I've been using my PS3 slim as a cd player for quite some time now. Connected it through HDMI to my Denon AVR.
Anyone tried comparing its SQ to a dedicated cd player like from Marantz, NAD, CA, etc?
How's does it fair?
Appreciate all your inputs :)
Thanks!!!

Try comparing toslink and hdmi to see if you can notice a difference (if you have an optical cable handy, then it'd be a cost-free experiment). Toslink is generally better for CD audio, as it's a lower jitter interface.
If you're not gonna do any processing, the CD player may do better IF the sonic signature works for your system.

Or instead of a cd player, buy a DAC to connect between your PS3 and your amplifier

Right now i'm using my AVR to play lossless files via uPnP being shared by my laptop, so far it's the best for me. Though i'm still looking for a dedicated audio streamer..
Eto pangarap ko for my Lossless Files and MP3's

I owned the 60Gb asian edition in the past. 'Never liked the sound of cd or sacd played to it. Just for comparison then, I used separate players (Lexicon, modded Marantz and modded Cayin) that are still with me to date.
