Would also like to know if this TV is at par or better than the C530/C550 in terms of PQ and if it's built-in media player also decodes DTS audio like it's predecessor. Am curious as to what the Ethernet connection offers though, considering that it doesn't seem to have internet TV.

What is the contrast ratio and viewing angle of this model?
My son always wanted to sit behind me in bed when we are watching TV.
When I asked him to sit in front of me, he told me he cannot see anything when he's upfront.
I realized that our old LCD had a narrow viewing angle and all my son sees is a black screen when he's too near the TV (ceiling mounted).
We're shopping for a new TV!
I spent 2 sleepless nights reading up the discussions of 32inchers only to get even more confused with the introduction of this new model! :-\
Awaiting for reviews on this model.
Hoping this would make a nice computer monitor as well for surfing the internet.

Saw the last unit last weekend at SnS and I got quite concerned about the color. Parang di ganon kaganda 'yong kulay; parang maputla. Di ko ma-describe pero parang masyadong maliwanag. However, same day ni-check ko sa appliance store ng SM parang ok naman.
Hopefully may mag-feedback na regarding this model. Sana rin magkaroon na ng 37".

Got this unit today as replacement for my son's 3 day old LG 32LD460 for gaming.
My impressions are as follows:
Positive:
Better picture clarity and detail, better black color rendition, color is similar to Panasonic, faster motion handling for a 60Hz TV (no juddering on fast scenes, gaming is better, no lagging), panel is almost but not as shiny as my series 6, swivel stand is square glass, lan connection, 4 HDMI 1.4 A, headphone out (very important for gamers and for external speakers) more user friendly remote control, really lots of menu option settings (almost same as series 6 except for internet), Picture in Picture (I really don't use this), DTS, dolby Digital Plus, SRS TruDialog, Touch control panel than side controls.
Negative:
20 watts speakers (but has equalizer, DTS, SRS Theatre sound...)
Remote has no light option on buttons compared to Series 6 (very usable when dark, it works for me)
Colors/Contrast are reduced on both sides/top/bottom angle viewing when watching cable and dvd. IPS/IPS alpha panels have better viewing angles.

This panel is in my bedroom and for me sound volume is decent enough, plus i can use my wireless headphone in this unit when playing games, you can test this lcd in sns they have a display to better appreciate how it performs and make a side by side comparison to other panels.
add: There is auto volume option setting for the TV sound ;D...

i love that this tv decodes dts. i dont have to buy an extremer anymore just a hard drive is enough. picture quality is better than LG.

picture mode seems to divert to dynamic (which is too bright for the eye) every 30 min so i have to press the p mode every time im watching mkv files through an hdd or watching tv or when turning it on again
when watching tv a pop up box appears on top "noise filter" and below "auto visualization". i managed to figure out to take it off but when i turned it on again this morning it was there again.
the negative comments are just minimal, maybe i just still dont know how to save the settings or what not. Its actually my only problem with this tv. your commments or suggestions will be highly appreciated specially for those samsung users who might have experienced the same thing. Overall the pic quality is better than lg. its just that it cant seem to save the settings.

Is the pip feature similar to the older crt models which can show the output from the same input, for example, the main screen shows cable tv and the pip screen also shows cable tv? The LA32C550 can only show output from two different sources, so it cannot show cable tv in the pip screen while the main screen is showing cable tv.
We had a crt samsung tv which had this feature so we can watch gma and abs-cbn at the same time ;D
Does the LA32D550 have this capability or if not, is there a way to make it output from the same source such that one can still watch gma and abs-cbn at the same time specially during news time!

Finally figured out how to change it to home mode. I'm really happy with this TV. It's really a good buy and i have peace of mind knowing that it came out of the box because its configuration is still on default. Thanks again Sir Vic for the TV. Next stop Onkyo hts3400 :)

grabe im fortunate lang talaga siguro last saturday kasi i was supposed to get the same lg unit due to backlight bleeding in less than one month pero sinuggest ni arthur na itong unit nlaang ang kunin ko. 2011 model kasi and one month palang daw kasi sa market as per arthur kaya in demand

Can anybody here comment on the built-in media player of these lcd tvs. Is it much better if they were played using NMTs. I tried playing them on 32D550 (being displayed in a appliance fair), and I was surprised that Sony's 32BX320 built-in player was much better in terms of picture quality. Also 32BX320 can fast forward and reverse much faster.
I recently bought Sony 32BX320 when our living room TV a Sony 32" crt tv broke down. I'm also planning to buy another lcd tv, so I'm thinking about this Samsung 32" model, though I much prefer c550 because of av inputs at the side.

Other than being aesthetically built, we wanted its built-in media player via USB. D550's PQ vs Tosh RV700E is pretty much the same with my eyes (my wife likes RV700 better).
For the Media Player situation, were pretty much okay hooking up my laptop via HDMI for now. :)

Bukod nga sa media player, another plus is the 2 years warranty of samsung, I believe. Unless, 2 yrs warranty din si Tosh. Dati kasi kaya nahuhuli sa listahan ko si Sammy due to its price but now parang consider ko na sya though many says ok pq ng rv700 esp on cable tv. hmmm... ::)

Yes I'm pleasantly surprised to see the RV700's cable TV performance. You can even fine tune each channel as you see fit. Meron weird nga lang, kung off yung signal booster mas malinaw kesa sa naka-on. Maybe a bug on Tosh's part. Destiny user here.

Hi sir, got it from a local appliance store at P24k since meron pa shipping cost sa province namin.
I figured better to get a local purchase para di na hassle for warranty or assistance :-)

Yes, pwede. As long as yung video file at subtitles ay magkapareho ng file name.
Ex: Avatar.avi and Avatar.srt

This TV is really good in total performance. I do have one concern though, it does NOT have the "resume" option that other models have. If you play a movie and decided to stop it, when you play it back, you'll have to forward/skip until your last viewed scene. It does not remember where you stopped.

Got one LA32D550 from SnS last friday night, been checking this unit and Panasonic VIERA TH-L32C3X 32 sa malls and dito sa forums, but last friday bago ako pumunta sa SnS, since my wife went to Podium, sabi check ko muna ulit this time sa Anson's. At first I was very satisfied with the PQ of Panasonic althought hirap sya talaga mag-read with my 320gHD not like sa Samsung in just a sec. read akad yung files. Iba talaga sa SnS you can compared it side by side. With freebies ba na FiiO ;D, thanks again SnS.

hi im new here. how did u connect your ls32d550 to external speakers? I did not want to use the headphone jack. I dont have a optical digital cable (where can you buy one anyway) and my amp is really old so i can only use RCA.
I didnt have any problem setting up my panasonic viera since it has an RCA audioo out. My samsung doesnt. I have had so many sleepless nights trying to figure this out

i purchased la32d50 last sun. all over satisfied on this lcd. thanks to Sns, kay john na nag assist sa min, ask ko lng po kung panu ausin ung PIP. di ko po kasi sya mgamit. pano po makaknood ng two screen na isa sa cable and ung isa is for videos.

it also plays .M2TS file all of my TOY STORY movies were played
the only extension it did not play was AVCHD ISO file which konting lang naman ung mga gantong file...
il try other file extension tomorrow....

I bought it kasi it plays a lot of video files... from AVI to MKV... which is really convenient for me... all I need to do is plug my external HDD and voila!!!
the thing na napansin ko is it plays 1080p files (kahit na 10gb) but not those encoded with AVC [email protected]... it will only play files lower than AVC [email protected] like AVC [email protected]... I have tried atleast 3 mkv files with AVC [email protected] and all have not played... error message agad...
hopefully magkaroon nga ng firmware update for this issue...
all in all am really satisfied... ;D

I forgot to mention nga pala na updated na rin yung firmware ko to the latest one (Sept 011)... nung una akong naka receive ng error message while playing 1080p mkv file, immediately ako nag update from stock firmware to the new one (1020.0 - Sept 02, 2011) pero wala pa rin nangyari... error pa rin video codec not supported...
what I did nalang to play all these files with AVC [email protected], is inedit ko na lang yung level using H264 Level Editor... bale from 5.0 to 4.1... mabilis naman yung editing so ok lang... walang na edit in terms of video or audio quality... just the level (mga 10 seconds lang duration ng editing)...

i emailed them and they advised that the updates are for the built in media player... added codecs stuff like that...

got the 40D550 last oct 31st and am loving it! higit na mas maganda kesa sa LED crap na 40D5000.
picture quality is to my liking.di masakit sa mata at ang ganda ng blacks!mas maganda din ang tunog ng built in speakers nya. nung una akala ko bukas na yung hometheater ko kasi parang naka surround na yung sounds.yun pala yung built in speakers lang nya
ito talaga ang first choice ko na kukunin instead dun sa walang kwentang LED model. im glad nakuha ko pa din. blessing in the skies ;D na din ang nangyari! :D
only thing i dont like is degraded ang sound pag ginamit mo yung optical out ng TV to receiver. bawas ang lakas ng sound nya unlike pag yung NMT ang direct na naka connect sa receiver but other than that. im happy overall. :)

yes, there is a new FW for the 32 inch version... I am using one and I have updated it... just visit the Samsung site and locate our LCD TV model then download the available FW for it...1020.0 (Sept 2011 release)... extract it to a USB drive... then plug it to your TV... mga few mins lang naman yung update basta hope na walang power interruption while doing it...

Newbie here, I've been reading several threads here for the past 2 days which are mostly related to LA40D550 and UA40D5000. And after long dilemma I decided to go for LA40D550, I just got it 3 hours ago from SNS.
Bought it as a early christmas gift for my Dad, he said malabo na daw mata nya and he needs a 40" TV, lol I know lame excuse ;D ANW i would just like to ask, I saw from previous post that yung panel na nabili nila is SQ01 when i checked mine it has SQ02, I was just wondering if may difference ba yun? mejo first time ko kasi bumili ng HD-TV kaya I'm really clueless about stuff. Also can anyone share a good setting for this unit. Thanks in advance :)

tinawagan ko yung service center last monday. a week exact from the day na check ng tech nila. sabi wala pa daw yung panel and they are not sure kung kailan dadating. kung dumating daw sa araw na yun, they will have it installed by wed.
less than an hour after tumawag ulit yung nakausap ko saying they forwarded it back sa samsung for a replacement unit request na lang daw. now i have to deal with samsung again. this will take a while....
noticed sa job order, yung LED pa pala ang naka register sa kanila, naku baka mamaya e ang i-deliver at ipalit nila e same model nung dating pinapalitan ko tapos pina refund ko. LED for the price of the LCD? nagkakagulo na ang samsung sa dami siguro ng mga complaints :P

I have the 32D550 almost a month na. Then we bought a home theater to complete the cast. Hehe. I just have one problem, it is regarding the HDMI Connection when using Sammy's built-in player. connection from the HT's DVD is ok (video/audio). Pero kapag ginagamit ko yung built in player nga, yung sound is sa TV pa rin nanggagaling. Gusto ko sana sa HT na rin palabasin yung sound. Meron po ba akong kulang? I tried playing with the settings for both pero wala pa rin talaga.

after a month and a half, yung 40D550 ko nagkaroon na ng vertical line sa right side. called Vic @ SnS muna kaso lampas na nga ng 1 month. too bad. so called Samsung last monday. Tuesday pinuntahan na ng tech. scheduled for panel replacement na in 3-4 days. haaayy...... 3 in a row.... kaka stress... can't get a decent TV nowadays. buti pa yung lumang series 4 ko. never had any problems.

same month pala tayo nakabili ng sammy sa SNS. i bought this one as a gift for my folks. last time i watched and checked on it ok pa naman *fingers crossed*. matagal-tagal na din nga yung pagdating ng BR player promo na yan. i was told previous buyers waited for 2 months before they got the BR player. so it should be this month.
i hope maayos din lahat yan.

if you ask me, una, tingin ka ibang brand like Sony,LG etc.
second, get the LCD. its cheaper. you dont get that much from LED TV's naman. pareho lang.backlight lang naiba.

an officate got an LA40D550, he updated the firmware and had no problems so far. it can play mkv's. check the local samsung website, may support sila where you can get the latest firmware.

im planning to buy the 40D550. hows the performance? planning to use this as a monitor for my laptop. im also planning to use this for gaming, movies (through laptop). is the refresh rate enough for gaming, or the 37D5000 better? im also considering the LG 42LK450.

Kung full array lang sana ang mga TV nowadays.. Anyway, like some of you guys here, I am also very OC pagdating sa malilit na detalye ng gamit ko and I was planning to get a LCD TV / LED TV pero parang mas wala ako magiging problema sa 32D550. Tanong ko na rin kung kamusta naman ang contrast ng D550? Wala pa kasi ako time para pumunta sa mall at iaudition ang 32D550 at 32D5000. :)

Been using my trustee 32D550 for almost 3 months now. So far so good, it never turned me down lalo na kapag may visitors. Hehe. Literal na bugbog to sa araw-araw, 20+ hours of use everyday from simple Cable TV to USB Movie watching. Haven't had the chance to upgrade the FW though. Baka masira ko pa eh. Hehe.

Just bought a 32D550 yesterday. I could say that it works great and we're having a good time watching movies here. We don't have a big space so I chose the 32 inch version.
UPDATE: I've been trying to update the firmware of my TV into the 2012 firmware but no matter what way (internet or usb), the TV can't seem to detect the firmware. Patulong naman po kung paano ko ito maaayos.

guys yung 32d550 ko 3months pa lang, kanina magnagfliflicker sa loob parang spark then pinatay ko after 2 hours binuksan ko ulit ayun nawala na sya
i bought this on SnS shangrila, pano ba yung warranty nito if ever my problem, san ko dadalin Samsung service center? meron ba malapit sa cubao?
and wala ba sila yung parang sa abenson na mismo yung technician ang pupunta sa bahay to check on the unit?

call Samsung directly. they will schedule a technician to go to your house and check/assess your unit and from there,make a report on what needs to be done.
You will find the Samsung hotline in this thread.

sir ask ko lang kung anong magandang i-terno na HT or Speaker lang sa unit naten?kz meron na din akong bluray player (yung free na kasama pagkabili ko ng unit), or pede din kahit HT para hindi ko masyado magamit ang bluray player para hindi kagad masira. btw ung unit ko is 40inches.salamat sa mga makakasagot.

naguluhan ako sa post mo so ayaw mo mag HT para di gaano magamit ng bluray para di masira? Just a recommendation to fully utilize and satisfied on your purchase i suggest you purchase a separate receiver and speaker. :D :D
