Hello! Just got this unit almost 2 weeks ago and have been very happy with it! I've used a 32" Plasma (LG) and LCD (Tosh) before but I just think this is the best I've had so far! I actually bought a Tosh RV700, it wa a great TV but I really wanted a TV that can play thru USB (so I dont have to buy HD tanks) and that has Trumotion feature. Only negative thing for me is that it cannot play file with DTS audio, I need to convert them to AAC so it plays in the LE5500. Aside from that wala na, hopefully that will be the only thing. Watching films like Inception (Bluray), Kung Fu Panda (DL only) and Avatar (1080p) in this TV has been a delight! :) Share naman your experiences, good or bad.

Was actually surprised that viewers have different opinions pala regarding TruMotion. Talagang iba-iba ang taste ng mga manonood. :)
Silipin mo na lang din yung links na yan.. yan na rin yung mga good/bad experiences na hanap mo. hehe. :)

32LE5500 user here! Swabeng swabe sa gaming kapag naka on yung tru-motion pero kapag nanonood ako ng movie I turn-off the tru-motion pero kapag 3d at animation yung paLabas ON ko uLit yung tru-motion! ;D

so far so good.but planning to upgrade to a 42incher soon.

larger panel naman ang nakukulangan ako.kung nakapag antay pa sana ako sa price drop..
only regret i have on this baby is the size.

what do you mean LG logo? the one on the TV screen or on the panel itself? Mine actually has a defect ata, the LG logo does not appear whether you turn on or off the unit. Found this out kasi I saw a demo unit sa mall, nagulat ako all the while i thought walang logo. dilemna ko is should i have LG fix it or return sa SnS? Wala naman ibang prob sa TV.

May nabasa ako dito sa site na kapag in game daw the trumotion is automaticaLLy "OFF"! WeLL hindi ako naniniwaLa dun! Im pLaying FinaL Fantasy XIII! Syempre curious ako kaya pinanood ko yung opening movie ng naka-off yung trumotion and pinanood ko uLit this time naka-on naman at ayun nakita ko yung difference in the animation! Nag email na rin ako sa isang seller dito sabi niya ayun daw talaga issue ng mga LED TV pagdating sa TV tuning.. Sabi very sensitive daw siya not like LCD TV's... Di ko rin matanggap na ganun dahil di naman ganun yung ibang LED TV's. Paranaque cable ang provider namin... Ikaw ser don who's your cable provider? sabi sa SnS sa cable provider daw ang problem... Haaay!!

I have not experienced this problem sir, I initially bought the rv700 Tosh but sent it back because of the same concerns. Napa upgrade tuloy ako pero ok naman hehe. Probably best to swap the unit.

Yes, it has a LAN port. Kaso you can only browse weather reports and youtube. Pero it's good to watch HQ videos from youtube in this TV.

Have not tweeked the setting masayado sir, mejo busy e. I have the tru motion set on high during PS3 gaming. I only turn that off or set to low if I am watching old movies, parang di bagay kasi.

I have no problems with regards to TV viewing, no flickers yet pero im crossing my fingers hehe. I have Destiny cable and I live in Sta Mesa area. TV viewing of course is not as clear compared to CRT TV but its typical wide screen analog TV viewing.

i tried playing 2k11 uli kagabi, oks na po pala, naka off ung trumotion pag game settings and di ko na napancn ung parang may lag na part, and binabaan ko n lng ung led brightness and contrast, masyado maliwanag kasi para saken hehe hindi kasi ko nag bubukas ng ilaw sa kwarto ;)

Sa tingin ko sa cable provider na issue kasi yung sakin replacement na ganun parin nagtry ako same cablelink sa bahay ng bro ko ganun pa rin... Pareho kayo ni joko11 skycable walang issue pero kami ni van same cablelink may flicker... Rules out it's the cable provider...

Hi le5500 owners! How's the backlighting on the le550 series? I'm contemplating on getting a 2nd tv, and this is one of my top 3 choices.
However, am researching on reviews, mukang same ang sinasabi ng mga review sites, poor backlighting daw. any input from the actual users? TIA! :)

Hello. New LE5500 owner here. Just picked up the 47" this weekend. Super happy with the purchase. heh heh. It was a birthday gift for myself. :P
As soon as I got home, I updated the firmware via USB and plan to get the WiFi accessory soon. :)
Prices for this line has dropped drastically in the past two weeks. I wonder if LG will come out with a model that addresses the blooming issue cnet was talking about when it comes to the local dimming feature of this model. Quick question guys, what energy saving mode do you use and do you keep the local dimming mode feature on? I notice kasi that the screen is a little too dark when is maximize energy saving and keep local dimming on.

It isn't bad at all. No more than what you would get with other LCD panels or even plasma for that matter. I will say this though. Local dimming turns off when there is no signal. Hence, in that video you posted, the TV has all the LED turned on at full power. It might also be his camera as i did not get the same effect when I tried to take a photo with my phone.

(shot with a point & shoot camera with ISO set to high, no flash. trying to keep my hand as steady as possible. heh heh.)
from the thumbnails alone... you can see that keeping the dimming set to on show's more detail. when it's off her skintone seems more washed out... less details. but from the background you can see that the blacks still register the same. it's not a dramatic difference really.
also, i noticed that the severity of the "bleeding" of the backlight really depends on which angle you watch it. the more you watch in an angle... the more you see it. personally, it didn't bother me as much since i usually watch straight on. plus, i have read that bleeding seems to be a problem in all, if not most, backlit screens. i see it even in plasma. and the one here isn't too severe, i think.
BTW, have you guys updated your firmware yet? the latest US release is V08.02.16 ... it added a few more streaming services like VuDu and MLBtv. not quite sure what else it did though.

with that image,IMO i can see a big difference with the local dimming set to on.
i didnt know that this feature is available on lE55 with 42" panel.
try to capture images on dark sceen with a little bit of light on background to see more clearly how the local dimming works.

I only used the picture wizard built onto the tv itself. But I reset the settings before i took the photos. So this is with standard mode. :)

Medyo nagulat ako sa price ng LG, 25k for full cash. 26,700 for 6 months to pay, and 28,500 for 12 months to pay. May masmumura pa ba dito? Gulat lang ako since I'm thinking that Anson's is normally masmahal. By the way, they listed it at 32k and I just inquired about the discount. Whatcha think? Planning to get one over the weekend.

I think LG is clearing stocks to make room for the coming new models. Newegg just hacked $900 off the price of the 47-inch model. The retails stores are slowly doing the same. :)

I think color, brightness and contrast are really up to your own preferences. Try using the picture wizard. It will save your preferences in the ISF Expert modes. Tapos run the wizard in both bright and dim settings para may Day mode and Night mode ka based on your preference. :)

there are lots of picture settings you can find at the internet.i use expert mode base on cnet.but sometimes i found it more pleasing in the eye the factory setting or default of the unit itself.

check this out, settings for a 55le5500, but it should be almost the same for the smaller 32 and 47 versions - http://reviews.lcdtvbuyingguide.com/lcdtvreviews/lg-47le8500-calibration.html
may or may not work for you but it wouldn't harm to try the settings. i believe that all tvs still need to be calibrated to each unique environment, what would probably work for my setting (as an example), probably wouldn't work for another person's viewing environment and vice versa. no harm in trying it out though, let us know how it works out for you :)

what do you want to find out with dongle. Im using the LG dongle @900peso add on. Its good on youtube, parang lahat ng video i watch malilinaw you cant change the settings ng youtube unlike sa PC you have reso selection.
how to check the firmware ng Le5500? and may update na ba or anyone has updated their fw already?.

I updated mine as soon as I brought it home last Feb 20. And it updated. So I guess the units out there don't have the latest one installed. The way to do it is easy. All you need is a USB flash drive and the latest firmware. the TV itself will check if the firmware on your drive is more new.
An easier way would be to do it via the LAN port. I think it check by itself via the Internet connection. :)

LG's wifi feature requires the proprietary LG wifi dongle. It wont work with dongles sold at CDRKing.

may extra dongle ka? why not try it wont make any harm on your LG.
yup you can stream files from your pc as long as the files are supported, this is DLNA,
it's simple as sharing a file from your PC and you can browse na yung mga files from your TV and play it.

@van. I posted the software version I got from the US LG website a couple of posts ago. It is V08.02.16. It added some more items to the netcast (i.e VuDu and MLBtv). I will check when I get home the exact version. I dont think it shows eh. The manual does not recommend updating software via wi-fi and my router is too far from where the TV is located. Not really keen on moving a 47" just to update the software. :P

I already have my place set up for DLNA over the WiFi. Currently my PS3, LG BD570 and computers are all hooked up to it. I got a 1.5tb NAS attached that streams all the files to these devices. And soon, I hope my TV will do the same. :)

LG's wifi feature requires the proprietary LG wifi dongle. It wont work with dongles sold at CDRKing.
You'd be surprised. If the dongle (CD-R King or otherwise) has the same chipset as the "proprietary LG wifi dongle" the tv will recognize it.
LG doesn't manufacture wifi cards so it is highly possible that they just rebadge OEM stocks, which share the same chipsets as many USB dongles available commercially.

I have already posted mine twice. Heh heh. In case you don't have a hardwire Internet hooked up to the TV, check the LG website. They have the latest one posted and ready for download with instructions on how to upgrade yours via USB. Hope that helps. :)

Finally got my USB dongle. I have to say I am a little bit disappointed. It felt and looked ... Inexpensive. Certainly not close to the $80 it retails for online. Glad I got it for half that price. Also, when I hooked it up, it didn't fit the USB tightly. So it kind of slumped down. I had to attach some double sided tape to keep it straight.
However I think it works OK. Tried to stream from it and mukhang OK naman. Will try bigger files naman next time. (had to run out of the apartment kasi.)
Will post more findings later. :)

There is a "hacked" firmware update for US models LD550, LD650, LE5400, LE5500, LE7500 and LE8500that I read about on one forum, but the author did leave a *screaming* caveat on his post:
This firmware for US broadband TV only.

IT CAN BRICK YOUR TV !!!

firmware upgrade on any electronic device when interupt might brick the unit.so be very extra carefull in doin such thing.first ask yourself.do you realy need to upgrade or just want to follow the trend.IMHO!

syempre medyo over emphasized yun na sa video. OA naman yun comparison. LOL.
BTW... the dongle was useful for the internet streaming (i use netflix and it streams in HD. tried it on CinemaNow too with the trailer for Megamind... it was amazing. almost blu ray ang quality)... one bad effect though... i think the dongle interferes with the digital TV transmissions... i experienced "blips" in the TV broadcasts when i know it accesses the net. but other than that... it streams perfect.
i have tried playing 720p MKV files and there is a little lag at the start but once it caches enough from my DLNA device, it plays fine until the end. i notice that it actually starts playback immediately instead of caching data first... which may explain the initial lag.
i solved the "slumping dongle issue" by attaching a small amount of mounting tape to the end of the dongle... so far so good.
as for the difference between LE5400 and LE5500... i believe it's all just the contrast ratio. the 5400 has 4M:1... while the 5500 is 5M:1.

medyo ho na misinterpret nyo ang video sa youtube. hehehe
both TVs are identical except that the one on the right was wired in the factory without the actual video signal shown on the screen.
yong left TV shows the complete video signal, while yong sa right TV naman pinakikita nya kung papaano gumana ang local dimming LEDs in response to a video signal.
pansinin nyo ho na kung saan ang may fireworks, doon naman iilaw ang LEDs.

Saw a 32LE5500 at Savers along Roosevelt Ave, QC.
29k with wifi dongle and wall bracket. I asked kung puwede ba w/o the dongle and bracket hindi daw kasi standard issue daw yon for this tv.
They were also selling the 37LD460 for 31k with an HTIB. Hindi rin daw puwede w/o the HTIB.
It looks like Anson's still has the lowest prices. (25k cash, P28,500 12 mos 0%).

Anyways, out of curiosity, I connected the usb dongle to my linux box and this is what I got:

The dongle is definitely proprietary. I suggest LE5500 owners to buy it anyway since an update may contain more apps/features for the tv.

I read somewhere that this model was skype-ready and that all you had to do was buy a kit for it. Not sure how or why. Baka they decided to take out that feature.

From what I've found on Youtube, the Skype feature will require a separate, peipheral camera that supposedly can pick up voice signals from as far as the back of the room (translation: you don't have to sit right in front of the TV screeen). It's been 4 months since I bought my LE7500, and so far, there's still no Skype widget on my set, and no LG camera peripheral retailing in the market. Sigh.

03.05.03 yung version ng firmware. Hindi ko pa nakakabit sa LAN kasi medyo malayo yung router ko. May nakapagtry na ba sa inyo magupdate? Wala naman kasing download firmware dun sa website ng LG Philippines. Ayaw ko iinstall yung US firmware baka hindi na bumukas tong TV.

this is my first post here in pinoydvd, been a lurker for quite some time. i've learned a lot here in this forum and i would like to thank you all for the information you shared here in pinoydvd.
i was able to buy yesterday after a week long decision making between LG 42LD460 or 32LE5500. personally, there's a big difference in picture quality between the two. so i decided to get the 32LE5500.
went to anson's trinoma to check again both tv's just to be sure. asked the sales rep how much and gave me a discounted price of 28,500. so after couple of minutes of thinking, i asked again if the price he quoted me is the best price he can offer. he told me that if i'm going to buy one at that moment, he could give it to me for 25,000. so i said yes, told him to get one and test it before i proceed to the cashier. a freebie LG wall backet is also included. also asked for the bundle HT805, he said it's 10,000 additional. told him that i'll pass. manufacture date is february 2011.
got a taxi and went home to set up the TV. setting it up was easy, i didn't opt for the LG USB dongle for 999, just connected an ethernet cable from my router to the back of the TV. got myself some movies in my flashdrive.
you will notice immediately the difference between store set up and home set up. still a great purchase for me. i have a rainbow 2.1 speakers from my PC and hooked it up via the headphones and it sounded great.
also tried using the TV with my destiny cable. a bit disappointed since some channels got a bit fuzzy. so i bought a signal amplifier from ace hardware and called destiny to check the signal/reception. the lineman has this portable tool to check the signal.
when using the 300 pesos signal amplifier, there is a small difference in signal quality. but just a bit, probably around 15% increase. if you're planning to buy one of these, don't expect a significant change in reception quality. the lineman told me that in our area, has some reception issues with other channels like discovery turbo, history and nhk world. the lineman also checked some of my neighbors cable and TV and had the same problem. so i guess there's nothing wrong with my line from outside of my house to the TV itself. its up to you if you want to shell out 300 for a signal amplifier or not. if the signal in your area is clear then there's no need for it. it will only degrade the signal if you hook it up.
overall, i very satisfied with my purchase and very thankful because all the information that i got here in pinoydvd helped me in deciding which TV should i buy. from now on, you can consider me a loyal forumer here in pinoydvd..thanks!
now my problem is what player should i choose...hd media player or 1080p DVD player....ggrrrr!!!

sir, no need for any firmware updates para sa LE5500 using destiny cable. talagang may mga channels na nag fi flicker. may pumunta na nga dito sa amin na technician at wala daw problema sa home connection or sa TV. sa mismong reception nila sa area namin ang cause, confirmed din sa ibang kapitbahay na may destiny cable. gamit ko ngayon yung P300 signal amplifier from ace hardware, kahit paano nakatulong ng konti (konti lang, hindi miracle...hehehe!). yung ibang channel na nag fi filcker nabawasan.

Bakit kaya ganon? Sa ibang TV namin sobrang linaw naman ng reception pero pagdating dito sa LE5500 andumi ng signal, yung iba fuzzy, yung iba naman nagfflicker yung ibabaw. Hindi ko alam kung pwedeng kabitan to ng signal amplifier kasi naka Cable Internet din ako sa Destiny, pero ttry ko na din. Salamats :D

Guys makikisali na ako! Hehe! But unlike most of you, mejo hindi pa maganda ang experience ko with my purchase. :P
I bought mine last weekend sa Anson's at P24,900 cash!! I had to set it up with my dad at home and first problem that we encountered is the screwing of the base. Ang hirap itodo ng mga screws sa tv so it took us a lot (LOT) of time doing it.
Anyway, after the set-up, time to test it! The TV is SUPER AWESOME especially with the TruMotion feature! BUT, when I hooked up my PS3 and turned it on, it started flickering right away. I turned the PS3 off and I saw red horizontal lines (scary!!). I changed the HDMI ports and turned the PS3 on again and it worked fine! But in the middle of playing 2k11, it started flickering again and the red lights appeared after turning the console off. I then moved it to the next HDMI port and the PS3 system was all good to go na (Phew!!).
THEN, I started to watch a movie via the USB port and in the middle of watching, the screen changed to all vertical lines of the film's colors! Initially, I thought it was the copy of my movie so I tried rewinding it. But no, the screen still showed the vert lines. Audio was fine so it was just the video! I turned it off, unplugged everything and then turned it back on... ayun, the screen just showed vertical lines but the audio is the same. Wala pang one day old nasira na! :-[
LG dropped by and apparently, may sira daw yung LCD of the TV. I was hoping they'd replace the actual unit but I think the part lang na sira ang papalitan. BITIN tuloy ako!!!
I hope future buyers wont experience this! I just wanted to share for those who are thinking of buying this unit. Don't get me wrong, 32LE5500 is AWESOME!!!! It was just unfortunate na deffectiveyung unit ko. :P
Kudos to Anson's and LG for the very good customer service though! Bilis sila gumalaw!

Guys makikisali na ako! Hehe! But unlike most of you, mejo hindi pa maganda ang experience ko with my purchase. :P
I bought mine last weekend sa Anson's at P24,900 cash!! I had to set it up with my dad at home and first problem that we encountered is the screwing of the base. Ang hirap itodo ng mga screws sa tv so it took us a lot (LOT) of time doing it.
Anyway, after the set-up, time to test it! The TV is SUPER AWESOME especially with the TruMotion feature! BUT, when I hooked up my PS3 and turned it on, it started flickering right away. I turned the PS3 off and I saw red horizontal lines (scary!!). I changed the HDMI ports and turned the PS3 on again and it worked fine! But in the middle of playing 2k11, it started flickering again and the red lights appeared after turning the console off. I then moved it to the next HDMI port and the PS3 system was all good to go na (Phew!!).
THEN, I started to watch a movie via the USB port and in the middle of watching, the screen changed to all vertical lines of the film's colors! Initially, I thought it was the copy of my movie so I tried rewinding it. But no, the screen still showed the vert lines. Audio was fine so it was just the video! I turned it off, unplugged everything and then turned it back on... ayun, the screen just showed vertical lines but the audio is the same. Wala pang one day old nasira na! :-[
LG dropped by and apparently, may sira daw yung LCD of the TV. I was hoping they'd replace the actual unit but I think the part lang na sira ang papalitan. BITIN tuloy ako!!!
I hope future buyers wont experience this! I just wanted to share for those who are thinking of buying this unit. Don't get me wrong, 32LE5500 is AWESOME!!!! It was just unfortunate na deffectiveyung unit ko. :P
Kudos to Anson's and LG for the very good customer service though! Bilis sila gumalaw!

depends on your preference and room condition. it has a built-in calibration wizard, use it :)

::) Good luck guys with your LG- 32LE5500 purchase . For me its quite a NIGHTMARE purchase . I got mine in Anson Makati last Dec 8 , 2010 and it broke down on Dec 30 ,2010 ( no picture just sound ). After reporting it to LG service center on Dec 30 the technician took it apart three times and replaced some parts with new ones including a new lcd panel ( hula possible defect system) and finally I got a brand new replacement unit on Jan 15 ,2011 ( Suko na yung technician VERDICT = POSSIBLE DEFECT LCD MODULE ) ....but as they say bad luck strikes twice wala naman ako balat sa pwet ...again my 2nd REPLACEMENT unit gave up on me last March 06, 2011 . Same symptoms no picture all sound ( dammit !! ) So again I called LG and again the same technician came and this time the VERDICT = MAIN BOARD ).Whaaaaaaaaaa ...moral of the story LG = LIFE IS NO GOOD , I have to wait for March 25 for this part to arrive ....sometimes old skool TV like my trusty CRT SONY ( alive & kicking since 2001 ) is my back up home entertainment plan.
By the way this unit is super pampered ( new power voltage regulator since day 1 , SKY -CABLE , LCD wiped once a week using special aftermarket cloth for LCD and even my remote is covered with plastic hehehehe )
Overall the picture quality of this unit was good but was ruined by its reliability ( lemon factor ) do some technical research & reviews first on this LE5500 SERIES ( huwag masyado excited when buying LED tv...I learned this the hard way ).. I hope some LG QUALITY CONTROL or DESIGN big wig is reading this thread

I must say though, that I was surprised they just didn't replace the unit since it had broken down twice already.
Just a note, guys. I read on the LG US website that all sizes, except for the 55", have already been discontinued. A new model takes the LE5500's place in LG's lineup: LV5500. Specwise, they seem identical except this has SmartTV and has dynamic contrast ratio of 10M:1 vs the 5M:1 that the LE5500 has. :)

:) Salamat sir , I'm just surprised why the LE5500 series was phased out so quickly in the US ...hehehehe right now my antique 32-LE5500 is a Php 35k ( retail price in Dec 2010 ) paper weight hanging on my wall ...BAD TRIP ::)

Sayang naman. Have they determined that it is really a bad unit and not caused by other factors like perhaps Meralco's wonderful power surges? Heh heh.
I don't think they retired this line because of a design flaw. Because the LE5400s are still being produced. I think they just wanted one that was more of an upgrade from the LE5400 to merit the price difference between the two. Because as far as I know, the only difference between the LE5400 and LE5500 was the contrast ratio and local dimming. With the LV5500, they added the SmartTV feature and DOUBLED the DCR to 10M:1. :)

just bought one kanina. sana it would prove to be a good buy. so far so good. pansin ko lang brittle yung screws. madaling mashave off yung top ng screws parang kinakain ng screwdriver. is this the same with you guys? natatakot ako tuloy na higpitan baka di na matanggal yung mount. will check later for bleeding backlight...

Hi LE5500 users. I was browsing a while ago and noticed the price drop on this great LED TV. Seeing the new price @25k cash made me jump out of my seat (literally)! Now before rushing to the nearest anson store, just want to ask, do LE5500 use IPS panels?

Now on to the htib, do you think the 905 is good enough? from what I saw on the net it has an optical in, can decode dts, hdmi, and 1080p upscaler, I have a few more days to decide. Will cost me around 13k from Ansons. Is this htib good enough for ps3 / movie viewing thru usb / dvd viewing?
Also I'm a bit confused with the optical out / optical in. Does it mean that I simply connect the optical out of the tv to the optical in of the 905, then the sound from the ps3 will come out of the 905. Does the same thing happen when I view the movie via usb connected directly to the 5500?

New 42" User here. Just bought mine yesterday at SNS w/ free wall bracket and wifi dongle. PS3 gaming looks awesome! What really surprised me is that cable viewing was really great as well. Madami na nagpost saying the difference from CRT to LED/LCD is really drastic pero i found some of the channels to be at par if not better. Of course may mga channel na nadegrade ung quality but overall, i'm very happy with my purchase. Would need to burn it out next with PC use. :)

Since the le5500 has optical out, can I simply connect the ps3 via hdmi to the le5500, then connect the optical out of the le5500 to the ht905ta and still get 5.1 sound from the ps3?
So if I play mkv content via usb which has 5.1 audio, I should get 5.1 sound from the ht905ta right?

I'm not sure about ht905ta but technically it should work... I directly connect my 1TB WD elements to my LG LD460 via USB. and then TV to my yamaha receiver via optical.
TV plays all my dolby digital mkv files and outputs dolby 5.1 sound to the receiver.

Meron naba naka try sa inyo gamitin yung headphone input sa gilid ng TV para sa mga 2.1 speakers like Altec Lansing ATP3? Kasi diba 3.5 jack din mostly ang wire na gamit ng mga 2.1 speakers?
Paano din pala malalaman kung ilang hours na nagamit yung TV since the first day mo nagamit. Para kasi meron nagturo nun sa LD460 users hindi ko lang matandaan..

i'm using my desktop pc's rainbow speaker 2.1, ok naman, set the speaker volume, then gamit ko na lang yung volume control ng tv. but i'm still trying to figure out other ways to connect it. hay...

Yes I tried that also! I even bought a new HDMI cable Monoprice but it still flickers if 1080p is turned on. :( Darn! I'm tempted to buy another cable! Hehe!

sa service mode lang makikita yung used hours, ganyan yung mga series ng LED ng LG unlike sa series nila ng LD460 na pwede... menu then red button for customer support, andun yung used time ng unit...

Diba dapat fat32 yung filesystem nung harddisk na lalagyan ng movies? Files are limited to 3.2gb when transferred to a fat32 disk. Maybe you can try a software to split the movie file itself into two.

LOL. First time I have ever encountered someone saying a TV is too big. Usually it's the other way around. :P I bought the same size and I live in a small place too. So I kind of know how you feel. But definitely glad to meet another happy owner of the 47". :)
As for files. I think the built in media player is quite buggy. Sometimes a file will say Invalid. But try it again and it will play. I have files streaming via a DLNA network and some files will show stutter too. But when it works, oh wow... The PQ of the files are better than when streamed off my PS3. :)

have this tv for some time now, great TV! never had any problems mentioned here. even with PS3 connected via hdmi, or my other equipment as well, no flickering, smooth sailing, and lively colors! ;D

guys hindi ba mashoshorten life span ng LE5500 ko pag naka high dynamic contrast at trumotion? natatakot kasi ako taasan mga settings baka umikli life span. ang alam ko lang kasi na masama taasan ay yung brightness dahil yung "torching" daw. meron pa ba akong ibang settings na kailangan pag ingatan? thanks guys!

I recently tried Iron Man 2 from a USB and its reads and plays well, but it just freezes at 80% of the film, same file plays well in my eGreat. Have you guys tried playing back huge mkv files 5GB or more?
i played one(1) 25gb file size mkv directly to usb and no problem encounterd till end credit

LG doesn't advise updates via WiFi. They recommend a hardwire LAN connection. Or to do it by USB flash drive.
Not sure about the Asian Firmware, but the US one has Netflix, VuDu, CinemaNow, MLBtv, Picasa, YouTube and AccuWeather. I am still hoping they would add DivXTV, Pandora (or Slacker) and Napster. Just like their BluRay players. :)

I would imagine so... Although, I am pretty sure the apps won't work. I tried to see if a Netflix account would work with a local philippine IP, it wouldn't. :( ... These services check of you are using a US IP first.

anyway, is there anybody with the local le5500 (philippine/asian version) that has already updated their fw? i'm hesitant to upgrade it since I can't see the firmware available for download at the LG Phils. website, only on the US version.

If playing a HiDef MKV or AVI file, just make sure the audio is not DTS. The TV cannot decode that codec. AC3 works fine though. Also, the player is a little buggy with xvid and divx. I'm guessing that is why the TV isn't divx certified. It becomes jittery. However it still plays mostly OK.
Also, notice that the unit doesn't run as hot a a traditional LCD screen. That should help the room stay cooler. LOL.

Mine is on User. For movies, Judder = 10, Blur = 0. I find that having Blur increased also increases the artifacts. For regular TV viewing, both are off. Try to experiment with the settings and see what works for you. YMMV :)

I use Standard but tweaked it a bit according to my eye preference. I suggest you play around with the setting as well! Actually the Game mode is also nice with a little bit more brightness but that mode automatically turns off the TruMotion feature. :)
By the way, I already solved my 32LE5500's 1080p flickering problem! Just bought a new cable from Datablitz for P195 (can't remember the brand right now). It's version 1.4 and there's no flickering na! ;D

Try changing the picture profile to something else. I sometimes watch using USB and my trumotion is off.
Btw, if you have a receiver or home theater system, see if the TV can passthru the audio to it via optical cable.

Yup. I got my 47" LE5500 at Frys. It was only $799 plus tax. I considered the 55" tho. But the local dimming, extra 1m in the DCR and lower price won out. Heh heh. I stayed away from plasma and conventional LCDs only because I thought it was better to save some money by cutting my power bill. I am already feeling it. Our power bill went down by $10 this month. :) maybe someday makakabili din ako ng 55 or 65-incher. :)

yan ata yun may PLEX imbes na NETCAST pangtapat daw sa apple at google tv. available na to sa US at may teaser na sa LG PH website na coming soon. parang ok din yun magic wand remote para cyang wii remote at gesture based controls.
tanong ko lang 3 lang ba talaga apps ng netcast sa PH? wala man lang yahoo widgets?
sa LG UK un le5500 equivalent nila which is le5900 e ang dami laman ng netcast apps nila may google maps pa nga sa recent update nila.
region specific ata yun gumagawa or nagaad ng apps sa firmware based sa nabasa ko sa forums nila so dapat ata request tayo sa LG PH na dagdagan apps natin.

Dude, I bought my 32LE5500 from there just two weeks ago for P28,500, payable over 12 months. Just show them a screenshot of mico333's post on the cheaper installment prices from Ansons @Home (in front of the Podium; P26,500 for 6 months, P28,500 for 12 months), and they'll give it to you.

I'm currently using a measy nmt. and on the video settings i tried to use 1080i/60 with no white dots at all. but when I changed the settings to 1080p/50 I have white dots all over.
I'm new with these stuff and I want to learn more, I would really appreciate anyone who can explain this. Thanks!

Our 32LE5500 is FULL HD (1080p). Check the box! Hehe! Try changing your cable! That might be the problem when changing it to 1080p. :)

Our 32LE5500 is FULL HD (1080p). Check the box! Hehe! Try changing your cable! That might be the problem when changing it to 1080p. :)
i really did sir, but i couldn't play 1080p on my nmt, only 1080i/60 on my measy nmt. still, i will try to borrow other hdmi cable just to be sure but it will take quite a while to do it.

just a little tip fellow le5500 owners, before stating that the tv has grayish blacks, blooming etc, try to calibrate your unit muna. minsan we might be forgetting that the set we have has the demo mode on, which has ridiculous brightness, color tones/hues, etc. to look good in the harsh and very bright lights of a showroom.
if walang calibration disk, use the the built-in calibration guide of the tv, or even a disney/pixar movie has a built in-calibration mode. those aren't the best ways to calibrate your tv, but at least it's better than not doing any calibration at all :)

Nag email na rin ako sa isang seller dito sabi niya ayun daw talaga issue ng mga LED TV pagdating sa TV tuning.. Sabi very sensitive daw siya not like LCD TV's... Di ko rin matanggap na ganun dahil di naman ganun yung ibang LED TV's. Paranaque cable ang provider namin... Ikaw ser don who's your cable provider? sabi sa SnS sa cable provider daw ang problem... Haaay!!

that actually doesn't make sense... the type of backlight shouldn't determine whether the tv will flicker or not...

i really did sir, but i couldn't play 1080p on my nmt, only 1080i/60 on my measy nmt. still, i will try to borrow other hdmi cable just to be sure but it will take quite a while to do it.

Try using HDMI v1.4. Datablitz has cheap ones there! Not sure if it has something to do with it but it took away my 1080p problem with my PS3. Just a simple suggestion! :)

I've already read about that on other A/V forums, and here's the long and short of it: NO, DON'T DO IT, especially if your LE5500 is a non-US unit. You run the risk of bricking your TV.

what i did was really simple i told the manager to line up 5 led lcd tv sa harap of the same category ng lg le5500 it came out that lg is at par with almost all of the other 4 other led lcd but the biggest difference is the bang for the buck. i also love the maroon border thingy of the lg le5500 thats why i pick the led tv and the true motion feature and vivid colors. basically its the preference of the buyers eye and their budget those were the guide i used when i purchased my le5500

well depende sa tv. you are at an LG thread, so ang sagot para sa LG, gumagana.
check your manual, dapat nakalagay po dyan. sa LG yes nakaindicate specs ng readable devices via usb port :)

The red border is actually just a tint that you see on the edge of the bezel at certain angles; it's not really that outwardly visible at first glance. I myself failed to notice it when we first installed my 47LE7500; I only saw it the following morning.

Talagang ganun ang cinema mode kasi warm ang temperature setting nun pwede din baguhin yung default cinema mode nun magiging cinema(user).. ;)

Ganyan nga minsan ang MKV files lalo na pag streaming thru network kahit compatible naman... try mo sa USB connection kung ganun parin siguro related na sa firmware yung issue kahit compatible yung file not like AVI lahat na pplay kahit fullHD siya no issues.. Basta make sure na dolby digital yung sound niya at yun lang kundi.. di talaga siya magpplay or no audio but video lang output.. :)

Given most brand manufacturers' price positioning of their new flatscreen models at launch - i.e. priced nearly the same as the downmarked going price of the previous generation - there's actually a good likelihood of that happening ;D
And yet I still grabbed me a 32LE500 for my room recently. Ugh, am I going to hate myself when I finally see the LV500 inside a showroom :'( :'( :'(

According to another PDVDer, fathervince, "32LE5300 has poor/bad viewing angle... coz it uses VA panel". This means that images get washed out as you move towards the side of the screen. The LE5500, on the other hand, uses an IPS panel, which gives the screen a 178 degree viewing angle.
Taga ang presyo d'yan sa SM. I suggest that you shop instead at any Ansons outlet. You could get the 32LE5500, which is LG's most high-end 32" LED available locally from its 2010 models, for only around P25K cash.

One other difference is the LE5500 has a limited internet connectivity feature and higher dynamic aspect ratio so it's a bit sharper than 5300. it has 3 apps, youtube, picasa and weather, which for me are useless.
If you want my personal opinion I would rather save me some cash and get the LD460. The only really advantage of the LE5500 are, it looks better (physically) and lesser power consumption but only by a bit. If you can live without those things then LD460 is a wiser buy otherwise get the LE5500 it's as good as the more expensive Samsung Series5 LED imo.

hi guys.. i just bought a 32le5500 yesterday. i'm choosing between this and the samsung 37d500 w/c is around 11k+ more but i ended up getting the Lg 32'' kasi most of the people i talked to na ok na daw ang 32'' coming from a 25'' & 29'' conventional TV... ayun bitin! maliit lang ang area ko w/c is just right for a 32'' daw at malaki daw ang 32'' pag nasa bahay na kasi wala ng katabing malalaking lcds pero bitin talaga ako kaya di ako happy sa nabili ko na size.
one more thing ay problema ko pa yun dts nya akala ko ok na ako na walang dts output but like last night i was watching a documentary dts mkv file thru usb e sayang kuryente sa AVR dahil puro daldalan lang and there are times na ayaw ko gumamit ng AVR, is there a way i could use just a simple pc speakers?
i also hooked up my dvd player. the only option of the player's connection aside from the typical yellow, white & red cable is the composite cable. i tried connecting it at the composite slot at the back and the composite 3 on the side using the included 'composite to mini plug adaptor' w/c is for the led lcd according to the manual pero yun picture color nya ay red. i tried different cables but it's still the same. what seems to be the problem?

the yellow,red and white connectors are your rca or also known as Composite connectors. The RGB RW are you called component connectors. You also have HDMI and D-sub on it. If you are connecting a DVD player it's a straightforward connection of composite and don't bother with the component not unless your player can upscale and has component connectors.

unfortunately the input lag is not good. I didnt notice it when I played assassin creed 2 and dante's inferno but when i played medal of honor and resistance 2 i found aiming difficult.btw im already in game mode. I tried setting the sensitivity higher but still was not as tight and responsive as i want it to be. :(

I've been hearing about this input lag on the LE series, but seriously, I don't seem to have it on my 32" LE5500 in the upstairs bedroom, or on the 47" LE7500 (LE5500 + extra glass panel, basically) in the living room den. And we have all three consoles (PS3, X360 and wii) at home.
Either that, or I wouldn't know an input lag if it sprang out of the toilet and bit me in the ass :P

if the cables are not defective maybe there is a setting you need to check on the DVD player. I ran into that problem some time ago with my DVD player with my old samsung lcd tv. I found out that there was a setting that I need to set on my dvd, i forgot what it was though.

my ht805 has a setting where you can enable DTS decoding so it can output the audio from the TV via optical cable. I haven't tried this though cause all of my movie files audio are supported by the TV so far.

Takot ako sa mga nabasa ko na backlight bleeding pero i think the other great features compensate for it really well and value for money talaga. Medyo mataas na kasi yun price diff if the 42" kukunin ko which should have less reported backlight bleeding daw?
Since palabas na rin yun LV series, isa pa yun pang pagulo sa decision ko. I'm not sure if the LG LE series would still go lower or not. Parang sulit na at 26k kasi for an LED based (not full LED) LCD TV. I was previously considering din the Samsung D series since same price lang din pero LCD lang nga siya. Maraming nagsasabi na masama daw yun LED sa mga bata or too bright pero i think it can be adjusted naman sa settings.
Ayos na kaya yun DTS decoder sa LV series? DTS kasi proprietary kaya siguro mahirap makuha ng mga LCD companies yun with their current price point.

Just had my unit setup kanina! Wee! After 1 month of hunting online 24/7.
Notice some minor backlight bleeding pero not noticeable sa untrained eye. Still testing some settings to see if this can be resolved.
Survey to the 42LE5500 users out there:
1. What is your "Pang-Bato" Video / Brightness / Picture settings ?
( Yung tipong pag isshowcase mo yung TV mo pag may bisita or pag manonood ka ng malulupet na awaited titles such as Avatar, Transformers, Inception, Pirates of the carribean )
2. What top 3 Hard Drive Media Players do you recommend for our unit?
( Yung bang-for-buck sa features, not priced low-end nor priced high-end..mid-price-ranged lang pero mabangis sa features at stability. )

even back in the days of the crt tv, pinagbabawal na manood nang malapit/matagal sa TV ang bata :)
as you've probably read already, EXCESSIVE backlight bleeding is a defect. if don't see it, don't look for it.
i think current built-in media players of lcd/led TVs will be the perfect. there's just too many ways to digitally encode audio/video. the best solution still is an update-able media player, such as the asus oplay. or better yet, connect the tv to a laptop/pc.
my guess is that the 32LV5500 would cost somewhere near the previous "stable" price of the 32LE5500, which is around 32k.
i really don't fancy the additional smart tv features, and internet TV browsing is a horror without a keyboard-mouse. so i'd go for the older, cheaper LE5500. it's the full HD that really matters.

What the bigger (i.e. 42" and up) models of LG's LE series of LEDs *do* have as an issue is "backlight blooming" or "stray illumination", described by cnet.com as follows:
We also noticed significant blooming and stray illumination in dark areas, effects we attribute to the LE5500's imprecise dimming as the backlight fluctuated in brightness. The worst examples came in all-black scenes with one or two bright elements, such as the credits or our Blu-ray player's onscreen icons. Certain dark areas of the screen would appear markedly brighter than others; the black above and below the credits, for example, would be lighter than to either side. Less-noticeable but still distracting was the stray illumination in normal scenes, especially in the letterbox bars.

Yup! Just rename the SRT files to the exact name of the movie file. So kung "Movie.mkv", rename SRT to "Movie.srt". :)

I'll say it again for prospective buyers of this tv, or any other brand for that matter. calibrate niyo muna using a proper calibration disc (like Avia, kung walang calib disc, just use the free calibration from a disney orig dvd/bluray) - before saying the backlight bleed is an issue.
How many scenes in a regular movie (unless you're probably watching a space documentary), would have pitch black scenes? Even then, when properly calibrated, the LE series' lighting is good, you won't even notice the insignificant bleeding unless you turn off the playing source, in a completely dark room. Even then, it's insignificant. Reviews are different from real world testing, and should be taken with a grain of salt.
And as aceaceace said "as you've probably read already, EXCESSIVE backlight bleeding is a defect. if don't see it, don't look for it."

Not so sure how prevalent the backlight bleeding problem is (I personally consider it part of the package with LCDs, though it doesn't seem to affect our 47LE7500 just yet), but the stray illumination/imprecise dimming really is there. It's not that much of a dealbreaker, but it's definitely noticeable. Anytime we load a movie or a videogame, "the black above or below the credits... would be lighter than to either side." On letterboxed titles, certain portions of either vertical bars would darken or lighten, depending on which side of the screen the brightly-lit images were situated/happening.
Though the household's gotten used to it already, it definitely wasn't an issue on our older sets from Hitachi, Toshiba, Samsung, and even Vizio.
On the upside, stray illumination is entirely absent from my 32LE5500, probably because it doesn't have those 12 (?) edge light whatchamacallits behind the top and bottom corners of the screen to begin with.

I wouldn't be OC about the backlight bleeding in the first place if i haven't read it on different forums.. hehe :) it's been a while kasi since my purchase again of an HT hardware kaya wanted to make sure i get the most out of my moolah. Pero tama nga talaga, if i don't look for it, i won't see it and will just enjoy the movie.
I still can't pull the trigger yet on getting this one and naintriga ako sa Series 5 ng Samsung (2011 models). Medyo mas mahal lang nga konti pero it's one of the top choices i'm considering now with the 32LE5500.

samsung vs lg is a close fight. the reason i got an lg is for the bundled home theater (ht805pm). samsung ht's in the same price range are 'okay'. ;)

Kung unsupported yung audio ng mkv file duon sa TV, nasubukan nyo na ba magconnect ng optical cable going to htib para don lumabas ang sound (from TV -> Optical cable -> HTIB)?

One other difference is the LE5500 has a limited internet connectivity feature and higher dynamic aspect ratio so it's a bit sharper than 5300. it has 3 apps, youtube, picasa and weather, which for me are useless.
If you want my personal opinion I would rather save me some cash and get the LD460. The only really advantage of the LE5500 are, it looks better (physically) and lesser power consumption but only by a bit. If you can live without those things then LD460 is a wiser buy otherwise get the LE5500 it's as good as the more expensive Samsung Series5 LED imo.
You can see the big picture difference in default factory settings with a LED backlit LCD.. before buying you can compare them side by side.. :)

In my case, while I was hunting for a 42LE5500 stock to buy, I was tempted several times to get the series 5 samsung LED.

LG tv can decode ac3, aac files which is also surround. Also tried it with .avi with dolby digital.
DTS ang di kaya ni TV.

if the tv cant decode (aka read) the audio, it won't output anything at all, whether through the optical or tv speakers. it will display, "unsupported audio." :)

I tried it with my receiver.. theres no sound but video only on some of my files.. Tried playing all videos from my ext HDD and there are instances of unsupported audio.. I have encountered all these issues since I bought my tv dec2010..

hahaha! good for you on the 42LE5500! Tama ka and medyo reflective nga yun Samsung and mas gusto ko yun matte para walang glare or reflections. Nag demo pa nga sa akin yun salesman sa SM (for the 5300 series) how hard the panel is and pinitik-pitik pa.. LOL! Yun Samsung lang kasi siguro sa mga demo mas matingkad yun napansin ko eh hindi ako sure if ganun yun gusto ko. Pero na-intriga pa din ako sa 120hz + trumotion ng LG. Pero yun Series 5 naman kasi 100hz with Motionplus kaya pwede na rin may bonus pa na built-in DTS decoder.. hehe!
Another question lang for all LE5500 users, i saw the display unit of a 32LE5500 sa S&R today and yun LG demo video ang pina-play nila (yun may mga portraits ng ibang tao + comparison ng standard Tv sa 120hz), napansin ko lang, parang yun certain areas ng images, gumagalaw yun pixel and parang weird. Tinanong ko if naka-on na trumotion and sabi naman oo. Pero nun tinignan ko yun mga demo ng Samsung, hindi naman ganun yun PQ niya although they might be playing a Blu-ray or HD demo. Ang hirap i-explain pero kahit stationary yun subject, yun mga certain details niya, parang gumagalaw yun pixels and hindi steady.
Dahil ba ito sa demo video na pinalabas nila and baka VCD/DVD lang then upscaled? Lapit na talaga ako mag 32LE5500 pero nun nakita ko kanina, parang napabalik na naman ako sa Samsung dahil dun. Weird lang yun nakita ko and parang hindi dapat ganun for an LED/LCD TV.

Ayan nga yun nakita ko! Thanks Prometheus and try ko na lang magdala ng HD video (MKV) to audition and see if magiging acceptable sa akin yun judder. akala ko kasi perfect na yun mga ganyan technology and last na experience ko kasi sa Philips Pixel Plus pa around 2003 :)

i think what he meant was the maximum amount of HDD capacity that can fit in the two mentioned NMT models. Xtreamer SW can only fit in 2.5in. HDDs. so the max capacity is only 750gig. 1tb ata mas makapal kaya di kasya sa SW.
whereas the PRO can accomodate 3.5in. HDDs which can support 3TB.

good for you sir. sometimes kasi kung ano lang nababasa natin sa forums, we take it as gospel, even though in reality, di naman ganon kasama. like others said, if you didn't know about the backlight bleed (which is already insignficant at that when the tv is properly calibrated), you wouldn't even notice it's there. if it shows up in really dark scenes (ie credits) - then again, how much time would you actually spend to watch credits? :)
we were in the same predicament before, I was choosing between samsung and lg. samsung has slightly better pq, but the dealbreaker for me was samsung philippines' horrible customer support (you can read up on that here in the forum), i experienced that myself with them, more than 5 years ago. ganon pa din pala sila ngayon, di nagbago - compared to lg philippines' customer support (you can also read up on that), walang sinabi samsung.

mine is xtreamer sidewinder with 500gb internal
i have a total of 3 tb of external hd, a combination of 2.5 and 3.5 hds.
pairing it with le5500 is pure 'AWESOMENESS' by po of kung fu panda :)

ow ok. i think a 2.5" 1tb should still fit, generally it's the length size that matters not the thickness.
a 2tb difference is big, desktop hdds are much cheaper too.

what to look for NMT's is the decoding capability.
reading different container/file format, i think it is safe to say they are almost the same.
just ask if the unit can passthrough dts-hdma and true hd audio then your far from committing mistakes.
or else get your self an HTPC.

I dont have a 5500 but my PCH A200 has only been outputting Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master audio the entire week. I can't get enough of HD audio (especially INDICATION on the AVR - hehehe) yet, be it pure HD concert or pure BD (movie) rip...and the A200 HD audio set-up was so straightforward. ;)

I have xtreamer pro and i'm just wondering why would you say na maingay.. san mo nabasa or sino nagsabi sayo?? baka naman may unit defect yung nagsabi sayo.. yung fan lang naman ang moving part dun at yung pagread/write ng hdd.. iingay nga siguro yun kung lagyan mo ng malambot na bagay dun sa fan na magttunog roleta or may sira ang hdd.. meron forum for NMT dito hanapin mo nalang to get more feedback.. :)

you may wanna try these new incoming NMTs that have the newer networked Realtek 500mhz chipsets by HIMEDIA. fanless too, so i suppose it is pretty quiet, not to mention cooler (due to the newer chipsets)

May USB playback na dapat si 42LE5500 right? mkv etc. I have a 47" and dumadapa lang sa bigger files and cant decode properly.
Personally, I have PCH C200, R200, and PLAYER-X pero R200 is my go-to player:
expands well - 2 SATA disks (2TB x 2 disks = 4TB storage) + 2 USB disks (2TB x 2d disk = 4TB storage)
plays well - superb PQ, licensee ng DD and DTS so no sweat sa decodes, sa other players sablay yan
lasts well - solid construction aluminum finish, timbangin mo with other players panalo ka :)

maintains well - skip the hassle of fw upgrades, yung pinagdudusahan ng other players, graduate na si Egreat djan, being around since 2006. we were in the same predicament before, I was choosing between samsung and lg. samsung has slightly better pq, but the dealbreaker for me was samsung philippines' horrible customer support (you can read up on that here in the forum), i experienced that myself with them, more than 5 years ago. ganon pa din pala sila ngayon, di nagbago - compared to lg philippines' customer support (you can also read up on that), walang sinabi samsung.

Lalo na if gusto ko talaga ng super perfect LED/LCD TV and malamang matatagalan na ako bumili :) I almost got the Samsung 32D5000 kasi nga Samsung can decode DTS, slim type na, LED din. Pero worry ko nga lang din yun aftersales and sabi nga din hindi daw okay. I'll send an update later dun sa kinuha ko and in the end, I couldn't care less about backlight bleeding anymore.. :)

Nahilo na naman yata ako sa pag research ng NMTs. Akala ko sa LED/LCD okay na pero ang dami palang brand ng NMT players. Anyway, just wanted to update everyone that I finally got my LG 32" LED TV. Not to hijack this thread or anything but I didn't get the LE5500 but opted for the LE5300 instead dahil sa mga promo sale ng SM. Since contrast ratio, LED backlight and netcast lang ang discernible difference, the LE5300 should stand on its own. I'm not an expert on reviewing TVs but here's my personal take on my unit:
PROs:
- PQ is superb! Kahit sa cable TV lang masaya na ako and it looks really amazing with or w/o Truemotion on. I was then able to test it with an AVI file (350mb) and it blew me away (hindi pa HD yan). Ganda ng skin tone and colors, sobrang sulit. The judder that i noticed can only be seen if you view it up close pero if normal viewing distance, di pala siya kita :)
- I didn't notice or don't even care about backlight bleeding anymore. Enjoy ko na yun TV and glad I bought this one.
- The menu interface is the best i've seen so far and even LG made the remote control ergonomics quite good with the curved back for your index finger. Life is Good! Halatang channel surfer ako ::)
- I really like the slim profile + the fact that the wall bracket comes along with it for free
- Audio from the speakers is great!
- Great customer support. I even got to talk to someone on a Saturday and Sunday. very responsive and even got a callback after they made some further research
- As djmasterboy said, the matte screen is a personal preference and that's what i wanted. The viewing angles are superb as well
CONs
- No DTS decoder - I knew this before buying it. It didn't stop (me since I rarely find time to watch HD movies anyway and if i did, baka AC3 decoded lang naman okay na sa akin. This was almost one of my showstoppers and strongly considered the Samsung because of the limitations
- Limited file formats, my first attempt to play an HD file and I failed :( I had an Avatar encoded in M4V and the format wasn't recognized. I checked the manual and wala nga siya dun. I wonder if Samsung is able to play M4Vs? Can anybody let me know? I will probably convert it to an MKV format na lang but that's an additional step
- I will probably need to get an NMT to ensure supported file playback. Medyo dun lang lalabas yun hidden cost sa pag purchase ng LG which is why I really considered the Samsung 32C5000 or even the 32D5000

try a brand new wire.sometimes this is the main problem re viewing local channels.the thickness of the wire is my main concern here.. second,if you are using spliters.try to change that also to a new one.last is the end cable where you are connecting.main reason why you have poor pq is because wire are old and maybe has damage from the inside.
my LE5500 dont have flicker issue by the way.

actually sir yan din ang problema ko, may nagpunta na taga destiny dito sa amin para i-check. binisita din ang mga kapitbahay para i check din kung ako lang o may ibang affected. yung mga kapitbahay ganun din ang problema. tawag-tawag sila tapos may instrument na ginamit to check the signal strength...conclusion nila sa destiny mismo sa pagbroadcast daw ang problema. sa mga naka tube type na TV di ito pansin pero sa mga LCD kita mo talaga.....sabi ko nga sana naman gawan nila ng paraan...so far hanggang ngayon wala pa din. gumamit ako ng signal booster, nakatulong pero konti lang. palit na din ako ng mga connectors para sure pero ganun pa din.

ako din destiny 57&58 din problema. sa crt tv namin wala syang problema sa HDTV lang. Tinanggal na nga nila yung btv palpak pa yung ibang channel. pagnakalipat nako cignal hd na ko.

Yup. It does, I use a Measy player and lumalabas yung option for trumotion for low, high, and user. Kahit sa TV and cable meron din. HTH :)

QC ako bro. According sa mga nabasa ko dito sa forums, mahina daw tlga signal ng destiny to a point na some LCD models could not get clear signals. Wala daw ganitong issues sa Sky at syempre lalo na sa Cignal as it uses satelite signal in digital format.

True dat. Unfortunately, I don't think us LE5500 owners have any other option, unless we also happen to have an HTIB with an analog audio in.
Wala na kasing analog (i.e. red and white composite cable) audio out ang LE5500. Problema ko rin nga ngayon 'yan with my Pioneer HTIB, kasi wala naman s'yang optical audio in, so my only option was to connect it and the TV using the headphones out ng LE5500. I'm using a Belkin cable with a standard 3.5mm jack on one end (connected to the headphones out nung TV) and a pair of red and white composite cables (connected to the analog audio in nung HTIB) on the other.
Argh, and pangit pa rin ng tunog! >:( >:( >:(
So now, I'm compelled to save up for a <sigh> Onkyo S3300 or S3400 HTIB. Sana lang may stock pa sa SnS by the time I already have the extra dough for it :'(

hahaha. yun lang talaga ang talo pag manonood ka lang ng cable sa 32le5500. kung may program lang sana na pwedeng ma override yung pag adjust ang treble tsaka bass pag may naka saksak sa headphones jack. kaso nakakatakot baka ma brick ko yung tv ko. sobrang flat lang talaga ang tunog nya? bakit kaya naisipan ng mga taga lg na disabled and equalization pag may nakasaksak na headphones?

Problem kasi, I bought my Pioneer HTIB over 3 years ago, along with the 32" Toshiba Regza C3500E that the LE5500 eventually replaced. After the fact ko na lang nalaman na wala na palang analog audio out si LE5500.
Buti pa 'yung contemporary offerings ng Sony (i.e. the BX and EX series), meron pa ring analog audio outs. Oh well, no use crying over my spent P25K anymore anyway, so... see you soon, SnS ;)

specs say it has no digital inputs (aka optical, hdmi, etc). there's one "audio input" but that might be a mini-plug in, an analog signal. it will technically work, pero 2ch lang.

I connect my TV to the AVR using a toslink cable and set the sound to Dolby ProLogic II. Ok naman ang tunog. Doesn't sound close to a BD or DVD but it's good enough, I think.

if it happens all the time (aka other games), then prob is with ps3 or tv. if sa star ocean lang, then prob might be with game :)

Mga ka-LE5500! Nakita ko po yung bagong LED modeL ng LG na LV5500! Maganda yung LED pero ang good news Lahat haLos ng features nito ay present sa ating LE5500 so kahit hindi na mag-upgrade ng TV on par pa din yung LED natin for year 2011! Ngayon hindi na ako nagsisisi na ito ang piniLi kong tv kesa dun sa 37LD460! God bLess to us aLL!

Anybody tried using this as a computer monitor? ;D The CD did not come with a monitor driver so my laptop can only select up to the same resolution as my laptop's built-in LCD. With my previous LCD monitor it can select the full 1920x1080 resolution but that's probably because the monitor came with a .INF monitor driver. I was wondering if using the HDMI connection instead of VGA would be any different?
Btw, as a TV -- its veeerrry nice!

Try projector only mode, not extended display in. You can fully utilize full HD resolution in HDMI.

Thanks! I'll try that. I was able to get native resolution on VGA using Linux but couldn't do the same in Windows Vista because I can't find an INF file for this TV. I guess LG didn't bother to make one for older hardware. My previous laptop didn't have an HDMI port so I was stuck. Luckily my new computer arrived and it has HDMI, so I'll try your suggestion.

I am so miffed that LG didn't make good on its promise to add a Skype widget (and peripheral camera) to its last generation of flatscreens till the very end. If I'm not mistaken, even the current LV series still has no Skype widget available out of the box; downloadable daw, sabi nung napagtanungan kong taga-Abenson (and you know how those guys would promise you the moon for a sale). But pa 'yung latest Sony LCDs/LEDs, may Skype na, may naka-package 'pang camera and wi-fi dongle :-\

Sony's 32" SmartTV LCD is retailing for just P29K, and it's already packaged with the wi-fi dongle and Skype camera.
IIRC, the LED model is just costlier by P1K, but doesn't include the same freebies above, which would otherwise set you back by at least P10K (half of which is for the dongle alone. Yes - a P5K wi-fi dongle!)
And I just had to get one of the last few LG 32LE500s 3 months ago. Aaargh!!!

well dude the reason the 32LE5500 is being priced so cheap in fact half of what it used to be when it rolled out in the market cuz all appliance center would like to get rid of all the old stock to pave way for the LV5500 series. for the 26,500 pesos thats already a big bargain for a LED TV with superb quality. so dont expect the LV5500 would fit your budget cuz its definitely a new model. as to your question where to find LE5500, Very hard to find nowadays bro as to LV5500 am pretty sure its all over metro manila. as stated above the only difference between LE5500 and LV5500 are the applications and widgets all hardware specs are almost identical so therefore there no reason to buy the LV over the LE if minimal lang changes and malaki price difference.

usually its being sold by the same store where you got your LE5500. using a third party wifi dongle wont work with LE5500. i tried using the official LG USB Wifi dongle with my laptop(win7 64bit) di rin ma recognize ng laptop or windows ang Wifi dongle proprietary ang design ng LG wifi dongle and can only be used with any USB tv with wifi capabilities.

The wifi dongle is proprietary. I think I posted a test I did in one of the backpages, it will work on other computers, but other dongles won't work with the TV unless it's LG OEM.

well dude the reason the 32LE5500 is being priced so cheap in fact half of what it used to be when it rolled out in the market cuz all appliance center would like to get rid of all the old stock to pave way for the LV5500 series. for the 26,500 pesos thats already a big bargain for a LED TV with superb quality. so dont expect the LV5500 would fit your budget cuz its definitely a new model. as to your question where to find LE5500, Very hard to find nowadays bro as to LV5500 am pretty sure its all over metro manila. as stated above the only difference between LE5500 and LV5500 are the applications and widgets all hardware specs are almost identical so therefore there no reason to buy the LV over the LE if minimal lang changes and malaki price difference.

You might wanna consult the dealers/shop sight and sounds and you'll find more facts about it.. I traded mine with another unit of the same model and they're aware of it.. ;)

dude lam mo at either 26,500 or 23,500 doesnt really matter whoever has stock grab it na,dont wait maubusan ka at magsisi ka for that price thats already way too cheap for the quality that your getting.

ako naman naghahanap ng 42 inch version ng LE5500, sana meron pa natitira dito sa metro manila. kung wala baka 42LV5500 nalang. d kasi ako after masyado sa bagong model, kasi nabasa ko dito halos walang pinagbago yung LE sa LV series. mas mura pa yung 2010 model.

guys, ok na yung flickering problems sa analog cable sa ibang channels ng 32le5500 ko. ang kailangan lang pala, software update lang ginawa ng LG technician. itawag nyo na habang pasok pa sa warranty yung unit nyo! enjoy ;)

Would that be reliable? Let's compare a tv that was made a month ago and was used as a 'model' unit for display versus something that was made 6 months back, stored in a factory and shipped to the owner. Make sense?

You could try this if this would also work on that model, press setting then press the red button on the remote. That will show the product information and tells you the time the tv has consumed.

I have a 32LE5500 in my room while my cousin has the LV3400. From what I've noted so far:
- LE5500 is full HD, LE3400 is not
- LE5500 has 100Hz TruMotion, LE3400 has not (standard 60Hz only)
- LE5500 has soft touch keys that light up on the bottom part of the front bezel, LE3400 seems (?) to only have the conventional keypads on the right side corner for non-remote control of the TV set
Just not sure, though, if these features are worth the P6K diff.

WOW! I started this thread 2 weeks after getting my unit in Jan 2011 and was surprised to see dami na rin bumili! Kudos to us cause this TV rocks! I even attempted to replace it with a bigger LED TV (and give this to my Mom) pero pagdating ko sa Sights and Sounds sabi nila "Sir, wag na kayo magpalit, sayang dami naghahanap ng unit na yan!" I ended up buying my Mom her own 32 inch LCD hehe. I love this TV and kung meron 42 inch version pa sa market baka mapabili ako!
Here is my set up:

PS3
Cignal HD
Destiny Local Cable
2TB External HD for Movies and TVV Series in HD
I do have some minor issues, (1) the LG logo does not seem to light up (heck I havent even seen it) when I turn the TV on and (2) I bought a cheap sound bar from Ganzklar but found out that the TV does not have RCA out. I can only connect the sound bar thru 3.5 cable via headset port in TV pero nawawala sounds whenever I play movies or just watch TV. Ano pwede work around dun mga papi? Right now, I have both the PS3 and Cignal Box connected directly to the sound bar. Help would be appreciated!

I agree! This TV really really rocks!!! Awesome crisp pictures on both my PS3 and movies!! Although recently may napansin akong single thin green vertical line sa may left part ng screen. I hope LG can still fix this for me for free! Lampas 1 year na kasi yung receipt ko from Ansons. Hehe! :)

Share ko lang! I called LG yesterday regarding my green vertical line problem and the technician went to my house the same day. The tech team went back this afternoon and voila! My TV is as good as new! They just had to replace the main panel module. CHEERS TO LG'S CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! THE BEST!! ;D

Galing naman :) isa din sa main factor ko yun after sales service ng LG kaya yan ang binili kong brand, although I have the 5300 model. Okay din ang phone support nila, talagang very responsive at tutulungan ka talaga. Kudos to LG support and may peace of mind ka na at wala na yung green line.. hehe!

thanks! also, I've noticed that sometimes Trumotion makes the video laggy. Para bang nakukulangan processing power minsan. You have to pause and then go rewind to see the scene go back to being fluid. Is this normal?

I notice this happens pag mainit na sobra yung tv. haha. like 2hours straight naka-on yung tv with trumotion on. I just use the built in media player ng tv via USB or sometimes my PS3.
Do you think I should report this to LG? I'm gonna call them anyway coz I have a dead pixel right smack in the middle of my screen. I guess I'm going to mention this na lang as well.
