Title: Foobar remote
Post by: sientobente on Apr 24, 2012 at 07:02 AM
Hello Sirs,

Anyone uses Foobar to play music? I'm looking for a remote to be able to select, skip, play pause music. I found out that android has a software which can do this. any other alternatives? Coz I don't want to buy an android phone just because of that.

Thanks.

For Ipad users, Remote 2.2 released by Apple breaks TouchRemote

Best choice na yung Android, imho. Madami kasing Foobar controllers for Android, pwede ka mamili. You can also control other applications like PowerDVD sa Android, madami kasi controller apps for this platform talaga.

You can buy a cheap tablet or phone purely for this purpose, kung ayaw mo magpalit ng phone.

Kung iOS gamit mo sa phone mo, try foo_TouchRemote.

@JoeyGS
Thank you Master Joey for the advice.  :) Check ko kung compatible siya sa luma kong Ipod Touch.

@StageA
Oo nga naman Master, marami nga palang cheap choices for tablet pcs that run android. How does this connect pala master? controlled through wifi? Kinda interested because I saw an android tablet pc that cost less than P4k and it runs Froyo.

Yep, over WiFi siya. Just remember to get an ARM-based Android device kung kukuha ka, at baka MIPS ang makuha mo. Medyo kokonti ang apps pang MIPS eh.

Try mo din foo_TouchRemote sa iPod mo baka kayanin.

This is interesting. Controlled sya through IR right? Coz the possibility of using a wifi remote turned me off since kelangan pa pala naka-on yung router to do that unless there are apps that doesn't need to?

They should, though not very well imo. Android apps still work best with Foobar and J River.

Gizmo / WebGizmo ang gamit sa J River kung gagamit ka ng smart device. Foobar2000 Controller, Foobar2000 Remote Control, etc. kung pang Foobar.

The greatest advantage of a smart device is nababasa mo dun sa handheld yung mga pwede mong iplay at yung current na pineplay. Pag keyboard kasi dapat nakabukas yung display mo.

Kung di mo kailangan ng 3G, meron mga Galaxy Tab 2 for 10k. Yung 3G/Phone version costs 14k ata.

Where did you see this pricing for the Tab 2, boss? Lowest i saw for the Tab 2 (3G/Wifi) was 15,900.

Just to share, i found a way to not turn the monitor/tv on in my htpc setup to play music. I'm using Foobar2000 Controller Pro on my android phone. All I had to do was copy a shortcut of the Foobar app in Windows to the Startup folder. Viola! As soon as my htpc starts, it loads up foobar and the music shows up on my phone. To turn off my computer, I just have to press alt+F4 twice on my wireless keyboard to shut down my computer. Sulit na sulit yung app ;)

Ako, i also turn off my monitor when listening to music. Distracting kasi. Pero i turn off my monitor after umandar na ng foobar.

Ooops... I map just asking for instructions as to how to locate the startup folder so I can install a foobar shortcut. It was in relation to this topic:
Kagalang-galang po na Konsehal, here are the instructions:
1. Click the Start button
2. Then go to All Programs
3. Under All Programs you will see a folder that says Startup
(http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f317/sientobente/Step01_zpsd3a4fae3.jpg)
4. Upon seeing Startup, right click on it and then choose Explore
5. You will see this window
(http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f317/sientobente/step02_zpsa4c36c0f.jpg)
6. Paste a shortcut of the Foobar App
Note: It's important that your computer doesn't need a login password to get into your desktop
7. Everytime you start Windows, Foobar automatically gets loaded and it syncs with the Foobar Controller app :)

Hope that helps our favorite Konsehal ng Pilipinas  ;)
