Just heard about this video shop from another thread? Is it good as some members say? Dami daw choices sila and also hard to find films. How much din ba membership fee nila? Id appreciate feedbacks, thanks a lot. :)
-
hi armenia where is Video 48 located?
-
Howdy!
I've been a member for almost three years. It has the widest selection of videos I know. It's along West Avenue, Quezon City. You may call them 3732936.
There is a lifetime but refundable membership fee. Good luck and hope you'll be part of the club.
-
The membership fee which is lifetime is P400.00 and also refundable.
If you are looking for rare, classic and out-of-print titles VIdeo 48 is heaven for you just like ebay!
Thanks Reuven for the referral. :D
-
jlo2 do you plan to visit Video 48? I might drop by tomorrow or at least in the weekend.
-
Also, they are only open from Monday-Saturday from 10am to 9pm.
-
Just dropped by last Friday. Quite a lot of selections compared to other video shops not to mention the refundable P400 membership fee. I give it a thumbs up.
The girls there were quite suprised when I told them that PinoyDVD often talks about their videoshop. Kinabahan siguro, but I told them ok lang since the website encourages more people to visit their shop. :)
At least it was worth the visit kahit malayo.

I used to rent rare VHS titles here back in college...
marami na ba yung DVD titles nila?
-
how much ba rentals ngayon?
-
P30 for VHS P60 for DVD, but I think the main attraction there is yung mga VHS talaga and laserdisc a lot of OOP,RARE, and OLD titles. Warning din pala to DVD renters, all theyre stocks are region 3 classified, it would only support Philippine made/bought DVD players.
Anyway I just hope they have as well Dancer in the Dark in VHS/DVD sa kanila bukas. Also looking for some rated titles like Ilsa and Emmanuele series-does any Video 48 member know kung meron sila nito?
-
Requirements for membership aside from the P 400 fee? Natanong ko na kay X44 dati kaya lang na-delete ko yung PM nya. I planned on going there dati pa kaya lang naaabutan ako ng closing. I'll be dropping there mamaya siguro to meet my wife dun. SHe'll be paying for the fee hehehe ;D

ako din! back in 93 pa yata ako nag-member. puro LDs pa ang nire-rent ko & mga betamax ;D i think i borrowed some 20+ cary grant films from them alone in a span of two months. dami nila classics sobra.
i wish may ganyan sa min ngayon sa las pinas ::)
-
I became a member just last month an have just begun to sample the treasure trove that is Video 48. A lot of classics and hard-to-finds are in VHS but a lot are copies of laser discs and DVDs. The DVD list is quite extensive too. Spread the word!
-
Paano po ba ako makakarating ng Video 48 kung galing po ako ng España? Sulit naman po ba yung lifetime membership na P400? I guess I have to see their film titles... I'm interested...
Maraming salamat po.
:)

Howdy, chard!
You may take any jeep going to Proj. 6 or Pag-asa. Along West Ave., it's on your right side. Left side is a Petron station. You may also call them. See the number I posted above. It's worthwhile if you don't mind going there for titles. They're quite updated and carry massive titles, some rare ones even.
Welcome to the club!
-
thanks!
:D

any other video 48 branches?

any other video 48 branches?
As far as I know...there's only 1 branch of Video 48 in Q.C.
After renting proceed to Pastry Passion...their tiramisu can beat other pastries in coffee bars.
-
its a good shop, been a member since 1990
-
Good heavens me rental na rin in the area. Its been difficult when laser video along timog closed shop several months back. out of the way naman yung branch nila sa d tuazon
maka enrol na nga!

I was able to rent the Criterion Collection discs of "In the Mood for Love" from Video 48. The digital transfer of the Criterion edition really gave justice to the beautiful cinematography of this film and the bonus features are heavenly!
Some of the newer discs in Video 48 (as in ngayon ko pa lang natiymepuhan): Fritz Lang's "Metropolis" (although not the restored version), Truffaut's "The 400 Blows" (with "Antoine and Collette" in the package), and Resnais' "Hiroshima Mon Amour".

Sayang. I was going there pa naman tomorrow to rent. Naunahan mo ko. Hehe ;D
-
I was able to rent after office hours STRAW DOGS Criterion Collection, SISTERS & CONTEMPT also Criterion Collection.
It's nice to know that Video 48 still survives amidst the difficulty of maintaining a dvd rental shop.
Let's support this fellow members.

Hey bro, once you're through with the discs, pwede paki-reserve naman them for me? Hehe...
Baka kasi maunahan uli ako. Once a week lang din kasi ako dumalaw dun.

No problem bro.
Will text you as soon as I finished watching the 3 dvds & returned them to video 48. Next week kita-kita tayo ulit nina Reuven Malter.

Yes, the 400 bucks is a lifetime fee and is refundable. The selection is quite extensive - I live in Manila but the trips I make there are well worth the gas spent. The more discs you rent, the longer they can stay with you. The overdue fees ain't too bad either. (Halatang delinkwente magsoli :) )

What are the other requirement para maging member ka dito?
-
Hey. Does this place still exist? Is it reachable via MRT (I live in Makati)? An answer would be appreciated.
-
If you're coming from Makati via MRT, go all the way to the last stop which is North Avenue (the station near SM City North EDSA). Take a jeep going to Quiapo or anything that'll traverse West Avenue. I think it's less than a mile or so from EDSA and remember to alight at the second signal (there's a gasoline station and an intersection).
What I don't know if they renovated the place since the last time I actually went there was 2004, though I saw that it was still operational when I went back to Manila nung 2005.
-
panu po pagnawala na ung receipt? and san na ung gate nila pagdumadaan kc ako
west ave., akala ko sarado n cla?
-
actually, i lost mine soon after i signed up with them. unless you're retracting your membership, you won't need the receipt to rent videos from them.
the last time i passed by video 48 was two years ago and the complex was being renovated nun. the entrance if i remember correctly is on the side, not visible along west avenue, on the street that ends on a subdivision gate, i believe. there is a small security guard desk and you would immediately notice the door to Video 48 because of the displayed action figures on the glass window.
-
ah i remember na sa side nga lng pla. i borrowed only once kya medyo d q n mremember.
-
Check it out:

-
Are they still open? Do they also have DVDs for rent (newer titles)?
-
Still open. Renovated. Lotsa good titles in the foreign films section - you just have to ask for them since these are in a separate room.
-
How much is the membership fee?
How much is the rental rates?
What's the alloted period for rentals?
Are they picky on who they'll allow to be members?
-
If I remember, t'was four hundred pesos when I applied for membership. Dunno if they increased the price.
Also, I believe it's P40 for the rentals (both DVD and VHS--haven't tried their laserdiscs, though).
Normally, they let you keep those you rented for a week (I admit, sometimes I go beyond the one-week period, but I go there often noon, kaya siguro nakilala na rin yung mukha ko dun hehe)
Nope, they don't. I just drove there one time after work (I also inquired the details of the store from one of the members here, i think si X44 ata), and signed up with them.
HTH :)
-
how's the selection? near lang kasi sa amin ito.
-
During the time na madalas ako mag-rent dun, their DVD selection is quite small pa (which are housed in plastic storage bins and the few that could not fit are displayed at a glass cabinet pagpasok mo). They have a really good selection of VHS and laserdiscs (the LDs are located upstairs and most of the tapes are arranged either by director or genre).
-

Foreign films (US and non-US) now occupy two walls (near ceiling to floor) of a small walk-in closet-size room.
-
Does this rental shop still exists? Or close na?
-
It's open. Check the link to the web log for details.
