit reserved for me the other day and texted me yesterday afternoon to advise that new stock has arrived.
3. Free delivery (?)
Cons for SnS:
1. Mas malayo sa bahay
Pros for Anson's:
1. Ang sabi ng Anson's...kaya nilang tapatan yung price ng 42" (cash or straight).
2. Mas malapit sa bahay.

I've been lurking the message boards for about 2 weeks already. I must say that it really helped me in narrowing my choices down to 2. I'm bent on getting an LG460, but am still undecided as to which size to get...the 37" or the 42" variant. Also undecided on whether to get it from SnS or from Anson's Q-Plaza in Cainta.
Pros for SnS:
1. Ms.Hazel of SnS gave me a good price (cash and straight) for both 37" & 42" units bundled with HT805.
2. Ms.Hazel went out of her way to have a unit reserved for me the other day and texted me yesterday afternoon to advise that new stock has arrived.
3. Free delivery (?)
Cons for SnS:
1. Mas malayo sa bahay
Pros for Anson's:
1. Ang sabi ng Anson's...kaya nilang tapatan yung price ng 42" (cash or straight).
2. Mas malapit sa bahay.
3. Sales Lady has helped me get good prices/deals for the other appliances that I bought from them in the past 4 weeks.

Go for the 42" from SNS. For sure di ka magsisisi. 5" is a big difference kaya if you can afford and you have the space, go for the bigger screen. Tama ka on the pricing scheme kasi kung kaya naman pala ng Anson tapatan yung SNS price, dapat from the start pa lang best price na ang binigay sayo. Sa SNS kasi best price na agad kaya no need to haggle. And another advantage sa SNS is their after-sales service. Kung may defect and units, just call them and ask for replacement (if within warranty). I'm from Bulacan but I still went to SNS and picked-up my TV and HT. Right now, I'm enjoying my first 42" LCD w/ HT from SNS! ;D

anu bang mga output ports ng pc mo? ang ht805 kc meron lang dalwang audio inputs, first is AUX which is analog (no DTS/bitsteam) 2nd is optical which is digital where you can enjoy real 5.1 surround..better if yung pc mo ay merong optical output so you can connect it to the ht805.

Pero tama po ba ung iniisip ko na since ihookup ko lang ung HDTV using DVI-HDMI converter...magkakasound pa rin naman po diba?gamit ang altec?kasi nakakabit pa rin ung altec sa PC Soundcard?

I can now confidently say that the after-sales service of SNS is very good, and as a testament notably to Hazel for promptly and professionally dealt with my tv issue.
SNS is highly recommended.
I still have another issue that is very annoying. The bundled HT805 still have the intermittent sound interruption when using the optical connection.
I tried un-twisting the cable but still have this no-sound once in a while when playing via usb with the 805 but the tv still have the sound playing. This lasts for 3-5 seconds and occurs several times in a particular movie. Haven't have the time yet to buy new optical cable to check if the problem is with the cable or the 805.

Observe your unit with another optic cable. If the problem continues, just bring back the unit for replacement. :)

Alternative will be the Toshiba 40av700 at P36K. This TV delivers best TV reception. It also presents rich color and very deep black contrast. :)

Follow-up .. sorry ha .. If there is indeed back-light bleeding, would it be a cause for premature failure of the TV set as a whole? Or its "just-the-way-they-made-it" kinda thing and not to worry about it?

Imo its more of the technology in itself. Try to backread the 37 inch topic for this TV. There are pictures.
The technology for LCD tvs cause backlight bleed. Is the main reason sir. But not all sets have backlight bleed.

symptoms? look at the corners, lcd without backlight bleeding should be pure black.. with backlight bleeding, you'll see some of those annoying spots of white..

hey guys, just wanna say that this really is an excellent TV.
one problem though, nanood ako ng LOTR: Fellowship of the Ring using a HDD connected directly to the TV. tumitigil yung pag-play nya ng movie at around 2hrs 3mins. tried The Dark Knight and ganun din. so may limit ang pag-play nya? kasi kinabit ko sa PS3 ko yung HDD tumuloy naman so hindi yung files ang may sira.
anybody encountered this as well?
BTW, 500GB Seagate formatted to Fat32 yung external HDD ko.

AFAIK, known issue.
Consider getting a real HD Media Player.
Aside from more media being supported, PQ/VQ/SQ will all be better.
Suggested Best Bang for the buck HD Media Player is XTreamer. :)

My 4 years old son just watched transformers 2 ROTF for the third time and he's still begging for more. Buti na lang pinatulog na ng mommy nya. I just watched IP Man 1 & 2. Didn't experienced any blurred scenes or ghosting or anything distorted on my 42LD460. The best talaga ang TV na 'to! Another long weekend, another movie marathon na naman! :)

guys good day, been lurking here for a while, yesterday kumuha kami ng 42LD460 sa gadgets in style festival and tested it agad medyo na amazed ako sa size coming from a 32LH70 so hindi ko napansin na medyo grabe pala yun bleeding sa side nito kanina ko lang napansin. already told my father na kasi siya ang nag purchase yesterday, my errand siya ngayon kaya baka tomorrow na siya makatawag sa gadgets and style, pag ganito mga sir replacement ba agad?

I was in Ansons Trinoma earlier and observed the 42ld460 display unit. During colorful scenes ok na ok itong lcd na ito. but when the pure white screen with the LG logo appears, I can see some discoloration sa sides. Yellowish white(?). This may be unit dependent but na turn-off ako.
Now, on its side is the newer 42LE7500 na malinis yung display. Will wait for the price for this or either the 42LE5500 to lower next year.
Nevertheless, 42ld460 has a very good display and congrats to those who bought it. Sensitive lang siguro ako masyado hehe :D

sir yun mfg date nun nakuha namin was october from gadgets in style and may bleeding siya sa sides, will be returning it tomorrow to get a new one :D

This is a question I posted on the 37LD460 forum. Maybe the 42" users can help give me advise on settings:
Question po sa mga 37LD460 users. How do you minimize judder (esp on movie sequences with lots of movements) when playing from an HD source such as Bluray? Assuming you play bluray discs at 1080p/24 frames per sec, then use a high speed HDMI cable (at least 10.2Gpbs). The TV refresh rate is at 60Hz. So maski ano gawin mo, may mismatch talaga sa frame speed & hence, motion dahil 60 is not a multiple of 24. Which means juddering (jerky motion) is inherent on the display. WHAT'S THE BEST VIDEO/PICTURE SETTING TO MINIMIZE JUDDER, WITHOUT ADVERSELY AFFECTING OTHER VARIABLES ON PICTURE QUALITY? And how do you set it? Does the Real Cinema function really work to minimize this effect? Or is just another useless function?
I plan to buy this next week, as it's priced right for its size, contrast and resolution. And it's within my budget. Judder is the only downside I see, as I will be using this mostly as a monitor for bluray discs at 1080p/24fps, maybe .mkv files, some DVD-video at 1080i, and DVD-media files from my camcorder at 480p. Blurays and DVDs are played on the same bluray player connected through hi-speed HDMI. I won't be using the TV's audio functions.

i got my replacement kahapon from gadgets in style kasi all four sides merun bleeding october mfg date, took some time bago mapalitan kasi wala raw sila makita bleeding and sabi ko sa dark room namin tingnan, nun nakita na normal lang raw >:( pero at last minute pinalitan rin un replacement unit my bleeding parin sa lower left corner pero ok na to kesa dun sa first one, hassle na kasi bumalik pa kung ganun rin lang uli mangyayari, learned some lesson and never will again :-X

Mahirap naman sir yung ganun tsambahan. I guess, LG must keep a close watch on their quality control. I mean, after the assembly line siguro naman they turn on the unit to check kung ano ang nakikita sa screen. Some of our fellow pdvders go to the extent of flying in their units from Manila for additional cost.

All LCDs (CFL or LED) regardless of brand have backlight bleed issues. Just google it. Some are minimal, while others are like a flashlight beaming from the edge to center of the screen. Once you notice you have a backlight bleed, Its annoying bec whenever theres a dark scene. You'll notice it right away.
Good thing is that most manufacturers are replacing them without any hassle as long as its still under warranty.

well i wont be using this that much except for movies naman kasi gift ko to sa parents ko, just got off from my first work a month ago which somewhat father ko ang main reason kung bakit ako na hire ng walang hirap so as a way of saying thanks eh eto ang gift ko sa kanila, will still be using my LH70 for gaming kasi eto ang nasa room ko and sa living room yun LD460 :D

tama. kahit ako hindi sensitive sa ganyan, pero nung nalaman ko na may ganon at nahilig ako manood ng movies na may mga dark scenes, naging praning ako. my wife doesn't even notice it pero ako laging doon napapatingin pag madilim na ang eksena.
had my lg replaced on the 7th day from date of purchase, pucha, yung replacement, mas matindi ang bleeding. kung noon parang sisikat palang ang araw, ngayon medyo nakadungaw na. bad trip.
nag punta pa ang lg sa bahay, sabi wala naman. maya maya, ay oo nga meron. haaay... ngayon, irereplace na naman daw kaso nakakapagod na magdala ng tv. lalo na kung busy ang sched mo at ang dami daming tao sa mall, ang hirap hirap mag park.
pero in fairness sa lg, gagawa naman sila ng paraan hanggat di ka satisfied sa purchase mo.

all lcd's are prone to backlight bleeding, the longer you use the unit, the more highly it will have in the future..even my old 3yr old sammy now has backlight bleed on all 4 corners..haven't noticed that before i even learned that there's such an issue on lcd's..it's hardly noticeable in normal scenes, but in dark scenes, it'll really annoy you..

once you know about it. parang nagiging over conscious ka and you might even imagine na merong ganung problema ang tv yet wala naman.

Guys, i did a canvas from several stores: ansons ortigas, abensons farmers, western farmers, gadgets in styles shang and sounds and styles shang and the one on the 5th floor (forgot the store name) and this is really the cheapest 42" full hd lcdtv that you can find and its counterparts from other brands will either be only 40", plasma, has ltd features or not a popular brand. ill visit ansons, walter mart and cash n carry this week end to canvas for the cheapest or best counterpart. so far the cheapest that ive been offered for 42 LD460 + HT805PM + Wall bracket + HDMI cable is by Ansons Ortigas. But im still hopeful that Bossing Vic will give a better price since its Chistmas time ;D however, their stocks still hasnt arrived. Still having a conversation w/ bossing via PM..

planning to use that 42ld460 both for movies and gaming specifically PS3. im still thinking if im gonna get that HT805PM since ill get a PS3 soon after. do you think sayang b tlga ung player dun s ht805pm since magagamit ko nman ung PS3 (w/ blu ray pa dba?) for movies? and kng ang kukukunin ko nlng is 5.1 HT less player, what is the best yet cheap/affordable that i can setup w/ PS3?

You might want to audition the dl460 and 32LE5500 side by side, and tell the sales man to play a blu ray movie. I also wanted the 42DL460 initially, but bought the 32L5500 after auditioning. Superb sa PS3, nuff said.

Considering LD460 is full hd, maganda pa rin nman sya for movies and gaming.. and since its 10' inch bigger, w/c is really a big factor for watching movies.. id still go w/ the 42LD460.. yes pinagshow down ko n sla s store nung ngcacanvas ako... 8)

Did you audition them on blu ray? since you'll be buying a PS3 :)
I did audition with blu ray and all i can say is that the 42" is big and clear and 2D, but the 32" is clear and with 3d effect. Even in a smaller screen I love 3d effect which feels like I'm in the game or movie itself. :) I didn't know what I'm missing since I bought the 5500 :)

smaller have always better pq than bigger screen. It's because the pixels are pack denser in small screen.

Buti na lang at na google ko etong forum na to. Actuallly nasasayangan ako kasi marami palang options like which Home Theater to bundle kung sa Sights and Sounds ka bibili. Anyway I got mine from Anson's Trinoma. Bale october pa lang noon, naghahanap na ako ng big a** TV for console gaming and HD Movie viewing. So far Im so glad na maraming satisfied owner ng first LCD TV na nabili ko! Na disappoint lang ako due to the fact that the HT bundled with my TV is H335d, which unfortunately hindi pwede ma output ung sounds ng TV while watching HD movies from the built in Popcorn Hour like player ng TV, which saves me money kasi I thought before purchasing this unit, I need to buy a HD player, or Popcor Hour player. Now I just use my WD 500G passport, download movies using my computer and I'm good to go. Regarding dun sa nakaka encounter ng playback issues thru USB external HD, ang comment ko kasi I have not experienced any playback issues yet, as long as MKV format ung movie you are playing, so far so good. Also, na experience ko din ung "not supported audio" because LD460 does not support DTS, I google for it, and I found this link, http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/extract_ac3_or_dts_audio_from_mkv_files.cfm
which eventually resolved my issue!

Last night ko pa gusto mag post dito, pero di ko ma receive ung confirmation email to activate my account. I also want to post my questions too in related to the several topics raised in this thread, like ung backlight bleeding, which I'm very thankful na wala ung unit ko. Bale dito ko rin nabasa sa forum na to about it, di ko nga alam may ganun pla! Anyway so far ang problem na hanggang ngaun eh di ko pa na resolve eh ung audio out from LD460 to my H335d ba un. Kasi sa mga nabasa ko, my options are limited. Its either bumili ako ng Optical to RCA adapter, or completely palitan ung Home Theater ko. Kasi buying a HD player like Xtreamer ba un will not be my option, kasi nawalan na rin ng purpose ung built in HD player ng LD460. Kasi ung PS3 ko naka output ung audio dun sa HT, including ung digi box ng sky cable, ung TV na lang ang hindi.
Anyone help! Any other option?

Sorry to inform you. But that is a very obvious backlight bleed. Dont worry LG will replace it for you.
can i just call lg and ask them to replace my unit wala parin kasi stock sila sir vic eh and also what are the consequences of a back light bleed in the long run i mean nakakasira ba sya ng screen?

once you know about it. parang nagiging over conscious ka and you might even imagine na merong ganung problema ang tv yet wala naman.

maybe true, but since this is pinoydvd, people here are critics for great watching experience and wouldnt settle for anything below par. the advices obtained from this site would serve as a guide for novice users and help them maximize their viewing experience and investment.
as for any issue, it is best to solve it early than find a cure later on once it is out of warranty na.

Newbie here, went to Ansons Makati (beside landmark) last 27 December to canvass the 42 LD460 and decided to purchase it right away but no stocks available. my setup is 42ld460 w/ ht805. the player wont play .mkv files. it wont even show all the .mkv files on the menu. the tv can play it however, im having a hard time setting it up to aux pra ung sounds eh mang gagaling p rin s HT khit ngpplay ako s usb connected to the tv. nka 'aux opt' n ung player, pag inadjust ung volume ng tv using the tv remot, lmlbas ung ht volume s tv pro, no sounds coming from the ht.. really confused, somebody please enlighten me.. TIA :-\

^^ Sir, in-off nyo na ba yung TV speaker (Menu > Audio > TV Speaker: Off)? AFAIK, you need to turn it off para ma-output sa HTIB ung sound :)

actually hindi mo agad makikita to pag na test sa shop, it takes months bago mo malaman, the best way is to get the oct manufacturing date or the latest kung meron pa and lastly the warranty.

Backlight bleed are difficult to spot on a brightly lit room. Also backlight bleed most likely to appear after 30 to 45 minutes. So its really difficult to test in a showroom environment. Its a hit and miss thing.

It's annoying dahil I have to finish the movie on my PC pa kasi bitin. Siguro naka 10 movies na akong ganito so naghanap na ako sa net ng issue about this pero wala akong makitang sagot.

why don't you try using your pc as your player then connect it to your lcd. try to search in this site on how to convert your pc to htpc. i also sometimes encounter this problem kaya i usually use my laptop as media player. luckily hdmi na laptop ko kaya no problem with regards to connectivity. this is a good alternative habang wala pang media player. :)

but some mkv files' audios are not supported by the media player of the LCD. kung wala pa pang-afford sa HD media player, best thing is to convert your cpu to media player. mura lang po ang VGA cable sa CDRking kung di HDMI ang cpu mo. besides, most hd movies downloaded are in mp4 format. by turning your cpu to htpc, kahit ano pa format yan kayang kaya mo na play sa PC mo.

I just recently watched "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" It kept on stopping at 1:16:00 mark so what I did was convert the mp4 to avi and it worked great. Kaso hassle kelangan ko pa i-convert. Di naman umabot ng 2 hours yung movie.

Ilang watts ang 42LD460, maximum wattage is around 190watts. By using Energy Saving feature pwede pa bumaba ang electric consumption by a maximum of 70 percent daw (madilim na sceen pag ganun, me Im using minimum energy savings at naka-off yung AV mode pag dvd-9 movie at pag cable TV naka-cinema yung AV mode para tipid dahil I'm after lang naman sa malaki ang screen at di naman ganun ka ganda at linaw ang cable signal). Di na rin ako gumagamit ng AVR, di naman ma fluctuate ang electricity sa lugar namin. Regulated din ang gamit namin sa LCD pag tv use lang crt pa rin madalas.

"damaged" na. backlight bleed is considered one.
will it get worst? most probably.

To Sir Civic_Racer, ang general rule sa paggamit ng AVR is twice the maximum wattage of your total load, so I think 500 watts is enough for your needs at syempre mas malaki allowance mas Ok. Pwersado kasi AVR pag eksakto lang pwede pang ma overheat at masira yung AVR at baka madamay pa yung LCD TV at Iba pang naka-plug.

bought this 2 weeks ago at SNS... My friend and I were planning to get the Samsung 40C530 but they ran out of stock on the same day. But it was actually a fortunate incident... we were scared about the backlight bleeding of this LG but after seeing the Samsung 40C530's blue contamination on the black/shadow of the movies... that made us decide to go for the 42LD460. There wasn't any contamination. (literally may small blue blobs sa shadow when you pause the movie)
The 42 is noticeably larger than the samsung's 40. Gulat ako kitang kita pala difference sa laki.
So for the backlight bleeding... we made sure to get the latest manufactured LCDs... we got December 2010s manufactured dates ;D
Yes it can play from USB HDDs. ( i use a WDC 1TB Elite ext drive on it just for testing )
I don't know kung tumitigil pero I lost hope on making it a Movie player when it couldn't play audio files from some mkv files. (i think AC3s with 5.1 ch)
How do you plan to hook up a VGA cable to the LCD? there's isn't any VGA in on this LCD. ( i don't think that's normal... PC LCDs do have VGA in's but I'm not too sure its the same case for LCD TVs nowadays. )
Some observation. There's no RCA out on this LCD TV. There's only 1 optical out(for audio) and headphone out on the side.
Only 2 HDMI INs. Component Out.
Overall I'm pretty satisfied for the price.
I use it with a Pioneer Receiver with a PS3 and Measy as Media player. I suggest you invest on a dedicated Media Player. The built-in media player is just a "Plus" in my opinion.

bro, if you are really in dire need of help then follow my instructions so we can isolate the cause and possibly find a solution to the problem:(the board LG is referring to is possibly the SIGNAL INPUT MODULE)
1) use other INPUT (RGB or USB or AV or Component or Tuner) and find out if the problem is still the same.
2) tap the sides of your TV and see what happens (we want to know if the cause is loose connections only).
3)is the TV with UNAFFECTED sound?
post us your findings and I will try to suggest a possible remedy.
you see bro, this problem can be caused by other things like loose connections, Power Supply Board, Inverter Module, Heat, etc. unless the LG tech has already determined with CERTAINTY that it is the Signal Input Module.
if it is heat, then we have a very simple solution to that.

First of all, thanks sir for trying to help out... here goes...
1. I use HDMI, and tried the RGB also, although I'm not sure if the RGB/component cable is connected to my DVD player, I was not able to check, the problem is still the same.
2. Tapped it a couple of times, still same thing. When the LG techs removed the back portion of the TV, what they did was remove the ribbons and placing it back, then told me to use the PS3 again and observe, the next day, we turned on the PS3 until noon, then the problem returned.
3. The has sound even if the video is affected.
I really am not convinced with what the techs said, they really did not check it thouroughly, anyways, they said it could be overheating or something, this morning, we watched a movie (dvd), after 30 mins or so, the problem came back, rested it a bit, then watched, same thing.
Could it be heat/overheating?!?

not an expert pero i think you can eliminate the overheating possibility by focusing a fan on the tv (at the vents) then observe. napansin mo ba if meron built in fan yung tv nung binuksan? did the techs check if the fan was working?
yung placement ng tv di naman kulob?may ample ventilation etc?

Then it could be component thermal malfunction.
The best remedy is to have the module replaced.
But since this will be very expensive, you may install 12 volts PC fans at the air vents of the back panel, (as also suggested by our PDVD member) just to keep the heat sensitive component(s) from overheating.
This is a temporary solution only.
I already discussed this fan method in my previous posts in other forums.
If after installation of fans did not solve the problem, it could be bloated capacitors in the Power Supply Board. This is far cheaper and easier to do by a tech guy.
I believe you can talk to LG main office and convince them that your TV MUST be serviced for free since it is only 13 months old.
Make some noise in a very polite but demanding voice at them.
I tell you bro. I did this to one brand and it worked.

Thanks guys, will try the fan method first, and will try to talk to LG today to consider the warranty, what I'm really disappointed about is, we really don't use the tv much, we use it on saturdays and sundays only for the ps3 and some movies, and the techs really did not do much to isolate what is wrong, not much diagnostic techniques if I may call it... :(

I am confident that LG will service your TV for free considering how forums like PDVD made LG very popular. Bro, emphasize to them that you are a regular member of PDVD and other forum sites para medyo may impact sa kanila.
Hope yours end up okay just like ng ilang members natin na nagka problema sa mga TV nila.

Flickering, monitor goes blank, with sound. And you are using PS3 only using HDMI connection? Well, that's a classic example of what has happened to my 42LD460 but I only using it for movie watching using upscaling DVD player using HDMI input. I think walang sira ang TV mo. Eto gawin mo Bro., sa PS3 console i-set mo lang yung HDMI color back to factory pre-set adjustment, wag mo na ibahin yung factory setting. Sa akin kasi when I adjusted the HDMI color setting sa DVD player to RGB or Full Range RGB dun na lumabas yung flickering problem ko. I even thought the dvd player is defective or the dvd-9 disc or the TV itself has a problem pero I decided na wag muna ipagawa ayoko kasi na magkaron agad ng repair yung tv. And when I set the HDMI color back to Composite (factory setting)., flickering problem is gone., try mo baka makatulong.........

To Secky 74, try this setting on the PS3, on theXMB, go to settings then display settings, select Deep Color output (HDMI) and set it to off. Nabasa ko lang yan sa ibang forum pero sa akin HDMI DVD player na Pioneer naman ang source ko., hope this help you bro...

I did it na sir, sat pa kasi uwi ko, so sat ko pa matetest sir, kaso kahit na dvd player ko ang gamitin (LG din), same thing, parang lumala nga, kasi befor enila buksan, kahit buong day manuod ng dvd walang problem, ngayon mga 1 hour nagloloko na siya. :(

Update, went home yesterday noon, turned the TV on, I was shocked, all black a 2 inch think vertical white line was what welcomed me, darn... restarted... all black with audio, restarted again, flickering began, with almost no video, I tried to luck on the reset buttons, after a few tries, I managed to reset the TV, slowly the video got a lot better, was able to turn off other settings that I think would be better turned off, after a minute or two, the video output was ok, I managed to reset the DVD also to its basic setting, upto now, everything is going smoothly, haven't tried the PS3 though, I guess I'll just get the kids another TV for it, this would just be for TV and DVD viewing, thanks God!
And thank for all of your help, I bought a small fan and pointed it towards the vents at the back near the input console...hopefully all goes well... ;D

But I reported it on the 2nd week of December, they didn't reply (SMS hotline), after unplugging the unit and plugging it back, all was good (I thought it was only caused by power fluctuations or something) ... or so I thought... :-\
Called up LG, they want me to fax the receipt, and the approximate date I texted them regarding the problem, hopefully they consider it, I told them, that we only use the TV on Saturdays and Sundays, and that we don't use it much, since we have 2 lcd tvs at home, the kids only use this one (LG) for ps3 and some movies... :'(
I told them also how their "techs" diagnosed the problem, without really diagnosing the TV... and after they checked it, it seemed to get worse... :(
But I think the LG girl really is being considerate... hopefully... Thanks for the tips guys... luckily I saved a jpeg file on my laptop (receipt) to show them, the receipt can be hardly read... :)

too bad, but the best remedy now is to convince LG to service your TV for free since you informed them even before the warranty expired.
the way it looks, other modules or board are suspects and these are expensive to repair unless only leaky or bloated capacitors are involved.

I have the same problem before, try to scan your USB thumb drive or USB HDD, delete all infected files and try it again in your TV. It worked fine for me.

the ld460 can only read certain file types and specification. even mkv and mp4 formats have different versions of audio and video encoding. refer to your manual for more details :)

Hi mga sirs, new member po ako. I just bought this tv sa gadgets in style festival mall for 39,000 last January 5. Ok naman yung tv walang backlight bleed. Last week, I noticed na nagkaroon ng vertical line ng stuck pixels sa gitna pa ng panel. Sabi ko badtrip tong LG mahinang klase. I called LG last Saturday for warranty claim. Last Monday, LG technicians came to my house to inspect the tv. They confirmed na palit panel talaga. They told me that they will order a new panel from LG main. 2-3 days ang ordering time. Early today, the technicians called and told me the panel arrived. They took under an hour to replace the panel. Bago pa yung panel naka box pa and the technician told me na 25,000 yung price nung panel. Anyway, I'm very impressed with the aftersales service of LG. No regrets with my purchase. If I'm going to buy another tv, LG na ang brand.

That feedback is good to hear. These experiences I've seen are one of the reasons I almost have gotten an LG plasma. However, the force is strong on the panasonic here in pdvd. Nevertheless, LG's success here is trully deserved unlike the other korean brand. Eventually that kim jung ill brand is gonna be down, hopefully soon if they don't make their work straight.

sir tanong newbie, mkv is just a container how would i know what is the specific video encoding used in an mkv file. may software po bang gamit dito? Problem ko din kasi yan I already have 4 mkv and 1 mp4 file na nag "invalid file" sa LG460. Un sa audio I just convert it from DTS to DD baka may way din to convert the video encoding only if i know un existing na gamit sa loob ng mkv? Thanks

Try IDC multi changer. Google it. Solved some of my "video not supported" problems.
It takes 2 seconds to convert. After that, most of converted files played. Works 90% most of the time.

if you check the manual, it can only power usb devices up to a certain amount. better get the ones that dont need external power. im using a 320gb WD elements, works fine :)
as for the difference in performance, some might work, some might not. :)

In Fairness to LG,
I called LG up (since I haven't gotten a reply from Vic via PM) earlier.
In less then 10 seconds, I was able to get in touch w/ a TSR.
Took accountability and even called me back when we got disconnected.
They have my record which means I don't have to give my address and cell # again to them.
They also know that I've been an LG customer for quite some time.
They will send a technician to take pictures since they don't have any records of dust getting in the LCD panel.
TSRs I've spoken to were very accommodating and took ownership. Sila pa yung tawag ng tawag to tell me they're sorry for the inconvenience and are working on it, providing me updates as it happens. Parang sila talaga yung may utang ng loob or something unlike my negative experience with Samsung where I've been passed around and people in Samsung doesn't even know that I've surrendered the TV back to them already. The payment was a bit delayed from the committed time line.
Customer service will always make me consider LG in my next purchase. I haven't felt being left in the air. Todo ang after sales.. hindi yung puro branding and marketing lang at bahala ka na sa buhay mo aftersales.
Will update you guys as to what happens next.

To those who have the same issue, I suggest you call their hotline. Based on my experience, I assure you that it will be a painless and pleasant experience talking to any of LG's TSRs.

Im currently using 500GB but Im planning to upgrade it to 2 tera. I dont know which HDD to use, the one with external power adapter or the usb powered one.

LG Technicians promptly visited my place just a few minutes ago.
Not the most impressive service vehicle but who cares as long as they still provide *excellent* customer service and *REAL* AFTER SALES (and not just pure claims/branding/marketing of AFTER SALES service).
Anyway, initially, with the TV off, I showed them that the TV was still in pristine condition. No scratches/smudges, dents, etc. Even the labels at the bottom were intact and the huge box is just right beside my bed.
When the TV was turned on, the dust were barely visible in the bright light of the room. Turned it off and made the dust more apparent. However, I think I have moved/eroded majority of the dust down for it to be less visible than the first time I saw and tried to wipe it.
Although, there was no point in time that my LCD exceeded, matched or even came close to the amount of dust that's posted in the pictures above. At most, it had much much less dust.. starting to accumulate pa lang and I probably have moved most of it away when I wiped it with soft microfiber cloth.
It seems that they have not encountered dust sitting inside the LCD screen. Well, very mildly visible now that I have moved/eroded most of it. I remember the TSR calling me back yesterday to tell me that, aside from 2 LG Phone Models, they do not have records/reports of LCD TV acquiring dust in between the backlight.
They have taken pictures (I'm not sure though if the quality can be used for any purpose) and copied the details of my receipt. They told me if it's alright for them to replace the entire panel but retaining the case/chassis/bezel. I said, ok lang as long as it will be a permanent fix. I don't want you guys to be hassled with the same issue every three months. I wouldn't want this issue to happen when my warranty expires din.
I also showed them an LG 22" LCD which sits almost in front of my 37LD460 and did the pure white test to show them how clear white was in my 4 yr old 22". Like all of the LCDs in our home, it did not acquire any dust.
Now my question to you guys is, since all the other old LCDs in our house including the one in the same room does not exhibit dust accumulation, could replacing the panel (retaining the frame/chassis/bezel) be a permanent fix?

Bought mine late last year before christmas. Nag bleed after 2 weeks and may vertical line sa panel. Returned it na lng and got another brand. My brother has one and it seems to be working fine naman. Malas ko lng siguro. Sayang mura pa naman sana, considering its specs.

the hardest thing sa tech guys ay pinpointing exactly ang cause.
pag na pinpoint ang board, mas madali na pag repair.
on my part, I do servicing for my out of warranty electronic gadgets ----- cheaper and 100% sure ako na walang dagdag na problem at scratches.

Never knew it before. found out there's some issues with my almost 2year old LCD. pero di ko na lang pinapansin.. impt. thing for me is, i just enjoy watching movies and as long as it's not affecting the resolution, colors, pixels etc. Im fine with it.

It affects blacks, and for a good number of pdvd peeps, deep blacks are a huge deal.

I just ggot my new 42 LD460 yesterday from Anson's Trinoma. No backlight bleeding so far. Manufacture date was January 2011. I played "720p Troy.mkv" from my WD Elements external HDD connected to the USB port of the TV. And much to my surprise It finished playing the movie. I think this is the extended version w/ playing time of 3:16:02. Software version(Firmware) is 03.03.24
I must say this is really a bang for the buck 42 inch TV.

I just ggot my new 42 LD460 yesterday from Anson's Trinoma. No backlight bleeding so far. Manufacture date was January 2011. I played "720p Troy.mkv" from my WD Elements external HDD connected to the USB port of the TV. And much to my surprise It finished playing the movie. I think this is the extended version w/ playing time of 3:16:02. Software version(Firmware) is 03.03.24
I must say this is really a bang for the buck 42 inch TV.
How much mo po nabili ito Sir? May HT na bang kasama or TV lang? THank you!

the sales rep from Anson's Ortigas quoted me for only 32.9k deferred 12mos. on this TV. I think they have 2 sealed LD460 left.

Guys meron ba gumagamit ng HP Simple Save 320gb/500gb/1tb/2tb as hard disk sa LCD tv with built in media player? Kamusta ang performance nababasa ba siya, specifically with LG LCD tvs.

Yes Sir, pasok yan sa 1000va na UPS, 42LD460 ay 190 watts max. consumption at yung HT-805PM ay 95 watts lang ata ang power consumption written at the back, naibenta ko HT-805 after 3 nood ng hi definition dvd movie kasi mas gusto ko bass sound ng existing audio set-up ko.

Badtrip nasira na 42ld460 ko. Biglang namamatay or restart, tapos stuck up sa LG welcome screen. Tapos minsan ayaw gumana remote and controls ng tv. Then nagfflicker minsan. Ngayon inoff unplug then on ko, gumana ulit sana wag na muna maulit hanggang dumating technicians sa house.
Ano kaya gagawin nila?

sana maulit para ayusin nila. you wouldn't want to be stuck with a defective unit, don't you? :)

bad idea ba na iunplug and iplug back in every now and then yung unit?i do it kase ayokong naka standby mode e.sorry sa noob na tanong.

I don't think so. I do it everytime. Besides Meralco will advise you to do the same because units on standby consume electricity. So unless you want to maintain the time setting of your unit once you've , I don't see any harm..

Dumating na LG kanina, sakto nagloko at ayaw gumana pagdating niya. Ginawa niya is binuksan niya yung TV, then maya maya binalik na ulit sa dati. Ngayon pag assemble, ayaw na gumana talaga natuluyan nang stuck up sa LG welcome screen / black screen. Sabi niya main board daw sira, oorder pa daw ng parts. Sana nga replacement nalang ng TV mismo eh.

Hi guys, sorry for bringing up this thread. I am planning to buy external speakers that has optical in. My plan is to hook up the speakers via optical cable from tv to the speakers while playing a movie thru USB port/built in media player.
Is this doable? or do i need an external DAC?
