Guys,
Let me first explain my setup. I have a Gaming/HT PC connected to my Pana 42c10. This setup has served me well for the past year or so. My PC runs almost 24/7 as I use it as a torrent downloader as well. This summer, with extended aircon use, my energy bill has really spiked up.
This got me thinking of getting an NMT or a Netbook just to download files for me 24/7. I wouldn't really need this device to play videos for me as I have my PC for that.
I just need a convenient and easy to use torrent downloader (with minimal power consumption). So what do you guys think?

im using etrayz, <20watts power consumption or you can use a low power pc like atom

how's the bittorent function on the etrayz sir? I heard na may random lock-ups daw pag nagdodownload, is that true?
-
i was fine using the built in torrent of the pch. only issue i have with it is the inability to choose files to download in a torrent of a movie group. so i try csi transmission 2.21. this custom torrent downloader is so buggy i want to smash my computer screen whenever it comes up with a new error message. any help? want to download one movie from a movie pack sana using just the default torrent of pch.

I use a free app (Transmission) in my eTrayz and downloading is a breeze.. No problem at all.. I can even choose just a file or 2 to download in a movie group.. ;D ;D

Both a NMT and Netbook are lower power devices, and they are both in the same price range, so it is just a matter of what would add value for your particular situation. Since you already have a Gaming PC which I assume you use for media playback too, I suggest you get a netbook instead. A NMT would only duplicate the playback abilities of the your gaming PC and aside from being a torrent client host there isn't much else you can use it for. A netbook on the other hand you can use if ever your gaming PC konksout, there might even be some with decent media playback. Another advantage of a netbook is that you can choose from several torrent clients.

Torrent Downloader (NMT or Netbook)
still using my trusty msi wind u100 netbook for 24/7 downloading, bought last oct 2009, gang ngayon di pa rin pinapatay. hahaha! buti matibay sya. lol.

Im still using a netbook as the router and download machine. Low power and flexible too :)

If you buy an NMT and you won't watch vidoes, sayang pera lang yun! May mga routers na may torrent support kaya ung router mismo ang magtotorrent although I've heard that it is quite hard to setup
