Let us all cross out fingers.
better double cross our fingers....baka sakaling lumabas din dito yung nasa tin case!! hehehe!!
;D ;D ;D
The tin case, if implemented in the R3 version, could conceivably up the price tag to P4,500.
Band of Brothers will be released next month, and there will be a pre-order promo with a twist. This is a full R3 edition that's supposed to be the same as the R1 edition (5+1 discs) including all of the DVD-only features. Pricing is hovering around the P3,000 to P4,000 range.
for those with relatives coming home from the US/Canada this Christmas, the R1 from Amazon-Canada that bently is discussing in a separate thread is even cheaper - it comes out to US$52.
question lang....is it really US$52 or US$89.99 as listed in Amazon? ??? or is there another edition of this one?
when are you accepting pre-orders for the BAND OF BROTHERS? how much for the R1, as well as the R3 versions? :)
just saw an ad in the papers today. for preorders, you get a discount of 300 from the 3,500 selling price.
may dts din kaya itong r3 version?

In Amazon.com (US) it's US$89.99. Click here (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/20B00006CXSS/ref=ase_pinoydvd-20) to view item.
In Amazon.ca (Canada) it's CDN$89.67 or US$57.63. Click here (http://www.amazon.ca/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00006CXSS/ref=ase_pinoydvdcom-20) to view item.
Use the CDN$10 discount coupon, add shipping costs to the US (CDN$5.48), and the price comes out to around US$54 or PHP2900.
hi! newbie here.
just joined this group to avail of the promo.
and of course to learn more about DVDs. :)
Is this confirmed already that the specs of R1 and R3 are the same?

Actually, it's confirmed that they're not the same.

Okay, my review's up. Just scroll to the top of this page. I only started watching it last night so I barely had time to write this up this morning.Max bitrate for the video is only 7.5Mbps (instead of the usual 9.8Mbps)
I hit 9.5 on my Pioneer 535 while viewing the scene where the company jogs up the hill during boot camp.

As for the Field Guide
If you've already bought and read the Stephen Ambrose book the series was based on, the information you'll get from Field Guide would be of very little value.
If you have not bought or read the book yet, you can buy a copy at NBS or PowerBooks for around 600 pesos with the 2000 pesos you save by going for the R3.

what is the title of the book?
Better make up your mind soon -- just got word from Astrovision that their current inventory of Band of Brothers is selling like hotcakes. They expect this title to be sold out by next week. Also, there's no guarantee that the next shipment from Warner Home Video will still be in tin cases.
Off topic but pasingit lang please, how'd you measured the bitrate? In my player (Onkyo DV-S535) when I press the Display button, it cycles around the no display, disc/playing info and the bitrate. I guess it is the same as the others.
regarding the book,
i saw two versions at powerbooks. one is 30 pesos more expensive. i couldnt spot the difference between the two except for the covers.
do u know??

They're identical except for the cover. The one with cover identical to that of the DVD is the newer edition.

Talaga? Do you mean that's where they got all the info? Kasi I already have the book and I've read it thrice already. I ordered the R3 version before I confirmed that the field guide was not included. Ngayon nagsisisi ako and I'm actually looking for a buyer so I can order the R1 na lang. What I'm really after is the extras kasi. Hope you can help me coz I'm more confused than ever :)
Thanks!
Here's what the field guides contain:
-Soldiers (text pages providing notes about the key soldiers during each phase of the war)
-Historical Timeline (text pages providing notes about key events during particular periods of the war)
-Map (an interactive map detailing the progression of Easy Company through Europe)
-Chain of Command (text pages explaining Army ranks)
-Glossary (text pages explaining terms used by soldiers)
If you've already read the book, then you must already know these information.
Hey guys,
Question, are the features that are lacking from R3 consist of any live action videos or are they all text only?Aside from the interactive map of the field guide.
Elf ;D
I just finished the last episode on this thing. Patok talaga!
I haven't looked at the R1 special stuff but I'm sure very in depth din.
Kayo, tol....baka mapunta sa 'yo to....siyempre kung may uuwi dyan...

hey guys!!! astrovision glorietta is selling this (in tin casing) for only Php 2450.00... ;) :) ;)
yeah bro no "DTS" and "Field Guides" for the R3 release as confirmed by other guys on the previous post of this thread.
My only question is that what is the difference between the "Tin Case" of an R1 and R3? Is there any significant aspects to determine if the package is an R1 or an R3? How can I be assured if the package is an R1, if I'm not gonna open the package? I already have an R1 "Tin case" but it is different from the one posted on amazon, there is a marking "HBO" on the side of the Box which amazon sells and the one I have has none. The Title was upward while mine was downward. I think mine was embossed (the title).
